Ok been meaning to ask this stupid question and keep forgetting. I usually don't do a lot with Net carbs, I just make sure it is low carb. With that being said I found these wraps that have 5 carbs and 12 grams of fiber. Is that negative carbs or have the Net carbs already been given. It doesn't tell on the package.

Jen, US labelling means that carbs are total, and the fiber carbs are part of the carb total which would mean that label is just plain impossible and therefore wrong.

UK/European labelling is different, carbs listed are after fiber, fiber listed seperately so it would be 17 total carbs, 5 net, 12 fiber.

What is the brand name, can you find these online to check on them?

Well, my down diet day yesterday didn't work so well. I was stressed at work (always a trigger for me) and started munching on almonds. That set me up for the "to hell with it" response when I got to my Mom's for dinner and there were puff pastry hors d'oeurves and the main course was breaded and the side was scalloped potatoes. And dessert. Which wasn't even good, but it was there so I ate it.

The scale is up two pounds today.

Strangely, I feel very chipper and postive today and I'm trying my down day all over. So far so good. Nothing planned tonight that will take me off course, like dinner out, so I'm good. I'm even going to the gym after work tonight.

Liz, I am still running. Building up slowly to see if/where my knee gets inflamed again, hoping if I'm smart about it, I'll be back to my normal running schedule soon. And just so you know, I ran for about 8-9 months consistently before I got "the click" and started loving it. I didn't know I had an inner athlete either.

Teresa - good luck on your new system. When is Vegas anyway? The Wynn looks fabulous!

NO Jen - hi to you too!

Kathy? Hello if you pop in!

If it were me, I'd count them as 5 net grams, there is no such thing as negative net carbs and it looks like they are using European style labelling.

Even at 5g a tortilla though, that's a great carb bargain!

Good morning all. Well it looks like what ever the wraps are they aren't hurting me, the scales are down a bit this morning to 210 almost back to pre-holiday weight. UGH!!!!

Good morning and Happy Hump Day!

Val--I keep meaning to ask---what does your avi say and what language is that? As far as Vegas, I leave next Thursday! Hope your chipper mood lasted and no more 'hell with it' thoughts....I hate those thoughts but get them frequently when I've veered off whatever my plan was for the day.

Jen--glad the wraps are working out and that the scale is going down! So does DS have any kids? And is DD still living with you? How many peeps are you going to have in that house??

OK---back to the grind. Still trying to figure out what I think are glitches in this new system.....although it's just as likely that its glitches in my brain.

Thanks, Actually DS has 1 daughter and DD has 1 daughter and 1 son. Oh and did I mention that I live in a single wide trailer.

That makes nine plus all the fur babies. What the heck was I thinking. But this one hopefully is only temporary.

nana korobi ya oki - Japanese proverb meaning "fall down 7 times, get up 8". Kind of my motto for this whole weight/food thing.

Jen - good news on the wraps! It's really nice to have a bread substitute. When I'm allowing wheat (which I'm trying to avoid lately) I use some high fiber pitas occasionally that were really helpful.

Teresa - Vegas, baby! I'm excited for you! I need a vacation. Away that is, just had time off work, but boy would I love some time away in the sun.

The scale is doing everything it can to make me say "to hell with it". It is still up even though I had a stellar down day yesterday. I expected to see a big scale drop because I figured I have some water bloat and the down day would take care of it. But no..... so, I'm either deluding myself about the water weight or I'm due for a helluva whoosh soon.

Let's hope it's the latter!

Hey everybody,

I made some sf dehydrated cranberries yesterday that were excellent. A bit too excellent.......I "tasted" one and ended up eating way way way too many. Then I went totally out of control. Ravenous hunger and the **I don't give a darn attitude** hit me like a truck.
Lesson learned....no more dehydrated cranberries for me. NOTHING tastes good enough to go thru that
I think they reminded me too much of my beloved gummy bears (yeah I'm the one person that kept that industry profitable years ago:blush and fruity candies.
I overate yesterday and then woke up today STARVING. I've finally filled this bottomless pit of a stomach I ate way too much but all healthy foods. I hate feeling this full!

I plan to eat a light supper although I'm tempted to skip the meal. I've learned that skipping meals sets me up for trouble.

