Losing 100lbs by November - Rockin' October's Pants Off!

Look at me!? I starting the October thread!

Let's post our October goals!

Here's mine...

1. Continue to up my exercise. It's the only thing that is going to make me lose.
2. Continue being awesome with my diet, and maybe even a little more strict.
3. Think positive! I know I have SO much left to lose, but I need to start being proud of what I've lost already.

And, a little proud moment I had yesterday -
My brother bought me a nice, giant, so delicious looking caramel iced coffee from Dunks. I looked at it, and noticed that the cashier had made it with the wrong syrup (not the sugar free kind!). So I looked it up on the site, and that sucker had somewhere between 20-38 grams of carbs.
I couldn't drink it. I pushed it aside on my desk. What I am proud of.. is that, while I felt INCREDIBLY guilty for wasting the drink, it didn't even CROSS MY MIND that it was an option to drink it.

It's all sinking in.

Good morning, Chai...

My goals for October are:

1. Keep eating clean
2. Keep up with the stair climbing and walking at lunchtime (when the weather allows)
3. Start doing upper body exercises on my Total Gym
4. Shoot for a weight somewhere in the high 180's

Chai - that's awesome that you had the willpower to not drink your coffee! I have the willpower to go to the Starbuck's at the grocery store and get DH something and NOT get my chai frapp, but if someone handed me one, I'm not sure if I could ignore it. And I'm not one of those people who could take a sip and be satisfied. So, I would either throw a huge hissy fit or give in and slam it down and feel like a loser for the next week. LOL!

Awesome Goals! You're gonna do great this month :-)

It was so awesome, how it didn't even take willpower to keep me away from it. It just, simply wasn't an option. I feel that way with bread and rolls at restaurants now. They used to taunt me, but now, I can't even hear their little doughy voices.

Thanks, I hope I do OK. I've been really good so far, so I'm guessing I'll be OK.

I haven't been out to a restaurant since starting again. I'm scared to order something if I don't know every ingredient. When I lose more I will.

Yeah, I actually eat out a lot, but I am specific with my order, and round WAY up when estimating carb counts. I always look up nutritional info online before I go, too. So now I have some good standby meals at all my usual restaurants!

Chai & Greer's G,
I especially love the websites where you can customize your item, such as taking a MCD's quarter pounder, eliminating Ketchup, Mustard and the bun, then looking at the total carbs. I try not to eat out much, but with my husband working at night, it's so much easier to go grab a salad or a big roast beef and eat the meat and microwave a veggie.

I will post my October goals later.

Have a great afternoon.
Cindy

Hi Cindy! Where would I find a site like that????

Friends of ours asked up to go out to a "Southern Style Jazz Club and Restaurant"..... UGH! Ya'll know what "Southern Style" means..... Fried yummies and sweet yummies and BAD yummies.... So, I took Chai's advice and looked up the menu online to see what I could get (if anything). I can get a Seafood salad. Minus the citrus dressing. I'll opt for Ranch or maybe oil & vinegar if they have it. or lemon juice... oooohhhhhh... OMG, there was so much yummy stuff on that menu I wanted to cry.

How is everyone today? I feel pretty good. Belly seems to be OK again, so I'm going to try my 2 mile walk at lunchtime......

Good morning, indeed!

Wishing it were Friday.... but hey, another day is another day!

I did 3 miles on the treadmill last night (go me!) but my work out was cut short, and I never got back into it. The boyfriend lost his keys, and I had to pick him up at the train station. (ha, boys!)

I seriously need to find a way to break this -4/+4 plateau. I can't get below 237, but I don't go above 241. I'm just, STUCK. It kills me!

I asked for advice in the main forum, but of course everyone's opinions are SO varied, I pretty much came away with nothing. Too many carbs, not enough carbs, too many calories, not enough calories, etc. etc. I just wish all our bodies reacted the same, so we could all do the same diet!

I do think, though, that I will eliminate caffeine. I don't consume much at all now, but it can't hurt to try.

Maybe if you jazz it up a little w/ some Crystal Light or something you can get some more down.... ??????? I haven't been good this week (sick) and the water here at work was making me a little but I feel better now, so I'm back to getting in about 180-196 oz.

I often wondered abotu plauteus and what makes them happen.... I just don't get it...

Yeah, actually I used to only drink crystal light, and flavored waters, but then of course, I read that those cause a lot of people to stall too. (there is no winning!)

So, I'm just forcing down plain ol water, blech!

That sucks. Sorry, just a suggestion....

I'm not exactly sure what part of my regiment is making me lose, all the water, the food I eat (and don't eat) or the walking the stairs, but I'm not ready to change any of it.

Weigh in day tomorrow. Looking for the Big 20!

Chai - if you have trouble getting in the "extra" water, crystal light may be the way to go. One or two servings a day shouldn't stall you. What gets me is when there is too much in a day.

As for me, doctors appointment tomorrow. I've decided I want to use Symlin again. I'll find out if it's possible when I talk to her tomorrow.

Appetite suppressant. It's an injection before each meal. Worked really well, I just got tired of feeling like a pin cushion and looking like a junkie with a 4 patch bruise rotation system going.

As it stands, right now, I'm in trouble and I need help.

I'm only down .5 lb from Tuesday, so I'm a bit bummed. Better than a gain, but still. Oh well, I shall carry on!

Jenn, thanks for answering! It sounds miserable, no wonder it suppresses your appetite!
I had thought about asking for a medication to help me with my overeating in the past. But my problem is, I never eat because I am HUNGRY. I just ate because I could.
I could be physically ill, and still be able to eat. So, I knew it wouldn't help me.

If you found that it helped you, go for it. But maybe your doctor has other suggestions, as well?

Good morning to you too, Greer'sGal! 1/2lb is awesome!
I would take that! I am exactly the same. (well, I am up a pound, but I haven't pooped all week!)

It's the only thing I've ever taken that honestly, truly "suppressed" my appetite. Like, I was not hungry to the point of not being interested in putting food in my mouth. Not even gum.

Just a little while to go. I'm going in fasting so she can do bloodwork if she wants... and she'd better do it b/c I want some coffee baaaad.

ETA: As far as I know this is the only thing she and her husband prescribe for weight loss. It's not actually a weight loss drug. They don't believe in diet drugs or sleeping pills. But I deal with it b/c I love my doctors, they're awesome. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Ya know, Chai, I was going to ask a poop question a few days ago, but thought it might freak people out.... Does anyone take anything to help in that dept? I read about low carb laxatives, but I'm not sure how fast (or slow) they work. Citrucel and Metamucil are supposed to be low or zero carbs, but I'm kinda afraid to start using them (years ago, my friends G'ma told us never to use them b/c she used them as a way to keep weight off and her body became addicted to it and she needed to use it for the rest of her life..) Any opinions???

Flax Seed - All natural, stool softener and helps clean your veins and arteries of plaque. Awesome stuff. You can whip it into a little "muffin" and it's good.
