I have been following this thread for a few months and have found alot of useful advice on here. So my question is, "With the coconut oil, are you drinking it or cooking with it?" I am al little naive, sorry....lol. Anyways I would appreciate any advice you can give me. I have lost the same 10 lbs over and over again. I am a Special Education Aide and now that school is out for the summer, I am having a really hard time sticking with low carb. My kids keep me running from one baseball game to another. Do you have any good snack ideas I can take to these games with me? Thanks so much!!!

Working to eat more food than I really want to eat. Urk. Pushing myself. Urk. And hope to eat several times today - protein-fat mostly - to reach my targets.

If I get up and OUT the door, I'll hit a Carl's for a breakfast bowl, recently featured in Cleo's column as LC fast food worth risking drive-by dining. Or maybe I'll get a LC burger wrapped in lettuce. Might go double patties too.

Dehydration, a real hazard...makes for a faux "loss"...

Good idea, to push water as a possible remedy for a headache due to lack of water on a busy day. You really hustle, so it's easy to see how you might miss getting enough water as you run run run.

i know that i usually weigh about two pounds more in the afternoon than the morning, thats just the way my body fluctuates....so i mostly read in the mornings just to be accurate every time...i maintained at 206 all month and weighed myself this afternoon at just over 204...like 204.25ish...which means if you factor in the two pound fluctuate, i'm HOPING my morning weigh in ... will be closer to 202 *crossing fingers*
Hope you got your wish. Maybe even a WHOOSH? Just keep on sipping that water!

Losing the same few pounds...over and over and over...sigh...

I too am losing the same pounds I've lost and regained over and over. Hopefully this is the last time I'll see these pounds!

I'd go for protein-fat snacks as much as possible, rather than carb-fat snacks. Melle's Cheatos (basically eggwhite meringue with cheese baked in) look to me like a recipe that travels well. Melle says she's packing them on a camping trip. The latest tweak on her recipe - now in LCFriends Recipe site - is to put the dabs of meringue into a pre-heated 300º oven that has just been turned OFF. As the dabs cook up, they get as crispy as the carby cheesy treats that many of us ate by the bucketful before we wised up and started LC'ing. Can you imagine being able to snack on a cheesy treat all day long and knowing that it was protein-fat and that you are stoking your metabolism as well as feeling positively sinful for eating snackish food on the run? I'd say that you will find this a snack worth making. Do check out Melle's thread about making meringues, but the recipe can be found in LCF's Recipe section.

Cleo -- oopsie question

I guess anyone who knows can answer this...

But, are the oopsies supposed to be very light and airy and fluffy and almost melt-in-your-mouth? Mine never seemed to get dense or dry out, even after sitting on the counter for the entire day. They're also very sticky to the touch. They taste good, but they don't seem to be the consistency that everyone is describing.

well i never had a chance to weigh this morning....i dont have a headache today - yet - although i'm surprised...my daycare called up sick this morning so i had nowhere to take the toddler, so i took him to work this morning because school is out....he was a typical two year old and made a disaster in my room and ran as far away as he could in the building and screamed a fit when i caught him etc....i lasted ONE HOUR and didnt get a single thing done at work and gave up and left....i put him down for a nap at 10 a.m. which is really odd because he normally doesnt need a nap til noon or later, i think the heat is wearing him out, plus a change in his weekly routine, plus his dad out of town older kids went out to play, one of their friends bribed them to help her clean her house in exchange for pizza today i've never seen two boys more eager to help a girl clean LOLOL

This is how mine are too. They aren't "solid" like bread. They are a little squishy and light like you described. Mine turn out exactly like all the pictures posted so I think I'm doing the recipe right.

update - it's been a while

Amm – me three. Mine turn out a little “spongy” like that. They work for burgers, especially at fast food places where you don’t have the option of a plate and a fork. But for me at least, the hassle of making them for regular every day use at home is just more bother than using a plate and fork. Same thing w/ the pizza crust recipes, I can’t get them to turn out solid or dry enough to hold up to eating w/ my hands like a regular slice of pizza. I put all the toppings I want into and oven safe ramekin and bake them all up for gooey cheese and hot tomato sauce.

But that’s b/c I’m cooking challenged, and anything that can be done easier w/ fewer dishes will win over anything complicated. Everything I’ve tried tastes good, and goes w/ whatever it’s supposed to go w/. I’m just kitchen retarded.

Anyway I think I can officially say I broke into the 200s. The first time I saw it I think it was an artificial low due to dehydration. It’s stayed there, and I’ve gotten back on track water wise; but it hasn’t budged any lower in almost a week.

