I'm making them in about 5 minutes myself. I like tehm simple..so I just brush them with a mix of your favorite oil, garlic salt and garlic powder ( I use both powder and the garlic salt becasue the salt alone isn't enough garlic for me ) brush on both sides..and grill em' up baby!

I'm assuming no one will be in chat tonight..but just in case..I'm going to keep checking-in.

We took DJ out to lunch for his birthday. My mama and Robin joined us and we had a nice time. We went to a place called Colton's...not sure if the are a chain but they are a steakhouse and they are very good. I had a grilled chicken salad with my ranch dressing on the side. When it arrived there was a fly struggling in my dressing I asked the waitress if I might have a enw salad and assured her that the chicken was all the protein I needed

After lunch DJ and Darrell and I went to see Hancock. I had no idea what to expect as I had heard nothing about it. Darrell has been saying for 2 days that he wanted to go and that in itself is pretty amazng because the man never leaves the couch so going to the show is unheard of. It was pretty good.....it is hard to go wrong with Will Smith. A little slow in the beginning but not bad. It is definitely not 'I Am Legend' but still good.

So what about that chat?

I love fireworks. Long ago, (before I knew people that lived there) I used to make runs to Missouri to buy good ones. Even had a source for REAL M-80's, the kind that would take your fingers off (great for fishing). I'd spend several hundred dollars on them. I'd shoot roman candles off when we were deer hunting. Also loved the professional shows.

But I respected my neighbors. I didn't shoot them off late at night. Certainly not at 11:30pm. Certainly not 3 nights in a row.

So...I've got neighbors that don't care. Mixed with booze, a quiet night so that sounds carry, party atmosphere... I thought they actually quit at 11:30. But since they didn't, I got up and went outside to find out where they actually were coming from.

Called the police department and complained. "We'll send someone out..." but they didnt sound that convincing. I don't call 9-1-1 for something like this. By now, it's 11:45. I wait outside in the dark, the party was down the street. But there was a 2nd and then a 3rd place close by shooting them off too, but they all quit. Great...call the cops, and then there is nothing to complain about.

It's now 12:10. Other than hearing the voices and an occasional yell from the party, all is quiet. No cops to be seen. So, I decide to call it a night. Just as I reach for the door handle, out goes a Roman Candle. BOOM! goes a mortor tube type with a nice display. Enough is enough.

Call the cops again, get ahold of the same 'Operator 27', tell her that it's still going on, that a party is taking place, and she can hear the firworks going off over my phone. This time her voice was more believeable when she said she'd send someone out.

I sit back on the porch steps. I can see headlights when a car is coming from a couple blocks down. The car was getting closer, and I could hear it slow down, then the headlights went out. I looked, and could see that white car slowly making it's way down the street. I have a flashlight with me so I flag them down.

I no more tell them that I'm the one that called, that the party is on the left side of the street, and the cops are looking where I am directing, when the idiots, with such perfect timing let loose with another Roman Candle. The cops were on them like fleas on a Missourian's back. It sure got quiet down there real quick!

Not sure what the outcome was. The cops were down there for 20 minutes at least. When they left, it remained quiet except from the guy that got caught red-handed with the Roman Candle. With fortification from a bottle, and with the law no longer in sight, he was loudly talking. False bravado. I could hear bits of it, how 'he stood up' to the cops, how he was 'giving them s***' and 'just wait until tomorrow..I'll have a big, homemade one, made with gun powder'. But the spell was broken, in 10 minutes the party broke up and people went home.

Like I said, I love fireworks. But there is a time and place for them and you need to respect the rights of others. I will not allow them to go on so long tonight. If it is past 10pm, I'll be on the phone. The fireworks they had are not legal in Ohio to begin with.

FC.. I totally sympathise and good on you for standing up for your home.

Here in London where 99% of house are row houses fireworks in the hands of nutty people take on a whole other possibility of danger. They have a night in Novemeber called Guy Fawkes night and for about a week before and a week after it's fireworks all night. Als during the Hindu Sikh New years

That cat was able to wrest the gun away from his attacker and shoot him. The attacker is now in a wheelchair doing 10 years for aggrivated assult and where he is doing bubba's bidding. 'Squeal like a pig!'
