hi all, i am busy with the usual weekend chores....i've been doing laundry, went to the store and ran the older kids around a few places....i want to go out to the end of the island across the channel later to gather some large rocks to line my house plant border with outside....might take my pregnant bedrest friend with me so she can get a ride and get out of the house....husband is cleaning up the floors and vaccuuming, sprinkled some carpet powder that just notched up my allergies about 500 percent LOL but its worth it

back i go to folding laundry...if i can find a photo of where i'm going later to collect rocks i will post it...its beautiful out there but watch out for kushtakas, shapeshifting land otters who like to steal souls, sort of like those missionary people who knock on your door and try to convert you hee hee and no offense to anyone

Good evening to all,
Busy busy day today ...Only ate lunch..left over steak and dinner ,steak kabobs with grilled peppers, onions pineapple chunks (just 3) and grape tomatoes.
To hot here today to be hungry. I made 48 yeast rolls and a pan of rice krispie treats tonight as Father's Day gifts for tomorrow. Money is an issue plus what else can you give 70plus fathers that they would enjoy more than homemade treats.
Zer, please don't let that bouncing scale get you down...you are probably losing inches. Is your steering wheel further from your belly? I use that as a measure of success. My Blazer steering wheel is not rubbing my stomach nearly as bad now after only 1 month.
Have a good Father's Day all!
Jean

did you all know this about Olive Oil???

, olive oil may help prevent and treat several other conditions. In animal studies, oral doses of olive oil have been associated with reduced blood sugar levels in animals with diabetes. Although not all the reasons for this potential effect are understood, olive is known to increase the body's production of a chemical known as glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP 1). Because it lengthens the amount of time that contents stay in the stomach, GLP 1 may make individuals feel full longer. In addition, nutrients from foods are absorbed over a longer period, decreasing the chances of large variations in blood sugar levels. In case studies, individuals with diabetes who follow a Mediterranean diet also appear to have less chance of developing complications such as kidney problems and nerve damage from diabetes. The fatty acids and other chemicals in olive oil may interfere with the formation of chemicals that promote inflammation within the body. This anti-inflammatory effect, along with olive oil's possible antioxidant and immune-enhancing properties may help prevent and relieve inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. In another area of research, taking olive oil regularly may help to prevent migraine headaches. One small study reported that teens who had migraines and who took supplemental olive oil every day for 2 months lessened the chance of having a headache and also decreased the length and severity of migraines that did occur. Exactly how olive oil may produce these effects is not understood completely, and further study is needed to confirm results.

The fatty acids and other substances in olive oil may also interfere with the formation of chemicals that promote inflammation within the body. This anti-inflammatory effect, along with olive oil's possible antioxidant and immune-enhancing properties may help prevent and relieve inflammatory conditions such as arthritis

well I was disappointed..after sweating in the heat yesterday i didnt drop a pound..probably not enough water and i didnt eat enough calories, i purposely went hungry thinking I would lose better with the exercise..but..my body showed me who was boss LOL..so today its eat what I want on LC and lots of water...will see what tomorrow brings..

MyCatz, I have lost most of it since my start date..but about 3-5 pounds was lost in the week prior when i eliminated soda..pepsi..its so good but so bad for you..goes to show you though that age<54> and doing this several times that you can still lose if you find out what stalls you...learn your limits...and watch the advice of those online who are successful...

not sure what I have written...but got a keyboard from the ex for my birthday, have been having fun with it...keeps me from boredom, and daughter took me to have my nails all done...red..my fav color on my nails...and some books..since I am a prolific reader. so overall its been a nice time...

Tried the new CO from walmart, I find I prefer the Nutiva for taste but it is 3 dollars cheaper..

have a great LC day.
Vicki

after mindlessly eating more pepperoni this morning than i EVER should be eating...i think my goal for june is going to be focusing on only eating when i'm hungry and no other triggers, such as it sitting RIGHT in front of me my baby,2, loves pepperoni and i was pulling little clumps out of the package for him this morning and just kept right on popping them in my mouth too..i LOVEEEEEE pepperoni bad BAD pepperoni lol

so anyhow i try to change it up every month so i don't get too bored or frustrated...i did LC only in april, i did calorie counting in may with LC choices but not all LC, and now i want to do calorie counting with mostly LC choices and focus more on how i eat this month....i have LC lunches ready to go to work this week for me, because this last week and a half has KILLED me on the routine, which is vital to how i eat....i've also noticed a dramatic loss of appetite the last few days, dunno why, but it might help me to use that to focus on how and why i eat and maybe drop a few more pounds

the scale hovered right at 202-203 all last week even though i was having a hard time staying on plan and on friday (my official weigh in weekly) it jumped to 204, closer to 205 so now i keep on trying to stay on my various plans and hope the scale keeps going down to that magic goal of 198

