UMMRASHID

don't get discouraged.....if there is any such thing as a good cheat, peanuts are that! Although you caught your trigger food and "nipped it in the bud." Good for you!!
Starting clean will be easy for you...you seem so devoted!

I have been trying to eat VERY, VERY clean. I have done quite well except I am getting a bit bored.I need to look at the recipe board and get a bit creative. Although no fuss, no muss is definitely my M.O.

I know this is TMI, but I have been expecting TOM any day. I have been spotting for the last 3 days.....wierd....I know it is coming, but I don't usually experience this. I am also quite bloated, but my weight is holding strong at 268.5. I am excited to see what the scale brings next weekend after aunt flo is gone. Should I expect a big whooshie? Or do I have my hopes too high?

Jennifer

Hey Jennifer,
Thanks for the encouragment, today is day two of my clean eating and although I keep hearing a voice that says I NEED something sweet I am totaly trying to fight it.
TOM can get a little wacky at first, I know it has for me as our bodies adjust to all the changes.
MAybe we can share what were eating for ideas,
Yesterday for:
B- I had an egg cream, with 1/2 an atkins shake, 2 raw eggs, coconut oil and ice
L- grilled chicken and the other 1/2 of the shake
D- I chopped up cabbage and stir fried it with chicken breast and a few dashes of soy sauce.
Today so far
B- plain atkins strawberry shake
L- chopped chicken breast( grilled..I am loving my george foreman grill) with one cucumber chopped up and 1/2 TBSP of heinz one carb ketchup
D- I will be making a stir fry with beef, brocolii, stir fried in sesame oil chinese style with ginger and garlic.
trying to fight the sweet demon. Its hard but I know its going to be worth it. I am expecting TOM the end of this week as well. I did get a nice whoosh after, I hope you do as well, it wasnt all in one day but is way a pound a day over 4 days, that was nice to be down a pound each day. I Am up 2 pounds from my stats now but I refuse to change it back, I am working on getting it back there and lower.

My Diet??

ummrashid: I am not sure you really want to know!!!!

First of all, before I tell you what I have been eating, let me explain that I have been working the last 4 days- 12hr night shifts (7p-7a) so I haven't been very imaginative...............WARNING...........

Sunday
B(5pm) sugar free orange jello with 0 carb whipped topping.-2tbs & 30oz H2O
L(midnight) 1/4 rottiserie chicken & 30oz H20
D(0400am) 1/4 rottiserie chicken & 30 oz H20

lots of coffee!! (which I only drink at work-3rd shift, you know!)

Boring, I know!
FYI- I do get in my veggies during the week!

Chamie - I've worked a few night shifts and I know it's pretty much what you bring with you... and it seems like you have access to a fridge! I don't. I might if I asked nicely but I'm afraid the ER staff would eat it anyways and then I'd cranky hungry! I ended up taking a veggie tray, jerkey and an oz of nuts. Sucks for a 12 hour shift but your only other option is delivery carbs or vending machine carbs.

Ummrashid - glad you're back on track. I put foods on the No No list when they mess me up too. That's one of the reasons I don't drink soda of any sort. It seems like you start with one a day, then you have a second, then you have a third, then you're out to eat so why not... and soon you're drinking 6+ a day instead of water. I've found that an oz of nuts is a very small amount (23 almonds, small) so when I do eat nuts I portion it out into snack baggies and when it's gone it's gone. Now I'm just to the point where if I need to put something in my mouth, it's a nut. I just munch on the one while I'm doing something else (usually cooking) and then I'm done with it.

From talking with my Mom too much fiber will slow weight loss as well.

For me, making sure I get a lot of veggies each day is helping out tremendously. I'm on week two of it and I need new workout pants. I spent my workout today pulling them back up (would have been embarassing since I was sans drawls... hahahahahahaha!)

I eat a lot of salad, spinach, green beans, cauliflower and cabbage. I'll add more as I dig deeper into the grocers freezer.

