back Melinda..seems like you had a lot going on. You may not be 100% but at least you are giving it a try...every little thing you do right is a good thing.December already.....as far as weight loss this has not been a very good year.. Don't have many foods planned this week ![]() I was planning on eating on the turkey most of the week, but it just doesn't sound very appetizing anymore..but I really don't have back-up plan, except some meatloaf I made which will be for breakfast and some canned chicken..

Does anybody have cable or dish...on the Style channel there is a show called Ruby about a 475 lb woman losing weight. It is really a very good show so if you get it check it out. I think you can even watch on line...mystyle/ruby or something like that.
It is on Sunday nights and last night they ran all the episodes so I got caught up. No matter what our size, then or now, I think lots of us can relate to Ruby. |

Silver Spice got run over by something.. it wasn't the reindeer that ran over Grandma, but I think it was something similar. I feel like it was a Freightliner or a Choo Choo train!
Hope you are all well. Any weight loss related New Year's resolutions here? I am going to have to try REALLY hard to get to my goal by graduation. I want to be at least down to 215 by then. I graduate June 12th.... yikes! That's over 40 pounds! |

Hello friends, how's everyone doing?
I definitely want to set some goals for the new year. Right now I'm trying to eat less and less bread with with the holidays here i dont want to start lc all the way, I know I will be cheating so I am trying to eat healthier and less carbs then after xmas I plan to start full force. I have been monitoring my bp and sugar, it seems after dinner it goes up a bit so I definitely need to stick to lc if I dont want to start having problems. Exercise has been on and off but I've been sticking to it, I also plan to do more come January. I'd like to start a challenge in January and go back to the basics. Oh those of you who like turkey, my bil made some turkey legs in the smoker that were to die for. I love to go to Disney to buy their turkey legs, these were way better. I think its a great meal to snack on or lunch to take to work. Well, I'm off to house cleaning. Talk to you guys later.

I have been checking Ruby out online she is inspiring because she is natural and being herself for sure. Thank You for the suggestion I did not know she was on. I was so frightened of not pulling it together that for now I am signed up with BistroMD Dr Cedarquist she is a specialist in weight control and targets Insulin Resistance. I am starting this on Wed ... we will see how it goes. Thanks again for your input! ![]() ![]() |

Hey there everyone.
I haven't seen the Ruby lady's information. I'd love to see it though. I have been doing my own thing diet wise, but adding more citrus fruits in since they are in season and free from my trees. Grapefruit, lemons and oranges. I think it has helped my immune system and my metabolism. This was our first year of fruit from the pineapples and we ate them all already. Our bananas got frozen in the last two record cold snaps. And, I have another batch of collard greens to pick and then they will be pretty much done until I replant. But I have enjoyed our first garden and it served us well. We planted peas, beans, corn, beets and tomatoes and none of them survived. I hope next year we figure out what we did wrong and have a bigger variety of food to eat. We have local growers for strawberries and they should be ready anyday. We have been buying beautiful fresh veggies from a local hispanic man. Today my husband brought home 4 of the biggest zuchinni squash I've ever seen. 4 for $1.00 !!!!!! and a whole bag of bananas for $1.00 I am so grateful for this food, because financially we have had a very hard time making healthy meals. So, today I decided to make a huge feast for the family. Baked chicken 1/4's with Franks hot sauce, bacon and zuchinni, mashed potatoes and whole berry cranberry sauce. It was such a satisfying meal, well worth the effort that went into it. I am finding portion control to really help me with my weight. Although the last week has been really torturous for me, emotionally, I have not pigged out on junk. I will admit to having a few bites of this or that, but I can feel an improvement in control. I used a small dish like the ones you get at a cafeteria, to measure out my serving sizes. In the school lunch room that's all I would get unless I was willing to pay more, so I am doing the same at home. I think it's helping me. I don't feel deprived, but I also don't have 1000 calories of potatoes, like I would if I served them without a measuring device. That also controls how much butter goes in them, etc. So overall I KNOW my calories and carbs are lower. I did not eat breakfast today. We slept late and when I got up I started on lunch/dinner. Today is a laid back, lazy, do what you want kind of day for us all. I'm enjoying it very much! So all I have had today is: Two large chicken thighs 1/2 cup mashed potatoes 1/4 cup berry sauce 2 cups zuchinni bacon stir fry 2 glasses tea with lemon and SNL I am so full I almost feel sick. I plan on having something for a snack later, maybe a 100 cal bag of popcorn with some cinnamon on it and some lemon water. I have been maintaining and bouncing within 2 pounds. That really makes me happy considering how I let it spiral out of control this time last year. If I can just get control, I think that is step one toward my goal. Now for steps 2 - 109. ![]() Time for me to go get my homework and studies done. Hugs for everyone!