I'm down another pound and a half. I was a little low on the water yesterday. Not enough that I think it's dehydration, but I can feel how dry my skin is and how thirsty I am. So if that bounces back up tommorow morning w/ the all the water I'm sucking down today, I won't claim it for this week for Cleo's mid year challenge.

I would just have to spend part of next week getting it off again. Then I wouldn't have much time left for posting any new pounds down next week. I'm already down 3 for the week not counting this pound and a half.

I'll let you guys know tomorrow though what the scale says! I am soooo happy that the scale has started moving steadily again. I totally thrive on the motivation of it. It's been over a week since I haven't exercised everday. And my weekly "cheat" (not planned, but the usual amt of time it takes for me to give in to something at a dinner out) was eating spinich dip w/ a fork - no tortillas; and ONE light beer! That is progress for me! Doesn't wreck me too bad since it's just once a week or so at dinner out on the weekend, and it's never the whole meal. Just a drink w/ dinner or the tortilla chips. But this week was better!

Ms. Trudy,..its not a specific amount, if i am hungry I will take more on some days but on an average its about 2 Tablespoons a day for now. I also add it into my caloric intake on fitday.

well I fixed baked chicken for supper, some mayo on it..with parmesan cheese and a slice of onion..was pretty good and very moist. I fixed a cushaw, just to see how it was...and made it like a pumpkin pie taste, some splenda, punkin pie spice and butter and a touch of heavy cream..but going to throw it out, it was ok...but something - either the raw cabbage from lunch or the cushaw really aggravated my chrons and I ended up taking 2 pain pills to stop the cramping...UGH..not fun!!

Trying to come up with something different for tomorrow..I am so craving CHicken salad but dont want to eat it without pork rinds and they make me stall...i wonder if different brands would make a difference??? Anyone find one that doesnt stall you if other brands do??? Just curious..i so miss my pork rinds and chicken salad.

boy today flew by..

where is zer today?

i think i kept my calories lower than normal today by only eating when i was hungry....i had several slips of simply eating without thinking or because it was there or because i was expected to....but i really tried to focus on if i was hungry

and so i didnt keep a running list of foods i ate or calories consumed and only went back just now to add it all up....if i did it right, i came in well under my calories for the day and if i forgot something LOL oh well oopsies

my older son goes back north to visit his dad for the summer, and possibly the school year but i dont want to upset my son so i try to be positive about all the fun things he gets to do with his dad

and in his place we've inherited a teenage girl hubby's older brother from the little native village, his 14 year old daughter is having a hard time there and wants to come here to the city for the summer, which is fine with us, she's a good girl but has gone through a difficult time lately there

Hanging in there. Using canned fish, onion, mayo for afternoon-evening meals, with a few boiled eggs on the side. Makes a filling series of small meals as the day progresses. I fix the food midday or so, then carry it back to my bed so I can nosh on it over a few hours' time instead of eating too much at once. I'm finding this a pretty good solution to my difficulty managing how to eat less food more often, rather than trying to eat a single meal at one sitting. Hope it impacts my weight. Feeling so heavy in the heat. Well, heavy all the time, but worse when it's hot and I am resenting each painful step as I refill water bottles and know that I shall be forced to get up and find my way to the loo. Tempted to cut back on water, just to save steps, but I know that water helps me - so I am pushing to reach my 128oz daily quota. Using stevita fruit flavor in the water makes that task a truly tasty one. I'm ordering more of that stuff!!!

It stuck!!

I know that reporting my weight is really for Cleo's challenge. But I was SOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW for SOOOOO LOOONG that I'm excited for the losses to be picking up again.

I've been doing several things differently, so I'm not sure what to attribute it to. I've been having the egg creams for breakfast where I used to have just coffee. I've been doing SOMETHING cardio everyday - where before it was just 4 days a week or so. I'm also having a snack after work before that cardio, and sometimes even dessert after dinner. Not that my dinner or lunch is any smaller, but I think eating more often and cardio everyday is helping. Also getting more veggies I think.

