Gonna Look Divine by End 2009!!! WEEK 1 -11/17-11/23
Hi all! I started this thread for all of us who are just starting or re-committing to this WOE and the accountability of a weekly thread on this site.
This thread will also serve as a sounding board of our daily food and water intake, as well as any supplements you take. Also, any exercise(s) we do so as to keep each other motivated and built up. This will be a positive thread, but as we all know there are rough things that will come up in our lives for certain from time to time, but please remember that we are all human and need love and acceptance from others. I know that we will all keep our comments to an encouraging and upbuilding tone here. This is the only refuge some of us may have. ![]() This thread is open to anyone who wants to look divine by end of 2009!![]()

Hi, my name is LaShawn. I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you all a little about me. I am a wife and mother of 3 (DD-an angel in heaven for 4 years-would be 17 1/2 y.o.), my boys are ages 18 and 7...and an unofficially adopted boy age 20. I just turned 38 two weeks ago, and DH-Brandon is 32. We are all overweight except the 20 y.o. ! My 7 year old is 4 ft 1 in and weighs 95 lbs.....very broad shoulders, but still over weight....he should weigh between 75-85 lbs. so I keep close watch on him because he sneaks food. If he sees anyone else eating he immediately thinks he has to be eating too or it isn't fair. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. I sell Mary Kay skincare and cosmetics.....and working my way up to my first free car with MK, I love what I do, but I worry sometimes about fitting in a new car. I am 340 lbs today. My absolute highest weight was 345 lbs. so this weight has got to come off! I look back at a few women I used to post with here 2 years ago and I think....wow! Look at their progress and how much weight they've lost just reminds me that I have wasted so much time not taking care of myself! It's high time I started doing that! BTW, I am also type 2 diabetic, have high blood pressure, a couple of hearneated discs in my back and bursitis and bone spurs in both knees and had a hysterectomy 3 years ago....that seems to have changed my whole metabolism!
Here's my menu so far today: 6 meatballs with 1 oz cheese melted. 2 tbsp peanut butter (I know this isn't recommended for the first couple weeks, but it was a "use it or lose it" moment)..lol Water so far - 50.7 ozs!!! Come and join me! |

Well, honestly speaking...my day went ok, but because I did't eat much through the day, the end of my day wasn't good. I ended up eating about 1/2 cup rotel dip and about 3-4 ozs of chips and a Michelob Ultra! I know that I didn't plan well for tonight's dinner on my part, the rest of the bunch wanted the rotel dip and doritos for dinner.
I learned two things, don't wait so long between meals and prepare ahead of time! Here's to tomorrow being a better day! |

Hi Jann! I think you did fabulous! Except now you have me craving cucumbers...lol. I know what you mean about being up late, my normal bedtime seems to be about 2am most nights/mornings.I am hereby making a fresh commitment to myself.....I will prepare ahead of times so that I always have my food ready to go in the oven or on my plate! Just about anyone can wait for 15 minutes to eat but yesterday I so realized that because I had no plan for meals I just winged it and nibbled a little, but it was not enough to keep me on track, nor to keep my blood sugar elevated enough. Since I have a migraine this morning, I think I am going back to bed...but when I get up I will have 2 over medium eggs and 2-3 sausage patties....and water! I am making myself a grilled chicken breast over salad tonight with brussel sprouts with butter and cream cheese in them..oh so yummy! If I get hungry in between I will eat a cheese stick. Have a great eating day to everyone! |

GOOD MORNING! How's everyone today? It is almost freezing here...36!
I ate on plan yesterday, it was so much easier since I planned it out. I did not get as much water in as I planned though, probably because I slept most of the day. Today's menu plan: 135 ozs. water B: 3 deviled eggs S: 1 cheese stick L: chicken breast over a salad of lettuce and tomato and mayo D: bacon cheeseburger salad(lettuce tomato) with a little onion and extra cheese with mayo and diet ketchup combo with mayo-mustard combo also. Diet-caffeine free coke...if 6 bottles of water are already drank! Total carb plan for the day: 14 net carbs Exercise: 20 minutes of upper body weights Good luck everyone! Please join us!!! |

Hi Jann and Sinderella!!! How are things going today? So far so good here! Working on my 3 bottle of water...almost done. I figure if I drink one bottle every two hours, I'll get it all in and not be overwhelmed. Breakfast was a cheese stick, Lunch was half a chicken breast with 1/2 salad (leftover from dinner last night...lol), so I think my snack will be the devilled eggs made with mayo and SF sweet relish....going after that now!
I even turned down going to lunch with a girlfriend to stay on track today. Ok, gotta go make some phone calls and book some facials and skincare classes. Anyone interested in one, also? |

