Losing about 80 pounds through Atkins to join USAF

Hello LCF! Well to start off my name is Aaron and Im from glendora, california. Im currently 285 and 6'2. I started gaining weight in 6th grade, slowly gaining more weight as I aged. Its always been my dream to be in the military. After having a really bad let down when talking to a recruiter Im competly done with being overweight. So I have been jogging a mile daily and Im about to adopt the Atkins diet plan. I ordered the book but havnt recived it yet. So my main question is what to expect on this diet? Also I was wondering what would be a good shopping list for the first two weeks? Thanks in advance!

80 pounds is totally doable. I lost (the first time I tried atkins) 80 pounds. I started in October of 2000 and the 80 pounds were gone by July.

Start by "shopping the perimeter" of the grocery store, but don't forget to bypass the potatoes!

Eliminate your starches and sugars (sucrose, fructose, dextrose, anything ending in "-ose"), eat fresh fruits & veggies, and don't avoid fats (like olive oil, butter, etc). Run like h*ll away from anything with trans-fats (hydogenated......) High Fructose Corn Syrup, and MSG!

READ THOSE LABELS! You'd be surprised to see what's been added to "natural/organic" products.

Buy meets and vegi's. Have a small salad a day and vegi's with dinner.

Smart man. You gotta have the real plan in your head when you're making daily decisions, so it's great to start at the beginning.

Today was my first day. I can defintly feel cravings for things like sugar and bread. So I guess thats a good thing =D The only problem Im having is that I work 12am to 6 pm. So I go to sleep at about 6:30 . wake up about 2ish. So my question is, is it ok to have breakfast at 2 ....eat dinner with my family at 6-8 and then grazing until I go to bed? Thanks for any input

When I lost my weight, I worked 11pm to 7am. I at when I got home and then right to bed. People kept telling me that it was best to not eat so close to bedtime, but it couldn't be helped. I still lost 80 pounds and then started body sculpting. Again, even with that rigorous schedule, I still worked nights and I still ate before I went to bed and I still lost to my goal weight.
