hello

morning all! Thank you for all the hello's! I have been working 3rd shift this past F,S,Su. and M so I haven't been posting as much, but I am back! Today is day 4, really. I started Sat but had an oops-so Sunday was officially day #1. I can tell you though,it is best to be prepaired when doing LC because Sat a couple of pieces of toast is what ruined it for me. I have all the stuff I need in the house, now! To be honest I feel great.......which surprises me. I expected to feel a bit sluggish the 1st week......... Anyway, is anyone here addicted to ketostix? I sure am! And it is blazing dark purple!!! I was surprised to see I went into ketosis so quick! I will say, however, I need to up my water and vege's. I have been so busy at work this weekend that I ate very simple and skipped out on a few essentials. I work 12 hour nights and don't have time to prepare much unless I have prepared it all ahead of time.
I did weigh myself saturday. I was 276.8............ which is close to what I thought it was, but hard to see, anyway. I vow never to be at that weight again!!I will WI on Saturdays.

Melissa, you are doing so great.....you should be proud! I can only hope I do half as well!

Jennifer

Morning Everyone. Hope today is a great low carb day for you. I ate more carbs than necessary last nite before bed and I had horrible dreams all nite long. I need, no I have to increase my water because I am having horrible thigh spasms again. What is wrong with a person that knows better but continues to ignore what they must do???

Going back to fitday, I seem to do better when I am recording all that goes into my mouth. My biggest problem with that is sitting down here to record it during or at the end of the day.

Heidi, I didn't get a good day in yesterday but today its going back on plan for me. Hope you had a good one.

Ummrashid, that baby is adorable

Melissa, what toppings did you use on your thin crust pizza? Just the crust sounds good I am going to eventually make the oopsie rolls. I just seem to get in trouble every time I branch out with food. The simplier I eat the better I am.

Chamie, welcome and I wish you a great low carb way of eating everyday

Hope everyone has a low carb day.

that baby is super cute!

I am addicted to ketostix and I am not buying them again.

I had an ok day yesterday. I overdid cheese. but mostly did ok. I have not been walking since having a really cruddy back & neck injury?? I have no idea why it's hurting so dang much... it seems like a tiny move on the scale this morning , but I will wait to change my sig, for a few days to see if it sticks.

I hope all of you have a nice day

Chamie - congrats on making it through the long weekend. I'll be working shifts like that when I graduate so I'm looking forward to it. Last time I did LC I was totally addicted to ketostix... they were like my own personal cheerleaders everytime I pee'd (and since I was doing it pretty much alone, that's as good as it got!) I haven't used them this time around but I'm losing weight so I don't think I want to use them. I've read from a lot of people that they go into and out of ketosis daily so the strips were very aggravating for them. I'd like to avoid aggravation and stay in the positive. In the end, if they work for you, and they're keeping you motivated to stay on track, keep using them! Do whatever works. That's what I'm doing and it's working. Congrats on the initial weigh... I know that one sucks... but you'll be glad when you drop 10 lbs and you aren't wondering exactly how much you lost... that's what I did the first time and it just killed me that I had to estimate my total weight loss.

JuneBug: I'm still in the mode where cheats just make me feel SOOO guilty... I'd probably have nightmares too!!! The upside is I've only had 1 or 2 cheats since I started this time... and one was a baby snickers that my SI Leader gave me... and I've always felt that you should take whats offered and not be a pain in the butt with the "Oh I can't eat that... I'm on a diet!" so I didn't have too much guilt over it. I have been adjusting my intakes to make this diet workable, I'm about to add a lot of LC vegetables to my diet. I'll give that two weeks and see how it goes.

Heidi: Congrats on the loss! Even though it was tiny and we may be jumping the gun. I love all my losses... even the .2 of a pound... I'm really glad the scale is digital.

Today is my birfday! I decided to stay LC today and not cheat. I'm really feeling GOOD with my LC diet and I don't think eating a piece of cake will add to that... so I'll just stick with what I've been doing. Mom gave me a great idea for a LC goodie.

