Keep on working at it and you will soon find yourself having to buy braces to hold those britches up! Guys lose weight so much faster. You'll see. Once you get to burning calories, you will be worried about those same pants falling off of you. I promise!

Hey Sally,
I am lurking, did not want to wander to far from the group. I am afraid I will have much damage to recover from! I will be going to the grocery store tomorrow. Not sure exactly what that outcome will be. Nothing much on sale so far. I have gained, (as I knew I would) 6lbs from eating carby junk. (rice, taters, etc.) I am really hopeful that I will be able to restock my pantry and reinduct starting Friday. I am going to continue to use my vwpp, since it's already paid for. I know it's not really induction, but it's protein and I am broke. If I have problems getting back into ketosis, I will drop it for a week. Do you kwow that I went to buy a bell pepper on Saturday for a recipe and it was $1.89 for ONE GREEN BELL PEPPER!!! This is crazy!! Anyways, I will do my best to get back on track Friday. Toodles til then

I bought a green pepper for kabobs today...$.99 for 1. I did get sirloin steak on sale at Super KMart for $2.99 per lb.
I sat with my Dad today so Mom could go to a funeral. This affects my eating somewhat... Breakfast 3 sausage patties from McDonalds Lunch 5 vienna sausages and 2 oz cheese Supper was sirloin kabobs w/ grilled peppers, onions, and grape tomatoes. I had some cucumber slices on the side All in all not too bad for the day. Thanks for the sympathy over losing Elvis. He lived a long life and had good care. He passed on in December 2007. He is buried in my back yard so I speak to him frequently. I hope he can hear that he is still remembered with love. I am going to get a break from Gavin tomorrow. My sister in law is taking him for an outing part of the day. I don't know what I will do with myself all alone. Between the cost of gas and the heat I will be here at home. Everybody post lots to keep me from being lonely! Jean

Hi-
Zer and Sally and everyone thanks for the leg/ankle compliments. I still feel like a huge, enormous seacow/beached whale most of the time. Still get stares and treate like an escapee from the traveling circus but I know that will stop happening with time as my weight goes down and my fitness level goes up. (at least I HOPE that is what will happen as those things take place!) I will look into an ankle bracelet-that's a nice idea, Zer. Thanks! I am fighting cravings for salt and chocolate and carbs today. Been stressing as I job hunt and try not to melt in the heat. Hope everyone is doing well. **hugs** --Laura |

blabbermouth
i've been reading the forums all day off and on at work and wanted to post but was too busy to get more than a few seconds LOL
i LOVE ankle bracelets and toe rings, i always wear one during the summer and paint my toenails cuz i love to wear sandals my weight was 204 at the end of last week and has settled at 203 this week so far, doesnt fluctuate like it used to day after day, which is odd ive been doing good at keeping calories around 1550 instead of the 1660 i was at before and im working on the theory that if i keep my calories the same daily, i will shed weight regularly as my body doesnt think i'm starving itself...so if i end up a bit under (which is rare), i try to eat a bit of protein and bump it up...LC choices have been so-so i found a nice treat, but i'm not sure how LC it is...i cut up apple chunks and boiled it down to an apple-pie texture, tossed in cinnamon and splenda and served with LC whipped cream, tasted just like apple pie ![]() if i had to say im a cat or dog person, i truly think i'd vote for kids LOL ....i am constantly surrounded by kids and kept going in diff directions....sometimes i wonder if my son got his ADHD from me ![]() i LOVE cats but am deathly allergic to them...my throat swells shut, nose swells shut, eyes swell shut, can't breathe etc...it used to be severe enough to be epipen-proportions so i just stayed away from cats...but then three years ago a stray settled into our yard and i finally fed her so she wouldn't starve...and then i sorta let her in the house to drink from a water bowl...and then she sorta stayed with us....i searched forever to find her owner and couldn't come up with anyone, tried to give her away and no one wanted her...so she's sorta become ours, i just can't be too close to her etc...if i pet her, i need to wash my face and hands immediately and wash my clothes shortly afterward...her claws on me make me break out in hives all around where she touched me, same for where her nose touches me...luckily she is an anti-social cat and wants nothing to do with any of us we feed her and water , and she comes and goes as she pleases through a tiny hole in the floor of an extra bathroom (she refuses to use the kitty door)...i named her D.C. after the old disney movie "that darn cat"i also love dogs and grew up around dogs, thanks to a dad who's also deathly allergic to cats LOL....had several very mean dogs on our alaskan homestead and finally got a friendly newfoundland that we had for years until she passed away....she is now buried by mom's rhubarb patch and mom swears the rhubarb grows better than ever now ![]() |

