Good Morning everyone,

Deb, I am sorry to hear about your kitty. Furbabies become part of family too, so, I know how hard this must be. We have a big ole fat cat named Ofelia, that is like a lil baby! No, really, she is.....she needs diapers!

I will be praying for you and baby today.

Hope everyone gets off to a great stary in May.
I have just ordered a scale. I am almost afraid to get it though.
I have no idea what I weigh, just know it's over 400lb!
My DD bought a scale that went to 400 yesterday and I can not
get a reading on it. I almost fainted! Had NO IDEA that I weighed this much. My scale goes to 440lbs, if I can not get a reading on that, then I don't want to know! I will just keep checking it until it reads!
I am staying strong on induction. Have had little trouble staying on, so I feel that I will be good for the long term.

Blessings everyone,

So I've got a little dieting challenge at work - I just started cross-training in the little deli they have there. And the manager is a big believer in us "sampling" the product! He keeps thrusting little sample cups of potato salad and such at me!

It's a very cool attitude for him to have, but a bit challenging for someone trying to avoid the carbs. I think I'll just tell him that I'm avoiding heavily carby stuff - but I'm perfectly willing to sample the meats and cheeses!

Hi-
Glad to hear Gandalf is doing better! *yay!*

I've cleared the way this first day of May for a lowcarb lifestyle-HOORAY! (Dr. Seus won't block our way!) What do you all say?

Kim-sounds like a good plan for getting samples and staying low carb!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I just posted a comment on my BLOG that describes my 3month experience of owning a scale as "having fun without food" - and it really has added a joyful dimension to my LC life. You can read it at my BLOG, if you want to celebrate with me 100# gone off me! Or maybe I'll just celebrate by putting it all in the record here:
Quote:
Since I started publishing...er, tracking...my weight as a part of my signature, I find I'm having fun with data. I'm learning about coding as I set up a colorful array of keystrokes showing my weight bouncing and inching my way - ounce by ounce - in a downward trend. It's data. It's not as awful as I've viewed my weight before I got a scale and got support from folks of all sizes at LCFriends. I'm so well supported that I dare speak of my weight as pure data. No shame in it, even as I talk with normal-size people who weigh well under 200# and who hear me talk about moving toward 399# as if they too can celebrate with me an increased mobility (one can only hope!) and greater health (almost certainly) as I move gradually away from being obese, toward being just a large person.

I think I shall always be a large person, even as I lose half my current weight of 408.8 (5/1/08) - 100# lower than my top recorded weight of 508.7 (9/9/04) as I re-started Atkins and recorded that weight in DANDR.

That said, here's my current colorful signature block:
Quote:
Feb: -5# 432.4#(2/8) 426.8(2/13), 429.6(2/16), 432.2(2/23), 426.8(2/27)
March: -13# 427.6(3/1) 426.2(3/8) 426.0(3/15) 418.2(3/22) 416.2(3/29)
April: -5.8# 414.6(4/1) 418.6(4/5) 413.2(4/8) 412.2(4/10) 414(4/12) 413.4(4/16) 409.8(4/19) 409.6(4/26) 409.2(4/29)
May: 408.8(5/1) 100# lower than recorded high of 508.7 (9/9/04)
Interim goals: 432.4 430 420 410 399 390 380 370 360 350 340 330 320 310 299 290 280 270 260 250 240 230 220 210 199

5'10"; 64yrs; Your feedback is welcome at my blog
Tango, anyone?
Definitely qualifies as "having fun without food" as I dare to publish my stats in a colorful way as my proud signature on posts at LCFriends. What a lift I get from visiting this site, my home site, and cheering on others as I accept support from gracious LCFriends of all sizes. What fun!
Could not have done this without the gracious support of my LC Friends - especially the dear folks of all sizes at Deb's 300+ Support thread.

Yay, Gandalf, for bouncing back! Cats RULE!!!

Cats who are loved can achieve miracles. My cats amazed my vet, who doubted my hopes as I carried a bedraggled feline in for his attention. Once he called me late at night to report that a beloved cat had indeed come to life, bit him, peed on him, and almost got out of restraints (I warned him that she was a Houdini) as she got new blood from a donor cat. He had tried to talk me out of spending money on a procedure he felt would not benefit my cat, but I knew my cat had suffered an abrupt decline in health and might still recover with a transfusion. Sure enough, he was laughing as he called late at night to tell me she had revived. What a great vet he is - Dr.Kelly on Main Street in San Diego! Vets are so intuitive that they make us wish we could find such a doctor for us too!

Meeting a LC challenge as a potential opportunity to do good!

Any chance you can start steering him toward appreciating some LC selections? Maybe even posting a "LC" notice listing items that are less carby than others? Imagine finding an array of LC deli items available for folks who are aware of the value of eating without sugar/starch undermining health! As you work in that area, maybe you can cue the mgr to setting up a LC section that people can trust not to sabotage their LC plan. Lots of great deli selections probably fit the bill already. Others may be new ideas, using cauliflower in lieu of potatoes. Just reading labels and being aware of the pitfalls associated with deli foods that LOOK like honest meats (but are laced with hidden carbs) might boost sales. At the very least, you can strike a positive blow for LC by being a glowing example of radiant good health. Your avatar is stunning!

Hi Deb and the rest of you to.
May is already here, my where has time flown to.
Sunday is my hubby's birthday so I have to plan a get together with the family for him.

Not much going on with me today, except I have been rubbing down my sunburn I got yesterday with sun burn medication. I sat out on the patio yesterday and guess I over did it because I am all red all over. I did not feel myself burning like this because there was a nice breeze and it felt so good. I had sun screen on to but it was only a 30. Guess need to get a stronger one.
But I usually do get red like this when I first start getting out in the sun for the summer, After I get a tan I can stay out in as long as I want and don't get burned.

Deb, is this May site here on the main bulleting board so we all can find it again?