That's my thoughts!

Afternoon all!!

How is everyone?

Good here! My TOM is really messed up, though! Wierd! Maybe things will straighten out when my body gets used to losing weight. I wish it would just start, though. I have been spotting since Friday.......sorry TMI!

Good news.........no whppshie, but the scale is still moving. Down to 265. I am so happy. I can't wait to see the scale after all this bloating is over.

Jennifer, I spot 20 days of the month on LC. Never heavy, but it's there. I've heard it's because estrogen is stored in your fat cells and as you lose weight it is released and messes up your cycle. I'll take it if the fat goes with it...lol.

Hi Everyone! Mind if I join?

I started on this board way back in 2003 - lost around 80 pounds total (got down to around 270) after having my 2nd child, thought I looked horrible still but having old film developed really gives you a reality check - Dang I was looking good!

But anyway gained all of that back plus some - got pregnant with my 3rd who is now 6 weeks old and during that pregnancy saw an all time high of 372

I'm trying to get back into this low carb lifestyle cause I know it's what works for me. This morning I was 345 and my mini goal is to get to 335. I figure if I try to break it into small increments it will be better instead of having an overall goal of 100+ pounds to lose.

Everyone here seems to think the same way I do and face the same struggles I do...with the diet soda demon...I'm doing so well I've cut them almost completely out - a feat I must say. I was drinking diet up until I got pregnant and during this last pregnancy craved regular coke..I probably drank 2 2liters a day or more of it....I'm sure that contributed to some of the weight.

I look forward to getting to know you all and skimming through these posts came up with some questions...

Jenn- was it you who said you loved smashed cauliflower? How do you make it? I've experimented in the past with recipes and they usually ended up like an experiment you would find in a science lab.

Umm-what kind of callanetics are you doing? I'm interested in these.

Well I'm at work so I have to run for now-nice to meet you all!!!

Shayla - Welcome (back) to the boards!!! boil the caulifllower - I drained it and gave it a good squeeze in a towel to get the extra moisture out. throw it in a pot or bowl and add sour cream, bacon, green onion and whatever else you love on backed potatoes. They're great. A few days ago I added mustard, helmanns, egg and onion to make cauliflower salad. It's been AWESOME! I'm all about recipes... I need variety to make this work!

I just now am starting back to the lc woe. What are you currently doing?

This morning I started with 3 eggs and 2 hotdogs which I browned/burnt in the pan weird I know.

I'm contemplating snack/lunch....I'm really hungry not sure what I want though.

For dinner I'm gonna cook taco meat with ground turkey and eat it on a salad.

What do ya'll do for snacks?

I wanna try to make the oopsies but I'm afraid I'll mess them up.

shayla - for snack I like cheese, vegetables, jerkey, more vegetables, and sf jello. cheese can also be fried or super nuked in the microwave to make little chips if you're needing a crunch.

after mindlessly eating more pepperoni this morning than i EVER should be eating...i think my goal for june is going to be focusing on only eating when i'm hungry and no other triggers, such as it sitting RIGHT in front of me my baby,2, loves pepperoni and i was pulling little clumps out of the package for him this morning and just kept right on popping them in my mouth too..i LOVEEEEEE pepperoni bad BAD pepperoni lol

so anyhow i try to change it up every month so i don't get too bored or frustrated...i did LC only in april, i did calorie counting in may with LC choices but not all LC, and now i want to do calorie counting with mostly LC choices and focus more on how i eat this month....i have LC lunches ready to go to work this week for me, because this last week and a half has KILLED me on the routine, which is vital to how i eat....i've also noticed a dramatic loss of appetite the last few days, dunno why, but it might help me to use that to focus on how and why i eat and maybe drop a few more pounds

the scale hovered right at 202-203 all last week even though i was having a hard time staying on plan and on friday (my official weigh in weekly) it jumped to 204, closer to 205 so now i keep on trying to stay on my various plans and hope the scale keeps going down to that magic goal of 198
