Okay...my stupid modem broke, so that's why I was typing on my hubby's phone for yesterday's post.

About my dump-thing from yesterday...

OMGosh!!! There are just no words to describe how bad I felt. I ate a tbs. of a salmon burger and a tbs. of a canned peach (in lite syrup, drained). I think it was the peach...but I fell asleep almost immediately after eating lunch. Two or so hours later I woke up with nausea and stomach cramps. Went to the bathroom and started the whole sweating, shaking, cramping, stuff. Could not get it out...then I started getting dizzy and next thing I know I'm on the bathroom floor waking up! I haven't fainted since I was like 10 years old. I was very blessed in that I didn't hit my head or break anything. Just knocked the trash can over on me. Dragged myself back up to the toilet and was FINALLY able to get the yuck out of me. Of course, I was naked this whole time since I was sweating profusely and my heart rate was through the rough. NOT FUN.

Didn't eat or drink anything until about 10pm last night. I just felt too bad. I tried to sip fluids, but it just made me pukey. Dinner went down okay and I almost feel back to "post-op normal". Which isn't actually "normal", yet.

I still couldn't gag down more than 8 oz. of fluid this a.m., so I went to a gas station in search of a s/f, non-carb. drink. Found lemon Propel...prayed I could tolerate it and have been drinking on it since. It's actually very good and I can get 3 or 4 sips in each time. I feel SOOOO dehydrated. But, now that I found something I can drink...that's all I'll be doing today. I don't even care if I eat today...I just want to drink, drink, drink.

I had an appointment with my GP this morning and had her take vit./min. levels. I guess it'll take about a week to get the results. Just want to see if I need to add more supplements.

You know, I had been a good month or so w/out aspartame when I had surgery...now I'm having to drink/eat it again. I just can't win.

Try pkts of True Lemon, True Lime or True Orange in your water. These are made from the oils of the fruit and have no sweetening-says you can even cook with these although I havent tried. You can Google True Lemon and sign up for a free sample. Sometimes I have them plain in my water and sometimes I sweeten with Splenda or stevia. Your eating plan is so different from mine was and another poster who recently had surgery, it was liquids, thicker liquids, semi solids, and eventually solids and this worked well for me. The lite syrup in the peaches probably had too much sugar for you. I didn't eat fruit until I had healed more after my surgery. There is canned fruit you can get that is sweetened with Splenda. Hope your appt goes well!

Hi all,

I'm visiting home in Tennessee this week so just popping in for a minute to say hi. Mysti, you look awesome, and I'm so glad things are going well (except for that whole dumping thing--eek!). I'm doing pretty well with food choices and of course I love the compliments from people who haven't seen me since before my surgery.

Hope you're all having a great week!

AAAGGGHHHH!!!!

Still no internet for me. I'm at my friend's house again. I'm doing pretty good. I have more energy now that I'm drinking more.

I exercised for the 1st time yesterday. It was good...I walked for 25 min. on my tready.

Hope everyone's doing well!

We finally gave up on our internet provider and went and bought a modem last night. Five days with no internet is the equivalent of hell to me. But, praise God, I'm back online. I don't know if anyone here saw my other post in the CC, but my cat, Charlie, was killed by a coyote last night. I hope I can eat at sometime today because right now it's not looking promising. Maybe I'll just try and drink protein shakes today.

I'm down another pound...finally. I've been trying to lose that stupid pound this whole week.

I walked on the tready again yesterday for about 10 minutes. I also rode a bike for about 5 minutes. It hurt my butt, so I had to go back home. I wish I could find a big, comfy seat. Those small ones are torcher (sp?) devices.

I gotta run get ready for my doc's appointment. I'm finally seeing my surgeon today. Hopefully I won't start crying about Charlie when I'm in there.

My surgeon said I was doing great and to keep it up. He liked the amount of weight I've lost and wants me in the 220s by the 3-month mark. I still can't wrap my head around the idea that it's even possible to lose that much weight in 3 months.

I took my dog, Gracie, to the dog park today and walked 2 laps. The 1st one was really good...but I was pretty tired after the 2nd one. It feels so wonderful being able to do more than just lay on the couch. I'm convinced it's the fluids.

I finally got my appetite back around 1pm today. I ate a small portion of spinach pizza from Whole Foods. Then I had a 4oz. cup of yogurt around 4pm. I'm cooking salsa chicken tonight so I'm looking forward to that.

Banded 5-31!