I also wonder if it WAS one of the vitamins I WAS taking. I stopped b/c I had so many, and when I went sailing didn't want to pack a zillion little bottles. Then I was gone all weekend, and didn't count out and pack a baggie full of the ones I would need the following week at work. So I've basically been off of them since then. I noticed around the time I started taking them (early April) that was whem my losses slowed WAY down.

I'm sure it's only one of them causing the problem, and I'm sure it's the combination of everything that caused the current losses. But I really wish I could figure it out AND keep chugging away w/ the losses.

goodmorning everyone... the last two night have been horible trying to sleep... doing alot of tossing and turning.... legs and back hurting alot.... I did take a nap yesterday and slept a few hours.... but had to do it, the night before I didn't sleep much at all....

I feel very worn out... can't hardly keep my eyes open... but tired of laying down..... I might go and see if I can sleep in the chair for a while........

I know the whole purpose of my diet right now is not to lose weight, but to shrink the liver before surgery... I am eating my low carb, low calorie, high protein, low fat diet and barely losing a thing..... I keep getting up expecting a big whoosh, but instead find a very little lost.... this morning after days, I finally lost another .6 lbs....

but on the bright side of things...I can tell in my cloths that i AM losing inches....

i am eating alot of fish, chicken, turkey and eggs and staying full...
One of the things that I am going to be working on is not drinking 30 miuntes before my meals and not during and waiting 30 minutes before I drink anything.... they say you stay fuller longer by not drinking fluids with your meals.... so today I am going to work on that....

will be back later

Do you still know me?

Gosh, it's been a long long time.

IU just wanted to pop in and say hello because I am re-dedicating myself to eating better again. I have gained more weight in regnancy and after than I would care to share about. However, I am now ready to give weight loss another try (never give up).

I don't know yet what program I will follow yet because it has everything to do with breastfeeding my 3 mos. old. I am planning to do lower carb, but still take more vegetable carbs as to not go into ketosis. If I do have to eat carbs to manintain milk - I will have some whole grains at breakfast.

At home things are so crazy. My mother was admitted into the hospital yesterday after a 2 month illness. They don't know what's wrong with her - but this weekend she became increasingly confused and not making sense. It looks like she's had a stroke, but she doesn't have any stroke symptoms other than a lot of confusion.

Sascha Lily 3 mos. is totally gorgeous. She's turned into a little Bhudda-Baby and she's very chubby and cute. Her sister Madeline now 2.5 years old was also very chubby as an infant - but it melted right off her once she started to walk. Sascha Lily is cooing and smiling and the best baby ever. We had a rough start with some illness with her -but then we completely tok her off formula and it was like a miracle. All her ills went away once we took her off milk protein. It's difficult for me because I don't have a lot of milk and I must pump all day long to satisfy her as well as take some prescription drugs to increase milk production - but it's totally worth the trouble having a happy and healthy baby.

Madeline knows her numbers up to 15 and her alphabet too. She is totally gorgeous and funny but a bit shy in public. At home she's a little chatterbox though and is developing a large sense of humour.

Richard my husband is in the middle of doing his report cards and is working late last week and likely this week too. I am so overwhelmed at home right now - just busy. When I'm not making milk for the baby I am cleaning up, looking after my Mom and my 2yr old just never stops unless she's sleeping.

I have not found the time to continue my swimming work outs and I am missing them dearly. If I could find a way with 2 kids to do them I would, but I just haven't figured that out yet. I really do miss them and I am hoping in September once the child-minding sessions at my local Rec. Centre come back (they close for the summer) that I will try to organize an hour to myself to get them back.

In the meantime - it's eggs for breakfast and maybe some spinach too. I will see what happens for lunch - likely some lumch meat and some vege's. I think the challenge for me with low-carb this time is finding the time to cook things. As well, we are living on 1 income (and a teacher's salary no less) so our budjet is stretched to bursting and meat in Canada is so expensive.

Oh well, onward and forward for me and hopefully for all of you too.

It's nice to see some of my old pals still posting and by-the-way LAURA...you look so fantastic!

Nice to see Cris and Tanika still posting too.

Love to all.

Susan

Thanks for the compliment. *blush*