VEE...very cool avi! I hope your whosh happens soon.

TERESA...next Thursday??? YIPPEE! The winn looks amazing! Did you get a good room rate? I've read in money saving forums (I think it was fat wallet) that you can slip the desk clerk a tip in Vegas and get a reduced room rate and/or upgrade. I wasn't brave enough to attempt a bribe but I asked and was given a free upgrade I think it depends on their occupancy.

I'm so excited for you! Do you have any plans yet? Any shows you'd like to see? Do you plan to ride those thrill rides on the stratosphere???

If you are going to shows...are you familiar with the half price ticket places? And keep your eyes out for the little travel book/guides/magazines at the airports and in hotel lobbies for good coupons and reviews of shows, activities and eating places. mmmm.....buffets (gosh I'm such an oinkster...I'm sitting here with a bloated belly thinking about buffets:blush:)

I hope you figure out that new system at work soon so you can concentrate on what's REALLY important...that upcoming VEGAS trip...woooohooooooooo.............

JEN...wowza! that's a lot of people in a single trailer Your family is lucky to have you to count on.

Have fun in Vegas! We stayed at the Wynn in 2004. It's really nice & we had a blast. I'm not much of a gambler, but the shows and people watching were a lot of fun. Is the wedding Vegas themed? Some friends of ours get married by an Elvis impersonator.
Good luck figuring out the new system. We did that a few months ago, and once I got the hang of it, it was much better than the old one. Hope it works out that way for you too.

CONGRATS on the promotion
Thanks Liz! What part of NO are you from? I'm from Metairie. No big plans, just hanging out with family and friends, and of course watching the Saints beat Seattle!!!! My food plans are turtle soup from Mandina's, fried turkey courtesy of my brother, hummus from Zea's and blackout cake from McKenzie's. And I get to go to Mignon Faget to pick out my Christmas present. My mom always bought me something for Christmas from there. She died in 2009 so DH has picked up the tradition.
Where do you live now? (if you don't mind posting on the interwebz) I've been in Houston since 1993, but NOLA will always be home.

Boy, do I ever know that "to hell with it" feeling. Your up day/down day plan sounds interesting. I think I'm going to do something similar when (if) I ever get close to goal, but with carbs more than calories.

right there with ya

Jen - I made a sorta kinda KFC double down last night. I sauteed a chicken breast in butter, then melted a slice of pepper jack cheese on top. I added 1 T of KC Masterpiece bbq sauce (the classic is low carb; 1T was too much, next time I'll 1/2 it) & 1 piece of cooked bacon, then melted another piece of pepper jack cheese on top. I was soooo good! And I wasn't even tempted by DH's pizza.

Gyro salad - yum!

Liz, I love candy of all sorts, gummies and such, too. I wouldn't be able to keep dried cranberries in my house long either. I had some around Christmas because I was baking low-carb biscotti, cranberry orange flavour, but I only bought enough for the recipe.

I'm not anticipating any whoosh tomorrow on the scale. Today was a maintenance day for eating and I'm actually feeling rather full. I don't think I ate too much, I just feel a little bloaty. Tomorrow will be another down day though, so hopefully Friday will be my big whoosh day!

Good morning everyone!

Not too much to report. Busy at work, like Teresa. Stressful, too, but I'm trying to just relax about it. I'm actually plowing through the stuff I have to do relatively well, so that helps the stress levels. I'm very much looking forward to the last week of January though, when all the year end deadlines are past.

Have a great day, everyone!

Heading out to get a mani/pedi since I was too lazy, er, busy yesterday. We probably won't get on the road until noon-ish which will put us hitting Baton Rouge at rush hour. Joy.

Liz - Enjoy! That was the reaction at our house too! You have though we won the lottery!

Finally back.

Jennifer----I know it's kind of late but maybe you'll check in....hope you had a safe trip and I hope you have a fantastic birthday!!

The wedding is not Vegas themed, actually quite traditional....a theme wedding would have been cool!

That double down sounds good! I kept thinking I would try one but never did, maybe I'll make one of my own. With a side of mashed cauli I'm thinking that sounds like a perfect dinner.

Jen---omg that is a lot of people in a fairly small space! Well bless your heart for taking them in. I hope you put them all to work----I would make them do all the cooking, cleaning, errands, etc!!

