Morning and Happy Friday!

Kim--the menu looks pretty good.

Kathy--have fun at the zoo!

Lisa--I'm the same with nuts, I like them (well really I only like peanuts--the others I don't care much about) but luckily don't have a problem with overeating them. However with pb I typically am a daily eater of that, just not lately. I agree the natural kind is not as addictive so it's the only kind I buy. If I bought the kind with added sugars in it I would probably be eating it by the spoonful!

Val--so have your Fridays off started yet?

Have a good one ladies!

162.8 lbs on the scale this morning! Yay me!

I was going to try to stay off the scale for a while, but you know what the road to hell is paved with! The diet thing is going well. I'm afraid to jinx it, but I seem to have hit this sweet spot where my calories are coming in around 1600 consistently without too much effort or deprivation on my part. I've found a general rotation of meals and eating that is satisfying enough and low enough calories to have me losing weight consistently again. I'm not feeling too much like I'm on a diet and going hungry or deprived.

I'm off today, my Fridays off for the summer have started. I'm wondering what to do today. I'm actually thinking I might head to the gym. It's been a while since I've gone and with the extra time, I can putter around and try out new things. The dollar store & grocery store is in the same little mall, so I can run a few errands when I'm done and come home and putter around the house for the afternoon. I'm thinking of making a batch of spring rolls this afternoon for us to make this weekend. I really enjoyed those. I might even make a couple to try as uncooked, like salad rolls. I also am planning to meet Jim at his office at lunch and we'll go for lunch together. Should be a nice day.

I don't know what it is about nuts, maybe the savoury, saltiness of the them, that makes them too more-ish for me. Once I start eating them, I want to continue. Of course, that might be different if I didn't eat salted nuts, but then what would be the point of eating them at all?

Kathy - have fun at the zoo!

Kim - looking good with the induction food! I always find going really low-carb, like induction, is like magic for getting the carb cravings flushed away. When I'm coming off a bad time of overeating carbs, I don't worry about portions, I just eat as much as I need to of induction foods to keep my satisfied until the carb cravings pass.

Teresa - I try to buy the diet cola that is sucralose sweetened. It's harder to find in Canada, so sometimes I end up drinking regular Diet Coke with bug spray. But usually, I am getting the slightly lesser evil.

Well, off to start my day. This feels so weird being off work but it not be a weekend!

Lisa - just out of curiousity, how do you do coconut bark with peanut butter? I might want to try that. I'm having Atkins Endulge bars for treats occasionally, but I like the idea of a treat that isn't chemical filled!

Val
- to be honest I only recently tried the CO Bark because the thought of it used to make me .......what i like about it is that I cannot over eat it .....too rich...............I just warm the CO in the microwave and add the PB, cocoa, vanilla and sweetener. and mix with a fork..............It mixes very easily

Lisa---looks like I should figure out what the heck facebook is so I can see some more pics!

I tried c.o. bark w/pb and without pb a couple of years ago---it went straight into the trash!

Val--wow, awesome job on the scale!! Now, if we are still on the same cycle know that mid-cycle is coming and I think we've discussed before this is when we gain..... I have to keep reminding myself of that because I often become an emotional wreck during this time, have the munchies and/or am starving, and gain even when I don't give in to the munchies/hunger....then a few days later I realize I'm ovulating! So--I'm trying to keep on top of that now.

Enjoy your day off!!

I made coconut oil bark once, it wasn't too bad. I might have to try it with peanut butter sometimes.

Yes, I just finished my period, so in another 7-10 days, I'll be ovulating again, so I will have to watch for that. I do gain weight while ovulating for sure, and I do tend to "forget" and get uptight about it, so I'll have to watch that this time.

I had a great day off, thanks! I made it to the gym, met my hubby for lunch, made a lower carb version of sweet & sour pork for dinner, and got in a good run. Damn, sometimes I wish I didn't have to work at all. This was so much nicer.

Kim---nice job on the menu! And, it looks like you got the point about cheese only 1x per day! So how is it going with only 1 soda per day?

Val---ahhhh, that sounds like a lovely day! I always have wanted to have the option to work four 10 hour days---it would be so nice to have the extra day off. However, since I'm saving my time off for surgery---if that doesn't happen I will probably be doing the same thing as you this fall and taking a day off each week. I'd prefer surgery but if that can't happen then at least I'll have all the days off to look forward to!

Night all.

It's almost 2am, can't sleep and I'm *hungry*. That doesn't happen very often and I never know what to do. It's been hours since I last ate so hunger would be normal, but I should be sleeping and not eating. I had 2 sugar free jello puddings, 60 calories each. They filled me up, so I'll try to head to bed again and see if I can sleep. I just hate having to start my day tomorrow recording the extra calories I ate the night before, makes me feel like I'm starting in a deficit.

