RE-committing in June and July!

We are a group of ladies that have been together for quite a while. I've personally been here almost a year. We are here to support, encourage, and kick each others butts if we go astray. If you need to or have needed to lose over 100lbs, you are more than welcome to join us, just please post often.

Some people post their menus daily and set mini goals. We do not care what type of low carb plan you follow as long as it truly is low carb.

This thread will be for the summer and we are re-committing 100% to the low carb lifestyle.

With that said, get to it ladies! What is your 1 mini goal?

My mini goal is not to drink any form of alcohol for 1 month. That means from today, 05/27/10 to 06/27/10.

I'm also going to do a meat/egg fast for as long as I can stand it. (going for 3-5 days).

Starting weight-with water retention-276

I guess my first goal is to lose 5 lbs.

I will start the meds Friday (getting the script today).
I will do my usual weigh in Saturday and go from there.

To be honest, I already told DH I would make homemade pizza this weekend.
I do plan on having some. I acknowledge this isn't a good choice, but I have been craving it for a while. I will endulge, suffer the consequence then move on. I post this to be honest and accountable. I do know there are lc alternatives..this is a chocie I am making, not a good one but I am

B - meatballs w/ranch dressing
S - EAS lc bar (last one)
L - canned chicken with mayo, piece of dark chocolate
S - jello
D - ????

I didn't post my menu because I don't have anything to eat. I'm starving. I'm about to say F-it and go buy some eggs and go home and cook some Lol. I do have an egg poacher here at work but I really want a fried runny yolk egg.

Hi Ladies- Just got back from one month of vacation. I did really well the first two weeks with LC and exercise. The next two weeks we ate out a lot and I really screwed up. I did get a lot of exercise (i.e. "Jillian-style" with a friend who kept me busy) but I ate lots of the wrong stuff.

My first goal on coming home is to get back to documenting everything that goes in my mouth. If I know I have to write it down, the chances are better that I won't eat something I'm not supposed to have. I'm planning to go to a ladies gathering today where they always have high carb junk. Stating my goal now should help me leave that stuff alone!

Breakfast this morning was:

one slice leftover LC cauliflower pizza
one piece leftover baked chicken (awful-tasting stuff from Albertson's)
2 TBL clam dip
5 pieces spicy pork rinds

I haven't been on the scales since I got back, so that will be my next goal. Planning to do that sometime between tomorrow and next Monday. Forgot to do it before eating this morning, so today is out.

Thanks for listing this thread. Great timing for me!

Raini

WOODS!!!! WA...Wa.. What do ya think you are doing??? HUH??? Get your butt in gear and stay away frm what you know you need to stay away from. 276?? You are my inspiration and my doer now.....until I can get bk on plan.......you will do this for me. 269 and lower......ya hear??????? YOu know how this works.......get er done.....its our mantra...

The thyroid is a huge part in the weight loss struggle. Pple, even doctors don't give that lil gland enough credit. Its one of the important ones. If you 're sluggish, there is no way your body is preforming at its peak....I have a friend that became almost skin and bones because she became hyperthyroid....she had treatment for it....now she is hypo, has gained weight and works out at the gym 6 days a week and walks 5 miles each Sunday. She has never been fat and I think she will work herself to death before she gets fat(she is a bit filled out but not fat) She definitely knows there is a relationship of weight gain and loss when the thyroid malfunctions. I don't use it as an excuse, but I know it makes a difference in my being fat.

Count me in on the June and July challenge. I am going to be accountable for all that I eat, good or bad. I really can do better. I just feel like I am lost at sea and can't find the north star for guidance Its up there.....I am still looking

Raini - welcome back from vacation!!!

TGIF...man I thought it would never get here.....

I have some chicken for breakfast today and we are having a lunch outing for a birthday but going to a place I can make good choices, and it will be.

I bought some angus premade burgers at Walmart last night to grill up over the weekend, oh just thought, I am going to take those chicken sausages out too...I may have to run back to Costco and see if I can find them again...usually when I find a product I like I can't find it again there..one of the cons about Costco

First day of thyroid meds this works

My goal this 3 day weekend is to get on the wii each day.

