Hi-
Thanks Jenny, Michelle and Nikki!

Jenny-hope your weigh in goes great-We all have a slip here and there-the trick is to stay on track as much as possible and try to jump right back on track with the next time we eat after a slip and it sounds like you did that! so YAY you! Let us know how things go!

Michelle-WOOHOO! Congrats on making yourself go work out! That's fabulous and you rock! Congrats on the lower weight too! Hope your knee feels better very soon! Oh...and as for my age, I'll be 45 in March. I don't feel 45, though..don't see my self as old or even middle aged..just trying to live life to the fullest and enjoy being in the midt of it rather than on the sidelines watching eveyone else like I did in the past.

Nikki-hope you day off goes well and KUTGW! your party sounds so fun! Enjoy!

I'm going to do housework. Had to rush my kitty (the one in my avi-his name is Tuffy) to the vet this morning-he was having trouble with his breathing. He got some meds and now is at home wanting some bacon as a treat and trying to be near me. awwwww.... I looooooove my sweet kitty...hope he is better soon-that his antibiotic kicks in soon and he stops sneezing ans wheezing

Morning ladies......I am still around plugging the carb numbers and staying on plan most days. I have not gained nor lost since last time I popped in. We are traveling lots and I do try to be good. Breakfast is always easy:0 but it gets iffy for the othre meals.

I see you all are doing well and that just pleases the punch out of me Glad you all are exercising and doing what needs to be done. Each month there is less of you

Michelle...get ice packs for those joints...they really help. I have found that the old fashion ice bag ith screw on lid....you just fill it full of ice and u can put it anywhere. I have expensive ones that are a pain to use....finally bought the ice bag and I love it....plus its great for traveling. I have used every known product to man for the joint boo boos and ice is the best. Tiger balm is also good for topical application.....just don't use both together

Nikki....you are on a roll....so busy and just sounding so full of energy This is a very busy time for you....

Laura, keep up the good work, hope your kitty gets better....

To everyone else, I use to be a regular.....still am but not being able to post much because I am never on this cmptr much...wish you all success and I will try to get bk here to get to know you ladies....

We r going to the coast Friday....I will be going to my first Mardi Gras parade and I am so very excited. I am really going to try and keep on plan. Last trip, I was so swollen, I lost 12 lbs in 3 days after we got home....It was all fluid. Its so hard eating out because of all the salt......and because I never eat salt here.....it hits me like a tital wave.....I am really going to have to pick and choose my foods this time....
Luv ya

Mamma June!!!!!!!!!! You're still a regular. Have fun! I'm jealous.

Laura-well, I don't want you to expect them to be like regular noodles or regular rice. They take a bit of getting used to. When you open the bag there will be a fishy smell but please don't let that put you off. It's the liquid they put them in the bag with. You have to rinse them with cold water for about 20 seconds and it will get rid of the smell. Then put them in a dry, hot pan for 5-8 minutes. It will change the texture of them. I'm very used to them now so I don't have to do that, but I prefer to. They don't have any flavor so they will soak up whatever you put them with.

Here is a shiratake thread I started about them, with recipes, etc...
Everything Shiratake...

And here's a little cheat sheet I made about how to prepare them for a dish:
Low Carbin' Made Simple: How to Prepare Shiratake Noodles

Michelle: I can't blame you for giving us some new ideas when it comes to food. I just need to keep control and treat pork rinds like potato chips and know you can't eat just one, but I need to. I not crazy about plain pork rinds but I do like the bbq ones. I guess I miss that crunch.

Laura: I agree with the other girls he sounded like a blow hard and a BIG JERK. His loss, not yours.

Nikki, Melinda, and all the girls have a good day.

Anyway, he didn't impress me-no sparks and he was chatting up the bartender/server right in front of me and left her a $10 cash tip for the $18 bill-guess he was trying to impress her. He did buy lunch but after his behavior it was the least he could do. He chose to sit at the bar and made sure there was a chair/bar stool between us. He never turned to face me during lunch but did follow the bartender and name dropped and yapped about himself constantly. Guess it is a good thing I didn't feel any spark or attraction. It is difficult to explain but he just looked like someone's dad and he seemed so old. I guess I can't wrap my head around seeing middle aged men who look and walk/act old and without any energy. He yapped about his work and then kinda insulted me and tried to one up me about everything-his security clearance, his work is super technical and I probably wouldn't understand what he was talking about, he knows cars and has helped guys learn about them but not too many girls since most of them have no clue about what is going on under the hood anyway...etc. I just wasn't feeling it or him.... oh well...time to release this fish and see what else is out there. I feel good because I went and tried this out and found out that nope, this guy was a bad match so let's see who might come along that will be better for me! *crossing fingers, hoping and praying*

Thanks again for the support everyone!

Congrats to those eating well and exercising and *hugs* to those struggling to hang in there!

