Kathy - Two hours of watching? Hopefully it was enough to get Brooke excited about trying it next time, though!

Most of the team members there were boys & they were playing pretty rough. It is off season and a lot of the team members were missing, so there was not a lot of structure to the practice. I'm sure that she was intimidated a little.

Vee~ Congrats on the big loss!!!

Woohoo--looks like you were both big losers this week! Congrats!!

Kathy--so what were Brooke's impressions of the soccer team overall?

Val--hope the audit goes well. No matter how squeaky clean things are I always find audits of any kind a pain and basically a business interruption!

I forgot Midol has caffeine in it--plus I drank a cup of tea w/caffeine--I am now awake!

Oh yeah, and I'm debating on weighing in on Saturday because it's the 1st and also because the bloat should be gone by then.....but, I'd probably be wise not to, just in case! Who knows what I'll end up doing!

Teresa~ Is your morning caffeine still working? I say caffeine has no effect on me....I could drink a whole pot of coffee & sleep 9 hours right afterwards....but I guess I never really go without it to disprove myself. DH is looking over my shoulder and said I could sleep no matter what!

Yes--unfortunately the caffeine seems to still be with me as I'm not sleepy at all....but I'm really tired--if that makes sense! I have always been pretty caffeine sensitive but I never really drank much until college so maybe I didn't develop a tolerance to it or something.

So did you guys go to the ball game today?

No, it was raining when it was time to go. I didn't feel like loading/unloading Brooke for a possible rain out. She is having a friend spend the night tonight.

Well, hopefully the girls have a fun night and aren't too naughty!

OK--the sleepies just hit me so I'm going to go get ready for bed and see if I can actually sleep.

Night!

Wow, you go to bed early! I hope you got your sleep though. I drink diet coke by the boatload, so I've always felt caffeine didn't affect me, but lately I'm thinking that maybe it does. When I switch to caffeine free diet coke after 5pm, I seem to get to sleep easier. That said, I'm out of caffeine free and am drinking the full octane stuff tonight, so we'll see.

Scale ho that I am, for fun, I got on it before & after my run tonight (where I sweated buckets, I was literally *wet* all over afterward, droplets of sweat were visible on my arms & legs). I sweated out about a litre of water! After the run, my weight was down about 2.5 lbs from before the run! I'm not expecting that to keep though, I know it was dehydration (but it was oh, so close to the 150s that I still got excited seeing it). I know. I'm bad. I don't know if I'll be able to stay off it for Lisa's induction/scale challenge when she gets back from vacation!

Morning!

Yeah, I do go to bed early on weeknights, usually about 10pm. But 5am comes very early and I almost always wake up long before my alarm. I did sleep great last night--about 8 hours and only woke up 2x. When I'm sleeping well I typically get 6 solid hours a night and function just fine on that so 8--even waking up twice--is a real treat!!

Perhaps you'll see the 50's next weigh in?! Another reason I better get my buns in gear--you all have a few inches on me (height wise) and are going to weigh less than me! So let the games begin!

I decided I'm not going to weigh on Saturday but I will take measurements as I can tell in the last week or so that my clothes are fitting much better. I've never been a really big believer in set points, and reality is that usually I screw something up which is what keeps me in one spot---but I'm kind of starting to think that my body really likes the low 150's and gets a little stubborn when I'm in this range...so I don't want to be disappointed by the scale. If there is such a thing as set points, then the good thing is there could be worse ones for me to have. Whenever I gain past the mid 150's I can usually get back to 151-153 relatively easy when I just get myself back under control so that is a good thing.

Teresa - For some reason, I thought you were the same height as I was. 5'7" or thereabouts.

I ran stairs with my sister & her trainer this moring, it was fun, well, as fun as stairs can be. A good workout, I'm waiting to see if my legs & butt are sore tomorrow.

161.6 lbs this morning! I'm sure I'm at the bottom of the whoosh though, I think the best I can hope for is to stay in this range for a bit. That's okay, I'm feeling good about where I am right now.

Morning--it's Friday--woohoo!!

