I did, but I've kinda forgotten it. It's true though, they will endure incredible things that I can't even imagine. It certainly says a lot about someones character, patience and tenacity! My friend hasn't had it as tough as many, but I still am so inspired just listening to her story and thinking about all she has gone through in the last 10 years of her young life (just turned 30) to make this dream come true. I am really proud of her!

Deal! I'll even stay off it (except for Wednesday morning weigh ins) for the full two weeks you do induction!

I'm tired of this frustration over the scale. It makes the dieting harder because it feels like it's useless, but I know in my heart it's not. So, after my regular weigh in tomorrow morning, in the closet it goes until next Wednesday morning.

Morning and Happy Hump Day! Hotties are in da house!

Kim--so how did the b-day go? Do anything fun?

WI--150.8 so up .1. I even had a lot of my hair chopped off yesterday, would have thought that would be a few ounces! Actually, what I've been trying to avoid is that 150.8--spent a lot of time at that exact number last year, so I need to get away from it by next weigh in.

For once I am a day behind....woke up this morning and thought it was Tuesday. So I guess that means this week is flying by.

When do you get back? Tell ya what.....if I'm not at or below 149.0 by the time you return, I'll do induction with you. Now--hopefully that will motivate me to get my butt going because I don't even know how to do induction anymore and I don't want to have to learn!

Sounds like some throwdowns going on! I'm just trying to straighten myself out! Good day today, eggs all 3 meals, no meat or cheese until dinner. Eggs, and veggies. One day down!

Kim~ that is what I was thinking.... a whole lotta challenges!

The scale is not my friend today....but I deserve every pound of it
I was not a good girl for the past week and a half. DH went back to work today....maybe life will be getting back to normal. TOM also arrived yesterday on the way to Riley.....DD had to go back for several ultrasounds and xrays....everything looks good and we don't have to go back for 3 months

I am supposed to be going to a Low Fat diet with my family but....my mind keeps thinking induction to get the extra weight off quicker.... I am going to try and keep things as LC as possible while lowering the fat. I am definitely going to avoid sugar!! I am planning on adding a lot more veggies/fruit and some whole grains......kinda Southbeach-ish.

Morning and Happy Thursday! I Thursdays!

Lisa--OK--that actually gives me about 3 weeks so no problem! (I hope)

Kathy--I'm so glad to hear that Brooke is doing well. I hope she is getting a chance to enjoy some of her summer now! You'll have to keep us posted on how your diet is going.

Val--is that scale hidden well???

Kim--sorry, I didn't know you were struggling. Maybe we could do something to help or motivate ya? After all, that is what we're here for! Perhaps you want in on one of the challenges? I'm always game for a little action to keep my head in the 'game' so if you want to try something else and need a partner, let me know.

Another lonnng day at my desk. Can't decide if these kinds of days are better or worse than days where I'm in meetings all the time.... but at least I can check in here.

Good Morning girls

Teresa~ Did you ever get your bike back from the hottie? I started walking with my mom & I am going to restart somewhere in the middle of the c25k program on my own Mom feels like she is holding me back....I told her I don't have a problem with walking with her and then doing my own workout later. I am SO happy that she is doing this!!!

Yep, got the bike back last Tues.

Glad your mom is getting into this--and bonus for you, you can get 2 work outs in! OK, actually that wouldn't be a bonus to me but I know you like it.

Morning everyone!

The scale is *not* well hidden, DH didn't move it! But I'm not getting on it. Better to just count my calories and know I'm eating well and not let that get messed up by the scale. I did a carb re-feed yesterday. I know it's a controversial idea, but if there is any truth to the idea that hormones like leptin & such down-regulate from dieting and that slows weight loss, then I figure I don't have much to lose by trying it. Theoretically it helps to reset the hormones and get the system up and going again. I counted all the extra calories and while they were a lot, in the long run, it's not many more, maybe I should lose a 1/2 pound less than I would like to this week? That doesn't count water either, but I'm not weighing, so I won't see the water go up and then go down. Hopefully, I'll just see a loss next week. If I don't, I don't know what the heck I'll do. Three weeks in a row of being up a couple of pounds is not right. Not when I'm keeping my calories in check.

I love all the challenges going on! I can't wait to see if Teresa breaks into the 140s before Lisa gets back from vacation!

Kathy, that's so nice of you to do the program with your mom! And I'm sure that your gain will disappear quickly if you are back on plan!

Kim, good for you for having a good day yesterday on plan. How are you doing today? It sounds like a tough plan you are trying to work!

Lisa - have a good time on vacation. Are you gone already or leaving this weekend?

Teresa - better watch your protein, water and all the little things. You have a vested interest in losing that pound over the next two weeks!

