Did someone say compulsive overeater?

ff - Your loss is amazing! Congrats!!!

abouttime - Good luck finding a new job. The perfect one is out there waiting for you to find it

Chai - 9 lbs in 3 weeks is a good rate of loss. And remember you're exercising tons, and our muscles will hold onto water while they repair, which shows up on the scale. Take your measurements - the tape measure is a much more accurate indicator of your progress than the scale. I also like to take a pair of pants that are a size or 2 too small & try them on once a week to see if they're getting closer to fitting. Again, much better measure of progress. And how are you feeling? Better, healthier, more energetic? That's worth it weight (no pun intended ) in gold.
Take a look at these links. They explain eating to your BMR & activity level, which I think is very important. Too few calories and we're in danger of harming our metabolisms. I wish I had known about this when I was in the beginning stages. Keep your eating as clean as possible, use sparkpeople or fitday, drink water, exercise (but not excessively - too much is not necessarily better), and you'll be fine. Above all be patient and realize that your journey is not my journey or his or hers. We're all different and we're all going to lose at different rates. It's a journey to health, not a race to be thin

Check out the sites I linked to above for more info about eating to your BMR & activity level. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be stuck with eating 1000 calories in maintenance. That would be no fun

Diana: LOVE the new pic! I wish I had a LC Kitteh to follow me around and whisper sweet (LC) goodness in my ears.

Meg: Weight lost is weight lost. Bye bye weight! Take it off at your own pace. All the books say the slower you lose it, the more likely it is to be permenantly off... so your method may not be bad!

Chai: You've been to my blog so you probably already know I lost about 20 lbs in the first two weeks. I've been losing steady (SLOWLY!) since then, about 1 - 1.5 lbs a week. I'm trying to step it up a little, see if I can increase that. My personal goal is to lose 2.5 lbs a week (10 lbs/month) which I think is perfectly healthy and reasonable for someone my size... but yeah, that's my 2 cents!

Sunshine: MY workout Wednesday is actually the day I skipped the gym for the sole reason that I have a test tomorrow morning and really needed the extra 1.5 hours to study. I'll make it up by going Friday... the court is still out as to whether I'll go this weekend or not. I have a crazy weekend already (work Friday night from 8:30pm - 8:30am and then I have puppy class at 12:00 Saturday so after that I need to come home and SLEEP!!!)...

For everyone consuming 100 oz+ water each day... I have a question. I'm scared to drink that much water b/c I'm scared it'll mess up my electrolytes. Did you start drinking that much "cold turkey" or did you work yourself into by increasing 20 oz's a week or something. Also, HOW do you drink that much in one day? Are you one of those special people who can continuously drink or are you like me and chug half a bottle and forget about drinking until your tongue is dry again? Let me know, I'm very curious. I've stepped myself up to 80 ozs of water over the past couple of days.

SlimD: my calves are aching today so I'm not feeling guilty that I'm skipping the gym for a day. I don't feel like I'm giving it my all since I'm only working out 40 minutes but I spend the whole time on the elliptical thinking about the fact that I SHOULD be studying. I figure 40 minutes is a good compromise (FOR NOW!) Next week I plan on doing 45 - 50 minutes MINIMUM!

Chai: I saw the commercial for the Wii fitness and I'm thinking about conning my hubby into buying me one. Looks cool. Glad to hear your thoughts on it. Makes me say "gimme gimme!"

Chai: There's a lot of talks on the boards that people are losing weight slowly or hitting stalls b/c they aren't getting enough carbs. I just upped my veggies hoping that the increase in "good carbs" would be enough to increase my losses each week. It's an experiment and I'll be keeping y'all posted (whether you like it or NOT!! hahahahah!)

Magickal: Sorry you're in a low mood. I wish I could cheer you up!!! I think it's great that you posted so brutally honestly. I left out a few details in mine for the sole reason that I've dealt with it, it's in the past, and honestly, it just kills my soul a little at a time to rehash it. Cheer up girly! We all love you!!!