I'm planning to stay off the scale for at least a couple days again. The scale reading today was virgin territory (at least recent virginity, haven't seen that low in a long, long time) so I figure I'm due for a bounce up. That's the way my body and the scale messes with my head. I'd rather not watch it.

Morning!

Val--hope you made it through the night OK! When I'm hungry and it's not time to eat--I just don't. That worked really well during most of my losing days because honestly I just didn't trust my body/mind and hunger signals--so I always figured if I had eaten enough at meal times and it was well balanced--that I just needed to ignore my hunger. Like I said, that worked really well when losing the majority of my weight. Now I think it's biting me in the butt! Half the time when I eat outside of meals it ends up in disaster. I think it's because I feel like I'm doing something wrong and then get--as Kathy calls it--the f-it attitude. At some point I need to start trusting my body and eat based on hunger--not on a schedule. I have gotten better at figuring out what and how much I need to eat at meals to keep the hunger away for the most part, but on days where it just doesn't cut it I need a new plan!

The weather today is beautiful! I think it's supposed to get to the low 80's. Right now it's probably only 70ish with lots of sunshine and a little breeze. I love these kind of days. Went for a jog this morning and I really enjoyed it. There's something about jogging on a weekend morning when the weather is just right that I love--any other time it's just a 'task' that I want to hurry and just get done with. I think I will actually walk to the grocery store in a bit since I don't have much to buy/carry and enjoy this weather.

I went to sleep and was fine. I'm having a bit of a hungry day today, but I've had a series of lower calorie days, and that's sort of a pattern, then I get a hungry day. It would be completely manageable *except* I'm supposed to go to a stagette tonight for a woman I don't even know other than having had dinner with her, her fiance, my DH (the guys are friends from highschool) and me once a couple of years ago. Then she was at my wedding, but I never really spoke to her or remember from the wedding. Anyway, not only will I not know anyone, but it's at a sports bar and they are having pizza & wings. Yikes! That will be a calorie buster. I either look like a partypooper and have salad or break my diet. Great choices.

My other option is to eat before I go so I'm not really hungry and try to avoid the food. I'm not great with that, I tend to want to pick at the food anyway, but it's a possibility.

I did some research with Fitday and online and figured out what I think the calories are for chicken wings. I can afford to have a decent serving of them. I'll pack some low-cal salad dressing and maybe order a salad with them. It will be a high calorie day, but not a blowout. I do believe in free meals, where you eat a normal sized meal (no bingeing), allowing yourself some things that you don't regularly eat, I think they are psychologically helpful, so I'm going to let myself have a free meal, enjoy my wings, maybe sneak a fry or two, count it all, and stay off the scale for 3 days because you *know* this will cause water retention and a scale bounce.

I actually snuck on the scale today, after a run (think dehydration here) and saw a 161.4! I'm *not* getting emotionally attached to that number, it's dehydration talking. Last weigh in was 164.4. I'll actually be very, very happy if I can hit 163.0 this Wednesday. I'll wait to actually expect to see 161.4-ish for real in a week or two after this one.

159 is *normal* weight for me on the BMI scale. And I haven't been in the 150s since I was in my late teens. If (when?) I hit it, it will be a huge milestone for me. It's not my ideal weight or final goal, but it will be a very, very, very big deal for me.

Morning!

Val--you're kicking butt girl!! Who knows, maybe that 161 is yours. And with your determination you WILL get to 159 and beyond if that's what you want! Hope things went well with dinner last night and more importantly that you had a good time!

Lisa--does that mean I get to pass over the title of scale ho??

Kathy--how was the zoo, doing anything else fun this weekend?

Kim--how did induction go yesterday?

I got my bike yesterday!! I was totally like a kid at Christmas--totally! I was so excited and couldn't believe I got it so soon, and on such a beautiful day and that I was actually here when they delivered it---it all seemed too perfect. However, the excitement ended after about an hour of trying to figure out the few little things that needed to be assembled--which I couldn't figure out. I'm usually really good with that kind of stuff and barely have to even look at instructions---but these were beyond me. So--just like a kid at Christmas who gets this great new toy but no batteries--I was very sad.

Have a great day everyone!

It went pretty well.

I had:

3 eggs scrambled
caesar salad with chicken
Sirloin with salad
I did have some pork rinds and 2 sodas. My DH ordered for me at dinner while I was in the bathroom, not knowing my current restriction.

Morning everyone.

Scale Ho. Okay, I'll take the title. Actually, the title is taken, sort of, have you ever seen this blog? http://www.scalewh*re.com/ But I'll be the less classy counterpart, the Scale Ho.