Val--well, I'm not sure anymore how tall I am! I have been 5'5" since I was a teenager but I may have shrunk around 1/2 inch in the last few years, not totally sure. The Dr's office tells me something different each time and I always make sure to take my shoes off before they measure so I have no clue how they can come up with anywhere from 5'4" to 5'5.5"---even when I ask them to do it a second time.

Congrats on the new low!!

Sleep sucked last night. I got about 3 hours, then awake for over an hour then slept about 2 hours more. I still don't have the protein dropped down far enough, and I'm pretty sure I'm in deep ketosis---so I don't know which the culprit is. Hopefully this weekend I can get it straightened out. It all definitely tells me how sensitive my body is to what I put in it!

Teresa - I hope your sleep improves. That is tough, not getting enough. I woke up this morning and found Jim wasn't in bed. He woke up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep for over an hour, so he ended up on the futon in the basement and finally fell asleep there for the night. I find switching beds helps me, too, sometimes. If I can't get to sleep, sometimes I go sleep in the bed in the guest bedroom and it helps.

I made a newbie mistake yesterday. I drank regular soda by mistake. I was trying a new flavour and thought I grabbed the diet, and picked up the regular by mistake. I drank 3 cans of it before I checked the nutritional info wondering if there was caffeine in it and couldn't believe when it started out "sugar/glucose". 540 calories worth of pure sugar! I'd been having one of my hungry evening where I just couldn't get satisfied with food and wondering why. Now I know! Oh, well, I'm not freaking out about it, and I'm not a newbie, so I don't think I've wrecked my diet and have to start over or anything silly like that. I'll just have to deal with hunger & cravings today, likely.

And a weight spike. 164.4 lbs this morning, but at least I know why and I'm not concerned about it. Though my next big milestone is to see a 159 on the scale and be in the next decade of weight, I know my body well enough to know that it will have to spend some time in the lower 160s getting used to it here before it's ready to move on, so I'm going to try to remember that and relax about fluctuations in the lower 160s of weight for a couple weeks.

Morning!

Val--I made one of those newbie mistakes--that I never made as a newbie!--at the beginning of the year. I bought some Tasty Cakes and looked at them about 10x before I bought them because they definitely aren't the healthiest choice but I finally decided to splurge and get them--after reading the label, ingredients, macros, etc. several times. At some point soon after eating one I ended up on a hungry/eating spree. I didn't connect the over eating to it at all for some reason. A week or so later I was cleaning out a cupboard and found them---I actually didn't like them much and stuck them away. I looked at the macros again and it ends up I had picked up the full sugar ones.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Good Morning Miss Teresa~ How's your weekend going? I went to Target again yesterday and they still have my raspberries for 3.74/ 40oz bag.......I bought 5 bags I need to clean out my freezers and make room for the good stuff. I know there is a lot of crap in them that no one is gonna eat.
I went to Big Lots and ours did not have ANY Yogi Tea

Only 2 1/2 weeks until the kids start school and I start exercising a lot more. Now when my mom comes over to walk the kids think they can go for a walk with us.....that never turns out very well.

Sorry I missed ya! My light is pretty much always on when I'm home, I typically forget to log out even when I run errands, etc.

I've had a very busy and strangely productive weekend. Lots of organizing and reorganizing--which sadly makes this place look even more like a mess as I have all kinds of odds and ends laying around that need to go somewhere else. Oh well, it's a work in progress.

Getting ready to go do food prep for the week. Already have a pork tenderloin with carrots and radishes in the crockpot and it smells great.

Sounds yummy
This is what I've been doing......picking veggies in our garden. I can't wait to try the brussel sprouts, we haven't planted them since we moved into our new house and at our old house it sold before they were ready

Our squash are not ready yet...it looks like the yellow & spaghetti squash plants survived and the zucchini one did too......no sign of the delicata

Darn about the delicata....but it still might be too early? I'm thinking you don't see them in stores until like Oct, but I'm not sure on that.

Zuchs--yum! I'm hoping someone brings me some from their gardens soon. Typically people bring in their excess produce to work to get rid of it so I'll hopefully score some. I've been offered tomatos several times but, I don't like them.