Chai: Hello! My name is Jenn and I'm a compulsive over eater. What I love about LC is you can eat. Eat when you're hungry. Eat a meal when it's time to eat. Get a LC nibble when you need it. What I really love is that the URGE for most of my mindless eating has either subdued or disappeared. It's nice to look at the clock and say "Well if I don't eat now I'm not eating for the rest of the night." and be totally okay with that.

I don't tend to record my food b/c I have a really strange eating schedule. I have to take pills to sleep and if I take them on an almost empty stomach at 6:00pm I'll be able to go to sleep around 9:00pm and wake up in time for school. So my daily eating goes like this:
7:00 am Atkins shake with supplements/vitamins
10:00 Breakfast or Lunch
12:00 Lunch (if the first one didn't count)
3:00 - 4:00 Dinner (needs to be in my belly by 4:30, 5:00 is really pushing it, especially if I'm eating something heavy like meat)

In the evenings if I need to eat I might eat a couple (like 2 or 3) nuts or have a cup of hot tea (my vice!!!)

So yeah, I have a really strange eating schedule... but it works for me!

FF: congrats on getting close to 100 lbs lost. I'm really happy for you and I can't wait to join you!!! What a new brighter life that will be!!! And all my Diva's will be rocking it with me!

Abouttime: Sorry to post it at the end, but good luck job hunting. I've worked with the job seeking public for the last 4.5 years and I know how frustrating and difficult it is. Just keep your head up, keep your attitude positive, follow up with the employers and show them persistence. I hope you find a great job really soon!!!

My workouts are the elliptical machine 4+ days per week at at least 40 minutes per session. I tend to stay on for calories so really, I burned 250 calories in 40 minutes. Next week my goal will probably be 275 calories in whatever minutes that takes... all keeping my heart rate between 155 and 165.

Lets see... jenn news...

Chemistry class is coming along. first exam tomorrow (already? class just started monday! I told you it's going fast!) My teacher is a cute little Kenyan dude and listening to him just reminds me, African people do the most beautiful things with the English language. I am a total sucker for African accents.

My motorcycle made it to the dealership today. I get to go see it (in pieces!) tomorrow and confirm that it's the one I want and make sure it's on hold until my Hubby can get over there to pay for it and drive it back to the house for me. Then I get to spend my free time (what free time?) learning how to ride. It'll go on my list of WEEKEND STUFF TO DO (along with: stain my shelves, polyeurithane(?) them 8 layers, refiinish my blue cabinet, clean the house, etc etc etc not to mention stay ahead in my studies).

I can totally do this!!!

Alright ladies... I'm off to review more for my test tomorrow. Have a good night and I look forward to posting with you all this weekend!!!

Yesterdays Menu:

B: Atkins Shake
L: Brisket with salad (with ranch dressing)
S: 3/4 One Minute Muffin with cream cheese sweetened with splenda
D: Chicken fried steak with minimal gravy, fried okra and green beans
water = 80oz
tea = 16oz diet lipton and 1 cup hot tea with 1 splenda

Todays Menu:

B: Atkins Shake
L: Taco Salad without the shell (shredded pork, lettuce, pico de gallo, black beans, shredded cheese)
D: 2 hamburger patties (1 with cranberry mustard, 1 with horseradish mustard) and a bag of steamed green beans with steak seasoning
S: 1 macadamia nut
S: 1 LC fudge bar (3g net carbs)
water = 80 oz
tea = 16 oz diet lipton and maybe 1 cup hot tea with 1 splenda

By golly, if that bag wasn't enough for the day then I GIVE UP! (but it was so HAHAHAH!)

I do my best to get in at least 100 oz a day. I've been doing it pretty much from day 1 & I sip all day long. I don't drink anything except water (except for my morning coffee) until about 8:00 PM when I drink a soda. If I didn't cut myself off I'd be running to potty all night long. The only time my electrolytes got messed up was when I was doing a water fast, so I think as long as you're eating well and not trying to survive on water you'll be OK.
Good luck on your test tomorrow. at your snack of 1 mac nut

Hi Divas! This thread is such a happening place. Thanks for all the positive feedback. This is my second time doing Atkins. The first time I did Atkins for five months, lost 60 lbs and went off the deep end. This go round, the only difference as far as I can tell is that I upped my carbs.. First time, I stayed at induction (20 carbs) and this time, after the first month or so, I upped to 25..... now I stay somewhere between 25 and 45 usually. --- have gone higher than that a couple times.

