Looks like there are lots of Tennesseans on this thread. I feel like an honorary Tennessean because I went to Tusculum College and eventually got married in Greeneville, my first radio job was in Kingsport, lived and worked 15 years in Chattanooga and attended many Volunteers games at Neyland Stadium (and I'm still a Vols fan)! Hope y'all have a wonderful LC weekend!

4 lb loss!

Well I love you guys! thanks for all the kind words! Letting me rant, letting me cheat. You all are good friends for sure. And you're right. I need you.

I'm back on, even with my cheats. I tell you, my body LOVES this WOE. Makes me wonder how close to a diabetic i am? I dont know.

My hair has definitely thinned so i got some biotin. I just dont like taking pills so we'll see.

Its time for me to dig for new recipes. I've sort of hit a dead zone... Same thing over and over.

Have a great weekend everyone and I'll jump on here in the next couple of days...

P.S. I'm in dayton! 35 north of chattanooga!

I was the morning man for WMBW in Chattanooga for 5 years and we used to get free tickets to the Volunteers home games. That's how me and my children became such huge fans! I really miss East Tennessee in the fall. From Chattanooga to the Great Smoky Mountains to Gatlinburg, the autumn colors are always so vibrant! Hope to get back there some day.

Everyone have a wonderful LC weekend!

Thanks for the head's up about Big Lots carrying the low carb ketchup. It is the same size bottle that I got from Netrition for $4, and I just about bought them out at $1.30 each. Stocked up since I don't want it to be another one of those things that the stores stop carrying once I finally discover it!

I have trees in my back yard that go maybe another 50 ft above my roof top and when you step out on my deck in the fall, all you see is yellow. Its just beautiful here. The drive down hwy 27 every day into chattanooga is lined with a mountain ridge and the views are just stunning every day. I love this state. This is coming from someone raised in the suburbs of south Detroit (Concrete jungle!) but still this place is breath taking to me...

Hello everyone!
I wrote a long message yesterday...by the time I finished it...the board told me I had to re-log in...and then my message was gone!! Grrrrrr.
Had a great day on Friday with my son and MIL at the Great Escape...
Got my coconut oil & flour ~~ Donna: I got the organic extra virgin unrefined coconut oil...I've tasted it right out of the jar and have cooked with it...and I did not notice any coconut flavor whatsoever....I have put a teaspoon in my morning coffee...and I can detect a very mild taste of coconut...but quite frankly, if I wasn't looking for it...I'm not sure I'd taste it. Just my review....for what it is worth. I am really looking forward to playing with the flour....Bob's Red Mill has a brownie recipe that I may try...modify it to LC if needed...but it seems like a good place to start.
Ds has a birthday party/pool party today...so we'll be trottin' over to that after lunch...DH will be out looking at used cars (long story short, DH took his car on Friday because we were going to Great Escape...found that he had no breaks....brought to a garage, and was told it had minimal $2000.00 worth of work required. So, we are deciding whether to put the money into it OR to get another car. We are doing the Dave Ramsey debt snowball....so I am trying to guess what Dave Ramsey would say....the Jeep is worth $3200.00 in good working condition...so is it worth putting $2000.00 into it??)~~
I hope everyone is having a wonderful LC weekend!

Yesterday afternoon we had a church cookout at the lake. Of course there were lots of carby foods like potato salad, macaroni salad, carrot raisin salad, baked beans, chips and dips and we also had hot dogs and hamburgers.

I was determined to keep it LC, so I ate 3 bunless burgers with cheese, some green beans and some salsa. Spent my time focusing on friends instead of food.

Happy Monday!

Had a great, but tiring weekend! Sat was my brother's BBQ. I brought Linda Sue's broccoli crunch salad so I knew there would be something I could eat there. That disappeared pretty quick! Amazing since there was pasta, potato, taco, garden (with FAT FREE...blech) dressing as other choices. So I did well and had a chicken leg, some brisket w/o sauce along with my brocoli salad. I was FULL. I brought strawberries and blueberries for dessert (along with angel food cake for the non LC peeps and home made whipped cream to top it. They also had carrot cake, apple pie, strawberry cheese cake. Lots of people ate the berries and cream. Of course, some ate the apple pie with my whipped cream on top! lol Anyway, I stayed OP and was thrilled this morning when I woke up to FOUR lbs lost this week and I am in a new decade and 80 lbs total lost....woohoo!

Woooooo-Hoooooo FOUR lbs!!! FANTASTIC!! I am THRILLED FOR YOU!! Way to Go!! And great job at the BBQ too!

