Well Route 66 goes right through Joplin, which is where I work and about 15 miles from the town I live in. I'm about 5 minutes from Oklahoma--we actually have a company in my town that is halfway in MO and halfway in OK.

Edna...I too have walking issues I forced it somewhat and now have inflamed knees and a Baker's Cyst behind my left knee(sorry for too much info) anyhow I have to do all the rest of my walking in my swimming pool.

I sold my treadmill yesterday on Craig's List since I should't do it anymore.

For diversion about a year ago I joined netflix and rented a series Avonlea which was made after Anne of green Gables...I am into those stories they make me so much more comfortable with life on earth than say ... watching the news or the major stations on which is mostly you name it.

If anyone here watches any TV at all... would you make a recommendation of at least one program you would tell me to try watching.

I am not watching the news at present ...how dare those politicians and media people

I just want to

Last evening DH took me back to Whole Foods we fill the house with right foods since that is half the battle. I bought some Ribs too so I can try Kim's Rib Recipe in the Crock Pot...thanks Kim I will let you know how they come out the ingredients sound good
Today is DH last workday so tomorrow we will be getting more done around the house...also I hired a gardener to pull weeds in my yard for $30.00 qa month and next week we will start planting some flowers for the summer.

Guess who moved into our yard ...you would not want this critter a 4 ft balck racer snake ...we have to hire a wildlife specialist to set traps and remove the snake and her eggs. What does this cost $225,00 for two weeks of survelance and chemicals to make my yard an undesirable location of choice for a residence.
I was to say the least when this critter was essing S on my fron walk. I am told removal is the only way to deal with them. I will keep you posted but for now I am staying in the house.

My sister told me a friend of hers in Massachusetts has a snake that moved into herkitchen imagine finding one on the inside. at first i thought this was a Fklorida problem but now i hear they live everywhere I am not a reptile person ...never was

On a more pleasant subject...Monday is the Day Emmie is born...my DD tells me she will be on breast milk only for 6 months. ????? I don't like that. Please help me you younger girls what is going on with the Drs ???

Carol, Breast milk only is what they recommend for the first 6 months. Some babies do great, others are hungry and nurse all the time. It doesn't hurt them to have some rice cereal, etc after 3-4 months, but they don't absorb the nutrients as well until they are bigger. Some babies just need it to feel full though. Doctors will recommend that she feed breast milk for the first year if possible.

Carol, "the womanly art of breastfeeding" is a really good resource book for babies... World Health organization, rec breastfeeding for the first two years, to prevent many diseases, like OBESITY, for instance. but not all moms are comfortable with nursing. "mothering.com" is also a great natural parenting resource.

ugh, I hate snakes, I would have to MOVE!!! I am terrified of them.

nothing new here, meeting a friend for coffee, trying to be more social and less nervous.

Carol, I know all about knees. I feel down a flight of iron stair about 18 mos ago and now, my knee cap pops off whenever I turn my in the wrong direction. You don't know pain, until your knee cap pops off with all your weight bearing (sp?) down on it! It happened yesterday and I almost passed out! But anywho. Would love to have my own pool to exercise in, but we have a comm. pool that I may use when I'm brave enough!

I just joined Blockbusteronline for the same reason Carol! I am so sick and tired of flipping thru the nasty, vulgar shows on. And I love Avonlea! My all time favorite. I am also a fan of Sarah, plain and tall! Wish life was still like that!

Well, must take my DD to work now.
Will be back to post my day in a bit.

Have a great day y'all!

Edna

Carol - DH & I love Netflix. We're always so excited when we get a red envelope in the mail. We're dorks The best show I've watched in a while just ended for the season. It's called Eli Stone. You can probably save it to your Netflix queue for when the DVDs come out. I really hope it comes back next year. I also enjoy Psych. It's silly and goofy and a lot of fun. My absolute favorite show is Jeopardy; I TiVO it every day. Who knows, maybe one day you'll see me on there
I hate the news too & am so sick of politicians....Ugh! Don't even get me started

If there was a snake in my house, I'd probably be in a catatonic state right now. I screamed bloody murder when I saw a lizard in the garage & when there was a flying roach in the living room last summer I locked myself in the study till DH got home and killed it.