blabbermouth continued....
so last fall my husband was working for a medical supply company and this foreign lady had a purebred black lab, 2, who needed a home because she was leaving the country....no buyers for her so the lady let my husband bring the doggy home, named sitka
i love dogs and my patience lasted half a year LOLOL....being two, she refused to eat ANY BRAND of dog food we bought, even the brand the original owner said she ate....she was scared of our cat, pulled when my older son walked her, and shredded everything in sight when no one was home with her that alone we could have dealt with...even though the owner NEVER told us any of this....then sitka ran away and was gone a whole night, we searched for HOURS and finally found her the same time the dog catchers did...turns out she has a LONG history of running away...which we also weren't told by the owner, who by then had passed away within two weeks of giving us this doggy every time we opened the door, she'd dart out and run off, wouldn't come back when called, us and all the kids would be out searching for her until SHE decided to come home....every evening was spent hollering at the kids to "SHUT THE DOOR SITKA"S GONNA GET OUT" ![]() husband would let her out to pee and off she'd go...we opened the screen door and off she went...jumped over the baby gate a few times at the doors...finally after yet another weekend of looking for this $%*%& dog we decided to find her a new homewe had a response from a woman who is a dog trainer WITH a fenced yard YAY! er...not so fast...the very first day this woman had sitka, she jumped the fence and ran away....same day, she got out the front door and ran away....now sitka is being well-cared-for at the animal shelter and waiting adoption for a family who has a GIANT fenced yard LOL....animal control officers think she will be easy to place, as she is a gentle, sweet family dog and very protective...phew!! i'm exhausted lol |

Oh, so THAT's what "cankles" are! I've heard the word but was clueless what it meant. My own wrists and ankles tend to be substantial. I was about 12 when a neighbor commented that I had football legs, meaning no ankles to speak of. I was not a fat 12yr-old, but clearly was not developing girlie ankles as I ran barefoot on molten blacktop in hot summers in San Antonio. I'd already determined that I had inherited the massive ankles that I saw on my paternal g'mother, an Irishwoman whose big ankles overflowed her sensible orthopedic shoes. She was not particularly fat, but her ankles were massive. As my own ankles failed to turn out nice and trim as my peers' ankles did, I decided that I had my grandmother's ankles. Cankles. Great word for great big ankles. Probably I could work on developing my calf muscle size, to differentiate calves from cankles. But they are BIG, even with less edema. Still lots of flesh, skin, from back when the edema was massive and my cankles bulged over the top of my socks. Awful to think of how gross that looked. Sigh.

