Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the new folks and hope everyone is doing well.

Vicki-When I eat pork rinds, I usually gain or stay the same but I always attribute it to the salt content-pork rinds (at least the ones here) are really salty. Maybe that's why you didn't lose.

Mary-hope you are doing well. My kitties used to bring me gifts when they were allowed outdoors and to come and go as they pleased-lizards, butterflies, bugs, etc. Definitely love offerings. Made me wish they weren't so generous at times. Had a cat years ago who brought in bigger things-birds, a baby rabbit (I cried so much because it was only a baby bunny he had killed and to make things worse it was just before easter so I scolded my cat telling him he wasn't gonna get an easter basket for sure that year!) and other things. Had someone joke that the cat was trying to feed me and/or pay his rent for living with me. *L* I love my kitty boys so much and they are such a treasure-even when they bring me less than desirable love offerings-at least they try and it isn't because it is a holiday or special occassion or because they did something bad-it is Just Because!

Doing-keep up the great work and congrats on shedding even with the challenge of a stolen car! You're very dedicated!

Zer-hang in there. You can do it! I was wondering if you like asparagas-that can help with weight loss. Maybe if we mix up what you're eating, it will help some? I'm cheering you on and I believe in you!

Alaskan how are you? better today I hope.

Cris, Kim, AMM, Sally, Brenda-how are you?

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'm fighting cravings and tyring to figure out how to get in some exercise with our 100+ heat index today. Ready for the heatwave to break. Hoping for some rain this evening and later this week.

--Laura

awww thanks Lola. That was me last week when I was in Italy for Court. I was walking along the sea on the sidewalk that I wrote about back in Jan and Feb. Walking back from seeing a doctor to the square where my apartment used to be with my husband.

How are you Lola? Any job news? How is life in general?

Hey DEBBBBBBBBBB!!!

nice to see ya today...

just got back from going to a small town nearby with an antique shop..love rummaging around in those places though 3 others i wanted to hit were closed..dangnabit..

went to a farmers market..OMG the watermelons there was by the truckloads...and I mean big ones..about 5 semis sitting to be unloaded and all around the market...dang that that isnt low carb..I could live on watermelon alone..But I got squash..a starburst and cushaw...now if I only knew the carb content and a LC recipe for each of them...

probably no loss today for me...i had 3 servings of BBQ pork rinds...it was horrid..they called my name at the 99cent store..as I was walking down the aisle, being a good lil' girl getting her coconut milk to use in some unforseen recipe....they screamed HEY YOU!!!...

BTW Laura..I am an avid salt freak, i love it on my veggies and I get the natural sea salt..uncrushed and will put the crystals under my tongue to melt...must be some vitamin I am lacking which is not unusual for us Chrons disease people...i should be taking MORE vitamins I guess..but anyway..I drink lots of water hoping to flush it out...but maybe it is water retention with the pork rinds...but wont water go away quickly once I back off on it? could this mean a WHOOSH in the future...:-)

Went to some pawn shops..looked at some keyboards..think I am gonna get me one for my birthday...cant play my autoharp with my long fingernails right now(HOWEVER does Dolly do that is BEYOND ME)..and want to teach my daughter to harmonize better...so think I will enjoy having one to play around on...and 4 years of piano lessons I need to brush up on..

ok...i got to find something to use my energy up on...Friday I am hoping to convince the ex to go to Galveston so I can frolick in the sand and get some exercise..if the heat wont kill me LOL.

another encouraging day on the path to Life...Yummy Oh..

Vicki

Nope, I haven't gotten a job yet. I'm applying for some teaching positions so cross your fingers that I get something.

Life is okay in general. I'm pretty broke, but not feeling depressed. Feeling like I will change this situation soon.

Hi Everyone.
Laura - I like your avitar. Can't believe you had to go back there like that. Did you see the Pope gave a mass in your town there a few weeks back?