DH's grandpa died Tues, so we're leaving tomorrow to go to Beaumont for the funeral.

Kim - I love Miss Londyn's cool shades!

Jennifer, so sorry for your loss. Being there for DH is the most important thing!

She's a sweetie, isn't she? Amazing how much you can love them!

Carol, any creepy crawlies freak me out, frogs included! I'm terrible at them--which is weird cause I grew up with a father who had a reptile farm!

Ugly Betty and Greys!

Together again at LONG last! I am sooooo happy!

I watch those two and Desperate Housewives. Got to have a few hours of smut a week.

Carol- One you might like if they ever have it back on, Eli Stone. Its a great show. I have to find out when the season finale is on, I hope I didn't miss it. And it better be back on next year or I might just have to boycott ABC. Seriously. Every time they get a show that deals with Prophesy on, they yank it. Makes me mad. Rather have the smut TV going on than real worldly messages.

I don't do a lot of TV, but I enjoy listening to "philosophy talk" & This American life" on NPR, and I love watching "globe trekker" on PBS, it is something I like to watch with my son- we plan our fantasy vacations.

I am hooked on LOST but you would have to rent all the past seasons, to be up to speed.

I also loved "six feet under", but that might be too dark for your taste.

we rented the film "waitress" recently and were charmed by it. Very well done.

TaNicka - The season finale of Eli Stone was last week. You may be able to watch it on abc dot com, if not PM me & I'll fill you in. It's a great show isn't it? I'll be if it doesn't come back next year. Did you know the actor who plays Eli is Angelina Jolie's first hubby?

I had my first baby in 1973 my second baby in 1981 I breastfed for 8 weeks but then weaned them to formula we used SMA Powder and also I had a pediatrition who believed in the Natural properties of bananas and asked me to give them fresh mashed banana at noon with their formula so I did and they loved it.

When did the change to no food for 6 months??? I nver heard of it till now??

Heidi thanks for the two references I will L@@K them up...

Edna I started about a year ago to rent starting at the beginning every Avonlea ever made I am starting season 6 this week for instance last evening Gus Pike and Felicity find Gus's long lost mother that they thought was dead...did you see that one and they found her grave to be filled with only stones? I have 3 moreof season 6 and then 4 of season 7 and then I will be finished and will be looking for a new series ...I have loved Avonlea so very much all of the characters wish I could go there and find it was all real

Jennifer you made me so hard because I would have hid too and Kim being raised with reptiles sonear maybe you could help us make sense of why people like them I have not figured that out yet what enjoyment comes from a reptile...any takers???

I will look up Eli Stone and Jeopardy is good but we are usually in the process f supper around that time but I remember my father had it as his fav...maybe that was because my mom did the dishes whilst he watched Jeopardy
Heidi I will rent waitress and watch Glob trekker I like traveling and other parts of the world is interesting!!

June...I am very happy about Emmie being born it has been a long nine months especiall because Cindy knew at the beginning...

I went to my Dr this afternoon. I complained that i have not done much with weightloss since Dec ...he was pleased that I stayed the same and added...

If a p[erson does not move their muscles then there is not the combustion needed to burn the fat so he also asked me to get in the pool asap I assured him as soon as the water temp is above 85 I will o in.

I need to take a nap so I must shut down to all

Hi there ladies..... Busy here today. I went from Reno back to Fallon this afternoon and Tiff was hungry so I went through McDonald's drive thru. She wanted a cheese burger so I ordered a cheeseburger no onion a small diet coke and an apple juice. So the guys tells me my total is 3.18 and I pull forward to window no. 1. I hand him my debit/credit card and he tells me that his machine is all messed up so pull to the next window and he will come take my card up there. Okay fine I pull forward. The girl says "Did you have 2 cheese burgers and a small fry"? I say no I had " 1 cheeseburger no onion an apple juice and a small diet coke." I hand her my debit card, and she says "You didn't pay at the firt window?" I tell her no, the guy told me he was having problems and to pull up. The manager over hears and repeats again "You didn't pay?" I again explain what the guy said and try to give them my card. She gives me our drinks then a cheeseburger. I try to pay and the girl says "just go" VERY rudely I might add. Her manager was also rude.
So I pull out and give Tiff her burger that has ONIONS on it! I was peeved. My DH say's don't complain, the meal was free. I told him that I don't like being treated like cr@p! Free or not, would you complain? After all this Tiff wouldn't eat so I had to make another stop to get her a snack until we could make it home. I am not a happy camper!