Hey LaShawn! I thought I'd come over and say hi! You'll never believe this, but my DB's mom is in Andalusia and we'll be there for the weekend!
I'm *trying* to eat to my BMR so today I've had: B: coffee with HC & Splenda and pumpkin stuff...kinda like the hot pumpkin cereal in the recipe thread L: 2c Romaine with a burger pattie and ranch dressing. Still have 866 calories to go! I think we're having pumpkin and saugage soup for dinner. I've been horrible about drinking my water! Have GOT to do better! Hope everyone is having a great day! |

Hi, glad you made it over here! That's cool that your DB's mom (assuming boyfriend?) lives where my brother lives. My brother works at Walmart there. Sometimes in maintenance, sometimes in Electronics.
Ok, so what is BMR? And what is the pumpkin stuff? |

Hey there! Do you go visit often? We'll have to meet up and go to lunch or coffee! Like I said...I dont know a soul down here and am STARVING for a female friend.!! DB (dear boyfriend, and he really IS) and I go up there usually once when I'm home to visit. This weekend is opening of rifle season so we'll head up Fri night and home Sun. Then I leave Mon or Tues..ugh! I'm enjoying my time at home!!
For BMR, check out this thread: BMR!!! Eating To your BMR... No Matter What! And the pumpkin stuff: LC Hot Pumpkin Cereal! Only I make mine with cream cheese to up the fat and calories. So for mine, I make it by melting 1Tbsp Coconut oil with 2oz cream cheese on the stove top. I add in 2 TBSP unsweetented vanilla Almond milk or cream, some cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and two Splenda packets (going to try stevia, but I'm out at the moment and haven't made it to the store). Mix all that up til it's smooth then add in 2 TBPS pumpkin. Then crack in two eggs and stir with a whip til it starts to "chunk up" like it says in the thread. After I put it in t bowl I add another 2 TBSP Almond milk and eat it. I'm not a huge pumpkin fan, but boy do I love this stuff. When I ran the numbers using Almond milk, I got 492 calories, 44grams fat, 7 carbs, 2 fiber for a net total of 5 carbs, and 17 grams protein. I sure hope someone else will run those numbers and correct me if I'm wrong. I've been using dailyplate and am still getting used to it. I have sausage and pumpkin soup simmering on the stove for dinner. Not sure what we'll have to go with it yet. Have a great night! |

Hey Guys I have been playing over on Facebook anyone a member there?
I had a bad day today had a big fight with My Sister last night well fight is not the right word she just yelled at me for things other People did and I had no control over but as always it is my fault. It was so hard to hold my tongue I wanted to go off on her but I know it would not get anywhere. I just did not answer the phone when she called today to give myself a day to cool off. I did ok on eating I had Pepperoni with Ricotta and Mozzarella micorwaved in a bowl for Lunch, Capezo Salad about 5 then Taco Salad for Dinner so way too much Cheese and Tomato's today. I was thinking last night about roles in a family and how mine has always been the fat one I think that was one of my problems when I got to my lowest a few years ago I did not know where I fit in anymore and it scared me. I plan to do a lot more thinking along the way this time and keep my head together.

