Laura? We're thinking about you...missing you...

Laura, hope you are thinking about us - us thinking about you - and hoping to get an update on your life. All good thoughts headed your way. Talk to us!!!

1am Friday morn and I've just opted to slurp 40gProtein in a hot slosh instead of cruising the kitchen to see What's Available. That's quite a change for any carbaholic. I'm impressed with myself, for knowing that heading to the kitchen with Evil Intent is just no part of my life today. Sure, there are eggs, but I do not think that cooking eggs was part of my agenda. I'll boil or scramble some up tomorrow. Probably do both, eating the scrambles while a slew of eggs boil for wknd snax. Got plans to push HARD for my 6/8 weigh day, hoping to be well under 399# by then. Still hovering just above 400# today - got 401# on the scale - and believe that I can do two diligent LC days (Fri/Sat) to get to Sunday's 4month scale weigh day - to see THREEdom coming true on my scale!

Cannot think when last I weighed under 400#. No idea at all. I'll have to prowl some ancient journals to see if any weights are noted. I think I was in my 30s or early 40s the last time I weighed under 400#. What a wasted life!

But that's past. What's ahead of me is a year pushing to reach 299#, right?

Okay, I'd like to see 299# by Feb.2009, but that's 8mos away and I'm not losing weight at a rate that will bring me to drop an average of 13#/mo. Maybe if I went more Meat&Egg? Maybe I could see 3#/wk on average loss? More protein, fewer carbs. Yeah. That could do the trick, that and eating up to my BMR:2423cals, no matter what! Maybe 299# by Feb.2009 is do-able.

What do you think? Can I do this? Dare I set my sights on that goal?

I miss Laura also.
Zer I certainly think your goal is doable. Have you thought of using canned chicken to up your protein? It makes good chicken salad and would still be low carb friendly.
Air conditioner is on the fritz and it is supposed to get to 100 degrees today. The repairman called at 6:30 am to say he was on his way..HOORAY. I was already up and rushing to get my chores out of the way before it got too hot in here to do more than sit under the fan. He said he had moved me to first on his list.
hagd!

bjw-Do you get humidity with your heat out there? We can't seem to warm above 70 this spring, but it's been muggy. Thunderstorms last night. No damage here but across the rivers in MN they had big hail again and fast flooding.

zer-I'm right there with you, Sweety! Praying for your scale to say 399 or less. I think 299 by February 2009 is a doable thing, as long as it doesn't influence any negativity. I'm am good at figuring out averages and goals and then if I don't get there, I'm bumbed. It's different now though. I'm setting goals, trying my darndest, and if I don't make it; I resolve that I'm still losing and not GAINING! God's timing is perfect. I'm older and wiser now?! ;-)

I WAS to do a 5th wedding aniversary cake for a party tomorrow. (We are making all of their food). haha Older and Wiser: I ordered the cake!!!!! I know I can pass the rest of the menu because we are also making lowcarb substitutes but it would have been disaster to buy all of the ingredients that we've purged from my kitchen, as well as 'having' to taste test frosting!

The menu is:
BBQ pulled pork
home made buns
potato salad
cole slaw
baked beans
pickles
nuts
cake

Everything is from scratch and my mom offered to do the cooking if I bought the ingredients. I'll only have to do the pork plus our substitutes.

The celebration is for our son and his wife (parents of the two toddlers in my avatar.) This year, he is NOT in Iraq so we are blessed to have this opportunity!!!!!!!

Make it a Great Day!

Thanks for reminding me. I've got some canned chicken that I forget to consider as a great option when I'm tossing a salad together. With a tangy mustard, this could be a really tasty salad. I've got a roquefort mustard that I imagine will do nicely, also a rough mustard that might be nice in a mayo mix. Got to dump some stuff in my fridge space, so that I've got more room for fast LC food snax. Since I am spending less time in that area, I've been neglecting my fish oil and flaxmeal and other stuff that is refrigerated and that I used to take daily at mealtime. Got to get that rhythm back into my normal day of LC eating, although it is sure easier for me to avoid temptation if I avoid the area entirely. Somehow I can still slip up if I come across illicit food for the taking.

Yes, I know how it can be, to set a goal and then lose sight of it, so I've set 10# goals and a visual that helps me to REMEMBER how much I want to lose weight, to gain a more-active life as I take pressure off this hinky hip that has kept me in bed for nearly 2yrs now. Surely I will find it easier to get around with less weight! I hope to move my marker soon, down under 399#, to my next goal of 390#. Maybe Sunday!

I missed World Environment Day!

Take the Pledge to Wash in Cold Water and Get a Free Book
Get out of how water and get a copy of Naturally Clean from Seventh Generation

No Image

By Collin Dunn
Corvallis, OR, USA | Thu Jun 05 16:33:00 EDT 2008

Pressing the "cold/cold" button on your washing machine is a great way to save energy, money, and carbon emissions, but it can also get you a free book! To help celebrate World Environment Day (yep, that's today, June 5), the good people at Seventh Generation have invited everyone to take the pledge to Get Out of Hot Water. Here's how it works: sign up to make the switch to washing your clothes in cold water, and Seventh Generation will reward you with a copy of CEO Jeffery Hollender's book, Naturally Clean: The Seventh Generation Guide to Safe and Healthy, Non-Toxic Cleaning. It's that simple: take the pledge, get a book.