Todays Menu:
Breakfast: 1 egg scrambled with cheese, 3 strips bacon
Lunch: Roast beef with melted cheddar, lettuce, ranch dressing, sf jello
Snack: Atkins bar
Dinner: Oscar Mayer ham - 3 slices 50 calories, 0 carbs, cheese, lettuce, bacon bits ranch dressing, sf jello with hwcream
Snack: Pork skins, shredded raw cabbage
156 ounces H2O, 24 ounce cf diet mtn dew, 12 ounce diet pepsi

Feel like I had too much cheese today. Also time for a Dulcolax stool softener tonight. I usually take one 2 or 3 times a week... never the laxative though. TMI I guess. Sorry.

Slim Diva, hope you're feeling better! You too Magickal!

_--
I lost 9 lbs the first two weeks, went week 3 and 4 with absolutely no loss, upped my carbs to 25 and have continued to lose 4 - 5 lbs (on avg.) each week. Each week I have lost at least 2 lbs. What I see that I need now is to up the exercise. --- and I love reading what everyone is doing. Thanks to everyone for sharing -- you are helping to motivate me to get moving. Also, when I first started, it was a struggle to get 64 ounces of water.... I have gradually increased the amounts that I drink. Now and again, I have a day where I only get about 64 ounces....... there are just some days that I cannot drink or eat too much. Learning to eat when I am hungry and trying really hard to stop the mindless grazing that I have always been guilty of doing.

abouttime, I love your avatar. We are cat folks at my house (have three). My ds keeps begging for a puppy. DS is three, so I know who would end up taking care of the puppy... Gotta love the kitties... they are so independent. Good luck on your job search too.

Jenn you have fun on that motorcycle! You sound so incredibly busy. Good luck with your studies too.

----
Noticed this evening that one of our tomato plants has blooms on it. Yay! Cannot wait to start getting some veggies out of the garden. We did not plant many, but will have tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, yellow squash and zucchini squash.. The last tomato I bought was $1.72 (and it was not particularly large) --- hoping we get lots of goodies and save some money at the same time.

Actually sitting here nodding off -- so hope I have not rambled too much. Hope you all have a great Thursday!

Thank you guys!!! I am back down to my pre-Lady Time™ weight ;-) of a loss of 12.5lbs.
I hope that this doesn't happen every single month! so annoying!

I do fear that maybe I am *too* low on carbs.. but when I stall, I'll evaluate that for sure! I have found that low carb eating has helped curb my overeating quite a bit. I hope that I can learn a lot from it, and turn it into something that I can keep with me always to live healthier.

Thank you, again, to everyone for the words and advice, I REALLY appreciate it!

Good morning ladies,

Chai...sounds like you're doing much better on low carb than on the old calorie restricted diet. Looks like you're getting good advice from the ladies here. I never thought one could eat too little to lose weight but it seems to be so...the body does not like to starve so it shuts down unnecesary systems and conserves its calories it gets in. You're doing great. We all lose at different rates.

Magickal...I hope you're feeling better today. Think on the good stuff like all the progress you've made in your life.

SlimDiva...That's a beautiful picture of you! I wish I had that young smooth skin like yours. Mine's a bit on the wrinkly side but at least my belly is deflating!

abouttime Dianna....Best wishes for finding a great job...or at least a better one. sometimes work is just a place to go to get the bills paid. Keep your head up.

Heather...Hello there! Good to meet you.

Fancyface...You are awesome. You're gonna beat me to 100 lost but I'm pulling around the corner right now and closing in! Great job on your weight loss.

