dixi-- hang in there!!! I am so proud of you!!!

I also want to put this out there:

I have a challenge for the next six months beginning in June (we're assembling now). I am putting people into teams, so if you feel motivated to lose when you're on a team in a competition, please consider joining! Click the link in my siggy to join.

Zer, Laura, you guys, I'm serious. You'd be a hoot to have along. You, too, dixi! All you guys are welcome to come on in whether you post here or are a lurker! The team with the greatest losses at the end of the year gets the dubious distinction of being the cool team and will get special avatars to proudly display.

There is a spreadsheet and a lot of fun to be had, new threads each week, and accountability galore--but only up to 8 people per team to keep track of, so no being overwhelmed by sheer numbers of people.

Think about it!

happy bday tooooo meeeeee LOL okay there, i bragged lol....im 30, again i plan on being 30 for a few more years before i advance to 31

it was a really nice day and i watched my calories really good until we went to dinner...but it was okay because i had already made up my mind to enjoy a nice dinner with my guy and not worry over food for a change...tonight there was more to life than counting numbers all day long so we went to a nice mexican place downtown and had a nice dinner...he pretended he "found" a box under the table and inside was a beautiful heart-shaped necklace for me its beeeeyoooootiful and then him and the waiter (who i also knew) embarrassed me by singing happy bday - loudly - with the rest of the customers and we shared a death by chocolate dessert....and not ONCE did i think of the calories or obsess over tomorrow's scale number lol

we went for a walk around downtown afterwards and i really enjoyed it because i havent been able to really walk more than a few feet at a time all winter and we went for quite a few blocks - so i was happy

my goals are 1) to get fit enough with my hip healed to play on my volleyball team again and 2) to have another baby sometime down the road, few years and 3) to rework our finances when my guy is promoted to investigator so that i can stay at home with our (future) kids as well as current kids LOL

okay ive rambled enuf

Good morning all,

Cleo, love the examiner. Very cool, will have to follow you on that as well as your blog.
I will accept your challenge young grasshopper, but alas, I must say that my body does not want to release the stored fat and morph to a mantis physic. Yes, I know I am dork!!
I seem to be shedding this weight at snail pace. I am strict, very strict on myself. I want to be able to come in and claim the whoosh fairy every week but ....no......she does not visit me.
I did my official weigh in this am and I am down but not by as much as I hoped.
Official weigh in for end of week 6 is..........410. exactly. So, officially I am down 2.2 lbs since last week.
I am checking my stix every day. I know I am still losing, stix say so, not eating tons of fat, so not false reading. I was dicussing this with my daughter last night. She has tried lc 3 times now, each time she gets to day 3 and bails. So, she decided to just eliminate bread/sugar from her diet to see if she could lose a little. So, she eats splenda, ketchup, even had real bread 1 day and she STILL shows she is in ketosis!!
I on the other hand, get knocked out of ketosis by splenda, cheese, cream cheese and air for that matter! (let me walk by a chocolate cake and watch my ketones drop)!
But, I then I remember why I came back to l/c life. It was not b/c I want to be some slim bathing beauty or anything. It's b/c my heart was screaming from the strain. My knees were swollen and aching and I was altogether miserable!
Now, my blood pressure is that of a 20 yr old and my body aches are all but gone. Except for the occasional bruise from walking into a door or tablel (blind in one eye, double vision, and simply a dork as stated earlier) I feel marvelous!
So, all in all, I will take my tiny loss again this week and I will keep marching the march of LC because, I am not just about numbers. I know if I am showing ketones my body is changing and shedding this dreaded weight, even if it is only 2.2 lbs a week!

So, young grasshopper, as I said, I will take your challenge, but I am afraid I will slow down the team to whom I am assigned. But challenge I will take! ( bows to sensie)

Everyone have a great day!

toodles y'all.

On a positive note, I did actually swim while in the pool yesterday.
DD10 and I have said we are going to do water aerobics... I did not suggest it to her - she asked me what she could do to lose a little weight. Again - I've said nothing to her - but she is entering puberty and has gotten a little chunky...I told her we would eat more veggies and I'd bring home fewer bad choices. I told her she'd start to feel better in no time. I am not telling her we're going to lose 5 or 10 pounds - I'm hoping that - as a kid - with the right foods and some additional exercise she'll slim down naturally.

403.8 on 5/23/08...slowly seeing results from eating more food, encouraged by a thread that advises eating up to my BMR:2423cals - no matter what! Also targeting 150g protein as a daily goal to shoot for by eating fish and eggs as a primary protein source. Still aiming for 128oz water daily as a way to flush out toxins as I press onward - ounce by ounce - for THREEdom. Hopeful, more hopeful than ever!

There are lots of ways to compute BMR and BMI and other guidelines, but not all are suitable for truly large folks. I had some that told me I should aim to eat 4,000cals daily. Urk! Daunting. Then I found a thread at LCFriends that helped me a lot! That's where I am sending anyone who asks me questions about BMR. Best place to start from is this thread on BMR eating as I had some really crazy numbers worked from sites that apparently were not geared to compute BMR for massive weights.