P.S. Carol - DH likes watching crime TV or all the COP shows, forensics etc....

I like the Halmark channel, Waltons, Little House on the Prarie and real wholesome Halmark movies

Moring all...
Arlene, I have had similar experiences at my McD's. I swear they only employ iliterate people that hate life. I hate going there but my 16 yr old LOVES their burgers so we do go on occasion. But I just prepare before I get there for the order to be incorrect and NOT to expect curtersy from their employees!

Carol....I am not sure which seasons I have seen but I will be checking to see if BB has the complete series....I love that show!

Well, I made my own oopsie rolls yesterday I am having one for breakfast.
Will be back in a bit to post my entire day.

Good morning ladies. Boy am I glad it's Friday and it's payday Friday so double yay! On the down side I have been PMSing bad and have started wanting to eat junk food but I refuse to give in! May 1'st next Thrusday is mine and my hubby's 10 year wedding aniversery. He has asked me where I want to go to eat at and I told him I don't know. I'm afraid of going off plan and then I know once I do it will snowball from there. So... I don't know what to do.

Well I hope everyone has a happy Friday.

Hi-
Edna-Hang in there. Sounds like youa re arlene have a real rough time of it at McD's. I have to say, I would have at least called and asked for the regional manager's contact info as well as the owner or corporate contact info. There is NO EXCUSE for them to be rude like that to anyone or to constantly get orders wrong. That being said, I did go to Panera Bread twice this week and I ordered the Fuji apple chicken salad both times (2 days in a row!). While the people were not rude, BOTH times they left off the chicken. I did take it back and let them know it was suppsoed to have chicken. They added it both times but they were NOT apologetic in the least.

Nikki-Congrats on 10 years together! I agree with Jennifer-steakhouses are a great choice-so is a place that serves shrimp and lobster! *yum!* Lately, I have been getting steamed shrimp from Publix-they even will add the spice for you while they cook it.... I just love steamed shrimp! *drool*

Cris-Hope all is going well. *hugs*

Tanicka-how goes it?

Carol-my mom and I liked the show 7th Heaven. Mom and dad also watch the show Monk (a detective show) and also my mom (and I) love Star Gate SG1 (if you like sci-fi)

Hope everyone has a great evening!

A stakehouse sounds like a great idea!

Okay I have to vent here. Today I went to Sonic and ordered a cheeseburger with no bun and my mayo on the side. Now I did this samething a few days ago with no problem. Well today the lady tells me that her manager said they cant server the burger without the bun that I can just take the bun off. WTH? If I was I asked for no veggies on my cheeseburger then I bet that wouldn't have been a problem. So I said Forget it and drove off. I was so upset I drove to the quick stop down the street and I got a slice of pizza and a pink lemonaid. I will never go to Sonic again! I should of asked for the manager to come out and talk to me but I didn't think of it until I was already digging into the slice of pizza. I called my hubby and told him what happened and he said only at Burger King you can have it your way haha . I feel so guilty for going off plan all because I was upset . I guess the better thing would have been to get a salad. Just shows that I still have a long way to go.

Carol - I don't know where to find it, but I used to really like watching a police detective show called "The Commish." The guy's real name is a doozy - and I don't remember it off the top of my head, but he is also the guy that played "The Thing" (I think) in a comic book movie a few years back... Michael Chicklis - not the right last name, but its pronounced something like that...

I'm glad I'm not the only one having a hard time right now. Is it the full moon? Super-stress? Just being tired of being so darn good for so little in return? I dunno, but May HAS to be better!