I, on the other hand,....am UP FOUR lbs this morning ...but I can honestly say that it is the dreaded WATER WEIGHT BUT am pleased to say I am down a size in clothes!!! I am officially in size 18 pants!! So...even though the stinkin' scale doesn't show it....I am losing inches ~~ and I'm in the size 18's to show it I know the water weight will be gone in a few days...and hopefully I'll have a woosh to go with it......we'll see what happens.
Great job staying OP you guys!! Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey All!

Sounds like a great weekend for many of you!

Things are good here. This weekend I had a good LC weekend. Did not cheat when we went with friends to Maccaroni Grill.....normally a big temptation place, but, strangely enough, I wasn't tempted! The rest of the weekend, had a few temptations, but didn't give in....so glad that I'm this motivated. I'm praying it continues!

I walked a lot on Friday and my knees were bothering me over the weekend so I took it easy today and just did a mile.

My scale broke so I can't see how much weight I've lost, but that's actually probably a good thing...I can feel it in my clothes and so I know that I'm losing.

Made a delicious ORANGE TERIYAKI CHICKEN dish today for lunch....it was very tasty and LC, too! DH had it with rice, and I had it without and it was taaaasty! Even DH, who isn't low carbing, liked it!

It was easy....cut up 3 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless) and put in a pan with EVOO and some garlic powder. Cook the chicken and then throw in a green pepper, 1/2 a red onion, mushrooms and a clove of garlic. Then add in some terriyaki sauce, soy sauce and a Wal-mart Brand "Orange early rise" drink to go powder (like the crystal light on-the-go mixes). it was delicious and would have been good over faux rice, had I made any. lol

Hope everyone has a good day!

All of you are doing so well and look at all the pounds lost. Monday is usually my weigh day, but I ate at Captain D's after church and looked up the nutritional info when I got home. Ugh. Almost 100 carb in the fish alone plus 2000+ sodium. I will weigh tomorrow and expect a gain. Been very good today and will continue to be. I feel so sluggish when I eat high carb.

I just looked at everyones stats...you are amazing. If I stick with this group I am bound to stay motivated.

The chicken sounds good.

Denise- We will get a loss next week...water retention is He**.

Last night I decided to make dinner from some leftover fried chicken breasts. I sauteed 1/2 bell pepper and 1 slice of Bermuda onion in olive oil. Then I added about 8 ounces of cubed chicken, some salsa, cilantro, cumin, salt and the juice of one lime. When the dish was just about ready I decided to add some red pepper flakes. I thought I opened the shaker side but I opened the pour side and dumped about 1/2 cup of red pepper flakes into the skillet!! Yikes!!

I was able to scoop about half of the pepper out but the dish was still extremely hot! I love hot food but this was too hot for even me! Even my ears were sweating! I ate about half of it and threw the remainder away. Suffice it to say, all of that pepper had a strange, unexpected laxative effect on my body. It only burns twice! Hope y'all have a tremendous LC Tuesday!

LowCarbChick: Oh...does your chicken recipe sound AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing...I can't wait to try it!

Agnes: WELCOME BACK!! Hope you had a fantastic vacation!! So nice to see you!

Halos: Water Retention kills me every month!! Grrrrrr I used to let it bother me...now, not so much....I know it is water...and this too shall pass *wink* I know I've stayed OP...and moving down a size in clothes tells me I'm 'shrinking' inches...the scale just has a mind of its own *LOL* Thanks for the moral booster ~~ I really do appreciate it!

Moonius: Wow...your dinner sounded great! Even with the extra pepper flakes...still sounded yummy!

Hello everyone !! Hope y'all have a great LC day!

Yesterday's menu:
b: coffee, OMM
l: leftover crockpot portabella beef (recipe from my weekly LC menu ~~ was very good!)
d: chili w/black beans, Soy Slender Vanilla, LC choclate icecream (Bordon's makes a Low Carb icecream...that is surprisingly VERY good!)

Hello everyone... I just found this thread..you all seem very supportive of one another.
I have read in other threads and alot of them seem to be dead with not much support or chatting. I am the type that needs the support and chat. It is just one of the tools that is necessary for me to move forward towards my goals and dreams.
Do you mind if I join you all? I have been looking around..I used to be on atkins years ago and lost about 80 pounds..but sad to say..due to stupidity, health problems, and just plain giving up on myself, I have gained it all back...all the way back to my original start years ago
I started on 6-22 and lost 9 pounds this past month..plus I lost 13" of this old bod too
I have been using the pool as my source of exercise due to some health problems over the last several years. I know this is going to be a slow process for me. But this year I decided my should have's, could have's or wished I had...is over!!! NO one but ME can take control of my life but ME and it is time!
Time to learn to love myself, accept myself and make my choices for myself and my life that will make me healthier and happier.
I would love to get to know you all and hopefully be a support and encouragement to you all as I am sure you all will be to me.
so...I am looking forward to making some new friends and being the best that I can be from this day forward.. that is...if you will have me??