Hi Melinda-

Thanks and yeah, she probably did...*L*

As far as you not wanting to leave the home, I'm not a doc but I know of some folks who had similar feelings. One had depression and the other had a mild case of agoraphobia-if it gets real bad, you might want to see a doc and see if something similar is going on with you and if there is something that can help you overcome these feelings. You might just like to feel snug as a bug in a rug and just not like cold weather-so why go out if ya don't HAVE to, right? In any event, I hope you feel better soon and are out and about having fun.

Hi girls -

Michelle -I am so impressed with your determination - and that you pushed yourself to go to go to body combat (I'm not even really sure what that is but it sounds painful!!) Sorry about your knee.

Laura - I hope kitty is doing better. I have a 17 year old cat named Lily. She is up there in age but still pretty spry...especially when she is getting chased by our 2 year old beagle!

Well I just got back from weigh in and only lost 1.5 pounds. One pound of it was fat. I guess that's good but working so hard during the week seems like it should pay off better than that! I'm only eating 500 - 600 calories for heaven's sake!!! Anyway, here's to another week and hoping for a bigger loss next week. I try not to weigh in between because I don't want to discourage myself.

Dinner tonight will be a challenge for me because I am ordering pizza for the kids because they have activities in the evening and we need to rush. Trying to think of something quick that I can make for me that will be satisfying...maybe a couple slices of sausage pizza??? KIDDING!!

Hope everyone had a good day.

Hi Ladies!

Michelle - WTG on the loss! And hope your knee is feeling better.

I really, really, really wanted to cheat after work today. I wanted some kind of junky snack. Well, guess what I did. I came home and made myself some fried pepperoni chips and cheese "crackers" in the microwave and enjoyed them dipped in a little sour cream! Totally worked.

B- cafe americano w/HWC and splenda, atkins peanut butter crisp protein bar.
L- 3 hard-boiled eggs w/mayo.
S- pepperoni and cheese crisps, dipped in sour cream
D- Chili! no beans of course :P

The scale hasn't budged in five days. I would love to be down to 356 before the weekend. If that doesn't happen, I might have to re-evaluate some of my current food choices. Oh well, I'm gonna chug some water and hope for the best.

Oct2667, stay cozy. Maybe you need some sunshine though.

June, HI! and WTG staying on plan while traveling. Not an easy feat!

Everyone else, WELCOME and keep on rockin'

I think i will cut out the atkins bars, just to be sure. DH can eat the rest of 'em i guess. now that i've had more time to think about what happened, it wasnt as bad as it could have been. Probably ate about a quarter of what i could have easily eaten in a pre-LC binge. and, i'm glad it didn't taste good, maybe i'll stop obsessing over it.

Good morning ladies!

Abbs, it happens to everyone. Don't beat yourself up... Just get right back on the wagon and don't look back.

It's going to be a crazy couple of weeks at work. My supervisor had surgery yesterday and will be out for about 2 weeks. So now I'm doing my work and hers. Trying not to stress over it too much.

Have a great day ladies!

Girls -

Do you think SF popsicles or one SF peanut butter cup (1 net carb) could stall weight loss? I'm seriously not eating any more than 600 calories a day. My ketosis went from Moderate to Trace and I only lost 1.5 pounds this week. I don't get it...

Any advice would be appreciated.

JennyT-for me, the sf peanut butter cup would stall me. Probably not the sf popsicle, depending on what's in it. I don't know anything about Medi Weight Loss. Can you give us an idea of what you are eating? I know for a lot, if you don't eat enough calories it can stall you. I'm not that way, the less I eat the easier I lose, but YMMV.

Sorry about your boss Nikki, you can do it though!

Down to 234.6 here. Trying to get back to last weeks low of 232.6, so 2 more lbs. I actually think that weight was a fluke last week, so I'de be happy with anything lower this week. That means next week I can hopefully get into the 220's! Although TOM is due at the end of next week. Blech.

I don't know anything about the Medi Protein bars, depends on what they are made of. If they have a lot of sugar alcohols, such as Malitol, that stalls me dead in my tracks. That menu just seems, idk, not optimal for weight loss? But like I said, I don't know anything about Medi. Have you ever tried lc on it's own? Just curious.

Forgot my menu today:
B-coffee/hwc/sweet n low, sf vanilla syrup
L-shiratake w/asparagus, green olive, grape tomato, parmesan cheese, Ken's Northern italian light dressing. 1 garlic butter Gortons tilapia filet.
S-tuna w/mayo/mustard
D-shiratake w/turkey bacon, green olive, feta, parm, butter
S-grilled chicken breast if needed

Wow! I just looked up the medi bars, and I'm actually surprised. They don't look so bad, actually a lot better than most LC bars you can buy. I'm intrigued about getting some myself. I'm horrible with sugar alcohols and they only have 4g.