Hi girls!
Jann, I am so sorry that you had to go through that, you are a remarkable person and especially because you were able to hold your tongue. Situations like this (another friend just went through the same thing with her sis)...you just can't change how they react or treat you, but you can remove yourself from the situation as quickly and completely as possible, simply stating this as you leave " I don't have the power to change how you treat me, but my power lies in the fact that I can control whether or not I stay here and allow you to treat me this way." You'd (anyone) be amazed at the power you regain from this simple statement, whether it is voiced or you say it to yourself. Great job on eating on plan though! Jann, by the way if you like to read, I have a couple of really good book recommendations that have really helped me see some things clearer about myself. Let me know if you'd like to know what they are. By the way, I only have myspace and don't really know how to use it either...lol. Angel, I don't get that way all that often lately because gas was so high, but soon will be heading that way again and would love to meet you in person!! I so love that I sell Mary Kay because one I get to meet new women and make new friends, because I have not always been very good at that. And two, because I get to make a difference in a lot of women's lives.....lipstick doesn't change everyone's life, but my goal is to make every woman feel special, because her time with me may be the only time she's made to feel that way. So what do you do? School or work? Angel, I think I kind of like the concept of the BMR, although, it's tricky to keep up with it all! What is the daily plate thing you were talking about? Sounds like menu was on plan! Well, I ate on plan yesterday....had about 20 carbs, might have been 21..but I only ate half my dinner so I think still 20. I made roasted broccoli...almost over did that, should have eaten the salad first or given the rest to the family after getting my portion...it was sooo yummy! I got all my water in and even exercise with the weights on the upper body, but I didn't realize how much back strain it is just working on arms! I was using 5 lb. weights. I couldn't do a full 20 minute training with them, had to stop after 15! It will improve. I don't know if any of you use a food journal, I made me one in a composition book. One side tracks facts and info, the other page I am journaling things that go right or wrong in my day...food related or not, then I am finishing off with these two statements every day..... "Tomorrow will be an even better day than today". and "I'm making myself divine by end of 2009!" Last edited by MaryKayMayBe4u2; 11-20-2008 at 10:09 AM.. Reason: facebook comment |

Hey ladies! Sorry I'm just now getting around to writing....What a day! Errands! ugh!
Jann....all I can do is offer you my support and ! I can imagine that it's a trial to deal with your sis. LaShawn...I wear Mary Kay! I just started wearing it and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I actually found it in Andalusia at decided to try it! As for work, I'm a flight attendant based out of Seattle. That's why I'm here only for about a week at a time. The rest of my days are spent flying or a day or two with family back 'home'. I really like the BMR thing. For me it's hard to eat that many calories...but if I watch what I eat and choose more calorie dense, it works. I think it will work for me for now. The Daily Plate is like fitday. You use it to track what you eat. I'm not sure I like it as much as fitday...may go back to that. Will try DailyPlate for at least a few more days. How do you use your notebook? I'm thinking I may have to do that more when I'm flying because I don't always have a computer at my fingertips! Journaling...ugh, I'm HORRIBLE at that! I'm making Linda's whitecastle pie for dinner with brussel sprouts, I think. Some kind of veggie anyway. I'll let you all know how yummy it turns out! ![]() |

Angel, that's so cool that you are a flight attendant, where do you travel to most of the time? Do you have a set route? It's cool that you are using Mary Kay? ...How did you "find" it in Andalusia? I so love our products, too. I am definitely a firm believer in our product lines!
On the journal thing...I just took a composition book and dated every left page (1st page on right before the first day...I spelled out my goals and starting weight and measurements). On the left page goes the date and day of the week....followed by Breakfast:.............Lunch:.............Snacks:. ...........Dinner:...............(I usually skip 3-4 lines under each of those headings to write in what I ate). Then Water goal: (next to it I write down what I drank in ozs. Next line for Total Net Carbs: (write total next to it), next line, Meds: (if I took them all and if I missed any of them), next line Exercise: (write down if I did any for the day....usually every other day I exercise), then lastly...Stools: (I mark hashmarks to keep up with that end literally...lol...because I find sometimes I have trouble with constapation while low-carbing....so I am trying to find out what does this to me). .....Now, every right side of the page (except the very first one) I just write what happened if something went right or wrong in eating, etc. or in my day/life/relationship, etc. Finishing up with the two affirmation statements in my earlier post. As I believe it, I will achieve it!!! Hope this helps some! |

