Getting Healthy in 2012!

This is a group that has been together for a long time. Some people are MIA but we all know they will be back and hopefully in 2012 we can all move towards our goal of getting healthy. New comers are welcome and try to post often. I would have never been able to get where I am today without this group.

So, what are your goals for the new year?

Sorry guys I didn't have anything clever for the name.

Hi-
Michelle thanks for getting the thread started! I think the name is great and a few folks had mentioned Getting It Done One By One if you feel like or even can do editing to the title. I am just grateful that you got our new thread going. I hope we all have a wonderful year!

June-just focus on making progress on track-it doesn't matter where we start as long as we keep going! Glad you had a good time!

I was inspired by another thread to suggest this and hope it would be helpful/nice to celebrate the things we accomplished in 2011 and like Michelle suggested also list what we hope to accomplish in 2012

In 2011 I:
Had VSG surgery to get healthy
lost over 50 pounds and got under 300 pounds
had paid off my credit card debt (but then with my surgery it is back)
Fit back into clothes I could wear 3 years ago (when I lost weight due to mourning and then had gained 65 pounds back due to bad habits)
Got out of a bad, unhealthy relationship

In 2012 I:
Will pay off my credit card debt again
Will do all in my control/ability to lose 100 pounds by staying on plan and exercising 4-5 days a week for 45 minutes a day
Will unclutter my house by trading in books or selling them and donating things to charity including my clothes that get too big for me rather than hanging on to them as a safety net
Will finalize and get closure on the issue I am dealing with in Italy (i.e. my divorce!)
Will take the GRE exam and apply for an MSW program
Will post here even if things aren't going well in order to give and receive support

Here we go! We CAN do it!

Laura - Great accomplishments and great goals! You CAN DO IT!!! I will be your cheerleader every step of the way!

My goals are to keep exercising 5- 6 times per week (working back up to my distance and intensity - I have walked about a mile in 20 minutes these past two days...), to eat as healthfully as possible as often as possible, and to drink at least 3 bottles of water a day (I know that sounds low, but water and I haven't been getting along lately, so this is a good, attainable goal for me...). I also want to declutter my house a little at a time and I need to pay down some medical debt so I can afford my 2nd round of plastic surgery in June.

My goals are to learn how to be happy with myself. I'm just sick of being sad.

And get close to goal. I've been screwing up. I don't want to gain this weight back. I want to get smaller. I can walk in heels now but I'm still not happy with myself. I want to be skinny.

Marking my spot in our new thread. Thanks Michelle for starting it for us!

In 2011, I lost 81 lbs following WW PP and finding support HERE.

In 2012, I would like to lose 60 more lbs and keep it off. I am committed to working out 3 days a week. For short term goals I am looking forward to seeing 100 lbs gone (215)!

Happy to have found the new post. Name sounds good to me. Hope everyone had a Happy New Year!! June, glad you made it home safely. Had a wedding in the family saturday instead of the usual finger type foods we had a meal. I stayed on track pretty good until the wedding cake. I only ate a small piece, sorry but you can't go to a wedding w/o eating a small piece But I did feel bad afterwards, I felt like I let myself down, but all I can do is get back up and do the best I can. Did really good yesterday and ate bacon & a wedge of cheese for b-fast, chicken breast & diet coke for lunch & chicken breast & green beans for dinner.

Gym for me also Nikki.

I'm feeling a tad bit better today. This morning was not. But right now I am. Now I gotta work on catching back up to Nikki! I knew this was going to happen. She flew by me while I was screwing around.

Haven't weighed, going to stay on plan a while before I do. I would guess between 240-250 if I'm lucky. I'm still in my 20's and that's about the only dang thing keeping me sane.

B-coffee black
L-tuna pouch w/mayo/mustard (Come on, who missed seeing that?!!!!!!!!!)
I'm thinking I need a snack before workout, same as lunch
D-eggs scrambled w/butter?

Glad to see you are back on track! When I weighed yesterday I was up to 240.4 so I put on 6 lbs but I think most of it is water weight. I ate off plan 3 days for Christmas and 2 days for New Years. But now I am going at it hard core! I'm counting points for everything that crosses my lips. I'm going to workout at lease 3 days a week. I'm ready to see 100 lbs lost and to take new progress pics.

Lets get it done girls!

My goals for 2012:
Stay on plan even if the scale isn't moving. Not weigh myself everyday. Tring weekly and will increase from there. Hope to lose 100 pounds, of course want more but this will hopefully be doable if I keep to the other goals. Start a Sane exercise program

Good morning friends! I hope 2012 is off to a good start for everyone.

Today I am taking a break from the gym. I have worked out the last 2 days and I am sore this morning.

Have a great day ladies. I'll try to check back in this evening to see how everyone is doing.

Hi Nikki-

I went to the gym for the first time this year today- O--M---G!! I just got back fom my first spinning class and my nether regions hurt so bad I can hardly walk. WHO designed a seat like that to give THAT kind of pain??!! The only saving grace is that apparently most people (skinny or fat-doesn't seem to make a difference) hurt like that-the instructor and others in the class told me that-they even make padded seat covers and padded crotch pants to try to help people with the pain-how whacked is THAT? I mean make something that you know will hurt people so they have to buy more stuff to try to not hurt when they use it??!!! ANYWAY...the good news is I stayed and finished the class...I didn't do all the stuff the instructor was calling out to do but I made it to the end and wobbled my way outta there...and I feel good for keeping my goal to go today even when the person who was supposed to meet me and do the class with me was a no-show.

