I've heard nothing but good about film Penelope (about the magic of elevating self-esteem, mending self-image).

DIY-scales bounce all over and sometimes give wonky readings. I have a digital scale and when mine starts bouncing, I check to make sure the battery in the back hasn't come out. Sometimes, for some reason, the latch to keep it closed comes undone and even though the battery is still hooked up, the scale gives wild readings. Also, I try to see if I need to chnage the battery. If you have a non-battery scale-could your floor be uneven? I'm having to check for a flat, even place in my apartment because the floors are not level. Also, weight fluctuates based on hormones, time of the month (TOM), salt intake, exercise (if you worked out, your muscles hold water weight for a day or two), not to mention stress level can make us gain. Have you taken measurements with a tape measure? If not, I'd highly recommend it. That is a better indicator of things in many instances because you might weigh the same but have lost inches. (Or, like me, lose ionches some places and strangely gain inches in others...) It is a good idea to note where you measured-like 6 inches down from the top of the shoulder, right across the belly button, 3 inches down on your thigh, etc. so you can consistently measure the same place month after month (and I measure monthly-some do it alot less)

Please don't feel like everything has been in vain or lose hope. The whole idea if think long term. We change our lifestyle and eating habits rather than follow a "diet" that is temporary. I can also tell you that for me, calorie counting was an unsuccessful, frustrating experience even though I did it for a long time with the full blessing of the medical community. It wasn't until I switched to low carb, exercise and portion control that my diabetes and weight issues started to improve drastically. I know you want to stay low calorie and I hope it works for you. My own experience was that it didn't work but just like different medicine work for some people and not others (or cause bad reactions) you have to choose the way of eating that works for you and that you can stick with for life. Best wishes and I hope things get better for you!

thank you so much for your words of wisdom. I did workout shortly before going to bed last night. I havent taken measurements because im so big that i disgust myself.

As for the scale, its still been hopping all day. im not eating off plan, but im not going to blog til tomorrow. i think ive sort of been obsessing about it.

As for low cal vs lc. I am so not anti- LC, i just really NEVER tried counting calories. I lowcarbed(and since i know i can never eat that way forever) it was a diet to me, i lost 25 pounds in 3 weeks on it and i crashed hardcore, gained it back plus more and had a few attempts at it before.

i wanted to give lowcal a try before resulting back to something that will be a diet to me. I would rather lose weight in a way that i can honestly continue to live my life. you know? i dont want to lose weight in a way that i cant continue and then gain it all back. That is my reasoning.

thank you again. and hopefully there will be a solid number there for me tomorrow.

and PS so far the water has been making a difference

OMG. You guys are going to think, "Wow! she's even more dumb than I thought!"

I wrote an article and then proceeded to delete it totally from my computer. Four hours of work kaput. With any luck the new software will find it, but man, I'm not a happy camper right now.

On the plus side, I'm selling a bunch of things via a notforprofit yard sale and through craigslist. It feels great to get things out of the house!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone's having a great day!

Today's Menu:
B- turkey on oopsies (4)
S- americano (3)
L- grilled chicken (2)
D- ??? some kind of meat and veggies ???
TOTAL = 9+dinner/8 glasses of water
(going to the gym to walk a couple miles later)

I'm NOT looking forward to my weigh-in tomorrow since I blew it big time last weekend... I'm sure I'll be UP! Oh well... that means next week I'll probably be DOWN!?!?!?

It's beyond the recycle bin. I sent it there and then emptied the bin.

This morning I woke up, ready to make the final edits and found the older version. I about cried.

Doing~ I think when I head to the gym later today I'm going to TRY to run for a bit and see how I do... I'm not expecting that I'll be able to go very long, but I'm curious to see where I'm at. Wish me luck!

oh Cleo, I'm so sorry--What software are you using to try to recover it and did it work? *praying you find the newer version!*

Heather-hopefully the damage won't be too bad-my carb indulgence this weekend actually yeidled some positives! Hope you see good news during the official weigh in!