After much thought I am sad to say I have decided to leave the group. I have to focus on some personal issues and need to break a few time consuming habits. The internet, and message boards are very addictive and sometimes I feel bad for not participating. I was going to make it a new goal for 2009, but am motivated to do it now because of the mounting pressures in my life right now.I'll miss you all. Carry on, stick to it! I hope you all reach your goals and I send best wishes to each of you. Hugs... Byebye ![]() Last edited by Silver Spice; 12-08-2008 at 11:28 PM.. |

Diane, that is so true about wanting warmer drinks this time of year. Not much of a tea drinker myself; like coffee though. Trying to gulp more water. Don't really like plain, warm/hot water. Tried it.

Sharon -- Not drinking my water usually wouldn't be a problem except I am feeling so bloated that I know drinking more would help make me feel better. This morning I am passing on my green tea and just trying the water. I did bring some of the diet hot chocolate in though so I will probably have a cup later. Of course if building mtc would just realize we don't need the ac that would also help!!! Christie and glad to have you here. Congrats on the loss so far. Usually I am good about planning my meals ahead of time, but this week nothing sounds good and I have no appetite so no clue what to make next week..probably basic chicken and burgers. Does your DH eat lc with you? My DH doesn't usually care for lc casseroles etc so sometimes I am planning food for him and me.. Don't forget about Linda's Sue site for some ideas as well...Last edited by TXLoser; 12-11-2008 at 05:54 AM.. |

hi diane, no dh doesnt eat lc with me. all he eats is carbs. thats part of the reason i failed last time. we never eat together unless we go out to eat. he makes what he wants and i make what i want. he doesnt like what i like.
ive been using fitday to keep track of my eating and weight.. its pretty cool. this week i have had chicken with broccoli, shrimp with asparagus, carne asada for supper. im struggling with my blood sugar. it spikes over night and i cant figure out why. they said to try a snack before bed, but that didnt work. im gonna get some l-glutamine for cravings. theres a thread here that says it helps for that. ive been good, but i dont want to screw it up. |

My DH likes his carbs as well...when I first started he was real good about what came in the house..and some foods I didn't allow..but lately since I haven't been as diligent some of his foods have come back... Foods that don't bother me I don't care, but some I just can't have around so I gotta nip that back in the bud
Saw the new thread Christie so maybe I will jump in on that one |

Hello again.
![]() How's everyone? I'm getting ready to shut down the computer and go study. I have a big test tomorrow and a guest speaker will be there in the morning for a demonstration of some kind as well. I highlighted my hair tonight and it turned out chunky funky and fun. I'm excited to see how my classmates react ![]() DH and I have not been getting along. But I think he's trying to butter me up since he gave me a ring tonight. I wish he was better with words. |

I'm not sure how this all will turn out Diane. We married in 2003 and it's been a real battle most of the time for one problem after another. We have been through some of the worst times and it just seems to have caused us to grow apart. I think we could be really good friends, but at this point I'm not sure if there will ever be anything more to our relationship than that.
It's really sad....... for all involved. I just don't know how to fix it on my own, and he doesn't seem to want to fix it where it will work for me. I've pulled back and just co-exist here and wait until something gives one way or another. I decided to focus on school and work and personal goals. I will have to get new batteries for the camera, but I'll try to get a pic of my hair soon. Several classmates said it was awesome and one teacher asked if I had been the model for the highlighting demonstration that was done at the school today by a local salon manager. I said "no, they used a manniquin"... she said "Well who did it?" I said "I did"... her eyes lit up and she said Reeeeealllly????? WOW, it looks fantastic!" It feels fantastic ![]() |
