BehindTheMask - Once you get passed induction, I'd really recommend OWL. That's what I did this time around and while I am losing slower than I'd like I am eating a large variety of things and I don't have to beat myself up over carbs.
blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah I'm tired today so no story. Final tomorrow. Wish me luck! Off to relax! Menu: B: Atkins Shake Tuna and Pork Rinds (yeah, it's one of THOSE days.) L: 1/2 steak and bag of sugar snap peas D: I don't think I'm going to eat anything for din S: OMM PS - Saw Hancock. It rocked. Best part is NOWHERE in the trailers. ![]()

Behindthemask---welcome back! Girl, you can do this! Too many reasons not too, right?
Jenn, Good luck on your final! I CANNOT wait to see Hancock, glad it was not a dissapointment (sp?). Just got home from a day on the boat and TOO MANY miller lites! But I stayed on plan and actually didn't eat all day, until dinner and then I had a double with cheese from wendy's (sans bun sub oopsie, my lifesaver!!!) and a side salad with homemade ranch for dinner...didn't mean not to eat all day but didn't plan for a day away on the boat and at least I didn't give in to all the chips and crackers and other goodies that were being passed around at the island. Off to bed, going out on the boat again tomorrow but will plan better. Hope y'all have a great Thursday and a great 4th! Be strong and remember, nothing tastes as good as thin feels...not even yummy goodies on the 4th of July! ![]() ~heather

Happy Thursday peeps!
I am getting very frustrated, because my LadyTime™ arrived early, and now it's STILL going. I have a big romantic weekend getaway planned for next weekend, and it doesn't stop I don't know what I'll do :-( I keep reading horror stories on the forum about it lasting months! AHH! Aaaaanyway... Nothing to report otherwise... eating good, not exercising enough. Same ol' same ol! BILLY JOEL CONCERT TONIGHT! WOOO! |

Happy Recap Thursday Divas!
1. Get down to 250 Yeah... maybe. 2. Continue drinking bunches and lots of water Every Day!!! 3. Continue to eat lots of veggies Like you could stop me! 4. Continue tracking calories/carbs/etc to see what I'm eating I haven't tracked in a few days. I'll work on that today if I have free time. 5. Continue with the flax Missed it last night, will eat it after I digest brunch. 6. Continue to support my Divas! That's the best part! Cara???? Where are you??? COME BACK TO THE LIGHT!!! 7. Remain cheat free I had a minor cheat for breakfast... but I'm cool with it... at least until I get on the IHOP website and find out exactly how much damage I just did. ![]() I took my final. Grades will be posted later today. I need a 64 to make a B in the class. I'm pretty confident that I made it. He!! week is OVER! I get to spend the rest of the day with DH (he's working around the house, I might be NOT LAZY and clean the innards), take out my BF/On Call Tutor for a Thank You Bunches and Lots Din and Movie, tomorrow I start working on my shelves and will hopefully finish them by Monday or Tuesday. Then the living room gets put back together and I'm a Happy Gurl! I have to pay for Summer II (bye bye bank account!) and next weekend I have to read the chapter on the Endocrine System so I won't be behind when class starts that following Monday. AND during this week "off" I get to read a chapter on the cell (boring, but I need to know it inside and out for a difficult class I'm taking in the fall) AND I have to read through my two study books for the Nursing Entrance Test that I have to take near the end of Summer II. Needless to say, I'll be plenty busy!!! ![]() Bored Jenn = Crazy Stuff Happens!!! |

