Introduction - Started today!
I just started Atkins today. I did it about 10 years ago and was successful, but then I went back to eating too many carbs about 3 years later. I am now at 285 pounds and have high blood pressure and am pre diabetic. So it is time to get back onto the program. I am 5-10' and have a big frame. I think I am my best at between 185-195 pounds. I am tired of feeling tiered and not being able to actively play with my children the way I would like to. I am also tired of the brain fog caused by too much sugar.
I am a business owner and my hobbies are playing music and writing songs. I have a wife and three kids. I am 48. Wish me luck I am looking forward to feeling good. End of the first day, not feeling so good right now, but I am sure tomorrow will be better. Reading stories on this site has helped with the motivation. And I know it works. Thanks for the support guys. Feeling better this morning. My wife says it already looks like I lost some weight (and she was serious). Carbs just really puff me up.

Hang in there Stevie, I too had success on this diet back in 04 but carbs creeped back into my eating habits and I gained the 107lbs I had lost plus a little more, been back on the diet since mid april and as you lose the weight and see your cloths fit looser you'll feel better about yourself, HANG IN THERE!!!

Thanks Loubif. I am committed. Once I am committed, I do well until I am thin and I forget that I just can't eat carbs.

, Big Stevie! Remember that the first 2 weeks are the hardest. Be sure to drink lots of water and salt your food and drink broth to minimize the symptoms of "induction flu" while your body adjusts to this new, healthier way of eating. I tried to not expect too much of my body--cut back on exercise, increased my hours of sleep--for the first couple of weeks, and that might help you, too.Be sure to keep visiting these boards and posting. There's lots of support and good advice to be had here. |
