I am mainly keeping this effort going because I am living so close to the line of becoming a total dependant. It makes me feel awful especially because my birth order is 3 of 3 and usually very independant. The thoughts of becoming so fat I can't walk or drive is absolutely horrible to my mind. Susan you are younger than me and have huge things to live for I sincerely pray your WLS is a absolute success and helps you keep this very serious battle with weight in your control. I am personally interested in your progress. Have you read "The Balcony" well I want to be your Balcony person. To all the rest who follow here I am here fighting for my life. Morbid Obesity is a killer. I can't permanently retreat or quit I have not even a chance if I did. Love, to all ![]()

Carol, I have always said you have to find what works for you. I can't do the carb load thing, probably more from the fear that that one bite will be my downfall more than any actual physiological reason. Our goal is to support each other in whatever way we can and I intend to do that for you and for everyone here. I just want all of you to believe you can do this, no matter how long it takes, because the alternative is weight gain and disability. Even if you are like me and don't lose a single pound in a year, celebrate...because in that time you didn't gain 10, or 40, or 100. It can and will happen over time if you stay with it, don't get discouraged, and keep your goal in site.

Have a beautiful, blessed Sunday, dear friends.
We all have our own stuggles; but it's great to come here for the support we all need. This is a way of life. Not a diet. YMMV and we still love and care for each other. It's great. Do your personal best with your personal plan. One day at a time. Be healthy all! |

Morning everyone......
Kim, I am still looking for my way. Its a tough road to hoe but I feel like I am making a dent. I know I can't even think of eating off plan and hve success. Some pple are fortunate that they can. I am just not one of those fortunate few. For the past several years I have been on and off plan so many times , gaining and losing 30 lbs(use to be 10, then 20, now its 30) over and over again. Mainly because I ate something off induction and it just set me up to totally go off plan. I can honestly say I have not eaten anything I should not eat since July 5th. True its not been very long but its a beginning. I am hoping I can continue with induction amount carbs till the first of the year. Then I will try to add extra carbs and eat more of a variety of foods. Deb, what is hhgc? Carol, never entered my mind you were rounding up followers. I was just stating my failed attempts and how I am trying to find my way. I think we all are trying to find that magic bullet and for me I know there is not one. We have different levels of struggles and my struggle is I am like an alcoholic.. one bite and I am thrown back in to that carby world and each time it is getting harder and harder to climb back on the wagon. We are going to do this.........each of us in our own way. I have made 3 main rules that I will not break this time. 1. not allowing the scale to manage my day. 2. not making excuses for going off plan for any reason. 3. not being prepared. When my children were infants, I was always prepared. Never did they ever go hungry nor did I forget to prepare their food no matter where or when. (remember packing that diaper bag, lol) Never saw it as a problem. I should take as good care of me as I did them. This is my personal and I stand behind it Posting does help. I figure sometimes yall get tired of my ramblings but bare with it cause I am going to win this battle. If it makes ya wanna hurl then hurl......ya might just lose a pound or 2 ![]() Have a great week end........I sure am ![]() Amen, Susan ![]() Have I mentioned that my blood pressure has returned to 115/65 since I hve been eating right these past 2 months?? ALL my blood work is normal. That is the real pay off.

Just to let you know, I've fallen off plan several times in this past week. Gained 5 pounds. Not letting it stop me though. My head has kinda been in a fog with all the bad goings on, so I guess I let my body follow.........that's it. No excuses. Shows what bad choices in food can do in a short amount of time. Better times ahead friends. Have a nice holiday.

A good time to redidicate
Alright ladies (Sharon - pay attention...this means you too).
Tomorrow is the start of a new season. I know it's not fall yet, but it's kind of a natural time when "work" starts again and it signals a time to get industrious. School is starting, for most summer vacation is over and it's a good time to get serious and buckle down. Let's all start next week by eating right and moving. I know for me it's a double whammy since my teacher husband is going to be at work all day and I will have to chase my 3yr old and my 1yr old solo. I am dealing with some intestinal issues that should benefit from more healthy eating as well. I have had chronic diarrhea since surgery and I need to start an elimination diet to figure it out. Sharon - I hope you can find your way back this week to staying on track. I know Grammie C and June are already back in the fold. Has anyone heard from Laura (Pescacat) or Chris (HotTamale)? Love to all Susan |