Well, Ladies. I took my test. I wasn't well-prepared. I took a lot of time to study court cases I thought would be on it - how they influenced special education, etc... and let's just say I wasted a lot of time that could have been better-spent. I can't get into specifics, so I won't. Just ticked me off. Spent yesterday afternoon - and today - eating lots of things I shouldn't have. I did, however, also go clothes shopping. I bought 2 skirts, a few tank tps for under jackets, and 1 shirt I could use as a jacket of a shirt. GOod news is they were all 2x's...and I used to be a 4x! Now, that is progress - even if I haven't recently made much... Also bought 2 pairs of shoes at Avenue. Their Cloudwalker shoes are GREAT - big sizes, plenty of wide widths, and they are comfy, too. Why I chose yesterday to do back-to-school shopping I don't know, but I did get a few good deals, so I guess that is okay. More later - and hi to everyone - Im just discombobulated right now...

Awwww, I can't tell you how many threads I have posted in and become kind of 4gotn or even unwanted...this is by far the nicest Welcome I have received! Thank you so much! Of course w/ all the kitties I will feel right and home and Yay....no more fur to get up my nose! hehe!

Zer What wonderful support there is, even for a slow loser like me. Thank you!

You are very welcome!

I'm still hopeful. Sooner or later, my scale will show if I am faithful in working my program - and in understanding what my body wants and needs to shed this excess weight. Goofing and eating all that fruit on Friday messed with my metabolism. Alas.

You will get it....we all will get it as long as we don't give up on ourselves.... I never give on anyone, that shows an effort but I give up on myself EVERY time!

I feel heavy today, so will not be asking my scale to give me any data. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe not. Dunno.

I felt heavy yesterday so waited until today! I think if you feel like that you shouldn't...I know for me I couldn't handle a let down right now!

Not so keen on the salmon and celery salad, but it's due to be finished today.
I got some salmon when I started this and after about 3 pouches, I just can't face it...I am not a huge fish eater but it sounded good and was...but not long term!

Summer is such a tough time to be obese. Not that there's an easy time.
You are so right! No time is easy but my lord, summer does make is so hard! I can't stand the heat! My mom is a small lady and complaining and I am like how do you think I feel w/ 200+ lbs of insulation! I hate summer! I love living in the boonies but HATE / deathly afraid of snakes.....snakes and heat....HATE summer
Zer, what kind of exercise do you do? Are you allowed to do??? There is a website collage video dot com and it has some videos for people that can't do much...even bed bound people! You might want to check that out.

EVERYONE: Okay I am new at this. I started May 26th ( I think) doing Atkins shakes for B and L and a more carb sensible dinner! Then went on what I thought was Atkins induction ( though some people seem a little to stuck on "clean" and if it isn't "clean" it isn't Atkins) doing an Egg Cream for Breakfast, kept me full all day and then ate dinner. Don't think I was eating enough though! This week I am still trying to "Atkins induction"!

I hadn't run anything through fitday yet , until today!

Didn't have the best day ( ate too many of those darn pork rinds, glad that bag is EMPTY) but I was at 101 Grams of Protein, 10 carbs and OMG 115g of fat!

Does that sound right????

I have high cholesterol and am due for a test so I think I will get it done now and then wait 1-3 months ( any suggestions on how long?) to have it redone!

What worries me most about the fat is that I have a sensitive gallbladder... I know when it is ready to act up and usually try to baby it a bit but won't eating this much meat and fat.

Okay so dont' bash me or throw me out of the group but I haven't read the book yet. I had the old book and did Atkins when it was the "hot diet" and lost 30lbs.

I was going to get a new book but then thought I might order the 72 version. Still havent' decided on versions so I haven't read up and am only going by the little I remember and what I read here.

also NO ketosis....always showing in "small" the darker pink but still pink and not purple.

I have lost though.....see my siggie!

I know that today's diet.....[cringes at fat count] was good for me. It si 5:41 and I haven't felt like crawling in bed and pulling the covers up over my head...and that hasn't happened in a long, long time!

I know this way of life is good for me, my face cleared up and my nails are growing....one is even bigger than I have ever had before.

Oh, it might help to add I am a girl! lol

any help or suggestions would be sooo appreciated!