Heather

You and I have the same weekend problem!! This weekend I'm going to try to avoid blowing it. The weeks I'm slow to lose it's my own fault! I spend til Wed or so just getting back to where I was on Friday! I miss out on Sat, Sun, Mon & Tues as "losing days." I'm not thrilled w/ my weekly average, but I'm not upset about it either. Thinking of it this way, whatever I lose is accomplished between Wed and Friday. Imagine how much better I could do just by reclaiming the rest of the week!

I'm going to stay in & not blow it in the first place. Then I'm going to spend the time in cooking ahead to get a jump on next week. Freeze a pizza crust or 2, and make up a bunch of oopsies!

Next Sat I leave for that work trip. I'll be on my own instead of that weekend too. I might pack a bunch of oopsies for eating out all week. And sucking it up to pay a fortune in room service for eating at the hotel instead of Olive Garden or Chinese! That's 2 weekends in a row I can save myself all the back tracking!

Eventually I need a better way to cope w/ weekends, but right now I just want MORE PROGRESS

Almost forgot!

Good luck too! I'm thinking the same thing on Sat. I'll have access to a friend's treadmill that day. Let me know how it goes? I have swimming tonight and Friday. On Sat I'll try the treadmill. Still putting off my official start til I'm in Phoenix w/ nothing else to do. I am dreading this trip so badly! You have no idea. The running I'm actually looking forward to.

Not at the gym where I might embarass myself by falling off the treadmill in public. It's happened before. So have flying CD players or hurling a full water bottle across the room.

Oh geeze... don't jinx me!

Yes, weekends are DEFINITELY my downfall so far! My hubby and I made up a TON of grilled chicken and oopsies, and stocked up on tuna and eggs (which we'e going to hard boil tonight). I'm hoping it will help to have OP foods ready to go! Tomorrow we're going out to a bar for a going away party for a friend (I'm going to try to stick to diet soda without alcohol). Saturday we're going to a community service program at our church... where lunch will be served. Then, I'm going to a baby shower, where dessert will be served. Then Sunday we'll be at church in the morning, where muffins, donuts, bagels, etc. will be served... and our small group that night, where dinner will be served! Ugh! I love being so active and social, but our society is all about CARBS!!! BUT, I am DETERMINED to stay on plan. NOTHING I ate last weekend was worth it. I actually felt SICK from all the carbs. Now, I just need to remember that!

Doing and Heather-sounds like both of you have some good plans and resolve. Have fun at the gym. I am going to have mexican tonight (Fajitas) and then see a movie. I'll go walking after the movie to rev up my metabolism before bed.

Oh and Angie-hope you had a fun time with the girls. I decided to go see a dollar movie (glad we have a cheap theater in town) even though after 6pm the movies cost $2.00 !!
(I am seeing one movie tonight and then a friend suggested going to see Mad Money tomorrow if it is still there-any one heard anything about that movie?) I think the ol' budget can handle a couple of dollar movies even at the evneing price! I also needed something other than unpacking boxes although I will do some of that later this evening and then have to get ready for a busy Friday. Going to be updating my resume this weekend and go back to the dept of labor on Monday and hope I can find some job leads there.

Laura~ Good idea about getting your metabolism up before bed! I might have to try that! I'm still a late night dinner eater, which probably doesn't help my weight loss... but my hubby and I don't get home until 7pm, so there's not too much we can do about it. BUT, we could go for a little walk before we hit the sack!

BTW, Laura, you have jumped into TWOTERVILLE and kept running!!! WAY TO GO!!! I don't know how I missed the official transition, but I'm so excited for you!!!

Woohoo! I found the file, still in the recycling bin. I saved it under 5 different names and then printed it out.

This is, of course, after I paid $40 for recovery software and then couldn't locate the file.

Gawd, if I had a brain I'd be dangerous. Thanks so much for commiserating with me! I am the happiest girl alive right now!
