Good morning all,

You are one tough cookie Zer...lol I cannot tolerate the heat very well at all. However, I live in the northern climate and have no a/c. I do have several ceiling fans that go constantly most of the summer. Keep cool!

wooohoooo on the smaller athletic pants, alaskandaughter! I don't care what you say...getting into smaller clothes is VERY exciting. Heck, I will be glad to get out of 4x's and 32's!

I have been doing well with my eating as far as staying on plan and I have had no snacks. It feels great to skip that because I used to eat all evening. I pray I can continue doing it! My weigh in is on Wed so we shall see what happens.

I hope everyone has a great day!

This is sucking lately

Warning - bummer of a post, so skip it if you don't want to be dragged down.

I am still semi stalled. I did show a loss of about 3 lbs over the past week or so, but I got REALLY bad about drinking water over the weekend. So I'm chalking it up to dehydration. I am swimming a mile and a half at least 2, sometimes 3 times a week. I have a cross training class twice a week, and I've worked walking a half mile to a different metro stop into my commute everyday. And the loss is STILL not picking up. I'm not calling it a stall b/c I still occasionally lose a pound or two in a week. But I can't work this hard w/o more progress than that. I need the motivation, I just do.

I壇 like to think I知 doing this for my health and screw the number, but I知 not that altruistic. Plus I feel like I get that from the exercise. All I wanted was to feel strong, and I accomplished that by getting back into working out again like 2 months ago. I can keep up w/ the exercise to maintain that accomplishment; but I知 not sure I can also increase the exercise to lose more/faster.

The eating has to be the problem. The problem w/ that is that fixing it is going to be hard. I知 not cheating. I知 not doing strict induction, for example I had a yogurt w/ frozen mixed berries shake a couple of times in the last week, and sometimes I eat yogurt w/ nuts mixed in. But I知 not eating carby crap. I need to just eat less. I had steak for dinner last night. I had an omelet for breakfast w/ onions, peppers, sausage, and a 1 oz slice of cheese. I had a handful of nuts about twice as a snack between brunch and dinner. That痴 pretty typical for a weekend day; Saturday was the same omelet and Korean BBQ for dinner. No snacks.

I think I need to eat less. Like a 2 egg omelet rather than a 3. Weekends have actually gotten a lot better. They used to be when I cheat, but I had gotten over that w/ better discipline. I need to look at my lunch portion size and not eat dinner if I知 not hungry. Often I知 not hungry; but I need to cook something before it goes bad, or it痴 my only shot at veggies for the day. So I end up eating a meal anyway. The keto sticks are VERY LIGHT everyday, even after I swim a half mile. I知 not cheating and they池e still changing, but I have to bee eating too much; it痴 the only thing that makes sense.

Plus my car got stolen, so I知 nervous about losing my exercise w/o a reliable way to get to the gym. It will be okay for 2 weeks or so, my roommate is out of town and I had been planning on using her car anyway to send mine into the garage. Everyone thinks my car will show up in a few days. So I reported it, but I知 not claiming it or thinking about getting something else at least until she gets back and I lose access to her car. But I am NOT in a position to buy a car right now. I have no idea how this is going to work out.

Sorry you are discouraged. Sorry your car is gone. Hope it shows up again, in shape to be useful to you. Congrats on your determination to build up your strength. Now, what if you are not eating ENOUGH? I'm just now pushing to eat my BMR:2423cals - no matter what - at a thread that seems to indicate that eating too little CAN mix up a person's metabolism. What say?

Maybe taking a look at the BMR thread will help you figure out how to adjust your food, so that you see the results you are working so hard for.

I've been driven to work out menu data at FitDay; what an eye-opener it is, getting accurate data from nutritional labels! As hard as it is to force myself to eat more than I want - especially in this heat - I like knowing what my calories are. Maybe you too will benefit from that.

HI EVERYONE, HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD MONDAY.

Hope you get your car back to. My friend had her car stolen from the grocery store parking lot once and when the cops found it, it had been destroyed, someone had thrown cokes and food all over the inside of it and kicked and dented the outside, it lokked awful. They ended up having to buy a new one.
Did your car get stolen or what happend?
Nothing much with me today, just been laying out on the patio getting some suntan.

