Doctor visit

I have been having a lot of dizzy spells and my blood pressure was running low for me... so I called my doctor and she had me stop the beta blocker and cut the water pill in half. I've done that for a week and a half and kept track of my pressure every day. This morning I had an appointment with the doctor and she decided that this new lower dosage will be safe for me to continue. So, with my weight loss I've cut my blood pressure meds by 75%. She said that maybe after while my pressures will drop again and I can totally come off the medicine. It was a really good visit. I remember when I used to dread going to the doctor!

amm-That is wonderful that you got to lower your dosage!!
I'm hoping someday...............soon..............Last week when I saw doctor, the MA took my blood pressure as soon as I sat down. Dah! Surely, she saw the difficulty I had walking down the hallways to get to the room.

Zer-I will be celebrating when you hit 399# but don't weigh until the 8th! I'm happier by not weighing every day because our bodies do ebb and flow. Hoping for some poundage down Monday the 9th too. Monday is my weighing day from now on.
I like the idea of getting help from people through a pastor and also getting the 'eye candy' guy. cute.

Make it a Great Day....

Reporting on a successful venture today. Got up and OUT!

10am Wed: Just back from a trip to haul trash out to the car (still in the trunk, for a later trip to the dumpster) and to collect mail at the p'office - and to collect a LC cheeseburger at Carl's. Found out my local Carl's discontinued the Breakfast Bowl that Cleochatra so recently extolled in her LC column. The local Carl's mgr told me it was "full of fat" and did not sell, so they discontinued. This Carl's peddles Mexican food on the side, loaded with fat as well as carbs. Go figure!

Maybe I can locate another Carl's, so I can try out the Breakfast Bowl.

Anyway, what I did this morning was to not engage in dialogue about how scared I am of falling, etc. I just got up, got OUT by 8:15am, did what I had to do, and got myself back home, where I am safely ensconced in my bed writing to you about my small success today.

Actually I can celebrate several successes, because I did not pick up any carby stuff as a 'reward' for being brave and going out. I got a container of cottage cheese that I thought might go well with the bunless burger, but the burger was enough. I was not as hungry as I thought. *burp* I'll have the cottage cheese with tuna and maybe an egg or two for lunch. Got to get my BMR:2423cals!

Thanks for the support and encouragement. Y'all make life more bearable!

Anyone else cuckoo for cabbage or 'kraut, as I am?

Saw this intriguing recipe idea on another thread and just have to try it:

Wonder if adding olive oil or VCO (or baconfat?) would bring up the fat quotient. And I'd put in some caraway seeds to plump up in the 'kraut juice. Oh, I do love caraway seeds! Yum!

What do you think of this for an alternative tunafish recipe?

Hug a Cat...They Know They Deserve It!

June 4 is national Hug Your Cat Day. Although some cats do not like hugs and prefer toys or petting instead, all animals need love. If you don't have or know a cat, you can visit your local animal shelter or pet store and pay a cat a visit today. The cat will appreciate it.

I'm game to try the tuna/kraut. I like tuna but tire of it quickly. I'll let ya know how that goes.

Zer-BIG accomplishment. Yay for you! Also, I bet your outting used up some energy ie calories = ounces. You're bound for a loss on Sunday's scale. I'm betting on 3dom.

Our attitudes do rule our day. I'm told that when we get out of bed in the morning, we can set the mood for the whole day; if we wake up ornery, we can change it. Force a smile cuz if you do it long enough, it turns real.....so I'm told. I continue to be a slow waker-upper. Trying to wake up more enthused

well i keep going down, i was 203 yesterday and 202 today, so thats good

ive also been walking my TAIL off at work lately gearing up for summer and today our program started....this boss is trying to do a whole new summer CONCEPT, which is nothing like anything the kids or staff are used to and she's not even there to make sure it runs smoothly...i like her ideas and all, it just may not be feasible with 70-100 kids on site daily...and she's sharing the management with another boss, neither of which are around much or seem to be on teh same page...AARGH!

so i've worked my little tail off today, walking up n down the halls because the radios she bought don't work worth anything...we already had a child fall backwards off teh swings and hit his head/back, then came in with what looked like concussion symptoms and soon afterward puke ALL over teh floor of room that was supposed to be being used for a large group....its been one thing after another and im only halfway through my day

PLUS every relative under teh sun arrives tonight for the big tlingit and haida Celebration event and some are staying with us....we also have an "orphan" nephew, who is 15 and flew in yesterday, except no one told us he was arriving, he had no money, didnt know where we lived, and no one gave him our phone number...LOL luckily he found someone who knew how to reach us

back to work i go...i better be burning some xtra calories today

No, she isn't against lowcarb... her thing is that lowcarb eating is hard for some people to maintain because they have to cut out sugar.

