Just a quick stop in. Nothing much is going on - on this end. Just counting down the days until I go on vacation.

I am off work tomorrow and my sister will have the car so I plan to do some serious exercise and some cleaning then get some rest before DD comes home.

She started ballet class 2 weeks ago she goes every Saturday for three hours. Now every day she wakes up and asks is it time for ballerina class? She just loves it. I am glad that we decided to spend the money and send her. She is plum tuckered by the time she gets home so it is more than 3 hours off for me. I just have to make sure I have lunch when I pick her up and she is out by the time we get home. She sleeps for about another 2-3 hours if she is not disturbed.

That's it for me. Have a great day, Ladies!!

Hey Silver, we must be twins. I think my weight is just about the same as yours right now. I avoid mirrors at great lengths. I totally understand how you are feeling. The lapband isn't a solution for me. Those folks still do need to control how they eat--even more so.

What I did see, when we were in Orlando, is that going to 8 theme parks and walking literally 15 or 20 miles a day, I was able to eat a LOT and not gain anything. Which must mean that if I cut down and exercise a lot, I will lose. Right? That's how it should work? I just wish I could push myself to exercise that much at home. I had a great doctor (unfortunately, now retired) who used to tell me not to go to the gym. He asked if I had stairs in my house and told me "Just go up and down the stairs 10 times in the morning, 10 times at night." That's all the exercise he ever did, and he was trim and fit. Maybe it works. I don't know.

I am also going back to school in a couple of weeks. The expense is huge, but if can finish my degree next year, it will be worth it. I didn't go last term because I was so burned out, but I need to finish. Working all day, then school all night, is stressful for anyone--but I'm 49 and have a stressful job, too, where sometimes I work 10-12 hours a day. Plus a family. So what do we do while we are sitting all day? Eat, eat, eat, eat.

Now, more stress today. My dog (you guys might remember I have a sweet Boxer dog) has 4 skin tumors. She had some removed a couple of months ago and they were all benign, thankfully. Today she has 1 on her head, 1 on her behind (that looks different from the rest), and 2 in her mouth that are big and bleeding. The doc seemed worried about those, but I just read that it was very common with boxers to have this overgrowth in the gum tissue and that it is almost always benign. She's having them all day--Dad just took her. I will worry all day. I hate taking her to the vet--you just can't make them understand why you are leaving them, and it kills me! I know Diane understands.

All right, enough for me. Back to work, and maybe I can concentrate today. I doubt it. Hang in there, Silver.

Hi gang, sorry I've been MIA but I've been really busy and at work I dont have time to get here.

Diane, not I dont think its going to work out, he has not been able to get them to approve the new position, especially with how the economy is going so I think I will have to stick it out on this one

I've been doing really well on plan, I am down to 240.5 (from 249), I get ansy about wishing it was more (yes I know Coleen i was ready to smack you for these type comments) but it just seems that we want to get there in one day, after all I can gain so much faster it seems. I have been exercising a lot, dh decided to join me, I've been doing weights for arms, my elliptical and a stair master that we purchased, its a little one but boy does it work, I cant get past 5 minutes and that is stopping every now and then but I can already see a big difference in my thights. My size 18 pants are getting loose, but I tried on my 16s and still dont fit, I have a gap in the tummy area, I think 10 more lbs and I will fit perfectly.

This past week I've had cake and ice cream cake on 3 occassions, due to dh bday and his dad's and today just because I was majorly bummed about the old job news so I just ate it out of fustration, luckily all 3 slips have not prevented me from continuing, I just get right back to plan. I think I'm just mentally ready and I totally believe the exercise is key.

Torri, do those kids tell you things to you face or u just hear them? Young people can be really stupid, but dont let their stupidity get to you, you are doing what is best for you and your family, age is just a number, and you have plenty of time ahead of you to rip the benefits of your schooling so dont give up. Now regarding the weight, well, being heavy adds to our depression, just do portion control and try to get active, even if its parking farther, doing some wall push-ups, some situps and stretching before showering, things like that. You will see that your mood will change right away, I'm already feel good and confident and I've only lost 8.5 lbs, its incredible what it does to your confidence.

The kids say this stuff to my face... and it happened again at lunch today. The thing is, it's almost to the point now that I will be going to the dean's office to file a complaint. It's bordering sexual harrassment. I was at the dispensery area where you pick up your napkin, ketchup, salt, pepper, etc. There is a particular group, mixed races and a few are bisexual or gay. One of the students (adult black female) came up behind me and said "We is still talkin about your big booty. You look like a fine black booty but you is so white. It's just so there, and so big and we can't believe you have such a big booty that we keep looking at it and wanting it".