1/2 cup Dreyers LC Ice Cream
1 oz Cream Cheese
1 TBLS Davinci's Sugar Free Syrup

She says you mix it all up and it tastes like cheese cake. She did recommend splenda to sweeten the cream cheese, but I'm thinking the davinci's syrup will handle that. I've been addicted to my hazlenut syrup so I think I'll use that with the vanilla ice cream. That'll be my birfday cake today!!!

Good morning ladies....345 this morning I need to leave the scale alone before I have a water flux or something and hurt my own feelings....I had to leave the ketostix alone because my first week they were so dark purple that when they lightened to pink I was crushed, still losing and the book says any shade is good so I am not buying anymore for a while.

Jennbaker, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday dear Jenn, Happy Birthday to you....arent you glad you cant hear me...lol

Heidi great job with the move on the scale any downward move is great...

Junebug sorry to hear about the bad dreams,,I like to keep it simple too, but I figure that the oopsies only have two ingredients eggs and cream cheese. and that the pizza crust is egg and cheese (seasonings in both your options) that they are pretty safe and satisfy any bread cravings I may have had....My toppings were pepperoni and black olives with provelone cheese but the options are unlimited....

chamie, GREAT JOB!!! I am so happy for you that you are working out your schedule thats one of the hardest parts when you cant just grab and go....funny how all those grab and go products are carb and preservative ridden.....

ummrashid I hope all is well with you and the world and look forward to many more insights from you on this journey...

alaskan I don't even have to ask I know with the hubby away you are running crazy, remember to take a minute out for you...

i also get bad dreams when i eat stuff too close to bedtime...i will have to pay attn to how many carbs are in it, although it's rare enuf that i eat close to bedtime and so i notice the dreams and how it affects my sleep....usually by the time it's close to bed, i'm so tired that it's just too much effort to even eat

yesterday went smoothly, the kids behaved as well as could be expected although the little one seems awfully tired today as well as yesterday....i dont know why, maybe he's growing again, he gets tired alot when he grows

last day of school for the older one, it's still warm and close to 70 today....the random relative showed up at 10 p.m. last night and my dog about had a freaking heart attack i thought she was gonna eat him on the spot LOL but he stayed the night and was gone by the time i got up this morning....i assume he's staying here again tonight, i guess i'll see if he shows up again

it doesnt matter to me, im so used to ppl coming and going, friends and kids and relatives...no one hardly knocks anymore...and i dont care, thats just the way it goes...my hubby is more solitary and likes to keep to himself so it bothers him more but he's out of town so LOL....

i think one of the keys to my weightloss is to get so exhausted each day that i'm too tired to eat its only 745 p.m. and already im too mentally and physically worn out to even think of eating....in fact, im picturing m&ms right here in a bowl and im too tired to mentally eat them LOL

i got up with the kids at 8 a.m. and fed them an easy breakfast, got us all ready to go, also fed the neighbor girl who wanted me to take her to school with my son (somehow she forgot to pack a lunch today)....took the kids to school, got my friend and i coffee and took me and the little one to visit her on bedrest and check on her....came home, cleaned house, worked on laundry, washed my hair, made lunches, took baby to daycare, drove downtown to pick up and deposit hubby's paycheck...all before 1 p.m. because i had to be to work at 1....then spent 4 hours working with very emotional, grumpy children on teh last day of school....they were all weepy and sad and tired and hyped on sugary end-of=school treats etc....

got off work at 5, picked up son from daycare who promptly began throwing one exhausted temper tantrum after another for TWO AND A HALF HOURS over every little thing.....i dont think he napped much at daycare lol....drove out to pick up an 8th grader who's spending the night but him and older son were too bratty (okay not him, just MY older son) so i booted them both outside to play since it's sunny...fed them all an easy dinner

called hubby so he can say goodnight to tempertantrum #1 and off to bed he went...EARLY and now its 745 and im exhausted...i still have a messy house, dirty dishes, and a mountain of laundry to fold

Good morning everyone!!! Hope you're all doing well and having a GREAT LC Day!!!

