So far I've been having pretty decent success, not counting TOM weeks (you know, how you get it after week one unexpectedly? Yeah, then I got it regularly a week later! Ugh! haha)
But yeah, I've lost 15 so far, relatively consistent, I've decided to wait until Monday to weigh again, so I'll let you know how this week went then. But I plan to stay on induction (<30g) until I lose the majority of my weight, I'd say to 170/180 or so and then up my carbs a bit if I feel like I need to, or heck, I might just stay on induction the whole time! What plan are you doing?? I love having people to talk to about this, it makes it so much easier!!! ![]()

Im struggling just like I have for the last 5 years. I have HAD to get back to my plan because of a wheat allergy I have been ignoring...... and it is getting worse. The last bout of allergic reaction has caused me to be ill for nearly a month. So, no more wheat for me. And I CRAVE it. I just want some toast, or grilled cheese... and I miss making homemade breads and pastas. I am literally a wheat addict.
The first two weeks I eliminated wheat from my diet I gained...... yes gained..... almost 10 pounds. Talk about ready to give up! But now its leveling back out and I hope to see some losses. I could use some support, and would be glad to offer support to someone else. I have been a member here since 2003, under a different name or two. But this time I am not going to give up! Let's try that for a change ![]()

I have seen Linda Sue's site, but have yet to use it!! I'm not really a cooker, to be honest I eat a lot of chicken breasts with McCormick grillmates seasonings on them, either grilled or baked. Hamburgers, turkey burgers, with mustard and low carb ketchup, lots of eggs, bacon, lots of cheese, lots of broccoli. Not really even a ton of salad unless I'm in the mood, which is weird because I really love salad. ![]() I guess maybe it doesn't bother me because I'm kind of a no-frills eater anyway? I hope this helped, haha, because I feel like it might not have ![]() |

, but I think I see the problem already just based on what I know I can and cannot eat, haha. You should probably stay away from the LC/SF treats for the first couple weeks just to get it out of your system. Once you don't have them for a while, it's very easy to go with out them. Also, I know I can't eat chicken nuggets because of the breading and it may be too early for the LC lasagna too. How many carbs do you try to stay under a day? ![]() This is not easy to start, trust me, I know. Please don't be offended, I'm trying to help!!!! ![]() |

Newbie 286lb-er just checking in. I, too, am sticking to mostly induction foods for who knows how long. After a month, I'm down 20lbs. I just see it as getting the snowball rolling downhill and watching in awe as it gets grander and grander. I don't know if there's any secret, and I don't know how I'll progress, but I hope we all achieve the success we want.

Hi, folks, I want to play, also.
In Jan. I started at 271, gave up sugar and went pretty low carb. Slowly got down to 252...then started eating wheat again. Now I'm back up to 258 but still sugar free...totally addicted to flour which also gives me migraines and exhaustion. I'm going to start NO flour and get as low carb as I can till the weight starts coming off again. So high everybody! 271/258/150 |

Im going to join in, if its ok...
I have 80 pounds more to lose, been in a plateau now for a bit - UGH! Im thinking of merging a little paleo with atkins at this point - I was reading up on the Atkins site, and its really nothing different - except for the dairy... dairy hasnt been a good friend to me, but, I think the 4 oz per day could be easily managed with a little help from the doctor I see who has been my best friend.... My next weight loss goal is to drop 15 pounds - in fact, Im hoping to use the 15 lb goal as mini goals - smaller goals are more realistic..... Im happy to have a very supportive husband, and even HE works with me - although his portions are that of Thanksgiving every day! LOL So, if you dont mind, Id like to join in.. hope this thread will be easy to find!

Hmmmm.... could you hear my VERY big sigh just now? I am SO frustrated!!! The first time I did Atkins I had no problem sticking with it 100%, and I lost 65 pounds. I got discouraged when we first moved here, as we were living in our motorhome and building our new house. With only a tiny store here and being so very busy from sun-up to sun-down, I made one exception after another until I wasn't on Atkins at all. Add that to having Bells Palsy and being on steroids, and I gained all my weight back.
I've tried going back to low carb numerous times, and I keep throwing in the towel when things get tough. Meanwhile, I've developed a severe wheat allergy and maybe allergies to other things as well (since I've been staying away from wheat and am still having the same symptoms.) I have finally realized that low carb is the ONLY thing that works for me, so I'm going back on program... that is, Atkins minus the wheat. I think I'll have to figure out a sort of elimination diet so I'll know exactly what I'm allergic to. Having said that, I'm pretty nervous about trying Atkins with no wheat at all. I used to like some of the low carb wraps and low carb muffins, brownies, etc. I guess I just need to suck it up, put on my big girl panties and get over it! We're going on another cruise in October, and I'd really like to get rid of at least 25 pounds before then. I know I'll be more comfortable with even a few less pounds. I'm thinking of a mini-goal of 10 pounds for August, 10 pounds for September and another 5 before the cruise. That will make me ten pounds happier for my niece's wedding at the end of this month, too. Okay- I'm off to work on recipes, menus and grocery lists! Good luck to everyone! Raini |

