I also have heard that sometimes when it says "natural flavor" it can mean high fructose corn syrup , but just in a small amount. I am sorry .. any amount will trigger my appetite ... which is my biggest enemy on this food plan. *sigh*

Okay, Suz, checking in to see how you're doing!

Re: Fibro, a friend of mine has it, REALLY bad, and she is skinny as a toothpick. Goes to show doctors weight has no bearing on it!

Re: Exercise: Did the treadmill for 20 min 3x last week, and walked for the 10 min on the trail. Last night while on the treadmill I wanted to give up after 10 minutes. Oh, the excuses that went through my little blond head! I forced myself to complete the 20 min, ran for 15 seconds at 3.0 MPH, and then did hand weights.

Suz, you can do it! I hope you are at least stepping outside for a few minutes each day with your grandkiddo. Baby steps.

I'm not losing. I am going to try a week without sweetener and see how that goes. I just priced out seltzer water. Will spend money I dont have (LOL ) for a weeks worth because I can't stand tap water. I am my own experiment. There are so many differing opinions on the board about coffee, sweeteners, cheese. So I have to see what is my own bugaboo. I am using ****** and I am keeping all my food in line I have a suspicion it may be one or all three of the things I mentioned.
Our tap water is rough here too. I bought a 3 gallon water dispenser from Wal-mart and we fill it up and put it in the refrigerator. After 1 day it is cold and taste pretty darn good. It has saved me. I buy water in bottles BUT I use only one container a day and refill it from the picture in the refrigerator. This has saved me tons. Don't know how bad your water is there but if this helps you may save a lot too. Just thought I'd share. Hope you find this post.

Here's a picture of what my container looks like. It doesn't leak at all ...

Okay everyone ... update.

I made it through 2 days so far. I know this might not sound like much, but it really is. With all the different meals I have to cook and resist, it has been hard but I've gone from 302.6 to 294.8 as of this morning.

You guys gave me enough encouragement and just the push I needed.

Passion, I'm glad you mentioned the Mucinex. It seemed that EVERY morning I woke up with a swollen face and all chugged up inside and I just started thinking that maybe I wasn't draining as well as I should so I had started taking Mucinex every night too. The doctor prescribed Singulair and it worked good for a while until I got a headache that wouldn't go away and it felt like my head was full of concrete. I stopped taking it after a month because it was $169 for a month's supply ... and I noticed that in about 24 hours my headache was gone. So, Mucinex at night and Allegra in the day.

I am so thankful for you guys. When I came back in to let you guys know how I was doing and found out everyone was checking on me ... I couldn't believe it.

Guess I need to go in and fix my statistics and maybe I should start a journal where I post my menus and results? Now that I've made it 2 days ... I keep thinking that to stop now would be such a waste of effort.

By the way, I NEVER want to do that first day over again. I was almost mean. LOL

Suz, glad you're hanging in there. I must clarify: I don't take Musinex every night-just when I am down w/ a tight, congested chest. When I'm sick, I do everything in my power not to land in the ER with an asthma attack. I like oxygen too much. Keep chugging the water. Asthmatic lungs like to stay hydrated.

Action plan: I find not only do I call it baby steps (instead of the popular "one day at a time"), I have to break my day down into meal by meal, body movement by movement. Meaning, if I eat my low carb lunch, and take the stairs to the ladies room today, those are two things I can do toward my goal while at the office today. If I don't do this, and focus on the 129 or so pounds I still need to lose? There's no way. I'd give up.

Great idea. This 162 pounds I should lose is looking a bit BIG and I know it's going to be a long journey. Thanks

Good Morning everyone, hope your Sunday is shaping up.
I took AlevePM last night. It helps just a little with the pain but it did allow me to get sufficient sleep. The sad thing about it is it works for a couple of days ( in the sleep help category) but then it stops working for that. I guess you develop something of an intolerance to it. I have found that if I do not take it for a couple of weeks my body sort of does a re-set and it works again for another couple of days.

I think my scale is budging. I think I think I hope. It wiggles so much that depending on how I lean it varies wildly but I play the little game that I get it to go the heaviest it can, then I get it to go the lightest it can and I mark those ranges. ( OYE as if dieting is not frustrating enough, I have to be frustrated by an inanimate object! HEHHEE )

I am going to heat up my neck cozy. God knows what the real name of it is , but it has pellets inside that hold heat and it feels good on neck and shoulders. I am feeling the need for a little comfort this a.m.

Hoping to hear from the rest of you. How goes it?