Hello all,
I am back and on track today.
I went to the Dr. about my swelling and my heart murmur is back. My blood pressure has been way up recently because of having to switch meds. I was having a reaction to taking Verapamil after 5 years. I was itching so intensely I would scratch the blood out of myself daily. Anyhow he is hopeful the new meds at a higher dose will get me back to normal.
Breakfast: Rib eye steak
Lunch: 1 deviled egg (2 halves) and more left over steak
Dinner: left over steak
Lots and lots of water and 3 cups of coffee
Deb..don't let your gain make you give up. It is so hard to get back on track..it took me about 6 months.
Have a good night,
Jean

Well today is the day it happened....weighed in this morning and 199.9. How close can you get? LOL! Sounds like you are all doing pretty well! Hang in there!

Doing, you may be right. I stalled the whole month of March and had to take a look at the calories. I also had to cut cheese way down and do away with cream for the most part. Those changes have worked for me. Just tweak a little, go a week and see what happens.

Reality slips into ONEderLand!

199.9 ~ What a day that shall be for me! Actually my scale does not render odd tenths. All I see are 2,4,6,8/10s as the weights skitter past my eyes and I strive to stand still enough to allow the scale to find an official weight! I'm stlll hopeful of seeing 399 (or even 399.8) on my scale. Someday soon, I hope!

Meanwhile, I am delighted to celebrate anyone's loss. It's all inspirational!

Itchiness? I like to think it's fat cells letting go of fat!!!

Jean, I've been beset with itching that I sincerely hope means that fat cells are letting go of their load of fat. I do like to think of it as a positive itch. To avoid clawing myself bloody, I use a hairbrush to stroke/scratch the itching flesh. Seems to quell whatever is all atwitter in my nerves. Lately it's my outer thigh/hip area that seems to invite a good scratching. Lots of adipose fat there! So I apply a brisk brush with a stiff hairbrush. This is not a soft brushing, as with a natural-bristle bath brush that I use for therapeutic brushing (toward the heart always) but a definitely vigorous brushing to allay the itch that draws my claws and that seems to invite severe scratching to satisfy the itchy urge. Do try it for relief from your own itchiness. Hope it helps you... as it helps me.

Tuesday's plan for a successful LC day...

9:30am...feeling well-nourished, I'm futzing with FitDay to tidy up some entries that are not quite right (like a "liter of olive oil" where I want a Tbs) and need to be deleted - if I can manage to do so.

"OH THOSE SCIENTIST" ARE THEY SO SMART THAT THEY ARE DUMB"

Lateral Thinking....Just goes to show how simple solutions are often overlooked in life. This, as incredible as it may sound, is reportedly a true story:

In the early days of the American space program, NASA received reports from the astronauts that their pens would not write in space. Ball points, fountain pens, even quills, nothing worked! So NASA contacted the people who had supplied the pens and made money available for the production of a pen which would write in space.
Eventually, thousands of dollars later, a suitable pen was produced, incorporating a small gas filled cylinder which propelled the ink out of the pen. It worked both in space and underwater.
The problem was solved, albeit at great expense.

Many years later, when co-operation with the Russians was established, it occurred to someone at NASA to ask how the Russians had solved the problem. "There was no problem," they said, "we used a pencil."

I am still on plan, but have been crazy busy the last couple of weeks. End of the year wind down. Programs, field trips and spring cleaning. Its all taking its toll. Then there is DD...... She is standing on her own... Which you know what comes after that! So I have been cleaning up all the stuff I don't want her to be able to get into and I am letting her out on the floor as much as possible to get her strengthened.

Hi-
Jean-I am SO GLAD you are back and posting. Been missing you. Thanks for checking in on me. I hope your health issues resolve/get better soon. How are other things going?

Alaskan-congrats on the smaller clothes and doing so well! *YAY!* KUTGW!

Tanicka-YAY! for staying on track in the midst of so much turmoil and activity

Doing-So sorry to hear about your car-any news/updates? Hang in there! I know how frustrated and worried you must be not to see the scale moving much-hope you get a whoosh soon!

Zer-you are really amazing to try to do without air conditioning-hope you stay cool and the temp drops soon! Heat makes us swell and retain water so don't be surprised if the scale says higher numbers.

Deb-hang in there **hug** is there anything I can do to help or encourage you? My numbers are up too but I know it is stress and sadness as why I'm faltering.