You are doing GREAT!! Good for you!! Holy Moly 13" and 9 pounds....FANTASTIC!!!
I've also lost & gained....and this time the loss is sooooooo much slower than before ~~ but I am older, body changing, etc ~~ BUT like you, I've come to the realization that I have got to love myself as I am, accept myself...and be responsible for myself AND my choices... You are definitely in a good mind set...GOOD FOR YOU!!

Hello All my new friends!!
Thanks so much for the warm welcome!
Moonius yep it is a mouthful..but I didn't think I could have a little ole flimsy name for such a full figured woman! My name is Linda..so you can call me what you like..Lord knows there have been all kinds names thru out this life of mine
torister thank you too for the welcome..I truly am excited about getting to know each of you. I have read the back posts here..but it will take me some time to become familiar with the day to day of each..I am gonna blame it on old age here
sherlocklabs thank you for the congrats on my progress too..I know what you mean about lose and gain..but mine has mostly been gain, gain, gain... but this past Jan. it seems to just have clicked for me..(yep..jan..alot of things have been going on this year and I am just now getting to a point of being able to work on my weight..a lot of health issues)
I know that I do have to stop and take time for myself and quit all this wishing..and start my doing to make it happen! I know it is not going to be easy or fast..but I keep telling myself..that I have to love myself enough to get the job done...after all..I love my kids, my husband and my family enough to protect them with my life..so I should love myself enough to do what is best for me to become healthier and happier.
One step, one choice, one day at a time.
donnagail thank you too for the welcome and congrats..I am so looking forward to being here with you all ..YOU all seem to be doing so well along your journey.
I know that for each of us it will be a learning process along the way..So many things factor into this weight loss thing..
and to make it a success...there will be a lot of things to be processed and learned from.
I feel like you all will be there to help each other on a daily basis with the ups and downs.
So keep up the good work...and have a wonderful day today
srry for the long post..I tend to chat

Good morning Everyone!
Well morning to some...night to others..
I just wanted to let you all know that I would be thinking of you all today..hoping that each will work towards their goals..
Today I will be concentrating on my foods (food is the hardest for me) and getting my exercise in the pool completed..I have promised myself to try to do some sort of exercise at least 5x's a week...leaving me 2 days not to feel guilty or procrastinate
Take today and make the choices that will eventually get you where you want to be
This is one thing I try to tell myself each day to do the best I can with each choice I need to make..so that when I lay my head down each night..I can honestly ask and answer.."I have done my best for just today"
Everyone have a wonderful day today..
Make your dreams come true!
Smile and enjoy your day..be positive with thoughts and actions

good morning everyone!

so i must come forward and confess... while on vacation i was a total free bird... eating anything and everything... i think i tended to all of my cravings... and i mean ALL of them... i have been back on track since yesterday... i feel much better already!

i gained a lot of (water?) weight... i was up to 223 i'm down to 218 already... i cant believe that 6 days of eating off plan made me gain so much weight... but i was stuffing my face... i cant believe how i acted though... live and learn i guess...

the important thing is that i'm back my little mini goal is to be under 200 by the time i go to Disney in september... i think i can do it... i have two whole months... i will try my hardest!

hope everyone is doing well! its been so busy since i've come back that i still havent had a chance to read all the posts!

Happy Thursday!

Hello and Good Morning Everyone!
Agnes: There is no reason why you couldn't/shouldn't indulge while on vacation...holidays & vacations are special times to be enjoyed.
It has occurred to me....and with the words of Linda (aka awakeningheart)....regarding loving ourselves and being responsible for ourselves and actions ~~ which really has touched something in me (thank you Linda)...this is a way of life (our LC WOE)...but by no means is it TABOO to indulge on special occasions ~~ nor does it make you a horrible person....it (IMHO) is perfectly normal and human to indulge on those special events. I have read other threads on this board that have people slamming one another for eating a piece of fruit or perhaps a winter squash ~~ Gosh...that is crazy ~~ first of all, people have themselves to answer to...and they know what they themselves are trying to achieve...there is no reason for people to slam one another...that is why I enjoy this thread sooooo much....more support, no slamming ~~ we are adults and understand that we all have our own choices to make. *getting off of my soapbox now*
Agnes...I am so happy that you had a nice vacation...good for you!! You had the opportunity to 'sow your oats' (sorta speak)...and hopped right back on plan!! KUDOS to you!!
I hope everyone has a great LC day!
Yesterday's menu:
b: coffee w/ coconut oil, OMM
l: leftover crockpot portabella beef
d: bbq porkchop, green salad w/blue cheese dressing, Breyers LC chocolate ice cream, Vanilla Soy Slender
