Did half a can of wild red salmon with mayo on a bed of shaved celery as lunch - and did not even look into the pink box of donuts that is still sitting there. Did do some carby fiber (for bulk?) after the fishy-mayo. Could have skipped that. But I am proud of myself for not playing at "checking out" the contents of that pink box, which will surely be gone by tomorrow, when next I cruise by kitchen and dining area. I have sardines here, if I want more protein today. If not, I'll drink water until tomorrow's hot slosh protein kick-off. Counting off days until Saturday morning's official weekly weigh-day.
Hope y'all are setting goals and staying focused on reaching each day's goals.

Zer - I'm really proud of you - and inspired, too. Thanks for posting your trials and tribulations. Its almost 7PM here and I guess I can consider myself "back on" - finally! I am currently eating some cream mixed with sf pudding mix and some strawberries. Tastes good - and there won't be reflux at 2AM, either. I had eggs, sausage, and mushrooms for dinner... Hard around here, too, Zer - the Easter Bunny didn't bring as much chocolate as in past years - but for some reason there's a lot still around. I've passed on the peanut M&Ms, PB cups, Hershey Kisses, and Jolly Rancher jellybeans - guess my determination is improving. More later - DS4 is having tummy troubles. I'm very worried about him. Poor guy always seems to be fighting something health-wise.

Miss Minda
Want to jump on board? We can start the same week, and report to each other how we're progressing.
I also think I remember you not having a scale that works yet - do you want mine? I ordered it from Drugstore.com and missed the deadline for returning it. It's brand new. I just consider my old one more reliable. I had ordered it when I was too heavy for my old one to weigh me. So the new one goes higher, and has all kinds of memory type bells and whistles for tracking stuff. Let me know! |

My trainer is determined to turn me into a runner.
I really hate it. I've been doing some circuit training at the gym that mixes strength training with cardio... the cardio is 3 minutes on the treadmill, preferably jogging. I am finally able to jog for the full 3 minutes, but it is hard. I don't like jogging at all. I feel like a big elephant. |

Oh, today at work one of the girls said to me, "You can't lose any more weight." When I asked her why, she said "Because you look like you're almost my size now and if you lose more you'll be smaller than me. I don't want you to be smaller than me."
Umm... okay... my goal is to be MUCH smaller than you. ![]() |

When are you starting? I don't know how well I'll run, but I like the slow steady start to it. I'll have to buy appropriate shoes and a serious bra for it. I don't get paid until next Friday, so I can't start until at least then.
I would love the scale! That is so very generous of you. I don't know how far over 300 I am, but I'm really hoping that it's not too far over. Please let me know if I should message you my address, and let me know when you're thinking of starting the walking--running program.

what a brat - or much stronger language to that effect. You KNOW she's been thinking that for a long time. How tacky that she's actually come out and said it now! I can't even imagine being so tactless and self centered!
Three minutes jogging ... I think I could do that now ... once. I don't know what comes after that. That must be what the building up to it is for. Maybe I'll need to do each week 3 times, and not just two. We'll see. Last edited by Doing this Again : 03-26-2008 at 06:11 PM. Reason: left out the word imagine |

Minda
I won't start until April 4th or 9th. I have to go out of town for work. Starting much before that would mean throwing whatever progress completely out the window w/o acess to the trails I intend to use or my gym. The hotel will have a gym - probably a grand total of 3 pieces of equipment. But I will also have time on my hands in the afternoon for just doing the walking around the area the hotel is.
So, I'll either start when I get there as a poor replacement for the water classes I won't be able to attend while I'm out there. Or when I get back and can figure out a way to work the walking/running into my normal schedule. PM me your address, I'll send the scale out this weekend. I think it reads about 2 pounds low, but it's brand new. So it will come in the box w/ instructions - so you might be able to adjust it somehow. |

At one time I was the fattest person at my school... now I'm not. There are a few who are bigger than me, and that number grows as I shrink. I'm sure that other heavier ladies that I work with have felt some comfort and security in the fact that at least they weren't the biggest one there. Now that I'm losing weight and no longer the biggest, they are losing those feelings of comfort and security... and maybe it's causing them to see their own weight situations more clearly. Eh, I don't know... I just didn't really appreciate that comment.

