Jennifer! That's really exciting that you and your hubby are getting banded. Guys usually lose fast than women, so try not to strangle him if that happens. ![]() Lisa, good luck with your testing today. For me, they did some labs, checked my heart, asked me about a zillion questions, did some xrays...nothing too exciting, it just took awhile. But you're one step closer! How's everyone doing this morning? I just watered all my plants so I actually have accomplished something already! ![]() |

Well... I just plunked down the deposit for Hubby and I to go on the Low Carb Cruise!
Low Carb Cruise 2009 The price was really too good to pass up, and DH has never been on a cruise... so I got him to agree! |

Jennifer - I'm glad you made it over here!!!
Mysti - I'm glad you're feeling better and that everything turned out well! Some people over at lapbandtalk have said they blended Wendy's Chili for the mushie stage, so I'm looking forward to that! Nancy - Congratulations!!!! Tracy - That sounds like fun! We've never been on a cruise either. I told my DH that when I got skinny I wanted to go on one. I wouldn't go now because I refuse to wear a bathing suit in public! I'm 7 days in to my pre-op diet and have lost 10 lbs!! 7 more to go until banding day!!! ![]()

Nancy congratulation it won't be long now, I know you are excited
Mysti there are several people that eat cereal in our support meeting they say you have to let it get soggy before you eat it... Yuk one guy that had the lap band done at some dry and it stopped him up, he said he would never do that again... Tracy the cruise sounds like alot of fun,.... me and dh talk all the time about going on a cruise, maybe some day.... Kyla 10lb thats awesome.... Well here goes the count down ![]() I went to my pre=op testing they took blood, had to pee in a cup and asked me tons of question and that was it, I left there and went to the pool and exercised for 2 hours.... Now I wait ![]()

Thanks everyone!!
Tracy~ DH and I cruise every year. I love going to all the exotic places. I love Belize and Grand Cayman Island. Mysti~ I think the one thing I will miss is sweet tea. I don't drink it that often (3 or 4 times a year), but I love it. I know I can do tea with splenda, but its just not good southern sweet tea!! Lisa~ how did your testing go? Kyla~ Woo Hoo!! 10lbs is awesome. Jennifer~ To cool that you and your DH are gonna be banded together. |

Everyone is doing so great! I got the confirmation email about the cruise! YaY!!!! OH and I've always been a big girl that loved the water... and to this day my swim suit staple wearing a pair of board shorts over my suit.. to camaflage my tummy and upper thighs...... I doubt that will ever change |

Hi everyone,
Kyla, I know you're soooo excited! The preop diet sucks, but it'll be over before you know it. I'll be thinking about you the day of. Everyone is doing so well, and so many new faces. How nice that we all managed to find each other. I've been dealing with a touchy pouch for the last couple of days. I use a Mirena IUD for birth control and my fill doc told me she's had a number of patients who used it who reported being super-tight for the two weeks before TOM. I got the band and the IUD within a month of each other, so I think I've been paying more attention to the band than the Mirena (which I love otherwise, by the way). My cycle was completely thrown off after the band and the new bc method and I'm just now starting to be able to track it. All of which is by way of saying that I think my fill doc may be right, as I'm nearing TOM and I'm getting stuck right and left. This morning it was three bites of scrambled eggs and two bites of whole grain toast (just had my first PB at work, which is not awesome). Last night some pork salsa verde gave me fits, but I think it's because I had about 1/4 cup of brown rice with it. I just have to accept that rice and I are not meant to be. I love brown rice, but I get stuck on it about half the time, and I haven't figured out how to predict it, so I think I'll just have to cut it out. It's frustrating but not the end of the world. I wish the Band came with one-size-fits-all instructions, because figuring it out as I go along stinks sometimes. That said, though, as always I'm so grateful to have it. Even when it and I are not getting along, I wouldn't trade it. This weekend the bf and I went hiking, and it was so wonderful to be out there, scrambling over rocks and walking through the woods. I was so aware of the movement of my body and how much easier it is without the 46 extra pounds I was carrying this time 5 months ago. Have a great day, ladies!

Jenny: Pre Band I used one of those "RINGS" and after band....... they make me SICK.. weird weird weird...... I talked to my gyn about it and she had no idea,,,, just said that maybe my weight loss had affected it and that it was a side effect that a few women had... so NO RING for me anymore.... boring ol condoms! (TMI) Which the whole CONCEPT of Birth Control is so wild since I spent ALL of my first marriage and TrYING to get preggers but PCOS wouldn't let me........ ( Low Carbing Changed all that ) which is how I have my Atkins Baby (nearly 5 years old ) So after him I had to start using SOMETHING. LOL

Jenny - You are doing so well! Congratulations! I am so glad you made that post. I have my annual GYN exam 10 days after my banding date. I was going to ask for Mirena because I am horrible about taking my birth control pills and I was worried about pregnancy post-band. I think I may wait a little bit and see how I do with the band first. Your post was perfect timing! Thanks!!

Interesting post, Tracy. There has to be some explanation for it (just like there has to be some explanation for why so many people are tight in the mornings)--I think it's fascinating how interdependent our different body systems are and how a tweak in one area can affect others. If you get tired of the ol' condom method, as I said I really like my Mirena (lasts 7 years, easily removable, no lasting impact on fertility so you could theoretically get pg the next month if you decide you want to). I don't have health insurance, so I was paying $50/month for my bc pills--the Mirena was $600, so even if I only kept it for a year I'd break even.
Kyla, that's exactly why I decided to get an IUD--I pretty regularly missed a pill here and there and knew it would be just like me to spend $10,000 on this surgery only to end up pregnant just a few months out. If you have any other questions about the Mirena, I'd be happy to answer. |

I don't use birth control and never have (PCOS). My DH keeps talking about getting snipped, just in case. I think he would actually cry if I were to get preggers. I know I would. I have 2 adoped children and 1 step daughter (all adults now) and 6 grandbabies, so no room for any more babies in our house.

Kyla, next time you think about it, let me know. You can borrow Willow for a day. She's an angel, very easy, but also at that "chase me" stage!
I have my seminar July 5th...it seems sooooo far away! How bad is the initial paperwork? |

I WISH HUBBY WOULD GET SNIPPED!!!!!!!!! LOL.... he is SO afraid of me getting pregnant that he would give up sex first! (but combined we have 4 boys!) 13,11,8,4... and let me tell you it ain't no picnic! We put a halt to complete family vacations until they grow out of the stage they are in..... (think beating each other up in front of a crowd at Silver Dollar City, while Dad was on stage participating in the show) NOT PRETTY
Robby is my LC miracle and I am so happy to have him.. I got to go through pregnancy and breast feeding and all that..... so I am happy being done.. (plus I'm 38) OH and I HAVE NEWS!!!! ![]() I got to 179 BEFORE VEGAS!!!!!! I was looking at my weight chart (and xcel spread sheet that I created in 2003 after Robby was born.) I’ve hit a new low on it……. I guess the lowest I got the last time ( in 2005 ) was 181.2. The FIRST time I did Low Carb back in 1999 – 2000 I did get to 174. I can not believe I am closing in on 100 lbs lost! Looking back I hit 189.4 on 3/25/08……….. so, it has taken me 3 months to lose 10 lbs… MAYBE I can make the 160’s in another 3 months… But again… I KNOW that if I drank some water I’d be even lower. I am basking in the glory of the 170’s today, because I KNOW that I will be bad in Vegas and bounce back up… but OH WELL, I’m here today. |
