Dee, I'm so sorry for your loss. Hug those boys.

Hey everyone! Had to search for this thread. I'm about 10 pages behind in reading your posts so hopefully I'll catch up later tonight. Busy day today. Finished painting signs for the parade tomorrow. Going to shower and get dolled up to go to a dinner buffet at a very fine restaurant/supper club. There's a 3 hour session on the economy by an editor from Wall Street Journal. It's being put on by Americans for Prosperity.
Tomorrow will be busier yet if we go on the motorcycle run and drive the toddlers and baby. That's about 7 hours in the van! From there, we'd get our places for the parade. After that is the fireworks. Whew..........hope I last.

Thread hasn't been showing up in my control panel. Umm. Missed ya all.

Wow we are quiet today!
I had a very busy day.
Food so far:
Brunch..veggie salad in a soup plate with mayo and mustard dressing
Dinner..2 eggs scrambled with cheese and onions, 2 sausage patties, 3 slices of tomato, 7 lg black olives.
Water not so good. I want a fresh peach.
I just can't decide what plan to follow. I just can't think of some fruit in moderation as wrong. I am thinking no white food, portion control and healthy fresh foods with heavy protein may be what I do. Any thoughts on this?
HAGN,
Jean

Jean research Protein Power Plan. Fruit is not taboo but is restricted in the amount you can have. It puts emphasis on protein.

sharon good to see you again

hard to type right now, smashed the side of my hand into a sharp corner, doesnt feel too good...took the kids to the jungle gym this afternoon, they were amazingly well behaved until my toddler got a HORRIBLY bloody nose, just streaming down his face out of the blue...it happens sometimes to him...so having to keep him and stop the bleeding he chose to throw a screaming meltdown fit because he couldnt run and play with blood streaming down his face...so then it bled more and after it didnt stop for 10 minutes i packed up all 3 boys and we went home

they played well at home once the bleeding stopped and they've all gone home except for one neighborhood kid still playing with older son in his room....house is clean etc...ive had ALOT of coffee lol

i feel much better I put in a very brisk walk, just under 3 miles tonight so i'm happy...i feel like i accomplished something today...it was a nice walk in the cool air with just a sprinkling of rain...fog settling in on the tops of the green mountains...i worried a bit about running across a bear but i'm walking in a fairly populated area...i'm sure they wander through, i know they do, but if i'm scared i can just knock on a stranger's door and make hubby come pick me up LOL

Ruth- Must have been a bit scary when your child got that nose bleed. I always think the worse when something like that happens. Glad to hear he's fine. I was wondering whether you ever think about bears when you're out for your evening walks. I'd be looking over my shoulder constantly. We have a large Black Bear population in Pennsylvania and occasionally they will wonder into town. I hope you never have to knock on a strangers door to avoid a bear.

Beth- A little pampering is always nice. Little rewards like a manicure, pedicure, massage, new hair style, or a perm are great incentives to use in your weightloss regime also.

Post more often, we like to keep a close eye on our 300+ Group friends. We want to hear about your successes and failures. We want to praise you on your successes. Encourage you when it seems hopeless. And console you in your failures and life's tragedies. That's what this site is all about. So try to post daily even if its only a 'Hi I've lost 2 pounds!'. It all matters to us.

Hi Deb- Since its supposed to be bad luck to wish somebody good luck before they go on stage. I'll do it in the words the actors use, 'Break a leg Steven!'

Have a good day Deb.

Well I did not resist the peach. I have a hard time resisting the bounty of fresh produce in the summer. I will say that that one peach will be like the watermellon I ate a week or so ago...been there done that and I will move on.
Bill when I have more time I am going to the library and check out protein power. Your menus sound like more of a plan for me for awhile.
Hey Miss Beth and Deb and Alaskan.
DH and I are going to the cafeteria for brunch and out looking for a new mattress. Our set is only 6 years old but it sleeps awful. I rest better on the thin cheapy that is in the spare bedroom. We are going to smoke a pork picnic shoulder this afternoon. On the smoker for 3-4 hours to get the smoke flavor then finish it in the oven.
No planned sides yet with the pork but I think roast beef or grilled liver with broccolli salad will be lunch.
Dee I am so sorry about your family's loss. Take care of each other.
See you later,
Jean

Jean- When I was first looking at low carb programs I couldn't decide which one. So I solicited the aid of my doctor. Together we decided on the Protein Power Plan. Actually it was more his decision than mine. He said it was more structured than the other two we were looking.

In protein power, there's no quesswork as to how much protein to eat. Its based on your bodies own lean body mass. You eat enough protein to satisfy your bodies physiological needs. You figure out your lean body mass using your own body measurements and formulas that they provide. They even account for gender. Because men and womens physiology are different. That's why it is easier for men to lose weight than women. And PP accounts for that. Make sure the book is the 1996 or the reprint 1998. PP lifeplan is geared more to later stages of the program. Keep informed of your progress. BTW if you can't find a copy, Amazon has it.

Hey y'all. Quick drop bye - hello. Had to stop in and enter my "official" Saturday weigh in - 333. Dh is adjusting to being home - i'm sure by the time he has gotten used to the noise and chaos it will be time to go back.