Well, I did it...Flew to Monterrey, Mexico on May 30th...banded on the 31st...flew home on the 2nd. Moving a little slow, but everything seems to be healing well. There were three other women who had the surgery on Thursday that I was able to speak with...they actually had me scared to death, lol, but I think I was really one of the lucky ones who breezed through the surgery and had hardly any of the severe shoulder pain that I have heard about since the beginning of my quest. I have lost 6 pounds since my surgery, and hoping to have my first fill in three weeks. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Here's my menu for today...

breakfast-12 oz. protein smoothie
water-17 oz.

lunch-2 bean/cheese/sour cream nachos
water-17 oz.

dinner-salsa chicken, peas
water-17 oz.

snack-yogurt 4 oz. and/or s/f popsicle

I'm taking my dog to the dog park again today to walk. I did 2 laps yesterday, so I'm shooting for 3 today.

My weight hasn't changed this week. But I'm doing everything right so I know I'll start losing again soon.

Have a great Saturday, everyone!!!

I am doing an awesome job at maintaining. I have been between 142 and 144 for every weigh (did see 139 for a day or two)... for about 3 months now. My NUT told me that I am still in my losing phase but just in a stall right now. I'd love to settle into the 130's but if I don't... it's ok. I'm still happy with how far I've come.

You guys are doing great and I am so happy to see all of these new faces and newbies joining us on the losers bench!!

I have done a great job controllign my blood sugars the last week or so... LC it is and it's working. So I'm happy.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Gracey - First of all...I love your name! My mini-doxie is named Gracie. Her favorite position.

I had RNY, so I can't really give you any advice, but I do want you to know that I'll be praying for you and your doctor. You can do this. If I can get through getting my guts cut apart and rearranged, then anyone can! And I'm glad you're getting banded...the RNY is rough, to say the least. Come in here anytime...day or night...for support. I check into this board many times during the day and so do others.

One thing to remember is to do what your doc says. I have found that my surgeon is much more lenient than others when it comes to food. But don't do what you see anyone here doing...do what he says.

Take care of yourself and we can't wait to hear how everything went!

Amber, I'm so proud of you!!! That's such a huge concern with everyone...maintaining. I'm so glad you have found a way to do it. My doc told me that this is the time (for me) to start making good habits with food. Because eventually I will be able to eat more. I had wondered (pre-op) if wls patients ate high protein/low carb. I was so successful eating that way before. I was so thrilled when I found out that's what you and many others do. My NUT want's me to eat a little bread, a cracker or rice everyday right now. Just to get in the carbs I need. I honestly can take them or leave them, so when I can tolerate veggies more I'm going to cut them back. I'd rather be getting my carbs from something that is actually nutritious.

I had a problem yesterday with my lunch. I was cleaning out the fridge and ate 2 grilled shrimp (medium sized). Thirty minutes later I sat down and ate a mini-nacho...one of those scoop tostidos with refried beans, cheddar and sour cream in it. I guess I ate too much because I got severly nausious. I finally had to go take a bath (my answer to all problems) and I really thought I was going to throw-up while in there...but I didn't. I then went and laid down on my bed and fell asleep for 2 hours. I woke up and it had all past into my intestines...but I couldn't believe how ill I got. I really didn't think that was over my limit.

I did try to throw-up, but that's something that is very hard for me to do. And it's really the 1st time I've tried post-op. I don't want to ever think it's okay to overeat 'cause I can just throw up. I want to be fit and healthy, not trade in one eating disorder for another. My friend that's also had this surgery is throwing up quite a bit now. I'm really worried about her...I've talked to her about it, but she always says she feels so much better.

I feel like that negative reinforcement (the nausea) is good for me. It shows me what happens when I overeat. That trains me to not eat too much. I don't like feeling pukey! Anyway, just wanted to share that...it's been weighing heavy on me lately.

I'm still amazed at how much I have to learn about eating and drinking. Wow, it's like I'm a baby learning how to eat for the first time.

But, I am finally glad I had this surgery. It is doing for me what I could not do for myself. I made these amazing meatballs last night. One was the perfect size for my meal. It was so good I practically moaned with each bite. If I had not had this surgery, I would've eaten many, many more just because they tasted so good. But my little pouch makes me say no and have self-control with overeating. That's exactally what I needed. Tomorrow will be my 3-week anniversary. It seems like the LONGEST 3 weeks of my life. But it's really only a drop in time compared to the rest of my life.

Geez, I'm chatty this morning.

Take care.

You are doing wonderful... KUTGW!

I to am worried about your friend... she really needs to see a someone about this....

I had gastric stampling done in 1982, when I was able to eat, I begin a vicious cycle of bindging and plurging... not know it was called bulimia at the time.... this stretch my stomach out to the point that it collapes.... I had to go thur another surgery to repair this and it cause alot of problems not only with my stomach but with my esphogus......

she really needs to talk to someone and stop this behavior before it does major damage to her body....

I understand that with this surgery sometime especially in the begining that we might over eat and we might have to get rid of it... she really needs to be encourage to eat smaller bits, chew, chew, chew and then wait a few minutes to make sure it going to settle before eating more....

I know this is none of my business... but, I had to say something....