Good morning everyone!
LaShawn...thanks for telling me about your notebook. I think I'm going to try that. See what I can come up with! I'll be seeing some old friends in Feb and want to look 'hot'!!! So I'm trying to do my best here! Flying....well, I'm based out of Seattle. I work for a regional airline (74/76 seats) and we fly to Wa, Or, Id, Mt, Ca, Az, Nv, Mexico, and Canada. We don't have set routes, but work on a 5week bid 'system'. So we bid for the schedule we want or days off. Then once we get that, we can drop trips or trade with others. It's quite a system to get down at first! Usually our trips are either 3 or 4 days then a few days off. I usually go to my aunt and uncles or to visit my mom. I try to cram all of my trips into the first 4 weeks then take a week off. I REALLY want to go to Mardi Gras this year so I'll have to change things up a bit for that IF I get to go! I just realized I told you more about my job than you prolly wanted to know...sorry! As for Mary Kay. My hunny's mom has used it for years. My mom used to as well...my auntie sold it. Well, I was in Andalusia last month...His mom LOVES to yardsale so I go with her when I'm there. We went to one and a lady was getting rid of a bunch of products for WAY cheap. I got eyeshadow that I ![]() ![]() and some of the mineral foundation powder. I'm not a big makeup person, but at work I like to look very put together. I can't wait to order MORE from You!!! Oh, I also got some perfume, but the scent doesnt last long on me so I only use it when I'm at home or on my days off.So, yesterday I had pumpkin stuff for breakfast. Then went to run errands and didn't get home til almost 230! BAD idea...I was so hungry. I had a bowl of sausage pumpkin soup then made dinner. We had Linda Sue's Whitecastle Pie *yum* and brussel sprouts. Then I decided that I needed something comforting so I made hot cocoa. I used the idea behind jacksmixedtape recipe and went from there. It was yummy if you like dark chocolate and made my night! All in all, I ate to my BMR, but went over in carbs. I'm having trouble getting in all the calories and not the carbs. Will have to rethink my choices. More water, but I got in 32oz yesterday. Exercise....will one of you PLEASE kick me in the butt? I've gotten LAZY since being home! have a wonderful day!!! |

Hi Angel! Sounds like a yummy eating day to me. I am making the whitecastle pie for tomorrow night's dinner for the whole family....only thing I am changing for them is putting it into a pie shell...lightly baked. I am dying to try it. We don't have Whitecastle here, but we used to live in Illinois near St. Louis and they had them there...lol. Have you seen the movie...Harlod and Kumar go to Whitecastle? The second one was filmed here and one of the girls who sells MK on my team is an extra in that movie...that was cool!
Be back in an hour! |

I'm glad you got a good deal most of the time you never know how old the product is, but with you getting the mineral powder foundation, probably not that old in this instant...but be careful, it's against the rules to sell it that way for just that purpose. But, I'm glad you love it, and thank you, I'd love to make you my happy customer!
You can always shop on my website and I can send you samples of most anything, as well as everything you buy is satisfaction guaranteed! I offer free shipping as well. So what color eye shadow did you get, and what about your powder foundation, was it the loose one or the pressed one? If it's the loose one, did you get the brush for it? It's a specially designed brush just for it, to be able to deliver the correct amount you buff it on in circular motions and it is a buildable coverage so you can add a little or more if you like or need a heavier coverage, unlike traditional type loose powder this will adhere to itself. I love it that is what I am wearing today infact. That is so cool about your job. Another friend of mine who is on my team with MK has a brother-in-law who is a pilot, don't know where exactly he flies though, CA to NM I think, probably many other places, too. I think what would help you reach your BMR is more fat intake. When I lose well and fast I find I am eating more meats that I dip in a mayo-mustard combo.....so say I had 4-8 ozs of pork roast, salad-lettuce, tomato and mayo, and green beans....I would also probably have about 1/2c or more of the mayo-must. combo to dip the meat in. I haven't figured that up entirely, but I think that is somewhere near 800 calories with just the dipping sauce! I think I might have to try that hot chocolate idea though, with a tad of coffee....reminiscent of Starbucks...lol....give that mocha kick! I saw this book last night at the book store, can't remember the name, but they are holding it for me to pick up tonight...it's a recipe book with tons of recipes that have 6 ingredients or less and I think 6 net carbs or less per serving. Ok, I ate well on plan yesterday. Omelet with peppers and onions and cheese and 3 strips bacon, then last night ended up with a ceasar's side salad and 2 bunless jr. bacon cheeseburgers with 2 packs of ceasar's dressing (only 2 carbs) and 3 b. sprouts. and 1 cheese sticks....that was a good day with eating out and watching two movies at the theatre last night! Water was not quite where I wanted it, but got in 97 ozs. TODAY: B: boiled egg L: leftover b. sprouts with an oz of cream cheese in it (2 servings at most) Sn: 1 devilled egg D: Not sure yet, it's date night with Hubby, so my 7 year old is going to see Bolt with his 18 year old brother tonight and we are going to dinner and not sure what else yet. Goal is 135 ozs of water today, but I am behind...only 17 down so far.. Exercise: 20 minutes of upper body weight training or maybe a walk with DH....this is tricky with my back and knee issues, but we'll see. Good luck everyone!!! Jann and Sinderella.....where are you!? ![]() |

