alaskan- That is an awesome story. I wanna give that Jackson little smooshies. And what eyes!

Zer- I did not have popcorn. It was hard, but I just ended up going to bed. Easier that way. Thanks for being with me in thought.

<---Red Robin Bacon Guacamole cheeseburger, fully loaded on an oopsie roll! They brought me fries even though I asked for a side of steamed veg. I tossed the fries. I was a little bit ticked that he screwed up my order, though! I was looking forward to the veggies.

The oopsie rolls were hefty and held that burger beautifully. It was an awesome burger!

jackson looks EXACTLY like his daddy, especially daddy's baby photos, they could be twins ...they were even born at the same hospital and weighed the same at birth....he acts just like his dad too and shadows him everywhere LOL

We had an F4-F5 tornado roll through here today. Quite devastating. No one in my family had any damage or problems but we are hearing one of my husband's students was one of the 9 killed just 5 or 6 miles from our home. I was watching Londyn today and actually had to drive 30 miles out of the way to even get home this evening. Took me an hour and a half to make a trip that usually takes 25 minutes. Please be thinking and praying for the families who are suffering tonight.

Thanks guys!
Kim

Kim...glad you got home safe...

Also glad your family is all right. So sorry for those in harm's way. Mother Nature can be harsh, no two ways about it.

i knew May was gonna be busy but it just got busier....it's already busy at work because my boss fails to show up for work randomly and often...my older son is going on a class trip this coming week....i am doing a mentoring/judging thing with the middle school kids two days this week in between my split shift work...i work 7-10 a.m. and then 1-5 p.m. at my son's elementary school , managing a program for before/after school hours....also this week our younger one, 2, switches daycare programs because our longtime one is leaving town she was sooooo good with jackson

so our best friends are pregnant again, they have a 7 year old and 3 year old and her pregnant is extremely high risk again....i told everyone, work included, that i will be adjusting my hours accordingly when i have to help them out....we may end up taking both kids if she needs to go to a larger city for medical reasons....so today she was hospitalized and they thought she was going to have to go to seattle...but the treatments are working and they are letting her go home today on strict bedrest...

so im helping out by picking up the 7year old from school every afternoon now, starting tomorrow, and taking her home, then i go to work from 3-5 instead of 1-5, and then at 5 i go pick up the 3 year old and take him home to play with our youngest during the evening so she doesnt have to move around to take care of him....then when ours go to bed, i take him BACK home and help get him ready for bed there....

we're also working on cleaning up our yard and seeding a lawn LOL....then the last week of may (while i'm still doing all this) my hubby has to fly out of town for his work for that week....this all makes sense in my head thank god i never did any drugs, i need every working brain cell i have up there

help!! support!! im gonna need it all and a few prayers to make it through may and be sane LOLOL

Something oily would probably satisfy you. Got butter or olive oil to work up a dish of some sort. Maybe just some buttery scrambled eggs, with more butter on top to melt in? I just did a 2d hot slosh with VCO in it, to help me finish off a good day - too good a day to risk going anywhere near the kitchen where I might just fall for some milk and cereal. Don't want to mess up my nice loss by scarfing carby stuff right now. So how about you? Got VCO? If so, you might do a hot cuppa chicken broth and add some VCO to it. Tonight's hot slosh had chicken bouillon crystals instead of espresso crystals. Nighttime is better for broth than for espresso, as far as caffeine and sleeping goes. Good luck in finding something to top you off. Butter curls off a knife might do the trick!

NutritionData says my BMI is 57.3; BMR is 3,073cals daily

BMI: 57.3...burns 3,073cals daily (by NutritionData)

Staggering, eh? 3,073cals just to maintain this weight? I don't THINK so!!!

My metabolism is more efficient, maintains weight on far fewer calories daily!

BMI & Daily Needs Calculator: BMI & Calories Burned Report: You are a 64 year old woman, 5ft-10in / 178cm tall, with a current weight of 400.0lbs. You lead a sedentary lifestyle. Your current Body Mass Index (BMI) is 57.3.
Quote:
BMI is a standardized ratio of weight to height, and is often used as a general indicator of health. The "normal" BMI for an adult woman of your height is 18.5 to 24.9. This translates to a healthy weight range of 129 to 174 lbs. However, BMI does not take body composition into account. A weight above this range could still be considered healthy if your percentage body fat is less than average.
Here is an estimate of your daily energy needs...
Calories Burned
Daily Energy Expenditure: 3073 kcal (12866 kJ)
Your Recommended Minimum Daily Needs: Here is an estimate of your minimum daily nutrient needs, based on the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI) established by the Food and Nutrition Board, Institute of Medicine (IOM).
Quote:
Recommended Minimums
Total Carbohydrate 130.0g
Dietary Fiber 21.0g
Protein 145g
Well, it's something to consider. Of course, I'm not at all aiming to ingest as many grams of carb as indicated here. But the protein grams look about right as a target for a person my size.