Mmmm Tx-chicken sausage sounds so good right now. Have fun at the birthday party!

Char-I'm responding in this thread because this is our new one and it's the re-committment thread and I just feel a brand new day deserves a brand new thread. I understand girl about just slacking a bit, that's what I was doing. But I'm back now. We can do this together, we just have to be committed!

Raini-welcome back!

So day 1 with non alcohol down. I'm on day 2. I'm still retaining water really badly, my fingers are swollen still and my feet a bit. But I'm down 2lbs of water from yesterday which is good. I didn't get a lot of water in yesterday which explains it. But, I filled my gallon jugs today and got my 24oz coffee here and I'm ready to shed some water!

I brought 36 eggs to work, I have a microwave egg poacher, and I'm going to have 2-3 eggs for breakfast and depending on how hungry for lunch, probably 4-5. Yep, I sure am eating a bunch of eggs. I thought about an egg fast instead of just meat/eggs, but I'm not sure if I'm going out of town this weekend.

Menu:
B-2-3 eggs, coffee, water
L-4-5 eggs, coffee, water
D-eggs, or meat/salad.

I think somebody is going to start growing feathers!!!

Did you know you can now buy hard boiled eggs..go figure
I don't like eggs, but when DH tries to make hard boiled eggs most times it is a fail...so this is a nice option for him.

I wish I liked eggs more...but if they are scrambled or an omlette then I can eat them

I saw them one time but I wasn't sure how they tasted. I like hard boiled eggs but I had the trouble and I can never peel them without taking half the egg. I know my store down the street has them. Has your dh tried them? I may buy a bag and how they taste. This could be a great great option for snacks for me.

Pre made Hard boiled eggs

Hi Ladies,

Just popping in to share my experience with the pre made HB eggs. I have purchased them, they are not bad at all. We have BF farms HB eggs up here, I don't know if you guys are looking at the same brand. I think that they are perhaps just a little firmer than the ones I make myself. I have used them for deviled eggs and egg salad and they worked out well. I have the same problem as Ms. Woods.....everytime I make my own....I end up losing half the egg when I try to peel it!

Have a wonderful Day!

Beth

Ms. Woods... Good job on your first day booze-free! Once this long weekend is over... I think I am going to try to cut out weekday drinking. It's going to be very hard for me though... I am kind of a heavy drinker.

My mini-goal... is to have one to post by June 1st.

Old eggs work better for hard boiled eggs. "Old" meaning you bought them a week or two ago and they've been sitting in the fridge :-) Ones fresh from the grocery store are notoriously hard to peel.

To boil eggs, put them in a single layer in a saucepan with a lid. Fill about an inch above the eggs with water. Cover, bring the water to a boil. Turn the burner off, and move eggs off. Set the timer for 14 minutes (for large eggs) and leave the pot covered.

After the timer goes off, drain off the hot water and fill the pot a couple times with cold water until the pot is cool and the water in the pot is cold. Let sit for a while, then toss the eggs in the fridge.

Some people find them easier to peel while still warm; I always wait until they've chilled in the fridge a couple hours.

Other than the odd egg, they always peel VERY easily when they're old eggs and cooked this way.

I'm still here and still re-comitted TX. Just been off work and don't really post from home.

I've lost some of, ok a lot of my water weight. Turns out TOM was coming and has wreaked havoc on me this month. I had a horrible breakdown friday I guess from hormones and I guess I was retaining water because of TOM. I'm back down to 268 this morning. I did, however, drink this weekend. But I still lost the water so I feel ok about it.

Haven't been eating much, but mostly eggs.

Well ladies have a great day.

Michelle - as long as you are okay with the drinking, but if you need a kick let us know..we are happy to oblige!!!

I bought DH more of the hard boiled eggs this weekend.

I didn't do the wii, but I did walk the dogs 2 out of 3 days.. This morning I just felt blah..can't even put a name on it, just out of it so I passed. Although I did do some housework like vacumming and cleaning the bathroom.