JennBaker...Looks like you're doing very well. I always worried about electrolytes when on Stillman's but on Atkins you're getting veggies so you likely get some good electrolytes from them. You could do a google and find the content of your favorites as far as potassium, magnesium calcium and sodium go to be sure. Good luck with the Chemistry. I studied a bit in college and worked in a Chem lab for 13 years.

Chamie...good job doing the walking...best all around exercise. I walk as well but probably not enough yet.

Cara...wow tennis...a good workout there. I was always real bad at sports that required a racket..I bombed at tennis, squash, raquetball. Ping pong I could do though.

Hi Jennifer...big yapper! that's funny. I love your kitty. I have an old grey and white one. She owns me of course.

Hi Sunshinelady Cindy...your water intake boggles my mind but in a good way. I only manage 80 oz plus tea and coffee.

Everybody have a good day today in spite of the obstacles we all know are there. Stay positive. It's the best way to live.

God bless yas,

Meg

Hi everyone!

Test went well. I passed, I'm rooting for an A. I know I missed two answers but I think they are worth 1 pt each. so I'm not worried about it.

Fancy: I wanted a veggie garden but honestly, I won't get out there and water it so I'd just buy a bunch of plants and they'd die and then I'd have an ugly patch in my yard and I live out in the country so it's NOT a pretty yard to begin with... the only reason my yard is green is from the weeds!!! I swear if I win the lotto I'm hiring some "guys" to come out, strip out the yard, install a sprinkler system and lay down some really nice city grass. Then I'll just pay the increase in water bill and what would I care, I'd have bookoo bucks!

My friend, Mrs DooAnn, should have some veggies by now. I may see if she has some extra.

Thanks for everyone's info on water intake and electrolytes... I take it I'd have to consume a) nothing but water or b) a few gallons to mess things up. Good to know!

Chai: TOM messes up all great women. I think part of the reason I haven't had a stall yet is b/c I'm on a BC that eliminates my TOM which makes me a nicer person!!! I forgot to mention yesterday, but my super awesome most bestest puppy dog in the world is named Chy Chy so I think it's really great that we both have puppies named Chy (or Chai as yours is!)... I try not to talk dog on here, but she's been my buddy and bestest friend for the last 8 years. I'm hoping to get another 6 out of her!!! Her favorite hobby is hunting for lizards but I'm about to have the property "pest controlled" and unfortunately it will kill her lizards... and the scorpions, and the snakes, and the spiders, and all the little bugs that keep making my house their home. My house! Go away! I've waited as long as I can but we've killed like a scorpion every other day IN THE HOUSE for the last two weeks. It's time. I'm sleepy when I put on my shoes and if one of those bad boys pokes me in the toe with a stinger I'm gonna be p'd off. Seriously.

Oh yeah, I'm rambling... and I stink and need a shower so I'll check on you guys later!!! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Jenn, Hahah I adore your puppy tangent :-)
Too funny about her name! I almost always just call Chai, Chai-Chai. Her full name is Chai Sprinkles ;-) But she is in no way as girly as her name sounds! She is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, red/white. Ok, I'll post one picture, and we'll never speak of it again! :-)
Here she is with my other pup, Zevon. He's the cutest!

Ok, sorry ladies.. I'm done with that ;-)

On to diet related things!

I just made some tuna salad with celery for lunch, and I scooped it up with pork rinds. I have to say, simple as it is, it may be one of my new favorite low-carb meals! Such a good combo!

But now, I have killer tuna breath! oof !

Today is a rolly-coaster day. The goods, the borings, the goods, the borings, the oops I maybe shouldn't have done that's...

To sum up my day:
took chem test, think I passed, hoping for an A
had a great work out
- burned 300 calories
- moved 3 miles
- figured out that's an equivalent of 50 carbs burned! I love burning calories!!!
went shopping - found dishes that I *<3* and finally found jersey knit sheets (goodbye cheap scratchy sheets!!!)
- went to the dealership and spent an agonizingly boring 3 or so hours there but the bike is paid for, will be ready tomorrow and should make it to me at the latest Sunday.
- came home and FINALLY ate lunch at 5:30
- starting cooking a brisket
- power went out
- took 30 minutes to report the outage (stupid automated soft speaking woman voice!)
- 3.5 hours later the power is back on! hooray for central air!!!
- brisket is back cooking, sheets are in the dryer and I get to goof on the internet! yeah!