*laughs* I dont even know what Whitecastle IS! But the pie is sure yummy!! Haven't seen the movie either. Is it funny??
Just pulled two loaves of pumpkin spice loaf out of the oven! I'm hoping it will turn out like gingerbread!! I'm going to make a trifle with it and take it with us this weekend! My house smells like Christmas!!! I can't belive this. My mom's family all live in Cape Girardeau, Mo....I bet that's near where you were in IL, cuz St. Louis is only about a 2 hr drive from there. Fly into St. Louis all the time! How is your day going?? So far today I've had a coffee with cream and a slice of Whitecastle Pie. Not eating enough, I know. Will have to work on that more. Talk to you soon! |

LOL....sounds so yummy with the pumpkin in everything...I'm really wanting pumpkin bread or pie! Omg, the movie is so funny. You should rent the dvd, they are both out now.
I know where Cape Girardeau is, My mom and dh's dad and my brother from Andalusia all lived there! I believe there was White Castle there, too. Do you know what Krystal burgers look like, they are similar....they are just little sliders, but oh so tasty. I still have only had the 1 egg and brussel sprouts....and still only the 17 ozs of water, gosh it's too cold to drink cold water...lol. So tell me more about you. Is Angel your name or just your nickname? What do you like to do besides yardsales and flying..lol? |

Good morning all! What kind of plans do you all have for the weekend? Any special side dishes planned for Thanksgiving?
Ok, I did very good on eating yesterday...but very poorly on water! I only got in about 60 ozs of water. I went to dinner last night on my date with hubby. I ordered a sirloin and a ceasar salad (OMG - this was awesome!) with broccoli and I also had two servings garlic butter...I DID NOT EAT POTATOES, OR ROLLS! So I was a good girl and it paid off well! I decided that , yes...I did want all of those fav. foods.......but I want to be healthy and FIT in a booth (had to move to a table last night) more!!! |

Hi all!!! Well yesterday was a weird day for me. I woke up night before last with foot cramps on the top of my foot runny up the front of my leg. So I ate well, but I figured that my cramps were coming from not drinking enough water the day before and not getting enough salt in my body while taking my bp meds...so I decided to suck the juice from 4 lemons with lots of salt! Ok, so since I only "ate" 1 cheese stick, 1/2 c. lettuce, 2 grape tomatoes, 2 ozs chicken breast, 4 small pork chops and mayo-mustard dipping sauce....I figured I'd be ok, since I didn't have but about 2-3 carbs besides the lemon juice, so then I got into the whipped cream can since I wasn't feeling well (think my blood sugar dropped and I didn't even think to check it)....well I sucked down about half the can of whipped cream.....So, all in all I think I had about 20-22 carbs! So not bad, but I think the whipped cream affected the scale this morning, didn't budge from yesterday, this was not the SF kind so it might have thrown me out of ketosis?! Today I am going to eat cleanly and on plan!! Drink lots of water and exercise today!
Tomorrow is official weigh in day!!! Feel free to post your results, we can motivate each other and help each other along the way! Any lurkers out there, come out ..come out, where ever you are! (Wizard of Oz theme playing in my head here...lol) Jann, where are you girlfriend? Miss the rest of you! |

Ok, here is how the day's eating went:
b: 1 mozz. cheese stick l: 3 celery stalks with 3 tbsp veggie cream cheese d: a serving of a variation (only slightly) of the Whitecastle cheeseburger pie. (family loved it, I did their's the same except poured it into a pre-baked pie crust) and a cup or romaine lettuce and 1 grape tomato with mayo and a few spritzes of the ceasar spray dressing. So far I've had 14 net carbs. water is not where I want it still, but at almost 80 ozs. Exercises will wait till tomorrow since my back is still spasming up! Tomorrow will be weigh in day! |

Hi LaShawn! I hope your WI day is fantastic! Your food looks great except for the whipped cream! oops! I'm the same way. I can be doing fantastic but then all of a sudden I want something sweet!
I've been doing good with my eating too. I am down a few pounds from the first of the week so I am very pleased. I hope it sticks until tomorrow! ![]() |

Penny, good to hear from you again. Sounds like you are doing great! I hope your loss is even greater for tomorrow! I know what you mean about the sweets, I've been trying to eat whole foods and stuff like that, not even any low carb bread, but I forgot that the whipped cream was not SF and kind of went to town on it so to speak...lol. If I want it again, I'll just whip up my own..lol.
Good Luck all and look for the new thread tomorrow....week 2 into making ourselves divine by end of 2009!!! |
