Meg - Yay for 1 more lb down!! I think I read the same article which is what gave me the idea to maintain for a little while once I hit 175. Like you I thought 6 months was too long with all I have to lose, but I figure a month or 6 weeks out of my life is short compared to the big picture. Actually, if I really start to buckle down, I could be in maintaining mode by the holidays too. See if the restaurant you're going to has a website. That way you can study the menu before you go & have a plan. |

Good Afternoon everyone,
Well after a sickie start to today, I have not low-carbed at all. I had a few goldfish crackers at break, and a rice krispie treat for lunch. Not hungry, been feeling icky wicky today, but I always feel better if I can get something down. I will have chicken noodle soup tonight, back to low-carb in the morning. Sometimes, I go through this when I get back on 100%.....cleans out my system I guess. Anyway, I am planning a cheat free weekend...lots to do....ball games for 3 nephews, a family reunion on Sunday, and entertaining tomorrow night. (Just low carb snacks and beverages.) Meg, way too go...you're on a roll. Jennifer, 175 sounds so healthy doesn't it? Why not hit it and just sit as you suggest? Nice Plan! Heather, 5 lbs this week is great! Happy comeback! To the rest of you, have a wonderful weekend. Cindy |

Meg, Maintenance is the hardest part for me and I think learning and letting your body get adjusted along the way is the most important part of this process. There's no way that I ever want to regain what I have lost, so I am trying to listen to my body more. Learning what works for our bodies is the key. Quote:

![]() Stagemom...Hope you're havin' a Stay Strong Saturday. I am. I'm making a 10 pound sirloin tip in my 'turkey fryer'. It's not really a fryer but more of a propane roaster. It sears the outside of the meat and keeps the juice inside. One thing I gotta watch is not letting it get too seared...but we like that burnt flavor. This will ne eatin's for awhile. Jennifer...The restaurant doesn't have a website but I think I'll do OK. Yes I plan a mid November to year end maintain mode. I need to practice holiday maintenence for the years to come anyway. Cindy...hope your tummy is better today. I'm still 217...so that's 6 pounds this month. I'll be surprised if I do down any lower this month, but if I do..I'll take it! My best hopes for us all to Stay Strong. Have a wonderful weekend all. ![]() I wonder where the rest of the Divas went? Hope you're all well.

Good Morning!
Well I had my first birthday in 45 years without cake! A sweet friend of mine showed up at a conference we were in with a decadent whip cream topped and caramel drizzled frappacino of some sort. I thanked her profusely and told her I was on day 13 without white sugar or refined carbs. Boy did it look good though! I did treat myself to a diet drink my first one so far. I really am serious. I really want to lose 100 pounds this year. I remember hearing it is all about the decision. Once you truly make up your mind you will do it. What do you guys think about that? I feel like I have made up my mind before but I guess my actions spoke the truth. It does feel a little different this time like this time it is about ME. Like if I don't change now I will be fat and progressivly unhealthy for the rest of my life... Anyway my TOM so I am not weighing. I am planning on being at goal for the month by Thursday the 31st. 246. August should be fun. I haven't been in the 230's for years!

Good happy Sunday morning!
All's well in my neck of the woods. I'm coasting at 217 and hoping to see that again tommorrow morning. Going out to eat today and plan to eat well and not overeat. I'll bring home any leftovers for my doggie...already promised her. I had one of my healty cheats last nite and had about 300 calories worth of raisins..two little boxes but stayed close to my calorie limit at 1,550...so it should help my plumbing and not affect my loss. I hope everyone has a great Low Carb Sunday! |

Good morning Ladies !!!
Way to go Mishelly !! Stay Strong !!! Happy Belated Birthday !Meg - 217 sounds so good ! Wish I was there too !!! Meg, I've been thinking about your suggestion for goals. I think its a great idea. Here's what I'm playing with. I'm could lose 85 pounds in 34 weeks -- that's 2.5 pounds a week. My ultimate ideal goal was 100 pounds by the cruise -- that would be almost 3 lbs a week. August will be my first full month on induction, so I'll be able to know more at the end of August. I haven't been on induction for a whole month yet, so I'm not sure how much in a month I can lose. I am planning on walking at the Y on their indoor track starting this week during lunch -- my office is right next to it -- our office moved next to it in late May. I haven't gone before because I was wearing an ortho boot. Well, last Sunday I hit my highest weight ever 260. I got on the scale this morning and I've lost 3.8 pounds. I was hoping for more -- but TOM got involved. Plans for this week: Stay on induction, drink my water, start walking on the Y indoor track. Set positive & challenging goals for August. P.S. After I post, I'll edit my signature to update everything. I should have doen that first. |

