Blood pressure meds cause cravings! Help!!!

My dr. put me on a potassium sparing blood pressure water pill- and it has me craving salty foods like crazy!!

any one had this trouble with water pills used for blood pressure? I know it squeezes the salt out of the body- but this is really hitting me hard! my appetite is going nuts! and I feel hunger and cravings like mad! esp. for salty food!!

I am taking 25 MG Maxzide. Any one have trouble with this one? are there others that won't cause this kind of side effect?

I have lost 57 pounds and I sure don't want a blood pressure pill to wreck my progress!! I'd rather have high blood pressure than gain 57 plus back!! is there a better way to lower bp than this??

Hi AriAnne...

I take Dyazide and I don't seem to have a problem. And salty foods were my foods of choice before. I just talked to my Dr. this week and she considered switching me to Maxide, but decided to try upping my dosage of Dyazide first.

I'd suggest you call the Dr. and tell him what's going on. maybe he'll have some ideas.

I take Hydrochlorothyizide (sp?) and I don't have that problem either. Like Carey salty foods were my food of choice before!

I also take Hydrochlorothyizide 25mg and I don't have any trouble... and I am like Carey and Santana salty foods were my food of choice too... I'ed tell the Dr whats going on...