Ebeads ... (((((HUGS))))) I can't imagine what you're going through. You're in my thoughts and prayers today and all this week. Hope you get some relief.

Aspire, glad you were helped by reading this. There was so much I wanted to ask and share but some of it was just so personal and related only to those who have larger amounts to lose. I chose here because I thought if anyone could understand it would be those here.

Deb, you're such an encourager. Thanks for checking in on me.

Yesterday went okay. I made it through very successfully but with a LOT of will power. Even though these beginning days have been hard, I remember doing this years ago and I remember it gets MUCH MUCH easier. So I keep reminding myself that I will get there to where it is almost automatic.

Now, an update you may enjoy ... I am experiencing a LOT less pain! AND I lost a bit more. Even though it is probably a lot of water weight I lost, I am still not carrying it around and it does feel good.

Some successful moments this weekend included (1) not having to ask my daughter to help me with my shoes and socks (so humiliating) and (2) able to reach BY HAND (not back brush) the lower part of my back when scrubbing up in the shower. AND I know this is personal and maybe TMI ... but ... (3) no straining until I thought I'd fall of the toilet to clean up after 'movements'.

I can't believe I just shared that.

Seriously, being over-weight has caused me to make so many adjustments in my life. I am wondering what life will be like. I wanted to ask Tada what it feels like. I mean, have you seen her? She used to be big and now she runs marathons. What must that feel like??? It's like a fish looking at a bird and wondering what it's life must be like.

to all my new friends and thanks for being here.

-Suz

SUZ those non scale victories(NSV) are the BEST!i am so happy for you!
i can realte to each one OH my the first time i was able to stand flatfooted and retie an undone shoe!! and !!!! i scared my husband to death by screaming out loud in the car once i was abvle to put my water bottle between my legs and hold it while buckling my seat belt and whenh i realized what i had done i SCREAMED ! . Ken thought i had a heart attack or something and it about caused him one!
KEEP AT IT and when you get discouraged remember one of these NSVs and keep on!

Deb, I was laughing out loud and tears came to my eyes when I read your post. I haven't stood flatfooted yet to tie my shoe but I will. And the thought of you screaming because you could buckle up AND 'hold' your water bottle ... ROFLMBO!

I wasn't going to share these things but all I could think about was, "What if there is someone out there like me holding in all these ugly secrets that have made me feel like such a failure?" I just want others to know where I have been so they can HOPEFULLY not feel so alone.

I truly felt all alone before sharing this. I'm not joking when I say it has helped me.

I am not alone!

Aspire!

Deb, thank you for posting the cute pictures and sayings. They make me smile.

Suz!!!!

Day off 2 of 3. Did yard work yesterday. It's getting easier as I've lost weight. I am still very self-conscious about which direction I point my hindquarters when bending down pulling weeds. Certain muscles hurt today, but I am not complaining. I am thankful for my body and it's capabilities.

Staying on plan this weekend as much as possible. One thing I love about low carb eating is it compliments my DH's love of meat.

Aspire, LOL ... I have actually pulled a muscle 'taking care of things' ...

Deb, THANKS for posting that link. I'm going there right now.

Passion, I was weeding the garden the other day and we live RIGHT on the highway and everyone we know passes by ... Oh I was hoping no one saw me!!! HAHAHA

I had a muscle cramp or something that put me in the floor yesterday for about 3 to 5 minutes squalling in big huge tears. Has anyone ever heard of that one? It was a sharp pain in the upper left abdomen. Praying that never happens again!

Lost a little more. I'm being very strict and it's the first week so ... I know this is probably just a honeymoon but I'll take it.

Went shopping for food this morning. Victory one ... everything I needed was on sale ... chicken was !.29 a pound , bacon was 2.89 a package , and they had the little individually wrapped salmon that cost less than half of fresh. YAY

Victory 2 . I did not feel odd or tweaked or tempted by anything in the grocery store, AT ALL. This is not normal for me. I always am triggered when I smell and see my no no foods. But not today. woohoo.

Also .. I figured out ( dumb me ) that the store brand plain seltzer in the large bottles is way cheaper. YAY ( that is my solution for now for my yucky city water). The water here is so awful, I put fresh tap water each day down for my kitties. My older cat makes that paw cover-up motion that cats do WHILE SHE IS DRINKING! I am not the only one who can't stand it. For now seltzer is my go-to. I will figure out a filter thing later on. I do not have room in the fridge ( I just have a dorm cube because I do not have a real kitchen, just sink and stove on one side of the entry hall.

Anyhow... wishing you all a great day!