Val----very good saying, totally agree. I think I've gotten up about 110 times in the last year or two!

I'm hoping there is some sun in Vegas but I saw last weekend that they had snow! I haven't checked the forecast for next week yet but even the 50's or 60's would be OK. Although I will have to say we have been pretty blessed as far as this winter goes....so far anyway.

Liz---sorry about the darn cranberries. This seems to just be a constant learning event doesn't it? It sucks that some people just do it all naturally and we have to keep experimenting and learning lessons the hard way. Oh--and I'm grateful to say that gummy bears are one of the few candies that I hate! Love gum drops and that kind of stuff but the gummy stuff always tasted like rubber to me. So how is it going for you today?

No deals on the room that I know of but that was all arranged by my mom and Aunt quite awhile ago---but they are not negotiators so I'm sure they paid full price. My only plans are seeing the sites and riding the thrill rides---and just relaxing and having fun! I know that most of the peeps will want to go see a show, which is fine, but not really what I'm in the mood for so I may or may not go. I think we are going to go to Hoover Dam, or at least they were talking about it but honestly I doubt we find time to. I will of course have to slip in some time for shopping too----before I blow all my money on the slots!

OK, need to go finish making goodies. Another pot luck tomorrow. Making high carb and low carb treats. Had a 'thank you' lunch today and it was full of carbs and I didn't make the best choices.....well actually there weren't any good choices but I could have easily not eaten and grabbed something later but I ate crap instead. So tomorrow I have a plan so I can at least avoid the sugar and most of the other crap as well. I'm sure I won't be a saint or anything but if I stay away from the sugar I'll be pretty happy with myself.

Oh, and for the low carb treats I made Maria's Fudgy cookies or whatever they're called (from the recipe threads). If you have ever had one of those chocolate fudge cookies with the peanut butter chips in them---that is exactly what these taste like. I need to make some sf peanut butter chips to put in these and they would be just as good---seriously. I've been avoiding making them because really, they have almost no nutritional value, but I figured for a pot luck I'd be safe because I'll probably only get to eat 1 or 2 of them.

from New Orleans!

Avoided the road trip Doritos & had a bunless burger & grilled vegs for dinner, but then had a petit four & cafe au lait. In my defense there was cake & petit fours & I didn't have both

Going to do some shoping this AM, my sister-in-law is going to do my highlights & cut my hair, then meeting my in-laws for a late lunch/early dinner. They want Vietnamese, hopefully there will be something on the menu that's not too bad. I'm not all on plan, but I don't want to go entirely off the rails either.

Happy Friday!

Good morning everyone!

My internet was out yesterday It's funny how I feel really deprived when I can't go online. I can still recall a time when I didn't even own a computer (gosh, that makes me feel ancient).

you had ONE petit four?!?! WOW...that is quite an accomplishment! Those things are tiny and I always take the name seriously...FOUR...means 4 equals ONE serving:blush:
BRAVO on staying strong!

Your plans sound WONDERFUL! Sigh...McKenzie's evokes an automatic drool response. I their cream cheese filled king cakes!

Hmmm...I've never tried Zea's. I just looked and saw that they have a location here. The menu looks great..I'll have to check it out

I live in Birmingham, AL. I love this city! Of course I do miss N.O. The people, the food and the fun. I've only been back twice since Katrina.

I think that the rubbery texture is part of gummy bears' charm

I'd love to hear details! I've wanted to go on those rides but DH is not a ride person. I've been to Vegas 3 times but never went to see the dam.

I've been avoiding making them because really, they have almost no nutritional value, but I figured for a pot luck I'd be safe because I'll probably only get to eat 1 or 2 of them.
mmmm...those sound incredible! Have you made PB chips before? If so, how did you make them?

VEE..

I hope your work day goes well.

Liz, I love candy of all sorts, gummies and such, too. I wouldn't be able to keep dried cranberries in my house long either. I had some around Christmas because I was baking low-carb biscotti, cranberry orange flavour, but I only bought enough for the recipe.

I think I could handle having a limited amount to use in a recipe. Something about QUANTITY of anything seems to trigger me.

JEN...hope you're doing well. Did your DS and family move back in yet?

