Hi All, Today is my first post. My Mom Meg056 encouraged me to join.
Here's a breif summary on my struggle with weight. I have been overweight all my life. I started getting over weight when I was 10 years old and I continued to gain through my teens and in my young adulthood. I have been on many diets. My first large weight loss was when I was 17-18 years old. I lost 57lbs, but I just starved myself and exercised to lose this weight and did not follow any kind of proper diet. I gained everything back and MORE. ![]() Then I decided to diet again at the age of 23 and lost 123lbs. I did the same thing. I ate almost nothing and exercised extensively to lose the weight rapidly. I gained the weight back after my marriage ended just as rapidly as I lost it. ![]() Recently I started the Stillman's diet, and I was successfuly at losing around 37lbs, but I went off my diet when my job was disruppted. My new position leaves me very busy. I have been eating fast food instead of preparing my meals and as a result I gained back everything and more! ![]() I have seen my mother's success and I am so proud of her, and I want to support her by joining and getting back down to a proper weight. ![]() I really liked the low carb diet and it did stop my hunger when I was on it. I just stopped following the program. My 1st goal is to get to 299 by Dec. 31st.

Peachy - I think the whoosh fairy just swings by my house every week and leaves a sprinkle or two of her dust for me. It seems like this time around I just can't lose fast, which, yeah, I know, that's a good thing! It's a very good indicator that I'll keep the weight off this time. But I would love a good whoosh... like one that gets me under 250!
I would say I'd be SO MUCH HAPPIER at 250 but then I'll be itching for 225, then 204.8, then 199.8, then 190, 180, 170, 160, 150... and probably at 150 I'll decide to lose until I hit 130... dunno, I'm not even near there yet. Somewhere in all this I'm going to have to learn to love myself for who I am and what I am. I'm working on being worthy, I am, I am. But I still wrestle with those demons that tell me I'm not. Magick, girl, I'm glad to see you back in action!!! I'm gonna have to read up on Stillman's and see what it's all about. I actually don't know anything about it. ![]() Sunshine, I'm glad to see you back too! You're soo busy and that's awesome! I'm sorry you've only dropped 2 this month. July should be better? No more cheating!!! Silly woman!Meg, calculators are my friends... and I can sell them both when the semester is over. I'd love to sell my graphing calculator that I paid 80+ bucks for and will probably never use again... but it's so obsolete that there is really no point in selling it, I wouldn't get near what I paid for it. Technology! You're a mystery!!! To all: Thanks for the kudo's on the test. Unfortunately I'd have to make 95 on the make up test and the final to get an A in the class so I'm gonna be rocking a B and I'm actually pretty okay with that. Just have to study study study this weekend and make it all happen. ![]()

Mag: WELCOME!!! You've found an awesome place to be (as you've already been told by a quite reliable source!!!)
I spend a lot of time cooking stuff on Sunday to eat during the week since I'm a college student. You might find crock pot recipes work well for you since you are so busy at work. Good luck!!! |

Hey ladies! I'm around. I'm feeling under the weather. Not sure why. I feel yucky though and my stomach is just turning and turning. I better not get sick. I leave in a few days and I have so much to do. I did get my bathrooms cleaned and laundry done today so that is a plus! I'm gonna lay low for the rest of the day though. Take care~

My personal goal for my birthday is coming up... Monday is my 42nd birthday. I'm not going to quiet make it:
I'm down 28+ lbs. and I've travelled 82 miles. I still have this weekend to stay on plan. And I plan to stay on plan. I'll be back Monday to give my final talley. I am making slow progress again, but better than no progress! Last edited by Joy66 : 06-27-2008 at 09:04 PM. |

Does anyone else find it difficult to wake up in the summer? I sleep really well in the winter and I can get out of bed when the alarm goes off. But summer rolls around and man, I just wanna SLEEP!!! I set the alarm for 6:00 so I could drink a little coffee and spend the day studying. I hit snooze for an hour then just flat out turned it off and went back to bed. At 8:00 I got up, let the puppies out... then wound up back in bed (not sure how THAT happened) and snoozed until 9:00. I can't really say it's an issue with temp b/c we keep it in the low 70s year round.
Oh well!!! ![]() |

Okay, here I am girls - I'm so sorry. I have to admit that when I haven't posted in a while, I almost feel like I've let you guys down and that keeps me away even longer!! What is wrong with me??? I KNOW what to do, and I definitely KNOW how much better I feel when I'm on plan.
Help girls - I need help! I've come to the conclusion that I need a life manager - someone to keep me in line. Anyone looking for a job?? Like most of June, I've been good and active, and lots of low carb, but lots of not so low carb, too. I think I've maintained - but that's not my goal. Here goes...again!!!