Hey--question on toaster ovens....where the heck do you find pans small enough to put in those things? Or can you just use a plate? Also--is it strickly for heating up or toasting something, or could you actually bake something in them? So far the only pan I have that fits is a mini muffin one.

I'm here. I was here this morning but didn't want to talk to myself either---been doing enough of that lately.

Don't worry--Dr A suggests switching up programs when you need a change (well, not like every other day like some do but after periods of time) so I don't think he is rolling over in his grave or anything. Personally, I think it's good to explore a little once you get towards maintenance--helps you figure out what will and won't work.

Hope detoxing is going well or as well as can be expected.

Sorry about the toaster oven question.....mine came with a cookie sheet, fits a 12" pizza so it might be a bit larger than yours. I bake pies, pizza, cookies, cakes (round ones), casseroles, etc. in mine. If you can go to a Bed Bath and Beyond they have a 4 pc. set for toaster ovens....do you ever get coupons from there?

I use my glass pie pans...( Whitecastle pie), I have fashioned a cookie out of foil before....get creative

Okay, I'm coming clean. You guys know I've been struggling for awhile. I've pretty much been on an all out LC binge since the end of May. Luckily enough I've only managed to gain about 9 lbs.

As of today I'm trying hard to do induction hard core. I have got to get this under control. I know I'll never be able to do portion control.

What do I need? Help and support. I need you guys to kick my butt. I'm seriously thinking I need to give you my phone number and have you call me if I'm not posting my menus. I haven't done one lick of exercise in 2 weeks.

So...HELP!

Today's menu:

Kentucky grilled chicken breast

pork roast with mayo and 1/4 avocado

hardboiled egg

3 eggs and 4 pieces bacon

Kim~ I think that you and I have the same portion control issues....that's why we seem to want to cling to induction foods. I wish I was able to eat in moderation like our friend Teresa Your menu looks okay today but where are the veggies???? It does look like you managed to stay away from our friend....CHEESE.....that's a good start!!

I'm sure Valerie & Teresa can give you some good advice.....and maybe I can listen in too BUT you have came a long way and know how to do it! You need to find your willpower again...just like I need to do

I purposely left out the veggies today. Wanting to do meat/eggs for 3 days to jumpstart ketosis if possible. I think I need to get there again.

Well this, my dear, is exactly what you need to do--so kudos on that! I think until we say it out loud and own it, it's really easy to just let it continue on and on and on....

PM me your phone number and let me know what the rules are (how many days missing before I start bugging the hell out of you!) and I'll be more than happy to be your butt kicker!! I knew since you had only popped in a couple of times lately and each time said you were struggling but without details...something was up. But I'm also never sure what type of "intervention" people want--so unless asked I try not to be overly intrusive--OK, try being the operative word!

Beyond stalking you what else can we do to help? I am totally open to this thread becoming whatever it is it needs to be....in other words--post menus and exercise, daily check ins, butt kickings, bootcamp, whatever. If it gets us to goal, and more importantly helps us to develop a healthier and/or more functional relationship with food and our bodies (or for me to unscrew my screwed up little head!)--then I say let's do whatever it takes. And support and accountability are something I'm all about.

As far as thinking you will never be able to do portion control--do you mean with anything or certain types of foods? Just curious.

Kathy--yeah, my toaster oven is quite small, like maybe 7 inches by 10 inches. It's really a perfect size for the kinds of things I want to do, just never thought of the issue with cookware size! Thanks for the tip on BB&B--there is one right across from where I work, and I have a return to take back this week so that works out perfectly. Maybe they will have a set that fits smaller t.ovens. Oh--and I ALWAYS have plenty of their coupons! I don't think I've ever bought anything there, not even like a $2.00 item, without a coupon!

I think that I will always have portion control issues with everything
I think that every meal I make I need to have something on my plate that I can have (in my mind) an unlimited amount of.

Kim~ I have unlimited calls on my cell from 8pm-6am everyday and all weekend long if you ever need to talk. I know what you mean about going really strict for a couple days to get your appetite back in check

Teresa~ I'm glad I don't have that much access to BB&B....I am a sucker for new kitchen gadgets
