I don't mind the snow or cold. I just don't like the ice. Ice scares me. I've fallen to many times and when a 350 pound man falls... Its not a pretty sight!!

you can have ALL my snow deb LOL...at least i no longer live in the snow capital of the state, which is farther north on the coast and gets well over 300 inches of snow every single winter...one record winter there was 8 feet of standing snow on teh ground, just little tunnels to get to house doors and the streets were like a maze...wonder if i can find some photos of that

here's a photo that my dad took of the mountain pass that leads down into the coastal town that gets record-setting snowfall...this is the only road in and out of the town and its often closed due to snowfall, avalanches and fog/clouds at the top of the mountain

here is a photo taken at the homestead where my mom and dad live, where me and my sister grew up

CHUGACH_MTS.jpg

and this is somewhere near the homestead on the only road that leads there

and here is a very old photo of us growing up on the homestead...that's dad and me and my little sister at the garden behind our house

FLOPSY MOPSY T.JPG

we had no electricity, no running water, no television and no neighbors...we lived on top of a hill on an acre of property and dad built our house in stages as we grew up...it gets to 90+ degrees every summer and down to 60 below zero in the winter...i remember when i was the age in the photo, i set a stuffed zebra on the back on the couch and overnight it frosted solid to the wall of the trailer we were living in, i remember chipping off the frost with my fingernails...we grew our own vegetables and ate what was donated to us by the christian communes that lived in the area...dad worked as a garbage truck driver and went town (pop. 800) to stay the whole week an hour away to drive the trucks...mom homeschooled us...it was quite different than the 1980s that everyone else experienced LOL

awww thats too bad deb yeah it was a very happy, although isolated, childhood...my sister is the littler one with the platinum blonde hair, it stayed platinum blonde til she was about 6 i think...i was always a dirty blonde color and turned light brown growing up, i decided a long time ago that a darker brown-red suits me better so i just color it years n years....i could be totally gray under there n never know LOLOL

so i had this grand idea of how to clean our leather dining room chairs, that have these cute little buttons poked down in them that everything under the SUN gets stuck in...YUCK!...i moved them all to the back deck, sprayed them with scrubbing bubbles, scrubbed them down with a brush and hosed them off with the garden hose it worked WONDERS

so as the chairs were outside i decided i may as well mop UNDER the kitchen table in all the nooks n crannies...which meant i had to sweep first...which meant i had to brush all the counter crumbs on the floor...and since i did that i might as well clean the counters anyhow...so i did those three things, cleaned, swept and mopped...but in order to mop i had to put teh mop in the kitchen sink, which meant getting rid of teh dirty dishes there, which meant putting all the dishwasher clean dishes away and loading up the dirty dishes so i could put a mop in teh sink without clutter....and then i used a towel to dry the wet floor and since i did that and threw it in teh wash...i may as well start a load of laundry...and since the hose was hooked up out back to wash the chairs, i may as well just water the lawn with the hose anyhow....

SEE how i think?? isn't it awful?? LOLOLOL...

My daughter is busy, busy like you. She's a single mother of 4 girls, with a full time job. Her to oldest have dance lessons nearly every night, the next to the youngest she's 6 is active in the church and has choir practice. The youngest is soon to be 4 and is Autistic.

She's mom, provider, and taxi service all rolled into one.

Oh yea I forgot she's the V.P. Of the local Rotary club, is on call every other weekend as a sexual abuse advocate for the Family and Youth Services for our county. She has spoken at high schools, Penn State University and several other venues on sexual abuse.

I'm not to proud of her.

I'm sure you will like it. I'm not a big fan of the mayo based ones. This recipe has a good zing to it.

Stopping by to say a late hello. I was busy all day trying to finish cleaning my house - I suceeded - I don't think its been this clean since the day the moving truck showed up. Now on to the lawn tomorrow... (I hate yardwork)

Anyway, we cleaned and then went to church tonight and then came home for taco salads. I finished the last of my mending that's been accumulating. I think i'm ready for dh to get here - just have to maintain for a few more days (probably thurs or fri).

So, to keep myself accountable:
B: skipped
L: Chicken breast from fridge
D: taco salad (ground beef/turkey crumbled, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, sour cream & salsa), mixed fresh berried (~1/2 c.) with homemade whipped cream (~2T.)
H2O: I'm guessing about 96 oz. - I forgot to keep track of how many times I refilled but I'm thinking it was at least 3 times.