The scale is up to 165.0 this morning. I'm strangely unaffected by this though. I knew it would be high. I went to the gym on Friday to do weights and I *hurt*, and that always means retaining water. Then I that pizza, wings & ice cream Saturday night at the bachelorette and the bloating is worse on the 2nd day after (today). And I hit a low Saturday (saw a 161.4 on the scale), so that means a bounce up for a while. So, 165 seems about right today. I'm hoping it gets down to 163.0 for Wednesday, my weigh in day, that will put me right back on my hoped for schedule. If it doesn't, it will work itself out by the following weigh in Wednesday, I'm sure.

I'm targeting to hit a sub 160 (by whatever tiny margin) July 29th, which would be 1.5 lbs a week for these last 3 weeks of July. I think it's reasonable.

I'm only working a 3 day week this week. Thursday is my birthday, which we get off at our company, and then I have my Friday day off. I have a crapload of work to do though and crap is hitting the fan in various things that is making work life far too stressful. Yuck. I'm just going to try to get through it.

Morning Lisa

I am dropping it off to some guy tonight who is going to put it together for me. He works part time at one of the bike shops but all of them are full for the next week or so due to Ragbrai. Ragbrai is a huge 7 day bike event across the state. People come from all over the country---actually all over the world for it--so the bike shops are busy. The Fed Ex guys who delivered my bike said he had been delivering bikes from all over the world this last week for the event so he assumed I was going on it--HA! Anyway, this guy at one of the bike shops took pity on me I guess and said he would take it home tonight and assemble it for me and bring it back tomorrow---and for less than half the cost of the shops. So assuming he does it right, I think I got lucky!! Oh--I'm dropping it off to him where he works which happens to be right on my way home--so another way I got very lucky. Unfortunately it's going to storm tomorrow evening but the rest of the week is supposed to be beautiful so I plan to get some riding in....assuming I remember how! It has been a lonnnnnnng lonnnnnnng time since I rode a bike.

Val--glad you are taking the scale thing in stride. Sorry about your crappy week at work--but at least it is a short one!!

Teresa, I'm excited for you and your bike! You'll have fun on it.

How is everyone doing?

Kim - how is induction going? Funny how simple induction menus look, isn't it. But all good food.

Lisa - you've been quiet about reporting your food/diet stuff, how is it going?

Kathy - how are you, we haven't seen you for a day or two?

Teresa - have fun at work - ugh. I think we both need to win a lottery and get out of the rat race.

Val~ I had a hungry, lazy weekend not a good combo
I guess the worst thing I had was popcorn on Saturday & some PB....too much food in general. Yesterday was a good day eating wise and so far so good today. I am thinking this weekend hungry thing was cycle related....hopefully it is over!!!

DH is having gallbladder surgery on Wednesday morning so he will be off work for a week or so. I had mine out about 10 years ago....it wasn't so bad. I hate dealing with a sick husband....hopefully he will heal fast

On August 19th my kids start back at school...Brooke will be in 7th grade & Spencer will be in all day Kindergarten......I am not sure whether I am gonna look for a job or enjoy some me time & start exercising and losing weight again

Teresa~ Have fun on your new bike....I should get mine out of the corner of the garage!

Kathy is back!!! Your weekend eating doesn't sound too horrible to me if pb and popcorn were your worst sins. As far as the job goes--have you thought about part time? Then you get some of the benefits of working and not working.

Val--yes, let's hurry up and win the lottery! First things first though--Kathy and I want full body tucks....then we get to quit our jobs!

WARNING--LC FOOD PORN

Have you guys seen this?

Marshmallows and Rice Krispie Treats (w/pics)

I'm actually not that interested in the rice crispy treats but I do want to make the marshmallows. One of my healthier childhood favorites was fruit salad with strawberries, bananas and mini marshmallows. I've done it without the marshmallows and it's good--but not quite the same! If they're any good I also have some other ideas for them. Now I just need to remember to buy some xylitol.

Kathy--is DH having the gb out laproscopically? Has he been having problems or did they find the problem through some other issue? For both of your sakes I hope he has a quick and easy recovery!

I saw that today, too! Damn that girl, she's too good at this low-carb treat stuff. I should take her off my RSS feed. Luckily, my natural laziness usually wins out and I'm just tortured by wanting the stuff and too lazy to actually make it.

Kathy - Popcorn & peanut butter don't sound too bad to me either, but I know how you feel. I'm feeling guilty for eating an ounce of almonds this afternoon that I hadn't planned on. LC, within my calorie budget, did the trick of turning off my hunger and I still feel guilty. Yes, I know I'm insane around food.

And when we win the lottery, we can all go under the knife together so we can keep each other company in recovery. I need a butt lift, still!