NutritionData offers a lot of info, useful data, wonderful colorful charts! I'll be ba-a-ack to check out other stuff. Some of this info has GOT to start sinking in, to make more sense to me, sooner or later. It's all a mystery at the present time. Getting enough calories into me to make Atkins work, that is the name of the game. Got to make better use of VCO, to boost fats/cals.

Monday morn dawns in SoCal...lots of stuff to do today...

Question is, will I get up and OUT to do the necessary stuff? I never know until I hit the street. It's always a surprise to me, finding myself up and OUT, on the way to the p'office to see how much junk mail has been stuffed into my small pobox to overload it. By the time I dump the junk mail in the recycle bin at the p'office, I have a handful of papers. Not a full handful, just a few papers. I wish the p'office had a way of denying access to junk mail to a person's pobox.

That said, I'm still abed, full of hot slosh and not quite sure today is a going-out day or a procrastination day. What will happen? Who knows. I sure don't.

Have yourself a good LC day today - whether you get all the TO DO list done or not. Make it a productive day! I've got indoor stuff that I can do to make this a productive day, even if I do not get trash out or collect my accumulated junk mail from a pobox that is probably stuffed to the gills by now. Sigh. Junk mail. All those catalogs that one is tempted to flip through. Got to avoid all of them. This is a month when I am trying to avoid a lot of spending, to cut back on the monthly bill and get a grip on my online buying!

i had a thought about myself the other day and wondered if it applies to anyone else....i have several children with sensory integration disorder in my school program and essentially their senses are either underprocessing or overprocessing or just get mixed up...one of my kids will tell mom "im hungry" and she gets him some food (yes, he's spoiled lol) and then he says "no im thirsty" and its frustrating for her....but really its because he gets his senses all mixed up

i was talking about this with hubby because he has similar types of overwhelming sensory processing...he is a hermit, cannot handle loud noises, light etc., gets panicky when he's overwhelmed with noise and/or people....and we were talking about whether he, as an adult, has a version of this disorder

and then it occurred to me yesterday that sometimes i get my own signals mixed up....most often when im hungry without actually BEING hungry, its when im either tired or cold...and if i lay down or warm up, then i stop feeling like i need to eat something...i think part of yesterday's starving problem was being so cold all day ...im very sensitive to cold anyhow, which sucks for living in alaska LOL

what do you guys think?

Alaskan-
it is possible-I think our bodies also do weird things to try to conserve energy when we lose weight-for instance I used to be hot all the time, now I'm cold alot and my family finds it humorous because they say I used to keep it cold enough to hang meat in the house. I think your body might have wanted more food just to rev things up and it also might be a bit confused. That's why eating somethign with fat can help-gives you a satisfied feeling. Also we get into habits-I used to graze when I was bored, upset, tired, worried, happy, etc. so it took alot for me to not graze. I still find myself wanting to mindlessly graze on ocassion-just find it comforting to have something. It is one reason why I kept gaining and gaining. It didn't rev up my metabolism-it just made me gain. Other people swear by eating small amount every so often. Guess it is a YMMV (your mileage may vary) thing.

Zer-hope you get alot accomplished! KUTGW!

I have to shed 18 pounds in the next 17 days to hit a special goal-let's hope I do it! I could use all the help I can get from folks here. I weighed in at 287 this morning and getting under 276.2 means I will have lost 100 pounds from my all time high last year in March. Hitting 269 would be a really BIG goal (even more than losing 100 pounds, if you can believe it), because it would mean I broke through where I always used to get stuck-at 270 so at 269 and it would be the least I've weighed in over a decade-not to mention less than I have ever weighed since I met Valerio and I want to be the BEST I've EVER been when we go in front of the Judge to make this official (and I'll be flying over to Italy June 1st so it would be a big accomplishment to hit that before I go).

Does anyone have any tips, hints, ideas about how to lose that much by then in a healthy way that isn't simply a matter of severely dehydrating myself or starving? I really want the weight I shed to be permanent and not a quick fix where I gain it all back just by drinking water.

Thanks!

--Laura

Yesterday I cleaned, cooked, did laundry, tended boo-boos, supervised baths, unloaded and loaded the dishwasher, made breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and breakfast for me for this AM, changed the sheets on my bed, unclogged a toilet, chased a runaway cat, and, just for fun, watched about 5 minutes of my favorite TV show until one of my brood came and changed the channel! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS - I went to work today to rest up from the weekend!

Hey, Laura! I'll be in with you to lose quickly for May!

I really recommend you stay the course. You are doing so well! Have you had an off-plan meal lately? Many claim leptin depletions will sometimes cause stalls or slower losses. I know that if I take an occasional off-plan meal (no dessert, though) I tend to pick up losses again.

I have been bad with the exercise and so am going to pick that up again. I've been having shoe issues.

I will be cheering you on to make your goal! Work it mama!
