Good morning gang. Off to a good start this am. I drank my water no coffe I was out of cream. I ate a steak and avocodo for breakfast. I read a lot of Barry Groves book and so far I like it. This is the plan I will follow and think I can stick to long term.

Hi-
*YAY!* Nikki KUTGW!!
*YAY* Arlene-way to go to stay on plan and have a good start!!!
**hugs** June-hang in there-could be anything from hormones to stress to a salty meal-you'll do fine out of town and hit the ground running next week!

I have to shed 18 pounds in the next 17 days to hit a special goal-let's hope I do it! I could use all the help I can get from folks here. I weighed in at 287 this morning and getting under 276.2 means I will have lost 100 pounds from my all time high last year in March. Hitting 269 would be a really BIG goal (even more than losing 100 pounds, if you can believe it), because it would mean I broke through where I always used to get stuck-at 270 so at 269 and it would be the least I've weighed in over a decade-not to mention less than I have ever weighed since I met Valerio and I want to be the BEST I've EVER been when we go in front of the Judge to make this official (and I'll be flying over to Italy June 1st so it would be a big accomplishment to hit that before I go).

Does anyone have any tips, hints, ideas about how to lose that much by then in a healthy way that isn't simply a matter of severely dehydrating myself or starving? I really want the weight I shed to be permanent and not a quick fix where I gain it all back just by drinking water.

Thanks!
--Laura

Thanks Laura for the words of encouragement. I sure wish I knew of a way to lose that much in so little time. When I am at my best I can only manage 10 lbs in a month. Hope someone comes up with a grand idea...

Arlene, can you give an idea of what ur new diet is about. I would like to have a brief rundown. Wishing you lots of luck with it.

Nikki, you are doing a great job. Keep it up

Laura, is it possible to use this time that you are off work to really exercise like crazy, a sort of biggest loser type intensive?? other than that I have no healthy way to get it going. I am proud for you, for all of the focus and hard work you have put out so far!

June, I will miss you when you are away!

this has been a so so day so far. I ate a slice of beetroot, which I was cooking for the lunch at the school. other than that little side line, I have had bacon & chicken breast and salad today. it is 1:47, I hope I can limp through the rest of monday.
my teachers were being snotty and picky and kvetching about some nonorganic raisins that the cook purchased. I felt like telling them off, but I didn't.

Laura - The only thing I know of that works quick is the meat and egg fast, I can't do it personally but alot of people had success with it. Whatever you decide and wherever you are at when that day gets here, just know that you have worked hard to get here and despite everything you have gone through you have done an amazing job! That is something to be proud of.

Heidi - I had to laugh over the organic raisin thing. Some people are never happy
You did good today, how did the rest of the evening go?

June - Barrys plan is kinda like Atkins but more carbs and fats, and less protein. You eat at ratios:
60-70% fats
10-15% carbs
20 - 25% protein

you are allowed up to 60 carbs but you also need to up your fats.
I know from the past when I ate more fats I lost better. Also I was having a hard time eating so much protein but not being able to have more veggies because the carb amounts are so low on Atkins. Anyhow I am giving this a shot and see how I do. I have been failing left and right on Atkins this plan may make me lose slower but if I lose that will be the key and something I could live on.

Hi all, more sad tornado news...one of my employees lost her mother in law, father in law and 2 brother in laws in the storm near my house. Another of the victims was one of my elementary teacher's husband. That means I personally have a connection to 6 people who lost their lives. Very, very sad.

Laura, if you hit strict induction with no cheese and no cream you could easily lose that amount. Limit your veggies to a cup of salad with lunch and dinner. Kind of like a quick start!

Hope your Monday has been good!
Kim

some days I hear about so many natural disasters and feel like the world is just falling apart. 900 killed in an earthquake in china, the cyclone in Burma, and something so close to home.

this afternoon, i ate a 1/2 cup of sunflower seeds, and a couple thin slices of hard parm cheese,
for dinner I had some chicken sausage and a smallish serving of mixed green veg.
I am hovering right around 64 oz of water

Morning Ladies, Well so far today has started well food wise. I had a LC yogurt and some left over beef LOL. I hate breakfast so this is hard to do. I also had my coffee.
Weight is the same as yesterday no surprise there. Well I best hit the shower, Tiff and I have a play date at the park this morning.

My prayers go out to all the people suffering right now. Having been through a major hurricane, I know first-hand how awful it is to go through something like that - but at least we were all okay and material stuff is really, just that - stuff...

I have to go now, but I will post more tomorrow. I am going to visit my MIL about 90 minutes from here. SHe is slowly doing better. I, on the other hand, had better get myself motivated and really working at losing weight. All I'm doing now is spinning my wheels. At least I'm still on the wagon, right? Hugs, Ladies!

Tamale, sometimes staying on the wagon, is a big job, good for you... I have sat at this same weight for several months, a long time, without really moving forward, but at least I am not gaining it all back. sometimes you have to give yourself a little credit.
breakfast- EASE shake
lunch- coffee w/cream, cob salad (eww one of those gnarly pkt, things from safeway- what was I thinking??

did well on drinking my water at work. I need to continue on with the water and not lose my groove.

i did my walk + an extra 1/4 mile tacked on by my walking partner, last night, today it is cold and RAINING, so who knows.

