Lola they raised my property tax from $101,000.00 to $140,000.00. I would be happy if I could sell at that price but everything around us has turned into run down rental property.
Our house is old and needs a kazillion fixes...including a new well. This is my second appeal as they turned my first one down after 5 months of sitting on it. I wrote them a book with pictures this go round. Hope it does some good.

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!

Lyonnesse~ Funny, we switched positions. I was born in Texas and now I'm up here in buckeye land, just outside of Mansfield. I don't envy you with those summers, but come winter I'll be singing a different tune!

Zer~ When I started I couldn't do much physically, either. Between the weight, the low thyroid and the anemia my energy level was a negative 0. It's only been the past few weeks that I've felt good enough to get my body moving. I've been walking 4-5 times a week and the change in how i feel is just...astonishing! I have dreams of running, biking, hell even roller blading! imagine that! I'll work up to it, by golly.

Mycattaz ~ I'm the same way! I save it all for the weekend so I can check out yard sales while I'm in town (I'm in the boondocks, too!). We leave the house with long to-do and to-get lists, there is no such thing as a casual trip anymore!

I use to love to just take a day of lesure and go shopping...or just looking... now being so far out, it takes to much gas to go looking.....

No luck in getting up and OUT...so far...today...

Well, my small activity level is hardly 'exercise' but it is what it is. We all function at the level that we can manage.

how did your trip to the Post Office and Carl's go?
Did not make it. Not Wed, as planned. Not Thurs. Not today, at least not yet. It's almost 11am and I think I'm just barely going to get some wash done today. If that's it, that's it for the day. Maybe maņana for toting trash out, collecting mail, and possibly also a double-patty cheeseburger at Carls (no bun, no mayo, no catsup, no mustard) for a treat. Probably depends on how my Sat morn weigh-in goes, how much energy I have to sally forth and do battle Saturday.

Having to coax UPS to deliver my pkgs to this bldg, as they've once again dropped my Netrition delivery at the school office (Monday) and I am hoping will pick it up and bring it to this bldg. I cannot possibly go get it myself. What to do? The delivery guy has told me to my face that the school clerk says it's FINE for him to drop off my pkgs there - even if I want stuff to be carried to this bldg. Local UPS office failed to get him to fix the delivery on Thurs, when I called; they said they'd have him bring me the pkg, but he did not do so. So, I called UPS again today. Takes a lot out of me, hassling and waiting and hoping. How can it be so hard to deliver a pkg that says NOT TO THE SCHOOL? Yet UPS guy (Luther; we've met and we've talked about this) is still doing it - and when I saw his truck fly by my window yesterday, I had not heard the doorbell ring, as it would had he brought me the pkg. Clearly his truck - nearly airborne as he gunned the engine - did not pause as he flew by on his way off the property. Maybe today, huh? Or maybe Monday, a full week after he ditched the box at the school's front desk. Grrr-r-r-r!

Gosh, I'd love to tear a meaty cheeseburger into bits. I'm feeling aggressive and almost carnivorous as I think of Luther and other frustrations in my life. Who knows but I may YET find myself gunning my 1989 Plymouth's engine as I drive off the property to collect my mail and buy myself a meaty burger!

Anger CAN be used as a positive tool. This COULD work in my favor!!!

*ha ha ha* I'm laughing as I write this, because I just drank my hot slosh and I can feel the 43gProtein stiffening my backbone and giving me courage! How blessed I am, to have my WPP handy, to make me feel nourished and to give me strength to do what I need to do, day by day!

Zer sorry this is happening again...why would he think it's ok to leave it at the desk if it never gets to you???could you ask the secretary to bring it up?? maybe a few times of that and she would tell UPS to take it to you themselves

I had to give up calling the school, as they truly do not have an obligation to render service to the folks who live here - and are often brusque in saying as much when asked to handle matters better than they do. I'd rather that UPS just delivered what I pay to be delivered. I'm now switching to another delivery service as often as it is available. Netrition apparently deals with UPS exclusively, so I do not have an option to switch to FedEx for deliveries, but I do use FedEx when that is an option. Maybe I'll tell that to UPS next time I have to chase down a failed delivery. Meanwhile I am hopeful that UPS can manage to collect the pkg and bring it to me. Uh, LIFE!

Hey all! I have been busy! Babygirl has decided to attempt walking, so that means even more floor time. lol. That and I keep forgetting to look for a new thread!

Speaking of Hannah, I got her cardio report back. She is good news for the moment. We are taking her to a genetic specialist to see if she has the gene for cardiomyopathy, so we will address that then. I am PRAYING like mad that she favors my side completely. The alternative is nothing I want to think about. Heart transplants are years in the waiting lists.

Is that Hannah peering back at us?

Love your avatar, GettinSerious! I'm betting that is Miss Hannah, peering at us - what a doll! Hope she can do without surgery, as I gather there are several done on a small child who then grows and needs more patching up?

From the mouths of babes: Fatkins... Whale Watchers...

Wonderful anecdote! This is priceless!

Zer- Yes that is lil miss Hannah. She won't need surgery for her heart unless she develops cardiomyopathy. And then they would replace it with an age appropriate heart. I don't like thinking about that. Bad news all around, because someone has to die for my girl to live. I know it would just be buried anyways, but it would hurt me forever if it turned out having to be a child's heart.

Hi everybody!
Haven't posted for a while, but I drop by most days to see how everyone's doing and get a dose of encouragement.
Friday is my regular day off (as of about a month ago), so I took time for a pedicure. What a marvelous way to start a day! After a couple of other stops plus Sam's Club, Vitamin Cottage, and WalMart, I think that maybe ending the day with a pedicure might be better. That kind of running around just does me in. At least the pantry is re-stocked...I'm broke but stocked!

On last weekend's "errand running", I gave in to craving and had a high carb lunch. So today I had a plan: ate a good breakfast (quiche I'd made a few days ago), then made a wpp shake (with coffee & peanut butter) to take with me. Wow; it really does pay to plan for success in this WOE! Even though I didn't get home til mid-afternoon, I'd been fed enough to appropriately tide me over and get to the leftovers in the fridge.

I've managed to go down 2 more pounds since my last post (seems slow for someone my size, but at least I'm no longer gaining). I SO want to move that slider on my scale below 250.

Morning all,

Well we did end up going to Galveston yesterday, with my daughter and a little neighbor boy that had NEVER been to the ocean. We picked up shells, walked in the water, played with the dogs...it was an ok day only brought down by my exes irratic nutty driving and his tailgaiting and yelling at every driver that had the audacity to be in front of him...it really did make me realize how glad I was that I had divorced him 11 years ago LOL. I did finally step in and tell him to straighten up, since we had a little rider but thankfully he slept most of the way home. I did manage to get a bit of sun, and the exercise has me down another pound today..well along with my not eating at the fast food spot they did and having just some Budding Beef i got at walmart.

This morning I have some walking to do so hopefully tomorrow I will be down again. I want to rush to the next goal. I love how I am feeling, feeling smaller even though as big as I am it takes a lot to be noticed by anyone else, though I have had to move one ring to my middle finger because it is slipping around too loose on my ring finger.

Hope everyone is having a great Low Carb Day
Vicki