While I hate to admit it, I think I am starting to have a problem with breads...I ate the pizza yesterday and had acid reflux last night, and now I am wondering if that is why I felt bad this morning. Wasn't the first time I can tie this to breads. Which, isn't a bad thing really for a lc person

I have burgers cooked for this week...some turkey sausage and spinach salads with ham, cheese, black olives in them. So I am ready for an on plan week.

Stopped at Walmart today and I really hesitated down the ice cream aisle..kind of thought since I had pizza why not, and I stood in that aisle for a minute or so thinking about it, then passed it by...was tempted, but I really want to give my woe a fair shot while on the thyroid meds. Heck, this could be placebo meds, but it sure is helping my mental thinking!!!

I'm down some more this morning. No more alcohol for the week at least. I think I'm retaining still because my fingers feel a bit swelled and my feet. I'm sitting at 267.4 right now. I got my water and coffee sitting here with me.

I'm still doing meat/egg. Mostly egg. I'm just not hungry. I'm going to have some egg/bacon bake with butter for breakfast in a minute.

Tx-good job on not getting the ice cream! Bread is just a bad deal all together, even low carb bread. (for me). It's so hot here as well. I hate summer. I'm ready for fall to be here again.

June-how ya feelin?

Char, Nikki, where the hell are you guys?

Menu:
B-coffee, eggs, bacon
L-same
D-chicken?

I'm here, I'm here. Didn't realize things had moved early, doh!

I have holiday and my daughter's birthday coming up and I know that I will slack of and most likely cheat a few meals here and there. I know that's not being fully committed but I'm hoping that if I balance that with being fully on plan and strict the rest of the time that I can ultimately maintain my weight which is what the doctor ordered with IVF anyway. I would rather go up the carb levels and do it properly but my daughter's birthday is too close around the corner. But I'm only cheating a meal and then back on plan rather than cheating for 2-3 days! This IS and imporvement from my prior plans.. lol As for the camping, I am planning to be on plan 90% of the time and just allowing a few smores or a bun or two but nothing major. We'll see how that goes and then depending on how well I can control my desire to binge I will plan on how I want to handle going to the cottage in July.

Exercise wise though I am totally committed to making a 30 minute (minimum) effort 3 times a week (again, minimum). That is a vast change from the past 4-5 months.

I'm going off of the pill next cycle to see if it helps the water retention. *fingers crossed* and will also get back to taking my multi-vits and supplements everyday.

Menu for today:
B - 2 scrambles eggs and cheese
L - salad with meat
D - hamburgers

Exercise: walking to and from the bank with daughter and then another 15+ minutes on the stationary bike tonight.

And stop saying you want the summer to be gone!!! I need it to be hot and sunny for camping and the cottage. I do not miss the snow and the dreary of the winter. Though admittedly I'm dreading shopping for a bathsuit and ultimately wear said bathing suit in public. BLECH!

Can I suggest, balance your choices Charlotte. If you endulge in the smores, pass on the bun. It is wasted carbs and really doesn't add flavor to the delicous meat on the inside does it?

Okay, my experience with hard boiling eggs is that the fresher they are, the harder they are to peel. I like to have mine in the 'fridge about two weeks before trying to hard boil them. It's worth a try, right?

I'll try to get back later to read all the messages in this thread. I don't mean to be rude, but have lots to catch up on today!

I bring a pan of eggs to full rolling boil, cover, remove frm heat and let set for 15mins......then pour water off and let cold water run over them for a bit......then I crack em, roll em around in palm of hands then just pull the peel off.......sometimes the peel comes off in one long string of peeling....... easy as pie.....

Woods, I am feeling good. Was horrible with my eating over the holiday....house full of company....my air conditioner went out Sunday nite, I am sitting here waiting for repairman that was suppose to be here 2 hrs ago.

Today I am back on track and doing quite well with my eating.....but I will get my 4th juicing Friday and it will be back to whatever food makes my system feel best. I am just hoping to lose 5 lbs before Friday.......altho the docs really could care less about my gains. That is definitely a switch from what I normally get when seeing the doctor.

Hope you all remain on plan...git er done