Back home for 2 1/2 weeks

Hi in here...

Laura I ditto Kim on watching the dairy and the salad with meat shrimp or fish...I will be starting n the morning tomorrow with a simular program on myself.

Kim my heart and sympathy to you and all who have suffered loss through this awful storm Honestly I am just with the reports around the world of weather related tragedies.

June ditto I also can just about lose 10 lbs in a month and that is big news for me.

We returned home last evening to Florida the flight was smooth and only 3 hrs. I will be returning north again on May 25 to stay with DD and the baby for three weeks when her DH returns to work she really needs someone around and hee hee it gives me an excuse to be near my granbaby who has all the strings to my heart.
She is very dainty and sleeps a lot like in this picture.

Wakes up hungry...we feed her...then she gets this sort of
milk stupor and after a burp is back to sleep again.

Perhaps the first month out of the womb is sort of a
continuation of the last trimester

Here she is after that burp...

I am looking forward to my three weeks in Rhode Island with DD and Emmie

Again:
Laura I as you go to this final step

Kim I am so sorry for the losses

Arlene...I'm cheering you on...Heidi you too!

Welcome home Carol.. lil emillie is adorable.

Food choices were good today. I had 64 oz of water and 2 mugs of green tea and 2 mugs of coffee/cream. Breakfast:: chicken Lunchorkloin/broccoli casserole, made with parmesan cheese and mayo Dinner: chicken Snacks; pimento cheese and walnuts. Did pilates workout at the Y plus morning and mid afternoon I did stretching exercises.

Tomorrow I will try to increase my water, decrease the coffee/cream. Definitely going to leave the nuts and cheese alone.

Laura, I think Kims idea is the way to go. When I return frm my trip I am going to give it a shot and see if its true, meat and eggs with small amount of veggies. Good luck and keep posting to let us know how its going.

Heidi, you are doing a good job. keep it up

Arlene you too Yall keep it up and soon you are going to look in mirror and holler WOW!!!

Have a great tomorrow

Hi everyone! Carol Emmie is so sweet! I'm sure you never put her down, did you? Hope your DD is feeling better and coping ok...

Hey guys--the year is nearly 1/2 over! Remember that feeling of committment we had on January 1? I challenge each and every one of us to recapture that excitement and motivation and use it to carry through the second half of the year. It's not difficult to aim for 10 lbs a month. That'll be 60 lbs by New Year's Eve--we can do it!!!!!

Good morning friends! I just wanted to check in so that you all know that I'm still going strong. Thanks for the challenge Reality Junkee. I know I started off the new year ready to go but then less than 2 months into it I lost my motivation and gained back most of what I had lost. Not this time!

Have a great low carb day all!

I am in too. In fact I have already started. BUT.... I am eating my share of veggies. Cause unless the chemicals are making us fat, veggies aren't fattening. Most of them anyways.

Well, I am back to business. I have boiled some eggs for emergencies and for today's appointments. I have committed to walking outside at 6 am unless there is a storm with actual lightning. Which there was this morning. And no, I cannot walk after it. My kids are impossible to take on a walk. This much I have figured out. Last year they both loved it, this year.... No dice. So its 6 am or bust.

My schedule is full of appointments today. DS is sick again and Hannah has an appointment at spec. today, so I will be travelling far and wide. And gone for at least 6 hours. *sigh* I wish things could be normal here so I didn't have to do this every week.

Plan of attack:

B- 2 hb eggs, 6 smoky links
L- 2 hb eggs, 2 celery stalks
D- 1 c. taco meat on 3 c. salad greens w/ 2 oz cheddar cheese, 2 tbsp taco sauce and 2 tbsp sour cream

Exercise: Still walking and a lot of it, in and out of car, carrying 18 lb weights... lol

I am also going to be doing induction from here on in, with a dessert modification on Saturdays only. Lowcarb of course. I have a sweet tooth that needs addressed and I think saving it for Saturday will work out. That way I know it is coming, but it won't be too much.

Sounds like a great plan Tanika. Maybe you could dance in the living room with the kids?
This is what I'm going to try with Tiff. She loves to dance and it gets the heart moving.

Carol -Emma is one gorgeous baby. Your DD is lucky to have you around to help. Being a 1st time Mommy can be a bit overwhelming.

Reality - I am so in on that challenge.

Nikki - Your doing great!

Laura - Still waiting on a check in

Heidi - You had a good day, I really need to get that water in.

Okay well I am doing well on plan but this am I was up 1/2 a pound. Not the right direction for sure. I know I need to stay off the scale for the week.
Food is good and pretty easy to follow, I just hope this plan is right for me.
I'll give it till Monday and see what my weight does. If I lose nothing the first week then something is wrong. Well I am gonna get moving so I can get a walk in this morning.
