I AM ALIVE. I haven't read backwards just yet to see how everyone is. It always takes me a bit to reaclimate myself to the new year. OH NINE started rather dramatically with my daughter's bad snowboarding accident. *sigh* Nothin drives the adrenaline like that garbled cell phone message "mimi's been in an accident....ambulance". I can laugh about it now

The time spent at Children's Hospital made me realize how lucky I am to have a healthy child. Katy, I thought alot about Kyle, and thanks for the emails about his progress. He's definitely in my prayers and Caro you too. Yesterday's good news was that Mimi doesn't have to go through surgery. Thank god.

Moving along...My father decided to throw us out of his house on Christmas (about 2 minutes after everyone opened their gifts). I guess my brother and sister's 15+ years of estrangement finally got the best of him. In retaliation, he's now blaming me for their prolonged silence. This unfortunate scene ON Christmas was very tough on my daughter; she'd never seen any ugly side of him. It's weird to think a 74 year old man could be so immature and foolish (and why the explosive scene on Christmas with my daughter present??). How precious are the relationships we have with others---even the imperfect ones. I didn't have the strength to argue with him, cuz what's the point? I do wish I'd said "hey dad, you DO realize I'm the only one of your kids here---look around". Ah, but I never said it. I guess I am more of an unhappy reminder of my brother and sister's absence. I know he's making the wrong decision by carving us out of his life---I'll never understand the dysfunction. Sooooooo, that was my pre- OH NINE drama.

My dog, Dasher, had an outstanding Christmas/holiday. He's had a constant lap, and a half of a pepperoni pizza. I don't feed him table scraps, so that put quite a twinkle in his eye.

Work is definitely slowing down. That's probably God intervening on my behalf.

Looking forward to catching up on the thread. Instead of goals for 09 I decided to compose a list of the little things that make me smile or things I'll promise to enjoy more often----something a bit like Oprah's top gifts. "OH NINE" is officially been marked "MY YEAR TO PAMPER". This, includes, making myself feel better through more exercise and better meal planning.

Just talked to my sister and she tells that the tumor is out and reconstruction has started. We're looking at another 3hrs or so. I wish I was there.........

I do not feel like doing much today. I already had to force cook 2 lasagnas that I forgot I was supposed to take to a potluck... hahaha! I hope they are not cold in the center....that would not make me...a trained chef.. look good.

I had my interview I think it went rather well, one of my "friends" that is a sup was there one of my former sups was there and my direct Senior ops person was there in addition to another sup. so yep four total. the question I prepard myself to get hit with because I knew it would trip me up was not even asked

Ok, Kyle is in recovery and is having very high heart rate. They took a few hours to find a med to control his pain and when Ang went in to see him his heart rate soared...she is gorgeous, but sheesh...anyway, they think they will keep him on surgery floor tonight and send him back to cancer floor in the am. He is supposed to start a new chemo session and combo antibiotics for the next couple days, just in case there are any cells that got out during surgery. He did tell Ang he loves her and will be ok. So the next few days will tell.

This is funny---for those of you that know the raspberry syrup story. I just had a bottle of sugar free caramel davinci syrup explode in the trunk of my car. It is so darn cold here it froze, and of course shattered the glass bottle. OMG I wanna puke from the intense caramel smell. Even after cleaning my trunk liner with lysol----I feel like a cloud of caramel is looming over me. Lookin for a man that likes carmel on this bitterly cold quiet afternoon. lol.

Shelly, I'm not sure Melly is fluent in piglatin. Maybe find yourself a hot translator first.