I'm going to check in from time to time too.. I do not want to commit to a "challenge" because it seems like every time I do, it's the death of my eating on track
![]() That said, I did induction once.. way back when.. and I lost 14 lbs in 2 weeks. Then slowly starting going back to my old way of eating until I was completely off track and in denial. Then I tried again and did well for several months until we went on vacation with my whole family to celebrate my dad's birthday (took all my LC goodies with me etc.) but after watching my family eat all the full sugar/carb things at the buffets - I caved on day two and kept saying I would start again when I got home .. of course, that never happened. About 2 years ago I was told I had Type II Diabetes.. which snapped me back on track. I did LC off and on for about a year before, once again, slipping into denial. I've been a member here for a long time..and I "know" LC but I keep getting lazy with making it a part of my "forever life". Then on July 8th of this year, I decided to pull out my blood sugar testing supplies and test myself (I thought the test strips might be expired but they were still good). My blood sugar was 349! That was a major reality check for me. I decided at that moment that I needed to do something or I was going to have a heart attack or lose my legs/feet or DIE. I'm only 38.. I don't want to die.So I've been doing LC since July 9th, 2009. I went to the doctors last week and was weighed for the first time in a year. A year ago, the nurse couldn't even weigh me.. I had to go down to the scale they used for people in wheelchairs (I'm not in a wheelchair but I was more than 350 lbs which is as high as the nurse scales go). I was so embarrassed. I weighed my highest ever.. 369 lbs. Last week, I stepped on the nurses scale, expecting to be embarrassed but I was so surprised when it read 329! It's still so much but OMG, I was beyond thrilled to see 329 on the scale. I haven't seen that number in a long time. 40 pounds, in about a year. Gone. I'm not doing induction. I'm not really exercising at this point but I am up and walking often for my job so I'm not sitting all the time. I'm just watching my carbs, sugars and my blood sugars. It's working.. I can tell because I feel better and my clothes are loose. My husband measured me and I dug out a paper I had from a year ago when he measured me and I've lost inches all over but especially 6 inches from my stomach. ![]() So here goes: I haven't had any bread, potatoes, sugar, regular flour products, chips, crackers, soda, juices, candy, cereals etc etc. since July 8th. For breakfast I normally will have 2 scrambled eggs, 4 bacon slices, 2-3 slices of cucumber and maybe 1 strawberry. For lunch I normally have a LC wrap (flat out bread, only 6 net carbs) with ham, cheese, mayo and mustard. A few LC cheese crisps (see Linda Sue's site).. maybe a string cheese, a few veggies (cucumber, radishes, broccoli or celery) and some nuts. I take this all to work with me but I do not eat it all at one sitting.. I snack on my breaks too. For dinner I try to have a nice dinner salad first. Mixed salad with cucumber, radishes, a Tbsp of shredded cheese, a little bit of ranch dressing and topped with Garlic Almond slices (yum!) .. if I'm still hungry then I'll have some meat. For snacks I always have SF Jello and SF pudding on hand. Whipped topping. Nuts. String Cheese. Deviled Eggs. SF cookies and candy but I rarely eat them. I do enjoy the Carbsmart Ice Cream Bars though ![]() I limit my fruit to strawberries only and maybe only 1-2 a day if I feel like I need the fruit. In the beginning I was drinking a lot of Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper but I no longer really crave it. Most of my cravings have gone out the window. I drink a ton of water too and I have a chart I made up on my frig so I can check off each time I get a glass of water. I try to drink 10 glasses a day. My weekness: Oscar Mayer Cheese Hot Dogs. I love Linda Sue's site and I have tried a few different things. Last night I tried one of her Pizza recipes and I did not care for it but I've had other LC pizza's and loved them. Sorry so long.. hope something here helped! ![]() Oh and my blood sugars are now 130 but I'm working on bringing them lower. In the last 3 weeks, I was able to bring them down from 349 to 130.. I'm proud of myself!

Christian'sMom: Way to go on the 40 pounds! Sounds like you're back on track now. And thank you for all of the suggestions. I think I've used all of them at one time or another, but I appreciate seeing them in front of me and being reminded.
I started eating more salads, too. And differently from what I used to do, I now make a salad before I prepare any of the rest of the dinner. I eat the salad, and wait a bit to see if I really want anything else to eat. And one other thing: we go to a Chinese buffet a couple of times a month. I now eat almost exclusively from their "Mongolian Grill" where I pick out all of my own ingredients for them to stir fry. I know there are no hidden surprises in my choices! And I eat with chopsticks, which slows down my eating. Thanks again for the ideas. Raini |