Cara - Do you have the Atkins books? Or really, the book of your LC diet? I find that sometimes when I stray, if I reread the book, it reminds me of why I'm doing this in the first place.
I'm sure we'd all love to be your manager, so on our behalf here is what I am suggesting. POST DAILY! Talk to us so we can keep you motivated!!! Fess up to your sins. Okay, this one sucks. I'm glad you feel guilty and I hope that's incentive to not do those naughty things again. Eat clean. Take it meal by meal. Just b/c you messed up breakfast DOES NOT mean the whole day is shot. Find yourself some LC goodies that you ENJOY eating. Maybe if you indulge in some LC goodies that feel sinful maybe you'll be less inclined to stray. Me? I like my One Minute Muffin, full of fiber (great side effects!!!) and while it's warm it's like a nice bready treat. There's also the occassionaly LC ice cream and I've really fallen in love with sugar snap peas, raw, from the bag, no dressing. They're YUMMY! I'll try to be a better diva and lay out the guilt trip for you daily. ![]() |

Hello Ladies!
Welcome to my DD I know you can make your year end goal!I agree that posting everyday helps keep us on track and I need all the help I can get! As for not having an appetite, well that is something I wish happened to me occasionally. I've been blessed? with a good appetite even while on low carb..although it does drop off to the point where I can eat under maintenance calories and lose. I'Ve been doing what I call Stillman's plus veggies..although since it's been 11 days since a loss I had a little re-feed last nite and had two tiny boxes of raisins that hub got me a while back when he was getting me Subway salads...so I had 1,600 calories instead of the 1,200 I've been having...but havent eaten anything but 3 hard boiled eggs so far today and I'm guessing my calories will end up evening out. Having a couple burger patties or chicken breast later and some carrots that need to leave my refrigerator...cottage cheese and SF jello for desert if needed. Have a great day, ladies. ![]()

Hi Divas! Just want to check in quickly and will be back tomorrow to get caught up with how everyone is doing. Been another busy, crazy week, but I have managed to post a 2 lb loss. The momentum seems to be gone, but that's okay as long as I can trend downward.... 8 lbs so far for June and that is a low point for the loss so far..... but still a loss that I am tickled with. Got a couple more days in June ---and I am hoping for Onderland by July 4th. Guess we shall see. Gotta run, but will be back on Sunday to read everyone's posts.

Jenn& Idaho: Yes I decided to cook up hamburgers today for the next few days. It does help to have things cooked up in advanced.
I haven't started eliminating enough carbs yet from my diet. I had ground meat with lettuce for breakfast, cheese sticks for snack, and fruit parfait ( not low carb) at lunch time, and I haven't eaten dinner yet but I am about to heat up a hamburger I made this morning. SO I am not really following the low carb diet fully yet, but I am working towards it. I am afraid of losing energy for work by going full Stillman's. I plan to drop my carbs off slowly so I don't go through too much of a withdrawl. Last edited by MAG074 : 06-28-2008 at 09:22 PM. |

Hey ladies I'm here! Thanks for the well wishes. I'm doing a lot better. Still get nauseaus every now and than. With my hubby gone in the army at least I can rule out what I think it could be hahaha. I honestly think I've been not getting enough sleep and I've been really working hard. Lots of hard manual labor and in the heat. And I just think it all caught up with me big time! I've been drinking lots and lots of water though and that really does help out a ton! I haven't weighed myself in couple days. I dont think I will till June 30th. I'm hanging in there as best as I can. I've just been so busy. Once I get to my parent on Tuesday I'll really kick it into high gear.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have to get up early and work in the nursery tomorrow. And than I'm sure we'll go out to eat with the in-laws and I'll have a chicken ceasar salad...it's just been sounding SOOO good! Than come home mow yard and get little odds and ends stuff done and start packing Monday. It's hard to pack when ya leave for a whole month, I've never been gone that long before. If you ladies don't hear from me much in July know that I shall return in August...hopefully a lot lighter too! |

