Val--I meant to ask, what's in the Canadian Brown Sugar Twin? I've heard that it's better but have never tried it. I'm not a huge fan of the Brown Sugar Diabetesweet so I would love to check out another alternative....as long as it doesn't contain aspartame or saccharin. Does it work well in baking?

Weight loss is my career, too! But maybe because we do focus on it so much, that's how we make it work?

Canadian Brown Sugar Twin is a cyclamate, not saccharin. SugarTwinŽ | Ingredients

I think it was the cyclamates that were banned in the US. I've never had the US version, so I can't compare, but I've heard the Canadian version is much better. I like it. I keep it handy. When I was eating a lot of peanut butter on low carb pitas or tortillas I would sprinkle a little of it on top for some sweetness!

I'd be happy to mail you guys some if you want to try it.

And I decided to have a salad for lunch, very few calories, but it will help keep me from getting too hungry.

Morning--well almost afternoon--Lisa! Is your migraine gone? Your new avi cracks me up!

Val--interesting on the cyclamates. The sugar twin in the states is horrible, but I hate saccharine. I would love to try it! I will pm you my info.

Kathy--so what did you decide on the 5k? Have you gotten back into jogging yet? Am I being a thorn in your side?

Apparently cyclamates caused bladder cancer in rats when fed the equivalent of 350 cans of diet soda a day. Cyclamate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is approved for use in Canada and the UK and about 50 other countries, but the FDA won't lift it's ban.

Yeah, I remember reading about cyclamates at one point long ago. Don't remember much about it except that it amazes me the things that are freely available here that should be banned if those choices are made by testing lab rats. Reality is we don't need to test cigarettes on lab rats to know they kill (oh, by the way, I'm a smoker ) but they're still freely available. I tend to think money/big business/politics is often the bottom line in these decisions. I love the freedoms this country affords me, but in my opinion it does come with a price.

It is sooooo beautiful outside. Maybe 70 with a nice breeze--almost chilly. I'm going to go outside and do my c25k.

Teresa~ I told ya the other day that I am not gonna do the 5.5k this weekend....on 6/26 in the same paragraph I talked about being good on my "diet". You must have just freaked out about the word "diet" and forgot about the other part.

We went out on the pontoon again tonight the kids wanted to fish. It was breezy here too and we didn't catch anything worth keeping. I had some late afternoon PB for a snack luckily was not hungry at dinner time and it is almost bedtime so I should be ok for the rest of the night I don't know what the scale will tell me tomorrow???

Yeah, I must have missed that. I didn't think you had ever said for sure one way or another, I just knew you were thinking about not doing it. My bad.