Amm - she must have felt really insecure about it. That's her problem. Obviously VERY insecure, for not to even realize how tactless it was to say it out loud. You're probably a better person than me, but if it were me; I would have pointed out exactly how tactless it was to say so, and add that her weight is WAY too high to be an acceptable stopping point.
I guarantee you it's about her insecurity a jealousy. My roommate had gastric bypass about 2 years ago. Last year when her weight loss started piling up someone else we know, also over weight, made a similar comment. Slightly less tactless, but VERY similar. Low and behold a year later, she joined weight watchers and started losing weight herself. It was all about jealousy and insecurity. How dare people take those frustrations out on someone else? Someone clearly working so hard? Anyway Minda - PM me your address for the scale. We won't start the walking/running for a couple of weeks yet to procure sneakers and plan! I'm off to bed guys |

Hi-
YAY Cris for getting back on plan! WTG! Amm-Sounds like the person at work has some issues. You just keep doing as well as you are and let her stew about how well things are going for you! KUTGW!! I'm not really someone who likes running either. I do want to get to the point where I can do it if I want/need to though..so I'll start working on the couch to 5K program too! Hey, Tanicka, are you still doing the couch to 5k program and if so, how is it going? Miss ya and your posts! Keep up the good work, Zer! --Laura |

Once again I have fallen behind.
Des, beautiful 1 year "after" pix. I like the 2nd one best I like the close-up shot and your smile is lovely. OTOH, you can't see your legs in the 2nd shot. ![]() amm how did the calzone experiment go? And ya that sucks what your co-worker said. You should hand her a dollar and say "this is for charm school." It's been my experience that when you call people out who say rude stuff they always say "I was just kidding!" Grrrr that really chaps my hide. ![]() Cleo, hurray for losing 7, possibly 8 pounds this week! You are a LC goddess! ![]() Deb, wishing you all the best for your "new beginning" Nice to see you, pretty lady! How do you like Curves? Hey FiberGal, sorry to hear you're still hurtin. Take care of yourself. ![]() Laura, my weight has gone down after an indulgence meal too. Isn't it grand? hehe. I'm not down as low as you, I still go for the handicapped stalls. I hate getting stuck in a regular stall with a TP dispenser on one wall and the feminine hygeine trash can on the other wall--both at knee level. I swear men designed those stalls. Would it kill them to raise the dang things a few inches so they aren't at knee level? I don't even know how normal people can wipe their bums in those stalls. N2LN, hey welcome back! Sorry to hear that you were so sick. Bad news on getting your SS card taken. I had my wallet taken last year. Like an idiot I had my SS card in there. I did speak with the Social Security dept. and they said the only way they would issue a new SSN was if you could prove that you had experienced identity theft and have proof of trying every reasonable avenue to resolve the problem with no results. ![]() Valerie, yay on 1 pound lost! Hippiegirl, I can't remember if you told us about the 50 pound loss but anyhow, congrats! What a milestone. KUTGW! Sending you positive thoughts and warm fuzzies. ![]() Zer, WTG on winning the battle with the stale box of donuts and being rewarded by a huge woosh! DIY, grats on your loss as well! ![]() Angie, good job on doing some meal planning. Enjoy your time off with your girls. Doing, Heather, Minda-- Hello! Good luck on your running! I don't think I will ever be able to run even if I lost weight. Knee injury about 12 years ago. My knee slips out of place if I'm not vigilant every moment I'm on my feet. Very painful. No way am I going to attempt running. hehe. But thumbs up to you guys! ![]() HT, good job on passing up the Easter candy and getting back on plan. I'm not doing so good recovering from Easter. And there is still goodies around the house....stuff for DH. I don't know what happened...for about 3 weeks I was on fire and had such a good mental outlook. It's like you couldn't pay me to cheat. Now for the past 3 weeks I've lost my mojo and I'm slipping off plan foods into my mouth all the time. Went on an all-out binge Sat and Sun and gained up to 335 from a low of 328. I was down to 332 this morning but I am jonesing for junk food right now and I've already been into DH's chocolate. Just a couple bites tho. School is keeping me very busy. Been going to bed at 9pm cuz I'm so tired. Take care all. ![]() |

What about speedwalking, racewalking, powerwalking?
Quote:
Now I am wondering if you might like powerwalking or speedwalking better than running. No impact, pretty much, as you speed-walk (heel heel heel) and move arms in a cardiovascular rhythm opposite to your leg rhythm. For me, I suspect this is what I shall do when I regain use of my hinky left hip as an independent limb able to move me at some speed. We'll see, eh? If you ask your trainer, maybe you can work at this - instead of running or jogging. Quote:

Doing and Minda~ Ok, so I read through the First Steps article... and I am STOKED!!! I've already been walking a bunch more than ever before really, so I hope that I'm ready to try this out! I really like the idea of doing each week 2 or 3 times (especially since I'm guessing this article is aimed at average-weight people, not um... women as voluptuous as ourselves!).
Never thought I'd be so excited about the idea of RUNNING! lol! So, any of you lovely ladies have an incredible sports bra that you can recommend???

Amm~ I agree with what others have shared here about your coworker... she's obviously jealous (I've had "friends" like her in the past... who thought it was just great if I was the heaviest one around!)... and I hope you can take it as a backwards compliment on how far she sees that you've come! AND YOU HAVE COME SO FAR!!! KUTGW!

Mona, the calzone was delicious! I also ended up eating ice cream, too... I know, it wasn't in the plan but I wanted it so I ate it. I haven't weighed myself because I know I'll be up initially. But, since I've gotten right back on plan and continued exercising, my weight will hopefully be down by the end of the week.