Her deal was that she didn't think that I'd be able to lose as much weight as I've lost... and as I plan to lose.

Had a nice surprise today...

Found my own Wiki article as I googled on "Bob Earll", a name that came up as I wrote at LCFriends about a charismatic speaker in response to a writer who expressed her self-doubts today:
Quote:
WHY can't I give myself credit?
WHY is nothing I do good enough?
I am proof that what your parents tell you
stays with you forever.
Beg to differ. What we tell ourself is what cripples us, not what we were told by parents or others who failed to appreciate our value. It's our self-talk that breaks our spirit, blinds us to our True Worth, cripples us. So, what can we do to purge our self-talk of hateful and belittling words? AFFIRMATIONS!

Yes, get busy writing affirmations or find some affirmations that ring true.

You are the leading lady of your life.
Start acting like that. (Me, too, I think.)
Script yourself some self-talk of praise.

Script some language to STOP abusive self-talk, when it pops up. Do audible affirmations, as hearing the positives is more powerful than just thinking nice things. Speak the words you yearn to hear ALOUD, so your ears hear nice things said to you. It apparently does not matter if the voice is our own.

A charismatic speaker spoke of negative self-talk that starts for him before he even opens his eyes. He said his way of stopping that awful hateful talk is to ask WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR INFORMATION? (Thanks, Bob Earll, for planting this seed of whacky wisdom in what passes for my mind.)

According to Bob, his Evil Inner Voice goes mute at that question. No reply.

Bob Earll writes books and does tapes as part of his Recovery from various addictions and bizarre behaviors from a weird childhood. For me, meeting a charismatic speaker like Bob Earll and hearing my own childhood horrors from his lips - as part of his own horrific and disremembered childhood - was more amazing than I can express.

Google on Bob Earll for more wonderful stuff than you can shake a stick at, if you sometimes doubt your value as a human being. You are NOT alone!!!

OMG...when I googled on "Bob Earll" the first item that came up is the bit that I wrote for Wikipedia...I had no idea it was still extant, as a teen-editor challenged it as being specious or some such adolescent approach to a name that the young man had not heard and doubted the importance of. Sigh. I gave up and just thought the article was defunct. Seems not so. There is even an archive of my appeal and...well, it's a surprise to me that it's all available for anyone who googles on "Bob Earll". Maybe I did some good. Had no idea that what I wrote back in 2006 - two years ago - still existed.

See? We do not know how our actions are received.

Yesterday I could barely get out of bed, could not leave the house. Today I got up and OUT and scrambled back fast to report my success. And today I googled and saw my words at Wikipedia, in some interim article offered for consideration. Today's discovery that my Wiki article on Bob is in some way available to anyone who googles on his name is knocking me out!

I just added that info to my BLOG, so that I can see what I've done - and what may outlive me - when I am feeling as if I have no impact, am worthless. I thought that some adolescent's challenge wiped out my article. Apparently it still exists in some form, if only as an article aborning/adying/awaiting polishing by someone who has time to navigate Wiki's convoluted editorial process.

Quite a flip from my doldrums yesterday. Life is like that. Ups. Downs.

Zer, I totally agree!!! Even tho our parents begin the cycle, we can stop it in its tracks. Its a lot of work, but we begin by putting pen to paper(or cmptr) and listing 10 of our good qualities. Post them near and read them often. You are a swell lady and I love reading your posts

Taking my own advice? Oh, yeah...might work for me too!

Thanks, JuneBug! And as usual, what I write turns out to be good advice for me, which comes to mind as I read my advice and think MAYBE I CAN DO THIS - and other stuff that would not come to mind had I not been inspired to dig for advice to a LCFriend. It's all good. The reading, the writing - the reading what I write and thinking DUH! as I realize I might try this in my own wretched life!

Up and slurping at 6am, getting my WPP and VCO into me for a good start and 40gProtein - in hopes it will get me moving, to do a few of the things I've been procrastinating on. Might weigh today. Might not. I expect weight is bOunCing a bit and it might benefit me to wait for 6/8 (4months of owning a scale) to get aboard and watch the numbers flicker and flee before settling on a final weight.

Nothing to report about yesterday except I ate way to little. I had no appetite I guess due to the heat. I overdid working around here too and was exhausted.
I am eating chicken salad as I write this made with mayo dill pickle and 1 grilled chicken breast. All the food I cooked Sunday is now gone. Hooray!!!
I plan on grilling hamburgers for supper.

