Current Mini-Goal?
For us in the Century Club, it can get overwhelming to look at ALL the weight we want to lose. I have found it helpful to work on mini-goals along the way so that I can consistently feel accomplishment.
My current mini-goal is to get to 232. That will get me into the 50 pound club and mark the halfway point to me losing 100 pounds (my long term goal). My mini-goal is only 4 pounds away!! I'm hoping to reach it in June! ![]() What is your current mini-goal? |

I'm chasing away ten pounds for June, down to 374.6. Trish, I KNOW you will be firmly planted in the 50 pound club in no time.

I just joined the 50 lb club, but just lost my membership already. I need to lose 2 more lbs to get back into that group--I WILL do it this week.
My plan is to lose 5 more lbs by the end of June to get to my 1/2 way goal-and be int 180's. Just thinking about makes me say WOW, haven't been there in years. And I amazed that I'm getting close--that I can actually do this. Been thinking about death recently, and thought why go to all this trouble since I will die soon, since my family member usually die in their 50's and I'm 62 already. Well, my pall bearers (sons) will have an easier job, I want everyone to say, 'she looks good!". Actually my body is being donated to science, so I don't want the Medical student to say, 'wow she is the fattest person I've ever met, why did I have to get her?'.

Chris, my first reaction when I read your post is awwww... don't say that! You've got years ahead of you! But, you are just being real. I've had so many people pass away recently: My FIL, one of my older buddies, etc. Too much. I've also been thinking about dying lately. Purging stuff, going through paper work. I told DH last Monday after our ATV ride that if I died tomorrow, I'd die happy.
As to the OP, my first mini goal is to lose 31. I picked that in January, because I thought that's where I was (263) when I opened my business 9 years ago. BUT, according to my medical chart copy I have, I actually was 268.8 when I opened. So, I am "this close" to my first mini-goal. My next mini-goal is 230. IDK why, it just sounds good. ![]() |

I've set a mini-goal to work towards this summer: getting to 272. That will be 25 pounds down from my highest, will be close to 10% off, and will bring me below 275.
I'm a SLOWWW loser though, so this is a very ambitious mini-goal for me. Good luck to everyone with their mini-goals! |

My mini goal is 263...a strange number but it would be one pound less that the dreaded 4th of July picture from a few years ago. It is also a weight where I didn't have a lot of the health related issues like breathing problems and joint pain. I could actually workout full force.
I too have been thinking a lot about dying since my friend died Friday night. I was also thinking about it when I hit my highest weight of 317 not that long ago. I want to live! This is the time! This is the place! |

Aspire, this is off topic for this thread, but I just wanted to say this. If I am not mistaken I saw on some other topic that you are going to be a doctor. God Bless you. I have been obese since I was a toddler. Doctor visits have always been a nightmare.Looking back, some of the discussions were at least inappropriate, and sometimes wrong wrong wrong. I do know that doctors are people and have the right to their opinions but many times the prejudice just plain showed. Having said that, the best doctor I ever had was a lady doc who weighed at least 250. She was totally professional and matter of fact in her communications and I loved how she would tell me about things. She would first say: the official medical declaration about ( xyz ) is " such and such" and then she would say , but between you and me, as one large woman to another "such and such". She was not giving me bad medical advice, she was just BEING REAL. Unfortunately she died in a car accident and I have never had the luck to encounter another doc with such compassion and good spirit. Aspire, I hope you reach your weight loss goal, but please remember, if you do not, it will not diminish your excellence as a physician.... but it may be a sign of your humanity and kindness to overweight patients. With the increase in overweight and obesity , esp. in people over 40 ... that will mean almost half of the people you see.

Thanks ebeads...I am just waiting to get my test results of my final board to practice. The way you feel is echoed among many patients and I will be the doctor that they can come to. I do want to reach my weight goals just to feel better and make my job easier (that and I want to be hot again). I am saddened by the loss of your good doc...it seems like such a loss when you finally find one you like and can trust.

Hello everyone - I've set a mini goal of losing 50 lbs. by my birthday in October. I'm one fifth of the way there after three weeks. I know things will slow down for me, but right now I am PSYCHED. I'm not having a bit of trouble staying on plan, have decided to lay off the alcohol and am exercising every day. I can't tell you how great I feel. I had a hysterectomy last August and had my hip replaced on Halloween, so I feel like I have a new lease on life. The first surgery was for ovarian cancer and the only reason they found it early was because I couldn't take the hip pain any longer. I hadn't seen a doctor in 10 years (shame on ME) and my bad hip saved my life. I loved the doctor that saved me and now she is gone too and I have to find another. But I will never ever let my annual physicals slide again. Please don't neglect those. I was unbelievably lucky.
That said, it's okay to think about death and to prepare for it. I'm sure it might even lengthen your life to prepare for death and set your mind at ease. But we're all here to improve our health and extend our lives. That's my ultimate goal. |

I've set mini goals since I started 3 years ago. I would have never kept the motivation to go this far if I wouldn't have.
My mini goal right now is 199. That will be onderland reached and 200lbs lost. |

My Mini Goal is to reach 265 before July 1 and get moving no matter how slow I go at first. That's a loss of 12 pounds from my current weight.
I am the type of person to have to keep small easily attainable goals or I get majorly frustrated... I know that death is a condition to being here. I refuse to allow that fact to keep me from living. I have faith that God knows when. I also know that God would not want me to dwell on death, He would rather have me focused on doing His will while alive. |

Hi Gals - Cindylou, Passion, Margo - we are also so very much alike. I feel like we will be sharing our entire journey and I know that we will do this. We have the will and we have the way, plus we have this awesome website!!
Michelle - 200 lbs.!!! I can't even imagine how amazing you must feel. Half your former self. Did you stay on the same WOE throughout? I haven't been on this site very long and haven't been able to thoroughly investigate. If you have a journal about your weight loss journey, I'll find and read it. I'm always curious about anything I can do to speed things up. However, I never weigh or measure. Just can't get into it. I'm lucky that I'm taking the time to prepare whole food meals - not that I was a fast foodie ever in my life. I just like the quick and easy way, like steamed or grilled...period. Every once in awhile, I'll combine stuff in the crockpot, but being in the kitchen has never been my forte. If I made something special, I'd make a huge batch and eat it for a week. Now that I'm really sticking to my guns, my SO is either eating what I eat or fending for himself. Poor guy. Yeah, right. :-) Last edited by iminit4me; 06-12-2012 at 09:22 AM.. |

Currently my mini-goal is to get down to under 400. That seems doable by the end of September since I've been doing about a pound a day. I want to be able to get my silly nerd scale with the wifi and iOS App

I'm visiting family with my kiddos and away from DH for the next 7 weeks. In that time I would love to lost 15 lbs, which would put me at 225 lbs. But if I get between 225-229 I'll be happy.

My mini goal is to get down to 194 - that would be down 60 lbs. But the scale is creeping and may stop. My hamstring is very sore and I need to give it a rest...but we will see how long that is going to take. I've only taken a few advil today. But at least I am not crying about my knees, ankles, feet, shoulder and 58 lbs lost is a nothing to complain about!