As Jasmin mentioned before, about 90 percent of the energy used for washing clothes goes to heating the water, and so switching to cold water can save you upwards of $100 a year in reduced energy costs. And, the book help explain why you should eliminate synthetic chemicals from your home, and delves into why labels and laws fail to protect consumers from household toxins. You'll also learn how to handle cleaning challenges in every room in the house without synthetic chemicals. Get more info on the book in our review of the book, and take the pledge at the Get Out of Hot Water site.

Hi everyone!
I'm back from Italy and officially legally separated. It was a very sad event and very painful. I don't know what to think or say about it. Please keep me in your prayers as my healing process goes on.

When I got on the scale this morning, it said I weigh 290 so that is my new starting point. My goal is still the same as ever: to do whatever I can to lose the next 10 pounds (and hopefully have that happen within a month). My goal for July 1st is to weigh 280 (or less).

I am back to job hunting and hoping I will find something soon. I am even considering part time jobs-just something to get money flowing in.

I had alot of compliments about my weight loss and the things I have done to improve myself. That was nice. I hope to post a new avitar with a pic of me from last Tuesday as I walked along the sea.

I missed all of you very much and hope to be more active on the board in the coming weeks as I reshape my life, my eating and (hopefully) my body. Congrats to everyone doing so well-getting on track, staying on track, shedding more weight, hitting new goals, etc. and supportive hugs to those struggling. You folks are simply the best and I love each of you SO much. **hugs** Thanks for the support and love each of you gives. I wouldn't be doing near as well as I am if I didn't have you all to turn to.

Here's to a great June and the second half of 2008 being a time where we just keep getting better and better!

--Laura

WELCOME HOME, LAURA!:

Such a bittersweet trip, but we are happy to have you back home. It sounds like you are going to be alright, with some time to heal and move on. Best wishes on your job hunt. Give it to God; his timing is perfect.

Welcome back Laura! Now is time to take care of you and get started on the rest of your life. Try to cherish the happy memories you have and try to let the not so happy ones go. Maybe you'll look on your time in Italy fondly after time heals some of the wounds. I can't wait to see your next pic!

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to pop in and say I am going to be off site for about a week.
Will also be off plan for a week as well.
I had to put my car in the shop this week and now I am broke! (radiator $200 ).
So I have only about $40 to buy food for me and my daughter and nothing is on sale around here this week. So, I am going to have to go off plan for a week, until I get paid. I hate it but I will be right back on next week, after a trip to the grocery store.
I am going to try to eat as LOW carb as possible with the choices I have this week. But, you know how it goes, cheap food is usually high carby stuff. We may end up on beans & rice if groceries keep going up!
Eating my last oopsie roll w/ ham and cheese for breakfast this morning!
Love those rolls!

Zer, I hope you drop to 3dom while I am away. I will be chasing close behind you as soon as I can get some low carb staples back in my house.

Good lowcarbin to everyone, see back next week.

Hi-
Thanks for the warm welcome and the encouragement. I'm doing ok. Sad but praying alot and looking forward.

Seems lots of folks are doing well and hitting milestones! WTG Kim and Zer and other folks! Glad to see Cris is back on track and Deb is too. Bjw, Skeopple, Alaskan, & June-KUTGW and the weight will come off.

Dixichic-sorry about the car problem and the food issue. Do your best and know we support you and we're here when you can come back and join us. Hang in there! I ate offplan while I was in the airplanes and in Italy so I understand-do what you need to get by. *hug* Actually, had several low blood sugars in Italy so my body was really all messed up from the stress, sadness and travel. Just refocus when you can like I am.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. We're roasting near 100F here today and tomorrow. I think it is time for salads and firing up the grill rather than heating up the house with the oven/stove!

Hey, come back soon! I blew my plan Friday as I saw and smelled fresh strawberries for dinner - and lost my mind. Details posted in FitDay segment of my BLOG: foods, portions, etc.

Thats a great idea Deb but most things have doubled in price, I know the eggs sure have. Angel food ministries is a great place, I have a friend that orders there and I am soon to do the same. Just the meats tho, she is going to order it for me since she doesn't do low carb and will get the first $30 of everything. I will only get the meat. I think its the best bargain around.

Hang in there Dix we have all been there and will soon be going there again. This economy stinks and we all are having to pinch pennies. If the price of gas continues to rise I shudder to think how high groceries r going to be.

Zer, I seem to lose my mind at least once a week. That is the reason I am up and down on the scale Just hang in there, its going to go bk down and soon you will be below 399

AngelFood Ministries...a good deal...but pretty carby for us.

Glad you are able to split an AngelFood Ministries order, JB, to get the meaty part of what I recall as being a carby box of assorted foodstuffs.

Years ago, when I qualified for food stamps, I recall facing the fact that I could not afford to buy food stamps at half face value. That was the offer back then. Had I been able to come up with $45 cash, I could buy $90 worth of scrip to use for groceries. Just did not have $45 left after I'd paid the pittance I owed in rent and the extravagance charged by the utility company. So it goes.

Our own frootbat Koko...gone but never forgotten!

Ah...few kitties have been so loved as this celebrated kitty. What a darling. So sorry we have lost this cuddly creature. I see him now, a stronger kitty, frisking and frolicking with my own kitties in that field of catnip and butterflies who fly low enough to tempt a kitty to leap high to bat at the colorful flutterbys who play with them. I love that image, of kitties once again strong and vibrant and energetic. I hope someday to find myself crossing over and seeing my kitties lined up, waiting for a cuddle with me.

Sorry to hear about your hard time dixie. I know how that is. I had transmissions problems soon after I lost my job. Sometimes it seems like when it rains, it pours.