Good morning all,

Hope today finds everyone doing their best LC dance!
I am still chugging along. I have been tracking my intake on fitday. That has helped me to ensure that I am staying on target.
I have had troubles staying above 2000 cals but am pushing it. I am loving my peanut butter shakes in the am. So thick and creamy! Yummy!
I am almost out of everything though. In fact, I AM out of peanut butter, so tomorrow breakfast will NOT be a pb shake!

With the price of gas, utilities and food, I may be sucking on rocks this pay period! Groceries just keep going up, but of course, you all know that!
I am going to scower the markets for some specials that will help me stretch the budget.
I will buy leg quarters for roasting, tuna, and.................??? No idea!

I have not weighed in a few days now. I am feeling more confident about my plan. I am checking ketones but not getting on scale. I will weigh in again on 7/1 and see if I have made any progress! Have not had a chance to get to the DR. yet, but that is on the list.

Well, I am off to enter breakfast into fitday and plan the rest of my day.

toodles!

I'm here I swear

I had a crazy Mon & Tues at work. I had to catch up 2 weeks worth of cases in 2 days. I had lost some computer files. It took me 2 days of staying late, and then still bringing some home w/ me. Now I'm scrambling to actually get a few out of here for this week, so I won't be scrambling to catch up all over again.

Officially I had called breaking out of the 300s, and I worked ALL last week to put in another loss so that it would never register that way again. Even w/ the later in the day fluctuations. It’s still dangerously close to 300, and while there it’s been steady at either 298 or 299 everyday – that’s just the first thing in the morning weight. But the weekend didn't go the way I planned it.

Didn’t have time to get the Friday swim in I wanted to, we weren’t allowed to BBQ the steaks I brought in the inner harbor (apparently the water actually IS flammable), and my sister ended up provisioning the stuff for mixed drinks and got sugar loaded “light” juices. No gain, but no loss from everything I did all last week ever showed up. So my weight AGAIN has been pegged in the same spot for over a week. I wouldn’t mind irregular loss if they were whooses of 4 pounds or something! But this one or 2 pounds every other week is just getting FRUSTRATING.

B/c of the steaks I ended up eating a hot dog (w/ the bun) at the game, and b/c of the juices I ended up drinking the beer. It was great at the time, and I had been looking forward to seeing some people I hadn't seen in a while, and probably won't see again for another while.

I still have no car, apparently won’t until the end of the summer, and THEN I’ll have to take on a car loan again. Which means getting to go grocery shopping and to the gym is going to be a little complicated for the time being. I got offered to be hired by my gym (the Y) to substitute teach a class sometimes. The money would help a LOT w/ the car loan, since my vacation fund will now be going there, and the vacation still has to be paid for somehow. And it will mean my gym membership is free, eliminating that expense. But there are still some things to get worked out.

I’m not a certified anything, and they need to approve me. They have to approve SOMEONE since they’re so short staffed. I’m a little surprised they even asked me to teach any exercise related class. I certainly don’t LOOK like I know what I’m talking about!!

Also I need to make sure I can take the bus there at all the weird hours I might have to be teaching, and that they don’t ever need me in the middle of the day – b/c I have no intention of leaving my REAL job.

Welcome back Doing. Congrats on being below 300!! I know exactly how you feel about being below 300 and not wanting to ever see that number again. Good luck, you can do it. Don''t let the 2 lb losses get to you like I have done in the past. Now that I am trying to relose what I have regained because the 2 lb losses drove me nuts and I would go off plan I now say"that the 2 lbs loss is better than the 8 lb gain." That is what happens everytime I go off plan. Good luck with the car situation.

Oprah gets mind-boggling contract to write diet/exercise book

Oprah has a diet blog? And it's about saving animal lives? It's a vegan cleansing plan, far as I can tell, a 21-day detox. Anyone tracking this at Oprah's blog (at her website)?

Although not a fan of Oprah's, I am fascinated by the phenomenon of a woman who persistently misspells a name she says is meant to be the biblical Orpah. So I read articles like this one and visit sites like this to see if I can better understand who Oprah is. I'm still mystified. What is the lifetime nondisclosure agreement (50pp) about, the one all of her employees sign and that apparently gags former employees from telling what they know? On her demise, will there be a rush to tell all? Or is the disclosure worded to curb - or squelch - all disclosures for the lifetime of the person who signs such a document? I wonder.