Hi girls

Kathy - glad to hear DH's surgery went well and that Brook is healing nicely.............I love good news

Val - I know you count calories but do you have a limit for your carbs?
I leave for vacation in the next 4 days...can't believe it is that close already

Teresa - I am sure you can lose that pound in three weeks.....and if not you NEED to do induction again

Kim -

NO---it's actually 1.8 or more lbs in less than 3 weeks! That might sound easy enough but my net loss for this month is......NONE! I've actually gained .2 since July 1. So, this is going to be a bit of a challenge for me, especially considering I'm not willing to do anything drastic. The binge monster has been quiet for awhile now and I'm not willing to do anything that will wake it up!! So--this weekend will be focused on lots of food prep and planning so I can finally get the protein down, fat up, and hopefully get on with some losing. I've managed to lose a couple hundred lbs without actually doing a proper induction---I'm just hoping I can lose 2 more so I don't have to go through that experience!

Val--good job staying off the scale! It gets easier everyday--just those first few days are tough.

I have been taking on-line classes (for requirements for work) all afternoon. My contacts are totally glued to my eyeballs and I just want to go home. One more class then I am outie!

Nooooo! Although they might have just been making comments behind my back! I don't think I ever would have realized it but I took a 30 min walk at lunch and felt a bit 'sticky' so I stuck my hand in my blouse and checked out the pits (how dainty of me ) and yep--no deodorant. I didn't stink to me though--so hopefully I didn't stink to anyone else!

I have been starving all day, not sure exactly why cause I ate a good lunch. Maybe sitting around all day at the stupid computer did it. So, I ate dinner the second I got home and had cauli sausage casserole, 2 lc english muffins w/butter and 3 peanut clusters! Well, I'm full now. Hmmm, it's no wonder that I'm not losing anything. I really have to get my buns in gear or I really will have to do induction.

Lisa, I'm not keeping to a set carb count right now. I don't eat refined carbs or sugar though, for the most part. I wil have a low-carb pita or tortilla occasionally, but even that's not often now. No starchy veggies except sweet potato occasionally, no sugars, no fruit other than berries (and sometimes cherries lately, they are in season and my favourite fruit), but my carb count is pretty moderate, not low. When I plug the numbers into Fitday as a random check on my calorie counting, I generally find my carbs are 70-100-ish net. I work out a ton though (training for a half marathon, running 5 days a week as well as doing weights 2x a week and one more "fun" fitness class), and find I can handle that amount of carbs right now.

My DH (Jim) lost 45 lbs on a very low calorie diet about 6 years ago (before I met him). When his weight creeps up, he does a crash, two week, very low calorie (and low carb) diet. He's on the verge of doing one again, probably in the next week or two. When he does it, I usually take advantage of the fact that he doesn't want to eat out or eat anything off plan and do a strict LC with him. I will definitely do a strict low-carb (and low-cal) with him this time, but it's only for 2 weeks, and then back to my moderate calorie deficit.

Teresa - I hate when that happens, it happened to me this week, too. I did get stinky though (after a run). I hate it when I offend *myself*! LOL!

Good Morning everyone

Val~ You are right, I am probably doing close to what you do right now. I have switched to low fat dairy & have been eating a lot of chicken breast. I did switch to light salad dressing which has a lot less calories & I have only been using the lower carb ones. I have had a LC pita every day this week. When I get a couple more pounds off I am planning on adding a few more fruits/veggies and steel cut oats. Basically I am doing what I had planned to do on maintenance but with lower fat to help reduce calories.

Teresa~ When Brooke was little I used to work a part-time job in a book warehouse.....I don't know how many times I rushed out and forgot deodorant It happened SO many times I ended up putting some in my glovebox in my car

I have a family reunion this weekend again....last weekend I was on a eating spree at the reunion....this weekend I am gonna be good!!!! I see this side of the family more often and I know everyone will be watching to see what I am eating....which is a good thing right now

Does anyone have any big plans for the weekend? Brooke wants to go school clothes shopping.....school starts August 19th

Good Morning--it's Friday!! And, 5 months from today is Christmas Eve!

I brought a spare thing of deodorant to keep at the office, just in case, so everyone is safe now.

Val--I pretty much eat in the 70-80 net carb range as well, just not low fat nor low calorie! I can do 50-60 and feel fine, but below that I start feeling crappy and depressed.

Kathy--no big plans--thank God--I need a break. Out tonight, the office tomorrow, then grocery shopping and a serious cook/bake-athon on Sunday.

Now--I want to know who decided that leaving full size candy bars on our desks this morning with little thank you notes attached to them would be a nice thing?! And why is it that the basket of miniture candy bars and chocolates sitting on my desk doesn't tempt me, but the candy bar does?

I took this afternoon off since I am going to be here most of the day tomorrow completing staff reviews. Actually though, by the time I get out of meetings it will probably only end up being an hour or two earlier than normal. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.