Menu for today:
B: Atkins Shake
L: Beef Jerkey
D: Hamburger patty with a box of broccoli

Today is one of those days were I wish it was easier to find LC goodies in a jiffy. At Target I found nuts, beef jerkey and sliced cheese. Nuts are kindof carby so I couldn't make a meal out of them, I didn't feel like making an entire package of slice pepperjack cheese a meal (no fridge out on the run so couldn't store it) so I was left with jerkey. I munched on the bag of turkey jerkey. VERY salty.

Ahh well, I'm off to find ways to entertain myself tonight. I have to stay up late, sleep late tomorrow and then I work all tomorrow night and have to stay up till after puppy class saturday. Then I can come home and go to sleep!!!

Trying to plan ahead... trying!

I did get over 4 miles walking in today. My best yet. Amazing how much stamina I have now. Another epiphany moment. Saw a photo of me and thought wow, my arms are so much smaller -- measured and my upper arm is almost 1/2 its starting size.... wow..... now, if I can just get the butt and stomach area to shrink like that...

See you later Divas! Sorry I am so sleepy, but I will get caught up with each of you in a few hours.

Good morning lovely ladies!

Hi Peachey....good news on dropping the pounds!

JennBaker...I'm pulling for an 'A' in the Chem test. Way to go burning those calories.

Fancyface...you're closing in on the century mark. I want to steal your tuna salad. Think I'll have some tuna today, too.

I'm resisting the urge to post my puppy pictures. Your pups are gorgeous though. I love doggies! Well I'm down three pounds already for the month so things are moving like I wanted them to do. Life is looking up. Have a great weekend!

Meg

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I cannot believe I didn't post yesterday....bad me. I will get caught up reading today.

JennB, love reading your posts. You are busy girl! I worked full time and went to school, I know how pressing time is, planning meals etc, finding time to exercise, etc.

Slim D, where the heck are ya???

Magic, better today?

FF, buying some cabbage this weekend. I love to crunch and cabbage may fullfill my urge.

Rest of you all, have a nice weekend. I am excited about all the newbies here, we have an awesome bunch.

TOM is here today, 3 days late. I cheated with a bag of popcorn last night and 2 oreo cookies..............ughhhhhhhh!!! I have found the cravings before TOM while low carbing are terrible....something I need to better prepare for in the upcoming months. I was up 3 lbs this morning, hopefully all water retention.

Today's menu:
Breakfast, scrambled eggs, Lg coffee-cream from Mc'D's
Snack, veggies & dip (burp broccoi, cauliflower & celery)
Lunch, salad w/tuna, cucumber, shredded cheddar
Snack, same veggies as morning
Dinner, ? but healthy

So our friends who have the 4th of July party every year cancelled this year because one of them is taking an RN exam the week after the 4th and wants to concentrate on studying. So much for wearing my new size 22 capris, which are still a tad snug! Then yesterday, we received a graduation party invite for July 13th. I will fit into those comfy by then, I will, I will and I will plan my big show for that day instead.

Have a nice day.
Cindy

I didn't get to sleep in as late as I wanted. Oh well!!! I'll try for a nap this afternoon and then I'll just run off No-Doz till after puppy class tomorrow. But for now I need to work with Puck on his commands and take him to the park for some Socializations!!!

Cindy - sorry to hear your shindig was cancelled. I'll *hopefully* be taking the RN exam in 3 years... lots to learn between now and then! School is just extra crazy right b/c it's the summer semester and it's going by so fast. The upside is, I'll take my Final on July 3 and then I'll have a week to relax before Summer II starts... but this is what I have to do to graduate in a total of 3 years. Otherwise it would drag out to 4 years including 2 semesters where I take 1 class each. Not fun.

I look forward to hearing the stories about you wowing them at the graduation. It'll be awesome!