Get this ladies...I felt kinda ook in the stomach this morning and it was awhile before I figured it out. I was hungry! It was a 'sickness' that three hard boiled eggs cured.
I ended up eating my ground round yesterday for lunch. For supper I just had a big bowl of veggies...too full for desert..so that means the chicken is on the menu for me today....gonna cook up a whole package and use it for a few days. I'll tell ya since coming from strict Stillman's and now adding in veggies I am less hungry than I've been in awhile. Veggies fill me up. Thirteenth day at 223. I'm getting impatient for the scale to move but oh well...I ain't gaining!![]() |

Mag - honestly if you go cold turkey you'll probably only be slightly less energetic for a few days. For me it's 2-3 days. And it wasn't really anything anyone could notice, it was really all in my head. I've never tried to wean myself into it, so I couldn't tell you if that would even work.
As far as the withdrawl, I just popped Motrin for the headaches and I was fine.Idaho - glad you're feeling better and have fun packing! I really hate packing b/c I'm always afraid I'll forget something (and I usually do!). |

Meg - I'm not losing either. I have a .6 drop for this week... it's a joke. I'm starting induction today to see if I can get my "rear in gear"... ha! I'm so annoyed right now, with the scale, with my body, with myself. Did I really cheat? Hmmm. Maybe it's the little stuff that I let slide. Maybe it's all adding up? Or maybe my body is a asd;lkjfad;fadkfowieurq243lkrnaxivasedoefidru34452 n5qwedfkfnasdfo8uuzxckvdsf and a ad;lkfjaed9ur354k12n35ra;sdlcxvijaf and then a adlkfjvnz8fdicvujf45n2345rjkans;dfiu89 and maybe it should just go and cnv;ap0394u5j24nrfasjdfnc.
Yeah, in reality, it has to be a user error. Maybe I need to limit the "semi lc meal" to less than 1 per week. Maybe 1 -2 per month? Not a bad idea. For right now I'm going to do Induction for a few days and take it from there! And the really super amazing thing is, I'm starting it today instead of tomorrow or Tuesday which would be more convenient. ![]() Update: I have to retract what I've said. I must have stood on the scale wrong b/c now it's saying a 2.2 lb loss. I'm taking it!!! (And you can't stop me!) Funny how reweighing yourself can make you feel totally better about yourself. ![]() Meg, I'm leaving a note for the whoosh fairy to take her little tookas to Houston to sprinkle you with some whoosh dust! I'd tell her in person but I never see her. Which is a good thing b/c I'd pounce her, spill her dust all over the floor, strip down to my birthday suit and just start wallering in it like Chy Chy when she's found some dead bug or lizard in the yard. ![]() Last edited by i.am.jenn : 06-29-2008 at 06:33 AM. |

I agree I am JUST making excuses! My other excuses include I don't want to waste the food I already have in the fridge, and I am also living with my brothers. I am getting them on the diet too and I am afraid if it is too drastic my little brother will de-rail. ![]() We are all way overweight and I don't want my 2 younger brothers to have a heart attack ( nor me) so I MUST do this for the health of my family. My mom's weight loss though really inspires me because if she can lose this much at her age , I know I can do it as well!BTW I WEIGHED MYSELF AND I AM DOWN 2LBS. I need to change my stats now. My ad lib low carb seems to be okay for week 1. I lost 6 lbs in a week. it most be mostly WATER. I think I will start Stillman's plus veggies when my weightloss starts to stall. Mag - It's really hard to waste that food. My deep freeze is full of lean cuisines and pasta. There's still a few bags of pasta in the cabinet AND a few of those 1 minute lunches that don't need to be refrigerated.
All that being said, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and dive right in. As far as your brothers getting bored, what man would get bored with a diet that will allow him to eat steak every night? I spend a LOT of time digging through the recipe room, cookbooks, etc. looking for LC recipes or recipes that can be adjusted. There's an arsenal of good food out there that is totally LC friendly. And I've found that since I'm not filling up on processed food my grocery bill has gone down. I stock up on meats and fresh veggies and I'm set for the week(s). I usually have to make a second trip for fresh veggies since I don't want them to go bad. You can make this work! And I'm sure your brothers will eat what's in front of them. Besides, men have the disgusting ability to lose weight a LOT faster than women... so be prepared to hate them when they can see their toes and you're in a stall. Stupid men with their super awesome metabolisms... it's just not fair. ![]() Congrats on the weight loss! Sure it may just be water weight, but it's still an awesome loss! |