Totally freaked me out, so I screwed up my face and said "You need to stop talking about it and definately stop wanting it, because I am married and I'm not interested in what other people think". She said "Well, it's just so biggg! I just keep looking at it!" I just walked away..... the whole time very conscious that she was looking at my behind AGAIN.

Later I was looking around the classroom and happened to notice her staring at me. Then she blew me a kiss and winked at me. I don't know if this is all for show, innocent "fun" on her part, or more. I don't want to make a big deal, but it's not something I am comfortable with at all.

I talked to a coworker who is also adult black female and she said she believes the classmate is actually letting me know she is bisexual, and looking. Maybe that is true, maybe not. I just want it to stop. Thing is, they might stop telling me they are talking and looking, but it doesn't stop them from looking and talking amoung the group.

Silver - did you go to the dean's office? I agree.this isn't really about your weight but about sexual harrasment. Is this nail school or what? I can't remember??? How old is this person...kid or adult..not that it matters, just wondering?

Diane, my mom is here until probably the end of the month. I did Richard Simmons and Shapely Secrets yesterday after about a week off. It's hard to get motivated again. I told my daughter we will be exercizing before school after my mom leaves. I don't know how diligent I will be.

My daughter has conditioning at school and her pants are already getting big. My 8yo has put on some weight even with 1.5 hour football practice 5 days a week. I need to think of an exercize plan that he and my husband can do this winter. I would like to find a place where they can run. We live by the athletic club but it costs too much and a lot of the people there are snooty.

My eating sucks so far this week but today that changes.

Silver, that is just rude. I'm sorry that happened.

Illy, I hope your dog is ok.

Coleen, I bet your daughter is darling all dressed up for ballet.

to everyone.

Hi gang, TGIF!!!

Diane, you are not going to be affected by Ike right?

Torri, I would definitely report the group. That is totally unacceptable behavior, the thing is they may stop talking to you altogether or be spiteful but I would not let it go Sorry they are putting you through that

Jazlyn hiking is a great exercise and free. Oh and it was Twyx's dog not mine

Well I exercised again today, 30 minutes on the elliptical (slow) and 10 on the stepper. After 2 days off I was starting to feel lazy so I did it despite not feeling like it. Food has been OK, I was particulary hungry today, but I know it wasnt hunger, it was just fustration/depression but I will shake it off soon, i have to.

So I'm going on a 3 day cruise next Friday, I am hoping to loose a few more lbs by then. I am going with my friend that lost a lot of weight, she was probably close to 300 and now a size 0, so I am hoping that will be my motivation to not overeat.

Well I'm off to sleep. I will be back to check on everyone. Nite nite

We will just see some wind and rain today, but my brother in Houston got hit...luckily no house damage or broken windows..just no power. The thing is I can't even send him stuff to help out...I imagine there will be no mail for a while

We are just staying in today...which means I do chores while DH watches football

Here is a new recipe I made today

I got this from a QVC cookbook and made today...it is pretty good
Of course I used Heinz One Carb ketchup, everything else is lc
DH really likes this as well, and there was a nice sauce...I put the foil on loosesly by error so not sure if this is why the sauce was more "saucy" than thicker...

I also lined the pan with tin foil..easy clean up

ENJOY

Black pepper to taste
1 medium onion, cut up
1 green or red bell pepper, cut into bite size pieces
1 (24 oz) bottle ketchup

Remove visible fat from meat and cut into serving sizes
Arrange in casserole or baking pan and sprinkle with black pepper
Top with onions and peppers
Pour ketchup on top
Place lid on dish or cover tightly with foil
Bake at 350 for approx 1-1/2 hours, or until meat is fork-tender and ketchup has thickened.

Serve with veggie if you wish

Im so glad that you are OK Diane. I'm so sorry for everyone's loss. This whole thing makes me so sad.

I spoke with my husband about my concerns at school. I decided not to take it to the dean ..... but someone already had. My husband. He was so upset about it, he couldn't let it go. So, the student who kept saying this to me was chastized by the dean and told her that it was my husband who reported it. She has apologized, and we seem to be getting along ok. I am being shunned by some of the students, but it's ok. They are probably still talking about me, even more than ever.

At first I was upset with my husband for doing that, but later I realized it showed how much he cared about me.

So, it's all good.

Hey Everyone!

I was worried about Diane with Ike and all so I wanted to check in to make sure she is okay.

It has been a strange day. I got into work this morning and 1/2 the power in the office was out..... again!