Laura I Love the dress in your new pic...where did you find it? I haven't seen a dresss I like that much in ages.
Eating has been very light today. Sausage and eggs,1tbs peanutbutter,2 oz cheddar. It is 7:00 pm and I still don't want anything else to eat. Oh well ....I believe in listening to my body and so will not eat more unless my tummy rumbles.
Love to all,

Laura! You look completo bellissimo! (How's that? ). You truly are a beautiful person, inside and out. KUTGW!

4gotn1! good to see you around here!

Cris, it's so frustrating when we allow stressors like that to influence our eating! I've been doing the same myself lately, and although I've not ventured out into high carb territory I've done way too many calories of cheese and nuts which translates to no losses for me.

Hi Deb, Lyonnesse, bjw, zer and all I missed! Zer I thought of you today as I mixed up a nice tuna salad for lunch! My world has been transformed by finding sugar free sweet pickles! I love tuna salad with egg, mayo, chopped gherkins, onion and salt and pepper...mmmm.

just touching base with you all...i've been so incredibly busy that i BETTER be losing some weight from all this work LOL....we had 87 kids in my program today and it ran me ragged... i am responsible for the entire load of paperwork pertaining to rosters, attendance, wait-listed families, budget requests, maintenance requests, discipline and injury reports, compliance with state licensing regulations, and more....i help lead different groups of kids in activities and supervise the rooms, give other staff their breaks, supervise the lunchroom, answer phones and email and return calls etc....i could go on and on...so i've been walking my tail off at work, which is KILLER on my bad hip

my weight has been holding steady at 203-204 and i weighed in at 204 at the end of last week....my main problem with both counting calories and doing LC has been the total randomness of my schedule and the teeny TINY break that serves as my lunch "hour" ....i think my calories have been holding steady around 1550-1660 but i've been getting SO hungry during the day, which used to be rare...i'm wondering if it's because i'm on my feet so much more...i still feel like i'm losing or maintaining and some days i "feel" smaller than other days, it's weird

i need to get a handle on my routine though becuase i NEED that routine to keep my weight loss going

Long hard night - resisting temptation, fighting carby demons!

I've survived a wicked night of carby temptation. I think I'm through the worst of it now - and full of 40g of protein from my WPP hot slosh. Feeling nourished and not likely to browse the kitchen for available carbs. I hope.

Wow! Hooray for Alaska and Michael/berighteous for burning calories like all get-out as you hang in there on LC'ing. I'm stunned at your effort. Inspiring!

You've got to arrange some LC snax you can eat on the run, as you burn calories and provide breaks for everyone on this remarkable program you've got going. What a dynamo you are!

I feel as if I've lost weight just reading all the effort put forth by you two fine LCFriends! Me, my battle all night was to avoid drinking all the milk in the house. At 3am I whipped up some WPP and told myself I was victorious because I fought off the urge to swill milk, giving up on my LC program for yet another day of indulgence. Yay, me, for holding out. Thanks to my hinky hip, I stayed in bed (except for trips to the loo where I keep hoping to flush away some pounds - my only 'activity'!), did not wander to load up on carby milk and maybe some cereal as well.

Long night. Today just HAS to be a better day for my restraint/sloth - or whatever kept me from sabotaging my LC program. Dinner last night was a marginal affair, as I dodged carbs in a beefy slumgullion loaded with carby pasta shells and canned peas. Kept telling myself the beef was worth it, as I have not had much beef lately. Hope to get some beef into me today, as I get up and OUT - it's Wednesday, again, and that's my up-and-OUT day!

Wish me luck, as I face toting trash to the dumpster and checking mailbox, and swinging by my local Carl's for some double-patty bunless burgers! Yum!

Zer-Next time you get the urge for milk, eat a dill pickle. It also helps me with wanting sweet treats. Milk would not taste too good after a pickle..............Also, I fry up all my bacon at once, divide it in baggies and freeze them. I have one bag at a time in frig. When a hunger or weakness hits me, I just nuke a piece or two. The fat calms me down until healthy mealtime.
You did great overnight. Have a great day up and out. I KNOW it will be fine.