Has anyone seen the new show, "I used to be fat" on MTv? I just watched the first show. It showed an 18 year old who lost 90lbs in 111 days by working with a personal trainer and dieting.

I don't think that is a healthy rate of weight loss, however, I must admit to being a bit envious of the ability of younger peeps to lose weight so quickly.

She struggled to start working out...I can relate to that. Then she got in the groove and her transformation was incredible! It helped get me remotivated to start working out again.............off to hit the treadmill!

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Morning everyone!

Busy day again today. Year end is not my favourite time of year. I just want it to be over, the extra work is cutting into my forum time!

The scale behaved a bit today, I'm still up from my pre-Christmas low, but I should be hitting new lows (the 160s) soon. They aren't brand new lows, I've been in the 160s before, but not for this past year. I looked at my 2010 weight records, not a day in the 160s, all 170s, 180s. In 2008 I'd hit 158.6! Such a waste! Oh well, it's a lesson on the maintenance journey and I'm on the right path now.

Liz - that's the second reference to Kings' cake I've heard today, I've never heard of it before, it sounds yummy, and probably just as well I've never heard of it before!

Jennifer - hope NO is treating you well! I love Vietnamese food. Lots of noodles and rice, but I'm okay with rice. I try to only have small portions of the noodles.

Jen - how are you? Buried under all that family in your house? I didn't realize you were all sharing such close quarters. I hope everyone gets along and behaves.

Teresa - seconding Liz's request about how to make PB chips! I wouldn't have thought of that. It's probably in the recipe section, I should go look.

Hello ladies....sorry I have been MIA.

I have decided to take Teresa's advice and check into Weight Watchers. I had been hearing a lot about their new point system so I decided to start researching. You are encouraged to eat more fruits and veggies and lower carb/higher fiber grain choices.
I downloaded a free app on my new Android smartphone and it has been very helpful (wwdiary). I need to document every bite that goes in my mouth!! My whole family is going to be eating healthier now.

I managed to eat SO much (basically a week or so on a complete binge) after I went on my little hiatus that I gained every ounce I lost on HCG back. Running out of the drops made me "feel" like a freakin junkie....I thought I HAD to have them....but since I didn't have them I said f it I will just go off for a few days until they get here and then start over.........a few days turned into a month. I weighed 176.4 on Tuesday (1/4) the EXACT amount I weighed the day before I started loading on HCG. As of this morning I weighed 169.8.

The lower carb choices are less points for example a tub 6 oz tub of Fage 0% greek yogurt is 2 points & all fruit is 0 point......a 6 oz container of Yoplait light yogurt is 3 points. We all know how yummy greek yogurt is ......way better than the light crap with fruit bits/flavor in it.

On the old point system 3 cups of air popped popcorn was 3 points----and a soft pretzel was also 3 points. On the new Points Plus program popcorn is still 3 points & the same pretzel is now 6 points. I'm not saying that you cannot still use up all your points with crap, but you get more bang for your buck going with the wiser choices. I am still learning and searching for different blogs for ww friendly recipes. I am not going to go to any meetings ($12/week) or subscribe to their online program($17.95/month) or online/unlimited meetings ($39.95/month).....I am trying to collect all the free info I can

I will check back later to read up on some more of what I missed.

KATHY.. Hey there! I'm glad to see you posting!
I'm sorry about your experience with the HCG drops

You've come so far that I know you will find what will work best for you to get to goal and maintain.

I've also heard about the new WW point system and have considered checking it out. I'd love to hear your input re. the program.

Yes, Kathy, we did miss you! Glad to see you.

Funny, I was just looking into hcg yesterday. Not that I was really planning to do it, but just wondering why everyone was so excited about it. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with it.

I know a few poeple checking out the new WW program. It does look like a good one, with the increased emphasis on protein.

I want to make sure everyone knows that my experience with HCG was good! My experience with the seller/shipping of the drops was bad. That stuff really works....I was NOT hungry when I was doing the program. My mind probably drove me off the deep end, not going off the drops. I went into super *****y mode that they were not in the mail....then I said screw it after a couple of days of phase 3 of the diet & went totally off ANY plan.

The new WW plan is better than anything they have came up with before.....I am enjoying it
