Whew, 2009. Scary, isn't it?

2008 was a good year. Its been a year of healthy change.

I never imagined I'd lose as slow as I do. So, 2009 will not be the year of getting to goal. But I do aim to lose as much as I possibly can! What else could I do?

Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone!!!

I WILL eat clean from now on. No more excuses.

And when I think about cheating, you fine ladies (and Mr. Dude!) remind me of the drama I've dealt with this morning... heartburn so bad I almost went to the ER and that has triggered my long dormant asthma so I can barely breath even right now and it's 5 hours post discovery of the event.

I want to get back down to my Happy Weight (260 lbs) and eat clean and see if I can break that plateau. I'm not sure that I can but where I'm at right now is not a happy weight.

I want to work out today so IF I can get the breathing thing under control I'll hit the elliptical. Otherwise I may just go upstairs and look at it for 20 minutes to get myself into the groove of spending 20 minutes a day on it.

I need you ladies (and Mr. Dude!) so please please please check in!

Chai - We can do this!

Meg - I can't wait to see you into Onederland! I'm so psyched!

Yes, WE CAN! :-)

I am determined, motivated, and excited to make 2009 the healthiest year for me. I want to feel strong, and start building my confidence.

From May, until now.. it's just been training. Now, the real job begins!

Meg - Jenn is having a bad body day! But ya know, I'm glad my body is punishing me for not eating correctly. I'm still having breathing issues so I've spent all day telling myself "Hey, was that Honey Bun worth it? What about that sugary Starbucks? What about all that fast food? Was it REALLY worth it?" If I ever have a chance for gastric bypass I am jumping on it soooo fast! But I digress. I bought an OTC inhaler and I can at least breath. And since I'm not eating junk crap anymore my stomach acid is under control. All in all, can't complain... and I'm having fun coming up with a picture post as to Why I Should Eat Low Carb.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here's to a great year! 2008 was tough for me: lost my mother to cancer, my father n law is very sick and nearing the end stages of COPD, and my last living grandma is in the hospital awaiting her transfer to the nursing home. 2009 will be the year I understand why things turn out the way they do. With that being said, I will not make a resolution as I have never accomplished one, but I will learn to take each day as it comes.

Jenn, I feel sooooo much better eating low carb. We cannot control our little quirps though, we're here for a reason. All we can do is try..try..and try again.

Working out today, that's 3 times this week. Now I need to incorporate the right foods, and I may be on to something.

Enjoy your day.
Cindy

Jenn...I take some pepsid AC most days. Seems to help with the stomach acid. My mother had stage 4 GERD so I'm trying to avoid that myself!

Cindy...One day at a time is the only way to live I think. It helps me when I remember to do it. Be blessed.

I ate according to my QWL plan for day one of 14! Thirteen more days of that and then back to the 14 day shape up plan. I'm thinking of rotating the two all year. We'll see how that works out for me soon.

Have a good low carb day ladies and gent. Time to check in me peeps!

Meg - I take Nexium. I think the not taking it daily and the carbs just pushed my body to the point that I had to be punished. I'm genuinely sorry. I'm not sure what stage GERD I have. I'll have to look that up, it would be interesting to know.

Menu for yesterday (Yup, I'm gonna fess up)
Ham & Eggs (3 times, 1 with cheese, 1 with salsa, 1 plain)
Sugar free chocolate (2 bite size pieces)
Sugar free pudding cup

There was so much epinephrine in my system by yesterday evening I couldn't eat real food so it was a pudding cup. It served it's purpose.

I'm being good today. I made dip so I will have something to eat with meats, eggs and veggies. Will definitely pick up some yummies when I go into town this afternoon.

ETA: Meg - sounds like I'm at Stage IV also. Glad I'm not stage V.

Hello all. New to this post. I am a guy who started at 351 on October 15th. I am now 314! My goal is to be 225 by end of summer. I know it is a hard goal but I am one of those guys who has to put the goal just outside of reach otherwise I don't work as hard towards them.

My goals are:
* Keep eating good. 20 or less carbs a day. less than 2000 calories a day.
* increase my treadmill distance in same time frame to 5 and half miles in one hour.
* To reach under 300 pounds by end of january.
* To reach 275 by end of march.
* To reach 250 by end of may.

I know they will be hard but worth it!

Hi all, best of luck working toward your goals ... but enjoy the ride too!

My goals for 2009:
* walk through the gate of ONEderland soon! It's the next pound away
* keep adding to my elliptical endurance and use it at least 4 times a week (a day off every couple of days to allow the leg muscles to repair from the workouts
* continue eating 20 carbs a day or less
* learn PHP (not a diet goal, but still a goal for 2009)
* lose 60 more pounds before 2010 (5 pounds a month) I can do this!

Oct - Good goals! I'm here for ya!

My only real goal is to get back to happy weight (260). I'd like to get under it but I haven't in 6 months so I won't hold my breath.

Woohoo. Dropped another 2.4 pounds. I am 1 pound away from joining 40 pound club and 12 pounds from being under 300. I have not been under 300 since 8th grade!

Meg - How awesome for you!

I'm eating clean and doing well. Today is day 3 or 4 and I'm just fine. No desire for carbies... I guess that heartburn did the trick!

I have a new video game so (assuming it's compatible with my laptop) I'm off to play! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the site... I was just wondering if you could use another person in your group? I was on Atkins about 9 years ago, but didn't really stay committed to the plan long enough to really see any results... LOL, I don't think I even made it past Induction.

Since 1999, I've put on 130+ lbs, and I'm really worried that if things don't change, I'm going to be one of the stories I see on the Discovery Health Channel late at night... So, here I am! My mom started low-carbing back in late October, and has lost 35 lbs so far... I keep thinking I should've started when she did and maybe I'd be 35 lbs closer to my goal! LOL, oh well!

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Welcome Heather! You can lose the weight. Take one day at a time and work your plan.
Jenn...Glad the HB is gone and you're workin' yer plan!
Flipz...Great menu there. Salads are yummy.

I'm on day 5 of Stillman's QWL and am down 2 1/2 pounds. Weighin this A.M. was 211. Gonna do this one until 1/14 and then add in my veggies again for six weeks I think and then cycle back to QWL.

Feel free to chastise me!

I miss my scale... I want to know... have I dropped a couple pounds?
But I need to get out of that mentality. The scale is not my friend and I need to quit depending on it for my highs of the day. Yes, check Pep Talk off my list of things to do today.

I think today's foodie goal will be to make a quiche. And wow oh wow can I not spell when I first wake up (I won't bless you with my misspelling of quiche... but I really thought I had it correct even though most letter were wrong!).

PS - Since we have some noobies, I thought I'd share one of my favorite threads again...

INDUCTION FOOD PORN!!!

This is a thread for pictures (and usually recipes) of Atkins Induction friendly foods that a lot of us cook. If you're looking for some delicious meals or feel like straying, you might want to give this a looksie.