I got as much work done as I could then went out to do some shopping for DS and for dinner tonight. DH is in Las Vegs this week and I am a bit lonely without him. I am also a bit overwhelmed with the kids as well. DD misses him terribly and I can't soothe her because her constant calling for him is getting on my nerves.

This weekend was not a bad one but not great either. I did not exercise, but I fixed that this morning with a 2 mile WATP dvd w/ weights. Tomorrow I have to be in the office pertty early so I am not sure how much exercise I will get done but I will try.DS does not leave the house until 6am and that is when I start my exercise. 6am - 6:30 then get ready for work. I usually leave home around 7:20. This morning the traffic was pretty good even with dropping DD, running and errand for Ev and stopping at the gas station. So I hope tomorrow will be as good.

I made that Almond Ricotta Creme, I was a bit skepitcal about the taste but surprisingly it was very good. I am thinking of having it again tonight for dessert but I will see how it works out after dinner. I don't want to eat it just because it is on my food log.

Illy ~ A 3 day cruise! To be able to just get on the ship and not have to worry about airfare. The last minute fares must be a steal for you! I think I'd spend atleast 2 long weekends per year on a cruise. Just makes me want to move to Miami. I saw Carnival was advertising 3,4 and 5 day cruise for $199! I thought that was fabulous.

You must be platinum on Carnival by now?? What line are you cruiseing with this time? What stops are you making?

late start this morning because the highway to work was shut down for an accident.

We have been having some nice weather so Rex and I are getting back out walking and doing walking during lunch...

Foods on plan...now if I can "accidentally" toss the PB DH bought
I keep "forgetting" to buy more but this time he got it when he was at the store... I know there is a reason I don't let him grocery shop...

sorry I've been MIA but dh had a mini stroke on Saturday we had the scare of our lives, thankfully he is OK and no damage to his face, but we've been in the hospital until today. I'm exhausted, I managed to eat lc as much as possible, the hospital we were in only had one cafeteria with very limited menu but I did very well considering. I'm not lower in weight, in fact when I got home this afternoon I weighted myself and it showed 243 but I feel lighter so I will not let it get to me.

Coleen, we are just going to Bahamas and a private island.

Be back, dh is calling me.

Illy, so sorry to hear you husband is ill. Stroke is so frightening. Glad he is ok for you both

No Diane, I have no clue. I am thinking of joining the gym around the corner but I need to check it out and the prices. I think its a body beautiful gym and of course that will never do I could rejoin the YMCA but its so hard to get there I have even thought of getting a wet suit for cold water I have 5 workout machines in my garage that I could fool with but its not likely. I looked at the callenstenics CD other day and not sure I can do it.....I am going to try tomorrow. I can begin slow and see how it goes. Actually I have so many different work out tapes or Cds from Richard Simmons to Pilates. I just know I am going to do something. I didn't do any exercise today but did do alot of walking just frm visiting my niece in the hospital...wish I had a pedometer on cause I know I did at least 3 miles, at least

I know Rex is glad the cooler weather is back for a bit

Ate out tonite and they brought me sweet tea by mistake and I gulped alot down....I usually get my husband to sample it before drinking but I was so thirsty. First bit of sugar I have had in couple months

They dont know what cause my husband's mini stroke. He is not feeling well, he is very dizzy and the headache does not go away. He is sset to see his doc tomorrow

June, you should use those machines you have at home. We just cleaned out our garage, even put some old speakers we had in the room and its great to exercise now. We have a bench with weights, an elliptical and the stepper, we also have a small old tv which I play my exercise videos. I like it, its not a gym but I get a decent workout.

So are you guys getting cooler weather now? Here its nice but still hot, just not as humid so

Food is still good. I have major cravings, I think its the stress more than anything I've eaten because even though I've had higher carbs than I would have liked I havent eaten junk. I have the inlaws staying with dh and last night she bought all kinds of goodies and ice creams to munch on. I didnt try them but I need to be strong, my pants are already really loose so that should be my incentive.

Illy, I am going to get the garage cleaned. Just waiting for my sister's husband to come over and get a their couch and refrigerator so I can move my equiptment where it belongs. I have a treadmill, weight machine, stationary bike, stair stepper, gazelle and exercise ball and bands. I have a stereo in there also. No excuse for not being out there except maybe a T.V. Right now they r practically on top of each other and I really can't get to them. The time is coming Hope your husband is feeling better.

Illy ~ For you and DH.

Nothing much going on here. DH returned form his Vegas trip yesterday afternoon. I am so glad he's home. The kids and I missed him terribly. He had a good time though. The kids and I are next. 2 weeks!!

It has been raining since Saturday night, so when I got to the office today it was flooded. So I spent most of the day sweeping water from in the reception area.