Hi Ladies/Girls/Sisters
When I am in control of my food I am also in more control of my housework and desk in the homeoffice. It must be some natural thing I do not understand also because I am on this now my sister daughter husband and girlfriend are all on a different way of eating so it is also cantagious. LMHO I Love iT! Susan I am sincerely sorry you have the GI issue. I had it too I could not eat sugar at all or many foods. Not saying that you are. I would get what the Drs. called dumping syndrome. The only help I could find was to take medication "Lomotil" It does work. Laura...Cris... it hasn't been too too long...if you are reading us come on in we need you and your input. Yesterday I did well fasted in the morning I don't like to eat when I attend church. After we went out for Lunch to Bob Evans...I ordered the Farmers Market Omelette ooo it was a treat. Coffee decaf but iced and good. in the evening I had Yogurt 1/2 c and 1/4 c Gerbers pureed Mango and two hrs to control my bllod sugar I had 1 scrambled egg with fennel and 2oz pork diced. and retired for the day. Today HAppy ay to all!! B eggs and asparagus w colby cheese melted on top. decaf coffee L We will be eating at Whole Foods Market I will most likely be ordering salad with chicken or their great tuna salad they make it with a lemon dressing I like. decaf iced coffee. S Seafood at Cafe at the Beach w Lemon unsweet Iced Tea. Have a good closure to the summer season. ![]() ![]() Susan I just watched the DVD Happiest Toddler on the Block and loved it! The Happiest Baby we used his 1st one happiest baby on the block and it all works to our delight. NOW he came out with "Happiest Toddler on the block" we have already seen amazing results. may be worth a try!![]() |

OK I cheated not on my WOE but I weighed this morning and I am down 8 pounds from when I last weighed a few weeks ago so to be honest that leaves me not knowing how much I lost
![]() I am sure some of it has to be from the Sugar Free Fiber Choice drops I had yesterday. I have never seen these in the stores but found them in a closeout store last week. They taste like a SF Orange candy so a really easy way to get fiber in and the inuin works your system. My Birthday is in 2 weeks so that will be my next weigh in even if I have to hide the scale from myself ![]() I never posted yesterdays food. I had Bacon and Eggs for Breakfast and Taco Salad for Dinner. Today so far I have had Bacon and Eggs and yes I am getting sick of Bacon I may add Smoothies for Breakfast next week but for now I am sticking to Meat, Eggs, Cheese with few veggies. My Mother tried to talk me into taking them out to eat since it is a Holiday but I told her honestly right now just being 9 days into it I am afraid I would cheat or eat too many LC foods since I could not have the other stuff. I will either have left over Taco Salad or Steak with the Blue cheese onion sauce for dinner.

Sharon, its a new week and a new beginning. I always hate when I eat off plan and gain and begin again. I wish us all the power to never have to begin again with a gain.
Jann, smart choice to not take them out to eat. Its a very good thing to put ourselves first when we first return to low carb. I am always wobbly in the beginning. Carol I am always into more house work when I am on plan. I just feel better. Not only is the eating better it brings along a bit of energy and well being. Being in control with our eating bring us out of the funk and brightens the day.....don't ya think?? Sharon, I hope your intestinal problems clear up soon. Hope everyone had a great week end. I certainly did. I picked up 2 lbs, don't really know how other it being fluid. I was very good with my eating. I probably need to pick up a few calories but for now, I am ok with everything. |