Anyway, hope y'all have a good weekend. We're taking the kids to camp tomorrow then tackling the lawn this week (its ridiculously overgrown!). Take care - i'll check back in when I can.

So my work from home assignment ended yesterday, but I start a new job Wed. Working at home I can hang out in gym shorts & t-shirts, but it's back to the office for me, and when I tried on some 'business casual' clothes from last summer... I'm going to hit Target, Dress Barn & Lane Bryant in a bit and hopefully be able to put together 5 work outfits for relatively cheap. And hitting Atkins and exercise hard core starting Monday.

Yesterday I was so busy I only had coffee for b/k and no lunch

B - s/f vanilla breve latte
L - none
D - chicken breast, caesar salad, s/f chocolate mousse

Min - Glad Leroy is home safe & sound. How long will he be home? Enjoy your time together!

Good job! Don't be discouraged - that's a great loss!
A food journal is a fine idea. I'm going to start using fitday again.

Dee - I'm sorry for your loss

Deb - Like my avi? We may go see HP tonight. We're having lunch guests tomorrow so if I get everything done (house is a wreck!) we'll go. The books are always better aren't they?
Hope your son's skit went well. Glad he enjoyed theater camp.

Jean - Good luck finding a plan that works for you. I'm an Atkins girl, but if you follow his carb ladder fruit isn't until week 5 or so. And then it's just berries and melon. Last summer I are tons of cherries and peaches, I just kept my carbs under 20 & I was fine. Not feeling the cravings this year though

my toddler gets random nosebleeds often but not often enough for the dr's to be worried...i also had lots of nosebleeds as a youngster...it wouldnt have been bleeding so bad if he hadn't been screaming his head off because he couldnt play

there are bears all over town here, i'm sure i've passed a few in the woods but i never see them...walked by a few woodsy areas on my long walk last night...doesnt have to be much of a woods, just a little grove between a house and the highway is enough for the bears here...before we moved, we lived in a mobile home that was next to a regularly used bear path from coast to mountain streams...we always had to watch for bears when we'd come in n out in the evenings and early mornings...couldn't leave garbage out no matter how secure...we had this HEAVY wooden garbage can container that the bears just tore apart after a good few tries, knocked it into my car and scraped the paint LOL...had a bear sit on our steps for awhile one night, hubby's brother (of all things!) opened the door and smacked it with a broom so it would leave...there's been so many bear encounters i cant even count...we just live with em and don't bother them, and they mostly won't bother you, unless you have food or garbage

Good Evening,
I ate beef liver and 1/2 cup mayo dressed broccoli salad. The piece of liver was huge and I shared it with DH. It is so much less expensive to get what you need to eat rather than eye candy= too much food.
Dinner is gonna be 2 grilled burgers w/ cheese, onion slices, a couple of tomato slices and maybe a baby dill pickle and mustard.
My water intake has not been so good today and I am swelling from being in the heat and possibly the liver was salty even though I didn't add salt.
We ran around all day pricing a new mattress for our king size bed. Can you believe $900.00 won't buy a semi good one? Needless to say we are going to look farther affield tomorrow. I may put our pork picnic in the crockpot tomorrow so it won't take any looking after. We like to be home when the smoker is running so that won't happen this weekend.
Anyone have any advice about mattresses? We spent $1,000.00 6 years ago on a Serta set at Sam's club and it is yuck to sleep on now. I sure hate to part with that much again just for a mattress but my box springs seem to be in excellent shape.
Bill , I am not sure I would be able to be as disciplined as you are. The fruit issue will be gone very soon as will fresh tomatoes. I will soon be able to be low-zero carb so maybe I will go that route. Thanks for your imput.
Hello all my friends here..you make my day!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes guys we kept it quiet and simple we had the family together at the funeral home last night he will be cremated and then we will scatter his ashes over his "garden spot" out back and then some at his stepson's place at the lake that was his wishes so we will get our life as much back to normal as possible
with him being in and out of the hospital and nursing home for the last 2 years it in a way has made it easier on the boys I guess you could say sort of a blessing that they were able to kind of get use to him not being around
anyway last two days have sucked food wise due to taking care of everyone else but me (that's being a mom for you I guess) so I am back to the basics in the morning

have a good evening every one and remember we now have a contankerous old man up in heaven watching over us (yeah he was one of those grouchy old men who fussed all the time but when it came down to it he was really an old softy who would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it)

Dee- sorry to hear of your family loss, human beings are not made for seperation.

Bill- your menu's continue to amaze me, with my RNY, so many things I do not have a taste for. I have a hard time just drinking water ( need 100 oz daily), I have been on a "shrimp kick"....been boiling numerous bags of them eat them 6-8 at a time...reached a saturation point, could barf looking at one, was living on fish broiled, cannot stand it now...liver and chicken liver sound good.......will try steak again soon.

My sleep is still dippy, I sleep 2 hours ,get up, back down, have had strange reactions to sleeping pills, melatonin......

Love,

Patty Ann