I still am not in the 280's but I'm closer... maybe this week it will happen

Hope everyone is doing well and making today a good day. I plan to have some chicken salad and drink LOTS of water, do some cleaning around the house, grab a shower, gas up the car and then head into that place that trades my time and skills for their money.

Ahhh Nikki, sadly that gives me a little comfort to know we are pretty much probably together, except I'm not weighing. Day 3 back on track for me! I did go to the gym yesterday and did 30 minutes on the elliptical and some weights. I've been wanting to look into P90X honestly, but don't really know where to start.

Also, my gym had fliers up for all these classes, to help you figure out which ones are for you, and there was an email addy on it and it said to email her, I think I'm going to.

There's also a u.s. wide 12 week challenge, and you can win all these prizes, and honestly I'm thinking about signing up. I think it would keep me motivated. It said to ask someone at the gym about it, but there was only a young sexy guy working there yesterday, and he was not taking pictures of my mounds of skin hanging stomach.

I need to go buy some food. Seriously. I have 2 tuna pouches left and a couple eggs.

Yaaaay ladies for going to the gym. I really think 2012 is our year!

I don't really know what my goal is, I mean mentally I do, but I say it every year and it doesn't happen. I get closer but screw up a lot through the year. So I know what I want, but for today I want to stay on plan and get closer.

Menu today:
B-coffee w/2tsp powdered creamer, splenda
L-tuna pouch w/mayo/mustard
D-I really want the shrimp I have but not sure how to make it.

Have a great day everyone!

Howdy....looks like we all have begun...lets see how long we can go without bk sliding. I rejoined WW last nite and went grocery shopping today. Since my husband gained 12 extra lbs over the holidays, he is dieting but refuses to do low carb. So we r going to do WW for a bit. I will be doing a combination of LC and WW. Not going to eat anything white, but will be eating a few fruits and will be eating more veggies, whole grain bread and fat free cottage cheese. I will allow myself one cup of java with cream for my morning beverage and then switch to green tea for the rest of the day. This morning I had oatmeal with yogurt...lunch I hd whole grain bread with turkey and dill pickle...tablespoon of fat free cottage cheese mixed with teasp lc catsup...with 3 wheat crackers...for dinner I will have a turkey patty with spinach. No snacks....just green tea...If my husband gets home early enough we r going to the Y to renew our membership. I really need to get back into the pool....plus I m suppose to be doing therapy....go back to doc Tuesday and not sure how he is going to react to my not getting that started yet Glad you girls are working out....lets keep it going...Jan is the easiest month to stay on track....its the other 11 that can sink us....

Glad you are on track as well June! I hope you get your therapy on track and your knee starts feeling better.

I went grocery shopping as well yesterday. I spent over $100, cleaned the fridge out, put groceries up and looked at it. There was nothing there. 36 eggs cost $6 now! I'll be living off eggs, tuna, and turkey hot dogs. I'm trying to keep my calories low to get some weight off fast before I weigh, and all those are pretty low cal in combination. I kind of wish I would have got some cottage cheese.

Oh I got some almond milk for my coffee. I don't like it with coffee. I will have to bite it and use the extra 25 calories in hwc

I will use my almond milk for glucc pudding. Gonna get back on that I guess.

I also worked out again yesterday.

Menu for today:
B-coffee/almond milk/splenda
L-IDK I'm still not hungry. I had a whole turkey leg last night and the combination of feeling that in my stomach, and ketosis setting in. Not hungry at all.
S-pre-workout snack, I will force something down, probably tuna w/mayo/jalapeno
D-Either tuna, eggs, or maybe some glucc pudding. I know I know, not a lot of calories, but I am not hungry.

I also found out the classes I was looking into have already started. I may be able to get in for Feb. But there is no info on feb classes yet.

Well have a great day everyone.

Hi Ladies.
Haven't been to the gym yet this year. Actually, haven't been in several months. Almost quit, but changed my mind when they said I'd have to pay an early cancellation fee of $70! Goal for tonight is to dance (Just Dance 2 for the Wii.) Something to get me moving again, maybe I can work my way back into the gym.

B- egg and cheese bake, coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 and splenda
L- atkins peanut butter meal bar
D- hamburger fried with ro-tel, cabbage, and cheese.

Keep On Rockin'!

Abbs, I just might be joining you on the wii tonite...we have dance 2..but whatever I do it will be better than nothing....I hve joint and bone issues so its hard to do anything using the legs.....have lymphadema in my arm so its hard to do things using my arms...I really just need to get my butt to the Y and get in the pool. At any rate, I am on plan and doing well with it..

Michelle, glad you went to the store for groceries....its major to keep things in pantry and fridge.. I cooked 3 dinnrs tonite...will be eating those if husband dear doesn't eat too much...lol...Its all about one day at a time....

I'm here..glad to hear that June, Michelle and Abber are on plan. YAY!!! I'm on plan and also did some more stuff stacking wood for about 20 minutes. Had to drive with my dad to take some equipment to a repair shop about 80 miles away one way so spent most of the day driving. About to grab a shower and then head to a support meeting. Have a good evening!