Hi ladies-
I have been away far too long and decided I need to get back into a healthier way of living. Like some of you, I had an off plan meal that lasted months. This morning I weighed myself and it was all I could do not to cry when the scale hit 338. I haven't regained everything but I've regained almost 50 pounds. I was reading all the posts and have wondered too how I let myself gain all this back after working so hard and being so strict. I have been to a couple of AA meetings with a friend who is struggling with the problem and I, too, thought that if I substituted carbs for the word alcohol I would have been in the right place. June I'm glad your BP and labs are better-congrats! Susan-I'm glad your surgery was a success and that you have lost weight! WTG! Sorry about the GI problems and hope you can solve them soon. Carol-I hear you, my friend and I'm there with you. Congrats on getting back on track and do all you can to stay on track! Kim-Good to see you and also see that you're still maintaining! WTG! You're still such an inspiration to me. I miss you and I still think about the fun we had when we got together for our adventure! Deb-best wishes on your new plan and let us know how it goes, ok? Sharon-keep up the good work! Jann-Nice to see you and best wishes! I was doing some walking up tiny hills over the weekend and was horrified at how out of breath and sore my muscles were just from a little walking. I also heard myself saying things that tell me my self esteem is low when I mentioned to a friend about my surprise that a male was kind and generous "even to me" (as in a fat/obese woman somehow didn't deserve a bit of flirting or a man going out of his way for me). I did some thinking last night and realized once again that being so out of shape, unhappy and down on myself was NOT where I want to be or how I want to live my life and it doesn't HAVE to be, so I'm back once again asking for help and encouragement. I have started induction today and while I know the first few days and maybe even weeks are going to be rough, I'm facing them with hope. I also know that I can't give myself a cheat meal or day or anything, I have to be strict on induction and not go over 20 carbs. So here I am and I want to be held accountable. I'll be supportive in whatever way anyone else needs too **hugs**. --Laura/Pescacat Last edited by pescacat; 09-08-2009 at 06:59 AM.. |

Welcome home Laura. As you can see we have all missed you. Please stay and keep posting. It does take effort and time but its so rewarding. I think we all do better when we post. Don't leave us again........
Carol, I am tickled pink that you are down 5 lbs. I had a slight gain but not concerned because I am eating right. Maybe not , ok, definitely not drinking water as I should. Today I have been much better. Keep up working the plan Carol. Its going to work for us as long as we keep working it. I was thinking....if I had stayed on plan all year I would have at least been 30 lbs lighter........probably more because I ended up gaining 30 lbs. hmmmmm being honest, I probably would be 60 lbs lighter than I am right now. No use crying over spilled milk. Its the present and future I am looking to. Sharon, its full steam ahead. |

Carol, thank you for sending the link. I don't wear dresses. I have to wear flat shoes because I allowed this weight to murder my feet and knees. Shame isn't it
The dresses just wouldn't look right without nice heels.... Plus you can't tell because of the jacket I am holding but I have a belly. Everything I wear has to cover that belly. My biggest gripe with clothing is that they do not make cute tops 28-29 inches long. tsk tsk tsk They make them 25-26 inches long. Do they not realize tall ladies are fat too???? |

Hi Laura! I've missed you too! I'm so sorry that things have been rough. We've all lived those cheat days that wind up being months and months. I unfortunately have found that I can never have a true cheat day. I have days where I eat tons and tons but never carbs. Just can't do it. I'm working hard and not losing, but that's ok. Welcome back, post every day--it does help. Everyone here knows exactly what you are going through!
Congrats on the 5 lbs Carol! Love the new pic of Emelie! June, you look great, I sure wish I was taller! I'm a shorty, aren't I Laura? Hi Sharon, Deb and Jan! ![]() |

Hey Guys sorry I did not check in earlier just been a busy day then I got a headache and took a nap followed by My Mom and Aunt watching Crank 2 we rented in here since I have the big TV. I played online while they watched not my type of movie.
I had more carbs then I needed today had Mac and Cheese with Dreamfields for Dinner My Mom was really wanting it. My Carbs had been under 10 for the last week. Well guess I should be glad I am not weighing until the 21rst LOL Otherwise I had Bacon with melted cheese, Tomato and mayo to dip it in 8 oz Roast Beef and Dreamfields--but both meals I had the Dogs helping me eat not sure if that is good or bad) I still count all the calories and carbs. |

Happy Days are here again as I forge forward I can feel the old determination I had a couple of years ago.
Kim I have many pictures of Emelie strewned around the house she will be my reason to live. she has no idea that her Grammie could do herself in. I have to keep choosing life over pleasure. It is humbling June to feel as you do about what if...I have the same what if we are yet to see if this is the one time we will choose life over pleasure. I don't really know my future. Hope we are consistant all of us here. We must look in the mirror and have a good heart to heart takl with ourselves I would love to see us all closer to our healthy weight like Kim she is so close.