I shall be adjusting my BMR caloric target every 10#, so it will be easier to hit that target as I wend my way to a goal weight of 150# (eventually). Here's to success with LC!

Yep. My current BMR:2423 is based on weight, height, age, as well as my admission that I am inert. In bed 24/7. Barely do much more than struggle to beat feet to the loo as fast as I can shuffle. Often my bowels are working faster than my feet. Happened yesterday. Had to do a clean-up on me and then clean the floor too. Embarrassing to do so in a shared facility where people dart in and dash out to avoid being seen as I wipe up the floor and struggle to make it clean. Hard doing all this with a cane in hand.

So I do recommend anyone gearing up to eat up to one's BMR, to keep muscles nourished. I think I've been starving my muscles for years now. Sigh.

Aw, sweetie (and I mean "LC-sweetie" of course), why try to mess with sweets when helping out with a party? I'd think it would be better and easier to offer to do appetizers or hors d'oeuvres. That way you can play with all the LC foods that we can eat freely of. My auntie served a plate of cream cheese wrapped in dried beef you can buy in a jar or a pouch (Armour brand). It's sliced paper thin - like prosciutto but lots less expensive, I bet, and lends itself to being used as a wrapper for chunks of cream cheese. I think she mixed pickles or olives into her cream cheese, then chilled it to cut into little blocks that she wrapped in dried beef. Wonderful snacks! Probably not as carby as any sweet stuff you are dabbling with right now.

Armour's small glass jars work as juice glasses if you are inclined to re-use glassware, as I am. Oh, see recipe illustrated here

Next time, offer to do a savory food. It's just too difficult, I think, to work with sweets and not to eat myself into a guilty mess. Golly, I'm craving cream cheese now. Yummers!

Hope the party is wonderful. You must be so proud. Beautiful kids!!!

Deb, it all looks so yummy. So glad Im not going to that party What kind of balls are those?? Peanut butter?????

Zur, I have made those beef roll ups before and they are so good. I also make a creamcheese/beef ball. Chopping the beef then blending it with cream cheese with chopped green onions. Form into a ball and u can even roll the ball in chopped pecans or walnuts. So very good....

How great is this, to have your own DD10 decide to work out with you!

She will. She's still growing. Nice to have her working with you, as an incentive to show her how it's done... and to have a better time sharing this with someone who cares. As she observes you dodging carbs, she will pick up habits that will be with her all of her life. What a special gift that is to give to anyone. Happy aerobics to you both!

Hey Friends!
I will be gone till Monday...we are taking our travel trailer out to the lake for a final hoorah. With gas at almost $4.00 per gallon it will probably stay home for a long long time after this. We are only driving 23 miles but I have allotted $50.00 for the round trip. Count in $20.00 per night to camp at the state park and that is $100.00 blown out the window.
It is so sad to think that our big truck and travel trailer are now about worthless due to the price of fuel. This little trip is financed by our $1,200.00 tax break check. The rest of that money is in savings to subsidise us as costs rise.
I am taking nothing but low-no carb foods and will probably get more exercise than usual.
Ate well today..1 can Vienna sausage, 2oz cheese,2 oz of 0 carb lunch meat,1 leftover hamburger patty, and the insides of a Jersey Mikes sub. Dogs sure did love the bread LOL! I am still pleased with my eating..sounds like alot of food but so much better than my carb nightmare of the last 5 months.
Happy Memorial Day to all!
Jean

Calculating protein gram needs...

Pound-weight divided by 2.2 = daily protein grams needed (+/- 10%)

So, for me: 400#/2.2 = 181.81818181818g (+/- 18g)
Target range daily for protein: 164-200g

That's a serious challenge for a non-carnivore!

Finally, some downward movement on the scale! I don't know if I mentioned this, but I have been stuck around 260 for 4-5 weeks and it was becoming very annoying. Today I'm at 258... so yay!

258? Yay! AMM broke through! KUTGW!

What wonderful news, to hear that persistence and hard work DO pay off! You are a shining example to those of us trudging along behind you. Thanks for the encouragement you present, even as you wrestle with 260# and wonder what is wrong. Yes, the effort you put forth inspires folks like me. Honestly!!!

I'm down a few ounces myself, to 403.4#, and working hard to prove that I too can work my LC program. Only a few ounces? Sure, and I'll take 'em proudly! Yesterday was 403.8#, so I'm down 6oz in 24hrs - and looking to make today a better LC day.

Inches? More exciting than ounces or pounds lost!

As much as we all like to see a smaller number show up on the scale, I think we all get MORE excited at fitting into smaller clothes, so I hope your inches lead you to try on your smaller clothes to see what fits you now. Yeah, go closet shopping! Or see if someone has some stuff that is too big for them and that might be sent off to fit this smaller person that you are becoming. All that yard work will burn more calories!