Meg - I'm resisting the urge too! I'm so proud of my babies and they are my best buddies (except Puck who is a heathen teenager who some days pretends he does NOT understand the concept of going potty OUTSIDE! but he'll grow up... eventually...)

Fancy - I wish I could spread my veggies out like you do. Right now it's pretty much eat all my veggies in one large meal. I kindof have a feeling I'm not going to get the results I want... but I'll find out Sunday! Congrats on the miles and the skinny minny arms! I've only lost 25 lbs but the only difference I'm seeing in myself is the same one I've been seeing for weeks... It's almost frustrating... but I'm stepping it up so we'll see if I get a decent Whoosh... something... anything... could my body just throw me a bone?

Peachy: sorry about all the long hours... I hope it gets better soon! Are y'all just understaffed?

Hi girls! Happy Friday!

I didn't get a chance to post last night, it was our bunko night.

I know I haven't "said" much yet, but I'm just so consumed with staying on plan and reading all of the positive things you all have to say. I really do appreciate being a part of this thread!

I stayed on plan and even ate before going to bunko, not knowing what would be served for dinner. I didn't even think twice when the cake and ice cream was offered up for dessert.

Yesterday:
b: coffee/splenda/cream
l: leftover chicken parm (no breading), small greek salad
d: 2 chicken salad "patties" browned in butter
s: 5 cashew halves, one glass cabernet

Today:
b: cofee/splenda/cream
l: chicken fajita salad, no shell, with sour cream
d: planning on having buffalo wings (YUM!)
s: may have a bourbon and diet or two later

Keep up the great work, you are all so inspiring and I hope to become an inspiration in the coming months.

Have a great weekend, I'll try to post tomorrow!

Hi Divas!
I am getting to check in a bit earlier today, but just briefly -- Getting ready for another get together.... love the summer months for that, but I am kinda tired and would like to just stay home. Love reading all of your posts, and ladies, it is okay with me if you post pics of your pups! I love seeing them.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Pat yourselves on the back for coming this far and hang in there. heatherj1011, you are an inspiration already.

Visited a fitness center today -- got a free pass and I l-o-v-e-d it. Praying about the financial end of it. Would be so awesome to be able to go --- especially through the hottest summer months. Walked 1.5 miles on the track, tried 5 of the weight resistance machines -- did 30 reps on each, and then did the elliptical for 6 minutes. I am in awe of you who are doing the elliptical for long periods of time. I did go back over to it and do a few more minutes before I left. My legs are feeling it now..... hey, maybe that would help firm the tummy and butt area quicker. I may have to do without something and get that membership.

Menu so far:
Breakfast: 2 eggs scrambled, 2 strips bacon
Lunch: slice of ham, slice of turkey, slice of cheese - tomato and lettuce (lots of lettuce)
Snacks: Atkins bar, cheese cubes, peanuts
Dinner: - cheeseburger (at the cookout) and a large salad with ranch, also we're taking some green beans.

Bought a four pack of Atkins shakes at Wal-Mart today (may have one of those too). Been craving chocolate.....

Water so far: 126 ounces, 12 ounces diet dr pepper, taking my water bottle with us -- just in case -- usually some diet drinks available, but I want to get some more water in first.

Gotta run, everyone's waiting on me.

heather: those chicken salad patties sound good. I may need to learn to make those!

Fancy: Glad you enjoyed the fitness center. I like the rec center on campus, I just hate getting there. But it is gorgeous and I'm lucky to have access to such a nice facility. I think they're opening a 24 fitness center in town. I hope it stays open so I can join when I graduate. It'd be nice to hit the gym after a long shift before beddy bye.

Today is not so interesting in my life. I have to work 8:30 pm to 8:30 am tonight. I tried to sleep late but I was up by 8:00 am. I pretended to sleep until 9:00. I just took a pretend nap. I hope it counts!!! Tomorrow at noon I have puppy class. We'll see if I can make it. I'm planning on going to SLEEP after that.

Now it's time for a shower and to pack my bag of
