Since I can't do anything but sit at the computer or watch TV, I am booooooored....(not that I should be complaining too much, but usually on the weekends I am busy with tons of chores). At least washing the bedsheets and towels so I can tell myself I've done something. And later, I'll be making something with hamburger, probably Mexican food of some sort, haven't decided yet.

The boys have been tracking dirt in all day and I can't even run the vacuum cleaner yet, as it would require jumping on one foot (funny visual), so I'll probably have to live with the mess for a couple more days.
I will send the cleaning fairy right over!!

He would get mad at me on days when I would take him two boxes saying it was too much food. Sigh. I can't do anything right. LOL)

Anyhow, I told him that I would bring him some food from the festival then for his dinner break. He responded, "Sweet! I want kabobs and spring rolls." So, I took him chicken kabob and spring rolls from Vietnam for his dinner break when we got back, and then when he came home he ate a beef kabob with a bit of rice and pico de gallo from Brazil, empanada and platano maduro from Ecuador and drank his Guarana soda from Brazil. Sadly, I didn't get him the baklava from Turkey. Anyway, he ate. every. thing! But, that event is only once a year and that food for him cost me $20 for him. alone.

Hoping that maybe as summer heat is winding down and he is upping his physical activity level maybe he will get an appetite back? I don't know. Thanks for asking, Eliza.

Ok. Question for those of you who use photobucket. My dh was having a fit with it. All I did was upload a few photos once a few months back for you all to see. He was trying to download photos others took on their fishing trip to South Padre this summer. When he does so it only comes to us as a tiny thumbnail. Do you ladies know how to get the photo big when you are downloading it? It is an account that one parent set up for the three parents to upload photos too so each family who had a scout go on the trip could go in and download the images of their son that they want instead of having to have all 1000 photos!

Yeah, I think we were low to mid 80s here as well although my car said 96 when we got finished with the zoo! Dh said how nice it was and he thought we had stayed in the 70s. Not. In the shade maybe! LOL It was a great day for the zoo. He hasn't been in years and he did get to catch a glimpse of the polar bear and ride the skyfari in Africa. Dh needs some exercise and sunshine as he works minimum 12 hours a day and then comes home and sits. I have to get him into shape for Disney you know. LOL but seriously I just need to get him moving as all the literature nowadays talks about how bad a sedentary lifestyle is. He is 6'1" and about 175 lbs so he is not overweight, just getting "soft".

Your food sounds yummy as usual, Chewie. I have enough leftover baked potatoes so I am going to chop them up and mix them with cheese, green onions, bacon and maybe some kind of creamy topping so they won't be too dry reheat as some casserole. Bacon is cooking in the oven right now and smells soooooo yummy!

you have to go to ALBUM OPTIONS and download the album and i think it only lets you do it once used to you could just right click on the picture and download it that way but it doesn't work that way anymore

Plus now I probably will need to pick him up for school/football tomorrow and they need to be there at 7 am. Guess I'm getting up at 6 am and leaving here at 6:30 so they get there on time.
Wow, Chewie. No way I would leave my son alone cuz the law would most likely be waiting for me when I got home. I can't trust my ds right now, sadly. How terrible of them to do so. I just wonder what the implications are legally for you all. I mean how old is this child? Is he 18? Cuz if not wouldn't it be considered child endangerment to leave him alone? And if you know but don't report them? Course could be that each state has there own laws in regards to this, just hope you don't get caught in the middle!

Lony.....please send the pink cleaning fairy to my house also please!!

Chewie.....how strange that they would leave a 13 yr. old alone at night without
making arrangement for him to stay with someone. I bet he was scared. In this crazy world why would you do that?
Chewie....a question for you. I just wonder why hubs doesn't take you and his folks out for Sunday dinner? You deserve that ever so often. OR he could do the cooking. That would be great also!!

I haven't done anything today. I have been playing games most all afternoon on this computer. It's just one of those days where I haven't been worth 2 cents I guess.
Everyone have a nice evening. Hi to all.........

wonder what el Caminos get for gas mileage??

if the bank talks to us right my son may have a vehicle this week won't be put in his name for a long time though will be different learning to drive it than my minivan

Good evening everyone. Been a chatty group - as usual........That's a good thing. Always nic to come on and see what everyone is up to.

I think I caught the grumpies/grouchys from Melinda........been one of those days - just not a happy camper - lol - want to snap at ds and dh, so I spent a lot of the day cleaning out my closet..........it's clean - but - I'm still out of sorts.

Eliza my dear - thanks for the heads up on the shoes. You know I was looking at them yesterday - and thought to myself - they look like that curve would not be a good thing. Then when you posted, I remembered it was that kind of shoe that is supposed to make your calf and butt exercise while walking.....umm no - don't need that with my back either. Read the article you posted on Dr. Davis and the Wheat Belly........I would love to get off wheat - don't eat that much as a rule anyway......Are you going to give it a try. NO, make that are you going to do it........let's be positive. Also - tell me more about your lumbar pillow. I am having a terrible time lately - even just sitting for short spells on the sofa.............I'm ready to get rid of my couches and get straight back chairs. The longer I sit - I start slouching and the next thing I know - the old sciatic is raising it's nasty self.

KC - sure glad to hear ds is eating better. $20 - whoa - that's a tad expensive - but I'm sure you thought it was sure worth it. Does your son tend to be moody? Up/down - always something? My oldest was that way - didn't know who I was going to have show up at the table there for a while. Hang in there - lol - what else can we do? It was a long 6 months for us - hormones? Who knows?