Good Thursday Afternoon Ladies!
I'm eating right and hoping my sons can fix my tredmill tommorrow so I can walk off the fat this month. Other than that all I have to say is you all rock and can make it through this holiday weekend fairly unscathed as far as diet goes. I'm looking forward to a BBQ with my family tommorrow so lots of low carb meat is on the menu with nary a sweet in sight or mind. Lettuce, onions and pickles will be our yum yums and a little SF hard candy may be available. I'm gonna be eating on this BBQ meat for at least a week, I'm hoping. ![]() Have a great Forth of July fine ladies! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Alright, the good news keeps on a rockin' in!!!
Grade is posted, I made 83.6 (rawk rawk!) so I definitely have a B for the class. If Dr. Onchocke really loves me he'll give me the extra 10 points and let me rock an A on my transcript. Laura (my friend who has been tutoring me) says that she *should* have gotten a B, but she ended up with an A. My fingers are crossed, but I'm happy either way!!! In other news, I'm still not eating enough calories. I've totaled up a few "typical" days and I'm getting about 1200 if I do a lot of snacking. Any suggestions for high calorie low carb snacks? Heck, maybe "not so low" carbs... even with me pigging out on veggies I'm still around 20 carbs a day. I'm about ready to eat a piece of bread or something b/c to be really honest I feel like I'm pigging out typical meals: HUGE salad (3 cups lettuce with 2 tlbs ranch or whatever dressing and 1-2 tbls bacon pieces) with protein (piece of chicken or steak) or bag of sugar snap peas and protein or huge serving of green beans (1/2 - whole bag) with protein I do that twice a day along with an atkins shake for breakfast and a one minute muffin every other day for flax. Any suggestions? Maybe I should get back to eating the LC ice cream... I've been avoiding it b/c I wanted to eat a more "whole foods" diet. Last edited by i.am.jenn : 07-03-2008 at 12:05 PM. |

How do you decide what is a good level of calories for you?
I know under 1200 is unacceptable for ANY diet. Should I be aiming for 1600? 1800? 2000? I need help, most days I'm WAY under 1200 calories and I'm seriously pigging out. I just don't see how I can cram more food into my stomach. On a day when I snacked A LOT I was at 1460 calories, 40 total carbs, 32 net. HELP ME! |

Hi Jennbaker
Hi Jennbaker,
I could not of agreed with you more....Now there is nothing wrong with being a secretary, but I had enough after only being able to go so high within the company....and because my bosses always thought that I did such an superior job at what I did, they just never wanted me to get promoted to the next level, which I was greatful for the kind thoughts and the extra bonus money they use to give me to encourage me to stay, but I wanted more out of life....So I'm back and will be graduating next July 09 from Eastern Kentucky University with a liberal arts degree so that I can continue on in August for my Masters in Public Health....I'm just so excited that I took the chance and went back to school after all of these years...My husband just started his pre-reqs for the RN program (He has been a welder for 20 yrs - LOL), but his hidden passion was helping seniors, so he recently went back to school in the evenings and earned his certified nursing aide certificate and then started working at a nursing home on the eveings inconjunction to his full-time welding job.....Well he liked it so much that now he is studying to be a registered nurse in the evenings....I'm just so happy about life and what all the Lord is doing between getting my health back in order and school....Okay enough of my babbling, and I wish you all the best in reaching your goals.

Sails - That's so awesome that you're both going back. I'm going for my BSN, RN and I want to work with geriatrics. I love them all, even the old cranky ones!
The plan is to get my three years experience and then continue on to get my Masters to become a Nurse Practioner. So really, I'm just starting my scholastic journey. As far as being a secretary, I was like you. D*** good at what I did, but there was no way to advance, no way to make decent money (I was working for a hospital so there was no room in the budget for bonuses). I finally got tired of hiring people younger than me at more than double my salary. I realized if you want to make a decent salary in this world, you really do have to have a degree. Of you have to be "special" like my supervisor. D*** good and just have that quality that makes people WANT to help you out by finding ways to give you raises. I don't have that quality. I'm taking pre-reqs right now. I plan to start nursing school Spring 2009 and graduate December 2010. I'm just taking it day-by-day, semester-by-semester which is really easy b/c I was in a major holding pattern after spending a full year trying to get into an LVN/LPN program. I made 4th alternatre. Realized it was a sign that I should go for my BSN. Best "bomb" I've ever made. To make things even more awesome and sweet, the director of that program ended up calling me 3 times to tell me I was accepted. Major boost to my self esteem but I'd already gone through the process of financial aid for Stephen F. Austin and really, at that point, it was happening whether I liked it or not. I was just in waaay too deep. ![]() Wow, what a nice early morning story. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE!!! ![]() ![]() Happy Birthday America!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Today my cheat will be eating hotdogs. No bun, just the dog. My MIL offered chips and whatnot, but I told her I can't eat chips, so I'm bringing a veggie tray to nibble on. Yum yum! |

