TLC "I Can Make You Thin"

Did anybody watch this?

I Can Make You Thin : TLC

It was interesting, although I had a hard time with some of the Golden Rules (my DH didn't get past "Eat What You Want"), however I know I need to work on is eating more slow. I shovel food in and then wonder what I ate and did I enjoy it.

Next week he is talking about emotional eating which I will be interested.

Does anybody here follow his plan or heard of him?

I am going to start following his advice. I understand being leary of eating what you want but basically think of after a week of conscious eating I may surprise myself but what it is I actually want. Maybe when I make Pizza not so forbidden it will lose its appeal.

Good luck Sally...I don't think pizza will ever be unappealing to me, although I do allow myself to have it occassionally...

I was very much more conscious of eating my lunch today...even though I ate in front of the pc, I did put my fork down and chew!!!!!!

I watched it and will probably watch it again. but I think he's "preaching to the choir" in some respects. just my opinion. As someone who has tried EVERYTHING I just don't buy a simplistic approach. But if it helps even one person that is great. His ideas are good ones, just won't work for everyone.

But yes I will watch again because I'm sure he will address some interesting issues.

I ate a meal with my eyes closed today. I highly recommend that to anyone! It was very interesting to observe how much more I tasted my food, felt the texture of my food, etc. I felt kind of silly, but it was definitely a worthwile experiment.

I watched last week... and I've got to tell you..

Yesterday I ate my lunch with my eyes closed and it DID make a difference..... I only ate half of what I normally would of.

Also as a banded person one of the BANDSTER rules is to eat slow and listen to your body's signals.. so the putting down the fork between bites is crucial.. its harder than you might think.. especially if your like me and a chronic speed eater!

It's funny because I noticed I eat more slowly now than I did before LC- probably because I am no longer as "excited" and controlled by food. I also don't buy "eating what I want"-- if I ate bad carbs again- I would lose control and not be able to stop-- I just don't feel that way on Atkins...

I agree. I'm following his steps but in the context of LC. Although, if I truly wanted something non LC in the past I would eat it but just a bite. I don't think I could have a carb blowout and be ok.

I'm definitely practicing eating slower. It has helped a lot. I actually feel full at the end of my meal.

I am following his steps as well, but keeping to my lc plan.

The tapping has really helped me during stressful times as well.

Getting better at eating slower, need to work on conscious eating when I get home from work.

I am amazed by how much less food I am eating by paying attention to when I am full

I've tapped so much today I think I have a bruise!!

This is really helping me and I am learning about my eating.

I just wonder about the whole..eat enough calories to lose vs eating when hungry and stopping when I am full.

My weigh in will be Sunday but I don't feel like I was a successful loser this week and I really haven't eaten off plan, but have eaten much less food than before this

I haven't used the craving technique yet...guess I am stuck between a "craving" or "allowing" myself something. I still am sticking lc but can't really think of a true craving....or maybe I just am not aware. I guess I can use this to kick my cheese habit though

Lucki - You are doing AWESOME with this program!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Diane! It really is very easy for me and I am amazed for all the struggles I have been having trying to lose. I haven't had a chance to read the manual i downloaded but it really does work! I am sure that it will work for your cheese habit!!!! Cheese was my downfall too.......ok...care to guess what my stash was that I threw away?????

It wasn't the "c" word was it...chocolate???

You know before I started watching this I admit my chocolate (85% Lindt) was out of control, but ever since the show my bars are lasting much longer than ever. I don't think that is my problem now, but I am seeing cheese getting out of control....

I tried the craving exercise and definitely think it works...if you take the time to reinforce it and keep using it. I'm trying to REMEMBER to use this tool when faced w/a craving but sometimes forget. But I definitely think the more I use it....the more effective it will be!! And that to me is very exciting!!

I think some of his ideas incorporated with a LC lifestyle...for ME..could be really successful! Look forward to reading everyone else's experiences w/this also!!

You can go to mckenna dot com and I believe there are videos for tapping techniques.

The tapping is for emotional eating, which has really helped me a couple times. It distracts the brain and has saved me from diving into the chocolate.

There is a craving techinique, but that is squeezing fingers together

There are 4 principles to his plan
- when you are hungry eat
- eat consciously
- eat what you want (the point is no food is off limits, thus avoiding binging, however I still stick with lc)
- when you are full STOP eating...listen to your tummy on if you are full, don't keep eating just becaues there is food on your plate

His show this week is on supercharging the metabolism which I am really looking forward to!!!

Gwen - glad to hear his techniques are working for you

Yes..and I think there is one more after this week.

Check your guide because last week they replayed the prior episodes right before the new one.

Glad to hear the tapping techniques are working for you Diane! I haven't really tried that part yet so I'm not sure how that will work for me. I guess I'm still a little skeptical yet....but I will definitely give it a try.

I have to admit that although I was very skeptical of this show....and I STILL very much dislike the infomercial/staged style of it...the techniques & concepts seem to have some merit that I feel are at least worth a shot in trying to incorporate w/my lc lifestyle. I esp like the concepts of eating consciously...and the method of using your imagination to fight those cravings!

Can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts, experiences, and feelings on this subject!!

Take care,
Gwen

Can't agree with you any more!!!
I hate the part at the beginning "This is for entertainment only" but I am guessing that is so people don't sue him or TLC if something goes wrong..but still....to me it cheapens the show -- a show that has some good tools.

Thanks Diane, I took a look at the link, didn't have time to read it all but did do a brush over. I do believe that one can use their imagination to fight the cravings because I have always believed my cravings begin in my brain. My biggest problem is just plowing thur without another thought, next thing I know, I am in the middle of a binge. I am very interested in this program and thanks for sharing Now