Hope everyone had a good day. Talk at ya tomorrow. 'night!

BTW: did I mention that I was down to 337 this morning!?! That's 5 lbs. this week - I guess cleaning has some good points.

Hi everyone!! I haven't forgotten you I have had a busy few days. My sister had her baby Thursday so I went and saw him on Friday. That makes 11 nieces/nephews!! And I still have another niece or nephew on the way- due in February- we are a very big family lol.

Glad to see everyone is doing well.
Does anyone have any good fish recipes? I don't like fish, but thought I would try one that wasn't too fishy tasting- so if you guys can give me some suggestions that would be great. I don't eat seafood at all- no shrimp or lobster, nothing!! My goal is to eat fish once a week But only if I can find a good one. Now remember, I live in a small town in Iowa so I can't just go to the store & get any type of fish.

My 4 week weigh in is in 2 days

Hi Jamie Congrats to the parents and the new Auntie.

I'll do some digging for a couple good recipes for you.

If you can get orange-roughy fish, its a very mild flavored fish. A hint a little squeeze of lemon on your fish helps to neutralize the fishiness of some kinds of fish.

RUTH!! girl i don't know what to say you are SUPERMOM!

Jamielyn have you heard about Linda Sue's recipes?? here is a link to her fish and seafood ones.. the one's with an * beside them are okay for induction
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Seafood Recipes

tilapia is a very mild fish and wally world sells it in a box with individual pkgs in it this is one of Linda Sue's recipes

Quote:
RANCH BAKED TILAPIA
6 tilapia filets, thawed, about 1 1/2 pounds
1 cup prepared ranch dressing
2 ounces parmesan cheese, grated, about 3/4 cup

Spread half of the ranch dressing in the bottom of a greased 9x13" metal baking pan*. Arrange the fish in a single layer over the dressing. Spread the remaining dressing evenly over the top of the fish. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese. Bake at 425º 15-20 minutes or until the fish is done. If the top needs browning put the baking pan under the broiler for a few minutes until nice and brown. I broiled mine for 4 minutes. Don't put the pan too close to the broiler element or the cheese will burn. I kept my pan on the middle rack for the baking as well as the broiling.

Make 3-6 servings

* I don't recommend putting a glass baking pan under the broiler so I suggest using a metal pan for this recipe. I lined my pan with heavy foil which I greased with cooking spray.

Oh, how well I recall the panic of running out of TP when I was buying my own!

Sunday is not too hot (yet) in Poway, rocky hills NE of San Diego proper, so we are trying to get some fresh air in while housekeeping mops up a spill - and a few birds work on the birdfeeders. Boy, can they put birdseed away!!!

Probably will shut the doors in an hour or so - as heat dictates - and hope the AC is working today to cool us.

Have a good LC day!

okay i actually did a little more than 15 willingly!! wow ! can't say that occurs every day!
unloaded and reloaded dishwasher Pans in one side of sink soaking
other side is SHINY!!!
rebooted laundry and folded and put away a load

put darts in DS14's polo shorts because they were too big..this involved finding parts to my sewing machine, moving tons of junk out of the way and breaking a needle before i was through BUT i kept at it and followed through..now to yoville for 15!
if anyone wants we can play in here today as well but i can't keep up with Ruth!

LOL i actually didnt do a whole lot yesterday ....just had a few spurts of energy...i was SO tired, even coffee wasnt working i feel better today, i got to sleep a little later...my guy got up with toddler but promptly fell back asleep on toddler's bed while toddler watched one of his favorite movies...

i went to the stores last night and got two pairs of clearance-sale comfy pants to wear walking and around the house...my favorite pair of bright pink pants (see facebook photos LOL) literally wore themselves thin on the tops of my legs where kids sit and the seams went from a teeny hole to ripping apart in less than a day...ahh well...walmart quality LOL

so i got a pair of comfy black pants and a pale orange pair of comfy pants...you know, the kind with a stretchy waist that's not elastic and a little tie at the front...not sports pants, not real pants, they dont really have a category for them LOL

BUT my favorite part is that because of my walking i've lost enough that sizes 8/10 fit well...not just BARELY fit, they fit well and are comfortable...the scale says i have barely lost 2 pounds but i can tell a difference in my body

going to be sunny and warm again this has been an awesome summer...im actually TAN and so are the kids...not just some sort of alaskan transparency LOL