Mary-good to see you-enjoy the sun for me! Loved the story!

Kim_WOOHOO!!! WTG!! and congrats!!

Edna-hang in there!

HI to everyone else and hope things are going well!

I knew it was coming but I was not ready for it to happen yet.
I have no money saved to buy a new car with.
Now me and my daughter are stuck w/o transportation.

Please say a prayer for us that God will help me find a car somewhere, some way.
I am praying that some kind soul may have a car they will finance to me cheap.

Anyways........I want to eat Hershey...PA......the whole dang town!!

Parker, this is the funniest thing I've seen in a month of Sundays! Thanks for the notion. As for men being willing to weigh on a public scale, it's just data. That's what I tell myself as I plop my scale down and jump on it, no matter who is within earshot of my talking scale that announces weight aloud.

well i've tried reading along the main threads in this forum, runny noses n whatnot, and it doesnt make a lot of sense...everyone else knows everyone else and the posts are just short little comments to each other that dont pertain whatsoever to a LC lifestyle....i like this thread WAYYYY better because it's a small group that i can really get to know and support AND the majority of our conversations actually pertain to our LC way of eating, which is what i need to be part of to keep losing weight....i did a "test" post in those other threads to see what the reaction would be, some quirky little comment of mine, and it wasnt received very well....ah well, just shows me where i'd rather be anyhow...hope you all had a good LC day, i'm still battling the calorie monsters LOL

Good Morning,
Tuesday went well as far as low carb. I probably had to much meat and eggs but that is how I always do when getting back to Atkins. My appetite will decrease as ketosis kicks in. I swear my swelling is better after 2 days of low carb. I find low carbing works better than diuretics for my body.
Tuesdays food was:
Breakfast 3 hamburger patties with mustard
Lunch; 3 BOILED EGGS

Good morning all,
I didn't have internet connection yesterday...some cable was cut somewhere along the way. (I had severe withdrawals lol )
Today was my weekly weigh-in and I am disappointed...only 2 lbs but I am determined to go on...I ate much below what I had previously on Atkins so perhaps I need to up everything. I am eating LC and low fat.

I hope you are able to find a car, dixiechic..wish I had a spare.

I wonder if my keyboard will run out of ink if I hold it upside down, Pcola Girl..

Zer-you keep me laffin' and inspired! I'm determined to see 199.9 on the scale someday too! (seems like an eternity away--lol )

Everyone here is so supportive...I'm getting attached and enjoy reading all the posts. Have a great day everyone!

I too appreciate the support on this thread. Thanks, Deb, for the tone you set here. It is your kind support and the encouragement of my 300+Support LCFriends that gives me courage to go on in the face of stubborn weight that bounces up and down. With 4# being a scant 1% of my total weight, it is not a big deal to this body to show a gain or loss of that amount overnight. Hard to let go of the fond hope that such a swing downward means that a handful of fat is Gone Forever. I'm trying to remember that my scale delivers simple data, and that a trend is more meaningful than a sudden surprise - up or down. Same as the perfidious stock market, where one learns to ride out abrupt spikes in either direction without giving too much weight to spilt milk or to vicissitudes of Fortune. The important thing is to stay the course, adjusting a bit for rough weather but not losing sight of the Nature of Things. Normal life pulse is up-down, as on a cardiac monitor. Flat line is not natural. Rhythm of life is up-down-up....

For me, it's almost the opposite! I don't have the time I did to respond to everyone here on a person-by-person basis, and never feel like I'm an asset to the group. I stick more to the main forum where the topics take me 30 seconds to answer and I stand less of a chance of forgetting someone.

On the up side, I am beginning a challenge for the next six months for folks who want to set a goal by New Year's Eve, as opposed to the general American tendency to work from January 1. (Please come join if it sounds like something you're looking for!)(I need to hit my goal for the year for my kids... so the challenge is, selfishly, partially for me for the next 6 months)

I'm also the new Low-Carb Examiner and have pressure there, too (good pressure, but pressure). I'm starting to wonder if I really can spread myself too thin, but I have to take the blessings where they fall and make the best of opportunity when it presents itself. I hope to continue to pay it forward as their columnist and bring more people into the light.

I am still a reader to this thread, but I'm afraid I'm not terribly helpful here. I'm posting brain candy in the main forum.