Hi Jennbaker
Hi Jennbaker....enjoyed reading what you wrote and and was like wow when you mentioned that you were a secretary that worked in an hospital.....I was also a secretary working at the University of Kentucky Hospital...its also a teaching hospital for the medical students and nursing students at UK.....I also got so tired of others being promoted above me because they had an degree and I did not, but then I woke up and said why not me????......Well, I certainly agree with everything that you wrote because the ceiling only goes so high with a limited education.....My husband and I are very blessed, but the doors of promotion and raises would only open so wide and then slam shut sometimes.....So I one day up and quit my job at the University of Kentucky Hospital and stepped out on faith and went back to school full-time...It feels so good, but my husband is attending school part-time until I finish my BA next July and then I will get a job and he will download by quitting his full-time job and go full-time to school and only work as an CNA on the weekends.....Thank you Jesus for making a way!!!

HAPPY 4th of JULY everyone!!!
Today's Menu: Brunch- scrambled eggs w/cheese and bacon, coffee D- hamburgers on oopsies, veggies sticks, diet pop S- strawberries and blueberries w/whipped cream (my treat for the 4th) I'm going to a family bbq tonight to celebrate the 4th! We made oopsies to bring in place of buns and as a treat (since we know there will be lots of tempting desserts and snacks there), we're bringing the strawberries and blueberries with whipped cream as a lower carb alternative! Best of determination to us all as we get through another holiday in a food-focused culture!

Hello ladies! I hope you rocked your Fourth of July the LC Way!
I felt bad. I invited myself to my In-Laws b/c I didn't want to be alone today. I've been alone a lot the last few weeks, with my only real "human" contact being these LC boards and mostly you guys (you wonder why I talk so much?). Since I'm out of school, and I've had to leave social events early due to the need to sleep or study I decided to spend a little extra time with them while I have this week off. There is an open invitation, but it's my first time hanging out with them without DH around. So I invited myself, and MIL ends up buying ribs and a HUGE veggie platter so I'll have something to eat. I felt bad about that! I mean, I was fully prepared to eat a few hot dog weiners with some mustard or something. But it was really sweet of her to do something special for me, to make me feel at home at her table. So she asked about the diet (I feel weird calling it a diet when I fully intend to eat like this for the rest of my life) and I confirmed that I'm back on the LC Bandwagon in Full Swing. She asked a few questions, basically, do I save up my carbs for a cheat. I confirmed, I do not. It was nice. ![]() Then she introduced to my new favorite friend, Frozen Blueberries. Pending what dailyplate says about their nutritional value, I may be buying and freezing some tomorrow. We shall see, my new friend. G'night and sweet dreams! |

Hello Ladies!
Annamae...you're doing great and you ate low carb yesterday, too. Yes we had a low carb 4th and we had good fun. It was a good day for us and now my frig is full of bbq pork and chicken. Someone absconded with my hamburgers, though. My younger son fixed my tredmill! I'm back to walking off the pounds. Weight is steady but I hope for a visit from the Whoosh fairy pretty soon.JennB...Good work on your Chem class! Everyone..I hope you had a great 4th and also the rest of this fine weekend. |

Good Morning Divas!
Thanks to the boards I've learned about the mystery of the BMR! Something SlimD already learned about! I should've paid more attention! But thankfully she planted the seeds and now they've become beautiful flowers. So yesterday I spent the morning learning and calculating BMR and decided to eat too my BMR. My goal was 1850-1900 calories. I hit 2075. NOT BAD! I also woke up this morning to a 2.6 lb loss. If this sticks, I'm gonna be sooo psyched and totally back on track! (My weight loss goal is 2.5 lbs/week, 10 lbs/month). Day 1 went smooth, so I'm rockin' on Day 2! Wish me luck! And I hope you ladies are getting some good results too! Meg - The whoosh fairy should be coming your way. I slept with a post it note on my tummy to remind her!!! ![]() |