Chewie - You know Sue had a good idea.......even better - why doesn't MIL and Dad take you all out to eat? Or does it just never occur to them? Or - the old - 'but you're cooking is so much better than restaurant' food..........You treat them so often - you deserve to be treated more.

Melinda - what did you end up cooking today? Sat is our pizza day..........always buy frozen pizza and put them in the toaster oven.........adding extra cheese and toppings that we have a yen for........tonight it was black olives, banana peppers, mushrooms and pepperoni ............it's a bargain when you think how expensive it is anymore..........I'm cheap..........lol

Annett - so glad to hear you're still feeling better and better......thank goodness for antibiotics and pain pills. Getting more sleep too...........easier to go to work I'm sure. Don't know how you did it on so little sleep last week.

Lucky - I'm a farm kid too........both brothers still farm the farm in Ohio......It's definitely a different way of life than a city kid. You are so lucky that both your kids are so close........and grandkids too. That's the way it should be - seems families are so strung out anymore. My boys went to Maryland and Florida...........that's why I left Ohio - wanted to spend some more time with my boys. Now - to get to Florida soon.
How sore are you today? Hope not too bad.

Deb - my oh my - doesn't Steven look pretty darn special in that car. Hope it works out for you. Sure would help out on the taxi runs wouldn't it? You put a lot of miles on your car running him back and forth to school. Ken wanting to mow the yard - even I hooted on that one - thinking 'yeah - I bet Deb would let that happen'......boucing around on a mower?

Lony - you still listed under the injured? Fred keeping vigil? All projects concerning men end up at home depot or lowes, or harbor freight.............that's the only reason they start a project............lol - I know this from experience............

Melinda and all...........just so you know I do know that it is SUNDAY........lol - don't know why I said Saturday.........bah humbug..........Hey - it did me good to write you all a note............I even had a chuckle there at my own expense.........

BUT - there is no one here to talk to now............come out, come out - whereever you are.............I won't snap at you - promise..............Linda

Wonder how Miss Mona is gonna do this week.......Going to be a messed up week for her. My son tends to have crazy hours too often........makes for a lousy sleep pattern. Such is the life of a policeman. At any rate - HI Miss Mona............

thanks Linda! it is the first vehicle he has shown an interest in besides saying "EH"
he won't be able to help drive really for a while we need him to be able to pay his insurance and soo he still just has his permit licence will have to wait(as long as he has a permit we don't have to pay extra insurance but when he gets his licence we will) hopefully after Ken gets healed we can look for Steven a part time job so he can pay gas and insurance

the car is only 3 thousand and met the requirements Ken had that is be made out of real metal not fiberglass

a girl we knew that was born just 3 months before our oldest son ran into the back of a semi coming home across the foggy mountain from work one night and she died since then Ken said Steven couldn't have something small in case something like that happened
we had Ken's full sized Ford to give Kenny when he was in HS(he had to pay his insurance and gas too) and Ken would have liked to have gotten Steven a truck too Steven not one bit interested in a truck(am i SURE that kid is mine???) and we had been looking at SUVs for him $$$$$

this one has an amazing paint job! certainly unique! has those skulls and stars all over it

I thought the paint job looked pretty spiffy. Yeah - that's what we did too - the boys had to pay insurance and gas money. And dh was the same - no fiberglass - lol - think one had a truck and the other a big old Oldsmobile - mercy - that thing was a tank. But - it kept him safe - and that's all we want - to keep them safe............accidents happen - be prepared.

You are too cute........you break all those rules..........but - you still end up having to do the majority of the work, right? Nothing is simple. How stable is Ken getting now? He'll sure enjoy getting back to his own bed I'll bet.......the sooner the better if he has his way, right?

Hi Linda,

My MIL has sciatica and she has a number of lumbar pillows....one or two at home for computer chair and couch, a smaller one for the car, and one at work. She wouldn't go anywhere without them, even carries a smaller one on the plane

I got my on Amazon and it was around $16. Planning on getting at least one more so I can have one at home and one at work. I walk a lot at work, but I also do small reading and math groups at the round table for part of the day, and sitting just for 30 min at a time kills my back.

The pillow I picked comes with a washable cover and a strap to secure it to the chair. It supports your lower back in a great way and improves your posture to minimize pressure on the back.

I'll let you know how it works. I may even get one for my car, but smaller one. I have lumbar support on my car seat, but it's not enough.
These two are in the $16-17 range

This one they call lumbar roll, will probably work well for the car (around $19):

This one also looks good but it's around $34

Looks like lumbar support would solve or at least improve the problems I have in my hips, back, and neck. I have noticed that it is sitting for extended periods of time that causes them, so why didn't I think of this earlier?

Oh, wow, now you are set for a few days, I would say! Sorry to hear about you and sonny boy fighting. Our household has seen a bit of that this summer as well.

Wow - you've got leaves falling? That's pretty early. We had rain this evening - still have lots of humidity though.

Love being able to see ds lots - but miss my own place. Guess I should say I miss my old place.........Just not the same - guess that's what my problem is today - just feeling displaced. The housing here is horrible - it's nothing but a bidding war.........and then you hear nothing from anyone. Very discouraging.

Glad to hear that Ken was able to do the stairs and finally got to spend the night in his old bed.......and then to drive - wow - he's coming along very nicely. What a relief to you - when you can let your guard down and not worry too much - will be a while I'm sure.