Laura-You look totally beautiful! I'm so glad you are back in U.S...........wishing you the best in everything because you are so deserving.

Thanks Deb and YES my siggie is right but it wasn't a whoosh...I read that they are unexplained weight losses....Mine was explainable....I gave up the soda and candy bars I thought I would die w/o! LOL!

I dont' consider myself a cat person or pet owner. I am mom to many species...the real animal being my one "skin child" 18 y/o dd!

I have 4 dogs, xx cats and 3 goats! I have had guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters and birds and wish I could afford some horses! If I ever win the lottery I am going to make this place an animal wonderland!

bjw...Thanks for the welcome! I am so sorry to hear about Elvis. I just had to take my 15 y/o Eskie to be put down...It is so sad to lose a furkid. I think because we just don't get enough time w/ them to enjoy before they get old and then you start worrying "when is that day gonna come"

Realityjunkie... Thanks it is so good to be here! Around people that understand the struggles we face. I feel like most people think "you got yourself there, get yourself out. If it was that easy none of us would have "got" here to begin with!

Michael: WOW..with that amount of exercise you have every right to BE RIGHTEOUS!!!!! I couldn't do that in 40 degree weather ...I think even thinking about it too much in this heat would give me a heat stroke! Way to go...you must be so proud!

alaskanlaughterDo you wear a pedometer?? I used to work at the Y daycare and the person w/ you job was always on the move! It might surprise to you see how far you travel in a day! I agree w/ zer that you need to find a snack... a baggie of something you can take a mouthful w/ to the copier or the next room you need to be in! I once read food is to our body like a log is to fire. Add more and it gets hotter. You running is getting it hot but eating the right things would get it even hotter and burn more! If that makes sense. I haven't been able to think about it any other way since then and I have even noticed as hot as I am obese that not long after I eat I get even hotter!

Zer: Sorry you had a rough night but GOOD for you!~ Someone is testing you and YOU ARE WINNING!!! Funny you mentioned craving milk twice. I am not even a milk drinker and have wanted a glass a few times since starting. What is a WPP Hot slosh??? Have a BLESSED outing day and enjoy those burgers.....wish we had a Carl's!

skeopple Do you put wax paper or something so they don't freeze together? How long would it last in the fridge ( not that it would be a problem, probably) being already cooked, frozen and then thawed?

HAPPY WEDNESDAY everyone....GOOD LUCK reaching all your goals and stayig OP!

Weird

I was afraid the 2 lbs yesterday were water b/c of all the sweating and the heat here. I know I FELT thirsty and definitely drank some extra.

Then I didn't eat perfectly yesterday. I didn't cheat - I just ate chicken from the cafeteria for lunch. It came breaded, and I picked it off as best I could. Then at dinner we had kebabs, and there were potatoes involved. I avoided them, but by the time they were all marinated and grilled they looked just like the mushrooms and onions. So I got I think 2 pieces of potatoes.

I know the keto stick didn't turn as dark as yesterday. I thought the generally high amount of legit carbs, and few unavoidable bad bites had done some real damage. Plus I was so tired after dinner that I went to bed instead of finishing my water for the day. But it hasn't shown up yet! I know it takes a few days, and it totally could show up tomorrow or the next day. But as long as I eat good, do some sort of exercise, and drink my water; it shouldn't be too big an impact. Should it?

I've come to the realization that I just have to do some sort of cardio everyday. Maybe going crazy and doing a mile and a half swim twice a week isn't as important as doing a mile or even a half mile everyday. I have my classes and am working on a stationary bike twice a week now too. But seriously a half mile takes LESS than 20 min - how can that actually be considered a work out? That's what the numbers (of stuff I'ev eaten, pounds I've lost, and amt of exercise) all suggest from this week so far. But it seems impossible!

Laura so glad your back and posting! You seem so much happier and ready to go than you had been in the weeks before you headed to Italy!

Hi to everyone else too!