Stagemom! Way to go! 3.8! ![]() Goals help. Some like small goals first then long term ones. When I first started my first one was to get under 300 pounds. My first three weeks I lost about 15 pounds. Thereafter I lost about 2 pounds a week. Now I'm losing about 1 pound a week. We're all different so you will know better by the end of August what your rate will be for awhile. This is a way of life and you're getting a good start on the rest of your healthier life. Hello Everyone,
I know that I don't post every day, but I continue to lurk around and read about all of your inspiring accomplishments. I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to you all. This is by far the most encouraging forum that keeps me inspired to do better each day. I've come to terms that I'm an extremely slow loser, and some days I do get frustrated, but on these days of despair, I just come to this forum and my spirits immediately get lifted when I read about all of your successess. I just want to say that I wish you all continued blessings in reaching your goals and thank you for all being so encouraging to me.

Happy Sunday everybody! Though, the last word I wanna see is SUN. I got a horrible sunburn yesterday, and it gave me sun poisoning as well. Yuck. Now I can't exercise, and I feel miserable! I hope you all are doing better than me!
In good news though, I finished my first week of following an Atkin's specific induction meal plan. It seems to be the same in carbs as what I was doing before, but waaaaay lower in calories. I had no idea induction was so low cal! I hope it yeilds results, but of course Lady Time™ has decided to visit. One more week til a weigh in! I gotta go get dressed now.. wish me luck! Ever had to put a bra on a surnburnt back!? OOOOCHIE!

Hi Chailatte'...Sorry about the sunburn. I hope it gets a little better each day for you. I've had sun poisoning before too...many years ago when I went to the Jersy shore (I grew up in Philly). Now that I live in Texas where the sun is about twice as strong I stay in the shade a lot. This Texas sun can fry me in five minutes flat!
Marilyn...I know those hard moments, too. Being here during my time on the internet helps me a lot. Knowing there are others going through similar stuff and sharing experiences makes it easier to keep it right. Best weight loss success this week for you ladies! |

Hope everyone had a nice low-carb weekend!
Marilyn - I'm glad you checked in. It's very frustrating when the weight doesn't come off as quickly as we would like, but believe me, you're not alone. CL - Sorry about the sunburn. I get a rash if I'm in the sun too long - red, itchy bumps. So I stay out if it as much as possible which is tough to do in TX in July. Hope you feel better. Do you have a link to the Induction menu? I've heard that when Dr Atkins' widow sold the company things changed and I was curious to see if that were true. Quote:
Mishelly - WTG passing up birthday cake! That's hard to do, especially when it's your birthday! ITA that it's all about mindset. I can't even count how many times I started a diet only to cave a few days later. This time I just had that mindset that I was going to see this through no matter what. And the most important thing for me has been not giving up, even when I slip. stagemom - Congrats on your loss! ![]() |

Good Monday morning all.
MissSh, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. Chai, Ouch, I had sun poisoning just one time, and thought I was going to crawl out of my skin. Good luck with your healing. Sails, glad you're still with us, thanks for checking in. I am gung ho on heading into August on a positive note. The people who were going to have the 4th of July party, but cancelled due to one of them taking there State Board test (yippee she passed and is an RN), is now having her graduation party (JENN B...you will be next) Labor Day weekend. I still do not fit into my new brown capris I talked about earlier this summer & planned on wearing them 4th of July. I have the cutest outfit to wear to this party but.......butt, pun so intended. I have the brown capris, brown flip flops, a new white Tshirt and a brown scarf for my hair. I just want to go and have someone notice the loss....sooooo...I have to lose more! If I can wear this outfit, my summer goal is met in my opinion. I am guessing 10 more pounds and working out 3-4 times each week will do it. It's all in the mind. Jenn B...doing ok? Magic, Slim, Cara.......COME BACK! PLEASE! Have a nice day everyone. Cindy |

Oh I did say I'd report how I did eating out.
![]() I did O.K....not perfect. It was Mexican. I had chicken fajita salad...very yum...but I did have 4 tortilla chips with guacomole while waiting. I stayed under my calorie limit for the day but since there is always salt in restaurant food I'm up a pound this A.M. I know it's just water so no big whoop. I'm back on my induction level carbs for a few. ![]() |