Ideas on how to use free time, ME TIME!
Oh, you'll have some ME TIME to do something nice for yourself, like soak your feet and make them feel pretty with a pedicure or at least a creaming. The nice thing about creaming my feet is that my hands get the benefit too. I soak them in a fragrant warm footbath and then work some of the rough skin off with a cream that helps slough off dead skin. Then soak again, before drying, cutting softer toenails and rubbing cuticles away, then creaming feet. Finally, my pink feet go into fresh white socks. Ah, nice thing to do for the feet that carry me wherever I want to go! I don't do this nearly often enough. So, does this sound like a good way to spend your free time?

actually I keep mine at room temperature which makes it liquid..and I just eat it that way with a spoon...I actually love how it feels in the mouth and the taste..in fact I love it TOO much..yesterday I thought I had overdid - I probably ate 1/4 cup of the stuff... but today I not only dropped the extra water weight the pork rinds had me retaining but lost another half pound..even having ate nearly 2000 calores AND way too MUCH CO.
i Love when you FEEL smaller...today I do..and my legs and feet look smaller..and my rings are looser...i am thankful to find aspertane isnt affecting me because I am on a diet jello and cream cheese kick..lets hope it works 2 days in a row... BTW I am a definite Dog person We have a YorkiePoo and a Chihuahua... definitely my babies. Cats are too independent and want to train me..I am definitely not trainable LOL..we always had them on the farm for rodent control and I have had them here in texas for outdoor snake control but i am more doggie than cattie...:-) Zer keep up the good work...find what works for you...if you keep reading and trying and changing it up..you will definitely keep going downwards in weight. I always smile when I read your journey. Vicki

Doctor wanted me to lose 30 lbs before surgery that was on April 2, and here it is June 12 and I have only lost 10.... I have all my protein drink ready, my broths, vitamins ready for the big day.... Well I have busted my butt all day. I went outside while it was still cool enough and blew off our sidewalks. I watered my potted coleus so they won't wilt today. That was enough for outside cause we have a huge fire burning on the coast of NC. Today the smoke has moved here to central NC. It smells awful outside.
I came inside and washed little handprints off the doors and windows on the sun porch. I don't usually bother except on the weekend cause that is Gavin's indoor play space. I grilled myself 3 small hamburger patties while I worked. After my brunch I took the gas grill completely apart and cleaned the whole thing. I have showered, vacumned washed 2 loads of clothes, and am marinating boneless porkchops to mess up my clean grill with at supper time. OK I am ready for my "baby" to come back. Sister in law calls and says she has taken him to her house for the rest of the day. I am exhausted from rushing around but now I am bored stiff. Maybe I will paint my toenails. It is something I usually do after showering but I actually have time now. HAGD! Jean |

So what are your ratios when you put your food into FitDay? I'm curious. I'm not a fan of WLSurgery myself, having had a bad one in mid1970s and still having problems related to that process; I lost 200# (half my weight) and had problems from malnutrition; then the WLSurgery was reversed and I gained back all the weight and then some. This time I'm doing a healthier plan. |

thanks deb for the welcome back
Zer I too had WLS back in 1982 the staples have come apart.... its so much better today then back them... the support, the program all of it.... so much more information the back then too... You can do low carb with out the added fat.... the fat I eat comes from the foods I eat, like turkey, chicken, fish, ham... by no fats I meant no added fats.... my carbs are low just not as low as Atkins.... they come from my starches I eat like a small potato or a 1/2 cup of rice, fruit.... my protein I am keeping at 64 grams a day up.... anything over 64 grams a day is fantastic..... and of course I am eating my vegetables around 2 cups a day... more if I like... sample breakfast I had 1 whole egg 1 egg white 1 serving of canadian bacon ( which is 3 slices of oscarmeyer) 1 slice of low calorie bread w/ butter spray coffee snack a dill pickle dinner 1 boiled egg 4 slices of turkey 1 apple bottle water dinner a fish fillet baked and some kind of vegetable haven't decided yet... maybe green beans or brocolli for dessert A protein shake, chocolate blended with ice and ff milk to make a kinda milk shake of course this is not what I eat everyday, it changes... but this is for today.... |

oh I forgot to tell you this is just until the surgery... this is to shrink my liver and make me healther for surgery....
then its will be tuff for a few weeks until I can start adding food back in...... but until them I am suppose to get at least 64 grams of protein a day, I went to the nutritionist yesterday and she had wonderful ideas..... |