I’ve eaten on plan so far too. Usually I end up cheating about once a week. Not a blow out, just eating out w/ friends I order a drink or have a bite of whatever carby side comes w/ what I ordered. The last time I did that was Friday; I had a martini and maybe 3 bites of mashed potatoes. Everything since that dinner has been completely clean! I’ve even laid WAY off the cheese, and lattes. I keep hoping to see that all translate into a loss, but the scale was STUCK at a pound and a half UP from Tuesday, and jut today back down to that same 298. Maybe at the end of TOM it will be a whoosh down? At it's an actual low, not artificial anymore.

I’m trying to plan a GOOD weekend w/ my sister in town, sailing to a baseball game, and happy hour today. We have another friend in from Germany for the game & sailing. Social events KILL me. I can’t be on plan in public!! If someone orders a round of drinks I can’t say no. I order as best I can off the menu, but you still can’t control marinades or stuff like that. I already volunteered to get steaks for BBQing on the boat so we don’t eat ball park crap for dinner tomorrow I’m going to pack some vodka or something so I can at least drink that instead of beer. But I SHOULD skip happy hour to swim a mile and a half, I’ve been lazy and doing just miles lately, instead of Happy Hour. I can still meet everyone for dinner later.

This week has been tough life wise. My car still hasn’t turned up, my temporary ATM for my new checking account got stolen less than a week after I got it; and the new one STILL hasn’t shown up in the mail. The wallet I got to replace the stolen one broke not even 24 hours after I bought it. The instructor didn’t show up to my Tuesday Y class so I had to do laps instead, and it was like pulling teeth! I’ve had some sort of migraine off and on for the last few days, and I’m 8 cases behind at work for this week. The dogs are getting out of control w/ outnumbering me so drastically. I can’t wait for my roommate to get back home and take care of her own little pups. But she’s home tomorrow, and I’m going sailing. It will all be better next week.

Besides I kept the LCing ont rack, surely that means my luck will turn around w/ a huge whoosh sooner or later, right? Not losing is getting REALLY frustrating. A pound or 1.5 a week, all at once, is not conducive to my motivation!

Zer, Where are you this morning? Seems like you usually beat me online. Thinking that you are doing wash or post office. ...................... check in when you can, okay?

I got a new hairdo this week and I love it. Can't believe I went soooooooo short. It's probably for a smaller person but I figured I should get prepared for being a smaller person Plus, it's easier than my usual medium length perm when we get a chance to go to the pool in town.

I'll check back later today.

Two days left in May (today and tomorrow) to drop weight!

Wow, you are on the threshold of ONEderLand! How exciting. Have a good LC day today and then again tomorrow. Let's all hang in there for just two days, to see what effect that has on a June 1 weigh-in. We can DO this!

Don't give up on 198 for May, the way you work out around the house and with the kids. You could still show a WHOOSH! if you eat LC and drink your water!

Late start this ayem, after a typically wakeful night. Got drowsy at dawn, so snuggled down for a nap. Lazy? You got it. No reason for me to punch a timeclock, so I'm lazy.

I know what you mean about being shorn like a sheep. Sometimes a haircut is a startling experience. I was telling a volunteer stylist that I want short in the back and longer over my big ears and she just ran the clippers clean over the left side of my head, taking off the hair that I was counting on fluffing over my heffalump ears. What was I to do? A free haircut at the senior center is what it is - FREE! So I got shorn like a sheep that time. Have been cutting my own hair since then, for a raggedy look but not so short as the professional haircut. Sure would like to be tidier, but am not sure the local salon's chairs will allow my capacious butt to perch on them.

I have a portable folding bench on order that is usable in the shower and that may be tall enough (19") to allow me to perch and stand up unassisted. Yay! Horrible to sit down and realize that I'm sitting too low to stand up on my own because the seat is lower than my knees. I hope this folding seat will give me some help in sitting wherever I can carry and set up a portable seat.

Good evening everyone!
Another day under my belt.
Breakfast: 1 grilled cheeseburger patty
Lunch: 3 buttered boiled eggs
Dinner: Lovely tossed salad with homemade blue cheese dressing and cut up rib eye chunks
I have drunk alot of water but maybe not enough today. I did grass mowing (push mower) then riding mower, laundry, vacumning, then errands with 3 yr old in tow.
I plan to stay on track this weekend and if $$$ permits I want to see the "Sex and the City" movie. I just love Carrie and Mr. Big!
We will yard sale early in the morning as we both love to hunt for treasure. I have learned to only buy if I really need something to avoid cluttering my home. Right now I am on a hunt for a table and chairs for my daughter. Hubby and I just enjoy the hunt.
Have a good weekend and stay on track...I will check in when I can.
Love to all,
Jean

Saturday is weigh day. Sunday is June 1, the day when I can total up all of May's losses/gains/losses. Yes, May has been a bOunCy month, a down-up-and-down month, sad to say. Trend is still going in the right direction, but the daily bOunCes are disheartening, to say the least.

Menu details at my BLOG, in the FitDay sector.