Melissa: Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hubby is buying me a motorcycle but it didn't come in yesterday... but it'll be here eventually... so I'm excited!!!

Alaskan: Sorry you're so tired. I guess Friday when your Hubby gets back can't come soon enough for you!!! But you sound like a trooper and you are definitely hanging in there with grace. I admire that! I just don't know that I could handle all that you do with the grace that you do.

Heidi: Good start for today! Stick with it. Melissa wrote about those egg and cream cheese muffins and I can't quit thinking about them now... I bought a cute little heart shape muffin pan and I'm REALLY wanting to try it out in there...

Happy Birthday agian...

Yes it was Cream Cheese Muffins I just found them in another thread, it says

2-8oz pkg philadelphia cream cheese
1/2 cup splenda
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla

Soften cream cheese 40 seconds in microwave. Add other ingredients. Beat with mixer till smooth. Pour into 12 lined muffin pans. Bake at 350 for 20 min.
says they are best out of the ice box (sorry Texas slips out)refrigerator.

Doesn't that sound yummy

I am ready for when I am into owl and not induction, I cant wait to take an oopsie add 1/4 scoop of low carb van ice cream, some suger free strawberry topping and a squirt of redi whip....I am craving strawberry shortcake..

Hi all!

Glad to see everyone doing so well! I have had a long 36 hours. DH was admitted to the hosp for a g-bladder attack- we have been waiting around to see if he is going to have surg or go home. With 5 kids that isn't an easy feat!! Anyway- back on to the LC update....I have been doing great! I am and always will be addicted to ketostix and they are dark, dark purple so I definitely am in ketosis! I did have a scare last night though. We (the kiddos & I without DH) went to Burger King and I got a whopper without the bun............I ate about, well, 99% of it before I realized that there was ketchup on it. The crappy thing is that I don't even like ketchup!! I was so worried that I wouldn't be in ketosis this morning...but surprisingly enough it was darker than yesterday even! Thank goodness!!

I'll update you about my day later!
Happy LC'ing!!

Chamie - I hope he gets that gallbladder out soon. I've had a few friends/relatives who needed them out and it was really scary until we found out it was gallbladder... but it comes out, quick recovery and all is great again... then they get to enjoy learning how to eat. Congrats on doing well with eating LC. I wouldn't worry too much about the ketchup... it's like 5 gm sugar in 1 tbls and I'm sure there was less than a tbls on your burger... especially if it took a while to notice it.

Glad you're all doing well. For some reason I'm starving myself today. I've just kept putting off my meals and putting off and putting off and I still haven't eaten breakfast. Just had a shake. Oddly my stomach is only mildly cranky. I'm making a brisket as soon as my pan gets clean and then I'll be GRUBBIN!!!! I keep telling myself I'd rather fill up on it instead of something else... but now it's already 4:30 and I've usually eaten dinner by now (weird schedule, but it works!)...

Ahh well, I'll check in with you all later. Have a good day!!!

Good morning everyone!!!

Hope you're all doing well today!

Alaskan: Sorry to hear about your hydrophobia child... I had hydrophobia for a about 7 - 10 years... I was okay in a bathtub but illogically terrified in swimming pools or open water (I was terrified of Hammerhead sharks... why I would be afraid in a pool is beyond me...). I think I'm better now but we'll find out when I'm in swimsuit shape!!!

Have a good day, all! I'll check in with you later!!!

Hi all! Looks like you all are doing great. I've been on vacation in Branson this week and did well. I love that you can eat nearly anywhere on this WOE and be good! The only straying I did was to have a sugar free turtle one day and 2 bites of a sugar free cheesecake yesterday. I'm not in Ketosis today, so I'm sure the sugar alcohol has done that. But no cravings and I'm not really worried about gaining weight--I'll find out Monday! Melissa, I'm pleased you are doing so well! Hang in there and it'll get easier and easier!
